Hi guys, so I was flashing the FloydQ and once booted it asked me to put WiFi password. I did it but then it gave me black screen and the smartphone won't turn on no matter what I do and it was at 100% battery. I tried:
- Recovery combination (Home Button + Vol Up + Power)
- Fastboot combination (Home Button + Vol Down + Power)
- Connect it to the PC with windows
- Conncet it to the PC with Linux
- Tried to see if magically the ADB would find it
- Disconnect battery for hours
- Charging it the whole night (about 6 hours)
The result was always the same, absolutely nothing. I have also an USB Volt Meter and it take 5.10V and 0.23A that I think is reasonable because it has the battery at 100%. What can I do to try to revive it? Any suggestion?

Flashing a rom should not make any phone dead, your phone seems to be hard stuck simply, you need to hold vol down+home+power buttons to force reboot..
Read your rom's f.a.q, avoid any things/accessories which may cause compatibility issue..
If above fix doesn't work, hold power button while connecting phone to pc, or holding keys for download mode.
If still not work, you may need to use a usb jig i fear, but this shouldn't happen..

So I found this schematics and noticed that the phone get hot where the U7000 AP PMIC that is the power IC. It can be find online like S535 Power IC, already ordered and I hope to restore the phone. It couldn't be the ROM because I managed to boot it, and also trying like you said, nothing appear on my PC

Ah, really a bad luck/co-incidence to happen, a hardware fault at the same time after flashing a custom rom..
Maybe you should report it to the respective rom developer, who knows if there maybe a correlation between driver and wrong irq values and causing hardware damage ?
It is a known fact that samsung ufs chips can take millions of flashes, but its a fact too that an interrupted flash process or disconnecting cable in the middle of flashing when happens multiple times, can cause memory chip damage.
But all in all a phone board being killed by a wrong/incompatible driver is very unlikely.. you may just have been one of the unlucky ones, still report to the devs of your rom. Good luck

Hi,
I have the same issue with my S7. Did you fix this problem by replacing the U7000?

If its not yet solved after 2 years, my suggestion is to flash a stock rom in it.
STOCK ROMS FOR S7 EDGE
Just search your device model in the link, Download it and flash it using odin.
I hope it helps even if i'm 2 years late

There is another way to access the download by pressing only two buttons. The method is as follows: With the phone off the USB cable is connected only to the mobile. Then tightened simultaneously volume - (minus) and the home key with one hand (which each managed as best they can) and the other is connected to the PC and the phone goes into download mode.
This way has been possible solved a semi-brick.
As my english is not very good here you have a link in spanish wher you can read the problem and the solution.

Cheers.
It isn't really a 3 button download mode anyway, the power is just used to get it powered to notice the volume- and menu are held. By plugging into the pc, you are triggering the power up event instead of using the power key (only if it is a true usb port..my laptop dock has a usb "charge" port that won't trigger the phone power on, it triggers the on screen battery like the ac adapter and only adb works to the phone on that port, not usb mounting or odin).
I actually go to recovery or download by holding menu and vol, and only briefly pressing the power, makes it easier to focus on making sure you hold the vol and menu keys without accidentally releasing too soon (about 5 secs is enough to hold them down as it powers up).

Ok, but in a phone semi-brick without possibilty to access to download mode with the combo of the three buttoms this worked. It's only a new way, only that. Was discovered by accident and i share with you if it can be useful.
Interesting if this can work where vol- + menu and then power doesn't! Good tip then if this is the case.

