Does unlocking bootloader will still Remove Widevine certification? Like what happened on OnePlus 7 Pro?
Yes.
Sent from my IN2023 using Tapatalk
Yes, I checked Netflix, after unlock it's L3. AFAIK, there is no way to preserve the key and I never saw a service/app where L1 and HD weren't linked.
AFAIK, if you backup original boot.img and restore it, then relock bootloader, you'll regain Widevine L1. Can someone confirm this?
Yes,relocking restores DRM keys to get L1 again.
Damn, this is sad.

As long as you don't touch persist partition, you will always get L1 back after locking the bootloader.(Of course, you have to restore back to stock in order to pass boot signature when locking)

For me it can't connect with Netflix servers and just don't work.
That is strange. I'm rooted running xXx and I can watch Netflix without any problems.

I am also rooted. From my understanding, we cannot get HD netflix if we are rooted. Sucks ass.
But is there any way with a modified apk of Netflix and Magiskhide too to watch Netflix in HD ? I really don't want to lose L1 but i'd like to root my OP 8 Pro , any reply is appreciated, thanks

I have Oneplus 8 (not the pro) and I have L1 and Netflix Full HD with the official app. My device is unlocked and rooted with Magisk.
One thing to add I used msm tool to brick my device and then updated it with the last version without losing root . My device is rooted without flashing TWRP .

Before I did the update I had the phone rooted. I didnt loose root. now I have a question that if anyone can help please. Is the verizon xperia Z2 tablet unable to have custom roms and flashed? I followed the link to unlock the bootloader and it says its not available. Is there a method to unlock without the option for Sony website?
As far as I know, no bootloader unlock. Also don't think anyone is working on it. Not sure though.

You don't need to have unlocked bootloader to install custom rom. Only when installing custom kernel.

can someone direct me where to look because everything i find shows that your need an unlocked bootloader to use custom roms, and custom recovery. Also doesnt that void the use of custom roms? you would use a custom kernel on that.

You can find custom recovery here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2794175
I'm afraid that so far no luck with custom roms because only ones for this device are cm or aspects based wich include custom kernel. We need developers for custom roms with stock kernel.

failed OTA update on my Z2
My OTA update had failed on the Verizon Sony Z2 tablet, now the tablet shows "software update failed" at boot up can anyone help?
Saw many post from new users and senior members as well and most of the time there are lot of confusion on the OTA part, especially for the rooted phone. Few says it gets (I am one of them) and few says it doesn’t as rooting capabilities modifies the system boot.img and also we have unlocked bootloader so device wont get the OTAs. I have been using the Huawei/Honor phones for 2 years now and have been getting all the OTAs on rooted phone and confirmed the same many time but still there are lot of confusion and users thinks they wont get OTA on rooted phone.
Just confirming here that you will receive OTAs on rooted phone without any issues. This is 2nd update on my phone since rooted in past 2 months.

Note- I am not using any firmware finder or other things for this as I dont trust on FF as it messed my Honor 5C in February and I given up on it.
Instructions-
If you are rooted but then rolled back to stock recovery, just download the OTA and update.
If you are rooted with TWRP recovery, flash the stock recovery first and then download the OTA to update. (TWRP wont be able to update OTA)

It will remain intact. No data loss. Well Chris, i can confirm on the OTA part but you never know the unforeseen consequences. I mean can run into trouble sometimes as Huawei/Honor phones are prone to brick in seconds. I would say to not update in such scenarios.

Not until Motorola brings Android Oreo to Moto g5 plus

There's also a way to just edit the build.prop by pulling it from adb, editing the file and pushing it back but I'm staying stock at the moment because of the fact that they void warranty just by unlocking bootloader. Also, I honestly haven't felt the need to unlock and change ROM.

Since unlocking bootloader on moto is a bit different, replace the unlocking and relocking commands with your specific device and then maybe this would work. Make sure to backup your important data before trying this out, also correct installation of adb and fastboot drivers with usb debugging and oem unlock enabled is prerequisite.

I'm actually getting Widevine L1 on official MIUI roms (I needed to reflash them after I unlocked the bootloader), stable xiaomi.eu, all the GSI roms and on lazyindian's lineage.
Unfortunately, all the roms provided by letsmakecakes are showing up a Widevine L3 drm.

In order to root your rom you need to unlock the bootloader as far as I know, so yes, you'll be downgraded to L3. In my case, flashing again the MIUI after unlocking the bootloader fixed it.
The mere presence of root should not affect L1

"Unknown Phh Treble Vanilla" which means that I had flashed (and I am currently running) a GSI rom: I obviously had to unlock my bootloader in order to do that.

GSI is not recommanded, above all on a new device without a knowed tools for Unbrik / Reset default rom/settings if you encounter problem.
I advise to you just waiting, time to know when / how this device can be brick/unbrick, if it's free (Like Odin for Samsung or MSM for old OnePlus [from OP 10 it's now paid lol !) or paid (like EDL mode Xiaomi)

It's premature to say whether this is possible or not, as the Phone(1) was released only 5 days ago.
But knowing Carl, I think that everything will be allowed on this smartphone so that it can be used by many people.
It will be necessary to wait a little before having a personalized recovery and thus being able to develop around the Phone(1).

No. Even in old OnePlus unlock bootloader don't void warranty.
Only desimlock a device is not legal/void warranty on a lot country.
Also SAMSUNG devices have warranty void when Knox is 0x1 (Root once, never retrieve 0x0 even after relock/install untouched/genuine rom)
