Hello, I would like to know if I will lose widevine L1 on Pixel Experience or Xiaomi.eu ROM, and if yes, is there a way to enable it again?
All I know is that weekly xiaomi.eu is L3. I don't know about the stable xiaomi.eu, tho.
Hi, europe, drm info app: L1

I'm actually getting Widevine L1 on official MIUI roms (I needed to reflash them after I unlocked the bootloader), stable xiaomi.eu, all the GSI roms and on lazyindian's lineage.
Unfortunately, all the roms provided by letsmakecakes are showing up a Widevine L3 drm.

So you get L1 on xiaomi.eu stable rom?
What if I just root my phone without custom ROM, will I loose widevine ?

In order to root your rom you need to unlock the bootloader as far as I know, so yes, you'll be downgraded to L3. In my case, flashing again the MIUI after unlocking the bootloader fixed it.
The mere presence of root should not affect L1

No, it isn't. My bootloader is still unlocked, but I'm still getting Widevine L1 on DRM info, as shown in the screenshot below.
I haven't tried Netflix yet though. I'm going to test it tomorrow and we'll see whether it can run HD contents correctly.

"Unknown Phh Treble Vanilla" which means that I had flashed (and I am currently running) a GSI rom: I obviously had to unlock my bootloader in order to do that.
I've also checked again via fastboot.

Bad news guys:
I can't get neither Netflix nor Amazon Prime to run in HD on my unlocked Redmi Note 7, despite the Widevine L1.

#LOCKED BOOTLOADER
First of all you need to be on Lollipop 5.0.2 with Root and Recovery installed.
If you don't how to Root and install Recovery on 5.0.2 then follow this thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=60727896
Instructions :
1. Download 5.1 ftf ROM
2. Flash the ROM via Flashtool and EXCLUDE Kernel only
3. Boot in TWRP Recovery and flash a flashable SuperSU zip which you can download from here:
https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU
4. Flash the ROM again via Flashtool BUT this time EXCLUDE EVERYTHING EXCEPT Kernel and UNCHECK wipe data/wipe cache
5. Install SuperSU app and chose Normal mode
6. Hit the Thanks button ? and ENJOY your Android Lollipop 5.1 with Root and Recovery!
### if you want to update via OTA and maintain Root and Recovery follow this :

No
You need custom kernel with built in recovery to use this method. For locked bootloaders, your method is useless as you will remove recovery during 2nd step. I would advise to bring down this topic as users with LB will end up with unrooted and unrootable 5.1.1 FW. You should use update via pre-rooted package instead.
For unlocked bootloader you just flash new ROM, boot custom kernel, install root.. Nothing new here
Just follow this guide. It works fine on Lollipop 5.1.1, I did it on my phone without problem, however, do a backup before you try it.

If you already have this, why not just use the PRF creator? Seems to me that method saves a couple of steps and it worked fine for me when upgrading to 5.02 and 5.1.1.
This method requires an unlocked boatloader. OP please mentioned that in your post

Lockin your bootloader does NOT restore TA partition. It just lockes the bootloader again without the DRM keys. Use TA backup to backup before unlocking. See the comment and picture above. The first three lines should say (ok)..... If u get unknown error... Its impossible to restore your drm keys.... Unless u backed it up.

Sony Bionz X image processing engine which helps to reduce the noise etc in your camera, noise cancelling, x reality super vivid image enhancement, PlayStation play etc. There are few threads around how to restore those lost DRM protected features but I'm not sure they are 100% working.
Have a look here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/xperia-z1-z2-z3-series-devices-drm-t2930672
Like the person above said locking your bootloader doesn't restore your DRM keys. It just sets your bootloader status to locked, which helps you to use official Sony update services such as Sony PC companion. Always remember to research before any modifications.

If it's greyed out, then u have to do a factory reset. However, it still wont unlock it.
I had the same problem when I was trying to unlock my phone's bootloader, but it failed every time, so I'm just waiting if anyone is able to unlock it.
My phone's (Pixel 2) Android version is 8.1.0 and patch level is March 5, 2018.

There was a brief period of time where a bunch of us got our VZW Pixel 2's bootloaders unlocked, the mega thread is here https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-2/help/maybe-stupid-question-verizon-pixel-2s-t3726294/post74983838#post74983838, but from what I've read the firmware was patched in February that closed this window/loophole. Also carrier unlocked != bootloader unlocked, it just means you can use it on any carrier's network. Has nothing to do with OEM Unlock in Developer Options. Hope that helps.
With the new update a i make a new recovery flasher option for devices with project treble. Test it and told me if it works

Since unlocking bootloader on moto is a bit different, replace the unlocking and relocking commands with your specific device and then maybe this would work. Make sure to backup your important data before trying this out, also correct installation of adb and fastboot drivers with usb debugging and oem unlock enabled is prerequisite.

Does unlocking bootloader will still Remove Widevine certification? Like what happened on OnePlus 7 Pro?
Yes.

Yes, I checked Netflix, after unlock it's L3. AFAIK, there is no way to preserve the key and I never saw a service/app where L1 and HD weren't linked.
AFAIK, if you backup original boot.img and restore it, then relock bootloader, you'll regain Widevine L1. Can someone confirm this?
Yes,relocking restores DRM keys to get L1 again.
Damn, this is sad.

GSI is not recommanded, above all on a new device without a knowed tools for Unbrik / Reset default rom/settings if you encounter problem.
I advise to you just waiting, time to know when / how this device can be brick/unbrick, if it's free (Like Odin for Samsung or MSM for old OnePlus [from OP 10 it's now paid lol !) or paid (like EDL mode Xiaomi)
Somebody needs to make a tool in order to shrink the comically large status bar and remove the ugly google search bar on home screen

It's premature to say whether this is possible or not, as the Phone(1) was released only 5 days ago.
But knowing Carl, I think that everything will be allowed on this smartphone so that it can be used by many people.
It will be necessary to wait a little before having a personalized recovery and thus being able to develop around the Phone(1).

No. Even in old OnePlus unlock bootloader don't void warranty.
Only desimlock a device is not legal/void warranty on a lot country.
Also SAMSUNG devices have warranty void when Knox is 0x1 (Root once, never retrieve 0x0 even after relock/install untouched/genuine rom)