Has anyone able to do this successfully?
I think the guy who was able to get this done was using a USB jig with pin 4 & 5 shorted with 300+ transistors.
MY GOD THIS WORKS.
I am giving this thread 5 stars & recommending a sticky.
PS : I held Vol Dn + Menu leaving the USB cable plugged into the computer, Then inserted the other end into my phone.
Tested and it works !!!
Hold Volume down + Home button than plug usb in and your in download mode!!
Great
i tried that before it doesn't work for like 60%+ percent of people
because it's heavily dependent on the kind of USB port in use.
most computer don't have the correct USB port to work
and coincidentally, this will only work on people that already have working 3 buttons only
if their phones came shipped without the 3 buttons combo, it doesn't work.
However this is the standard method for all Galaxy S family that is not part of the I9000 line
so that means Nexus S, USA Vibrant, Verizon, and AT&T captivate... all the ones missing the hard button basically.
so the absolute most effective way is the Homemade USB JIG method
Works!
Great!
hard to believe, but I think I did it......
- I flash back to stock JMK in order to install a clean Overcome 1.4.1, and everything goes fine
- root with SuperOneClickv1.7-ShortFuse
- reboot the phone and apply the patch
- the normal message to reboot pops up on screen
- the Tab doesn't start anymore, it doesn't react even connecting the charger
- (I mention that battery was 80% when I started this operation)
- I did: keep pressing the Power button + vol down + vol up for 15 seconds, keep pressing the Power and touch the screen for 30 seconds
any advice to bring it alive again? thanks in advance !
Send it back to samsung, thats what i did when i briked it and 2th time when i spilled many diffrent luiquids on it. They will fix it in range of 12-18 days.

ok...sorry....maybe I was to stressed:
1. I pressed the Power button + touch the screen for more than 30 seconds (with charger plug and without) = nothing happened, not even battery indication level...
2. I pressed Power button + Vol down = nothing
3. I pressed Power button + Vol UP = same result, nothing
4. I pressed Power Button + Vol UP + Vol Down = same result
5. I press Power button + Home = nothing
what other combination to try more?
BTW - I also opened the TAB and removed and the reconnected back the battery. I measured the power of the battery and seems to be OK = 3,7vDC
that sounds really bad... you probably have to send it to Samsung...
If no one else has an idea what to try :-/
3.7v seems that the battery is below 20%, try charging the batt to an external power supply, then do the steps that you previously mentioned. Good luck!

You might want to report this to chainfire and rotohammer. Still they sternly warned that playing with bootloaders is only sure way to brick the tab.
unfortunately I can't send any PM to @rotohammer! he does disable this obtion!

lucian - the voltage of the battery is stock 3.7 vDC. is also written on the label....the voltage and amperes are two different things! capacity of the battery is 4000mAh.
BTW - before this problem I had removed the charger, and the battery level was 80%..... and also after happening this problem my TAB is connected to the charger.....
you mean, do I have to remove the battery and to try to charge with another power supply?

Yes try to charge the battery till it gets 3.8v...externally i meant, Disconnect the battery from the Tab, then connect the pins from the battery to a 5v power supply. I dont know if this can solve your issue .. but worth a try.

@lucian777 - unfortunately, I already done that. I have a adjustable power supply and I charged separately the battery.....but useless.... I'll send it to service until I don't make more damages.... anyway, thanks for replay !
hm....back again! Last night I received my Tab from Samsung service.... everything comes back to normal! strange thing is there is not any service report.... totally unprofessional job: the cover of screw are scratched...the frame of screen scratched too...really disappointed, but, the main thing is the Tab is alive again.....
would report the state back to sammy about this. its not proveable but atleast you get your say and you never know...
might be interesting thread to start.

Hi all, i have a ZTE blade which i have rooted and flashed CM 7.0 successfully without upgrading the radio to GEN2. I've done this and much more without problems, however today for some reason the phone isnt even powering on. The only thing i did before was installing theft aware 2.0. Note that i dont have a SIM card inserted so it's unlikely that someone have sent a command that turned the phone into a... vegetable.
I tried removing the battery and trying to turn it on, nothing. I tried connecting it to the USB power charger without a battery, still nothing. This phone is supposed to be a birthday gift for my friends 30th birthday, so i'd really appriciate help getting it back to life.
Thanks in advance
EDIT: I've tried the following: with ADB devices the phone dosen't show up.
Trying entering field test mode with VOLUME DOWN + POWER key does not do anything. same result with VOLUME UP + POWER.
Tried different USB cords without success.
Have you tried holding volume up & down together along with the power button. Make sure you have the usb cable connected from the phone to a pc. So long as you have the zte drivers, it should show up in DFU mode in device manager (from what I remember).
I think from there you can flash recovery using fastboot again.
I tried that, nothing happens. Thing is, the phone dosen't give any kind of life signal at all, not even the button backlights turns on during charging. Could it be that it suffers from a hardware defect? Or is there more things i can try?
Yeah sounds like you may have a hardware issue; especially if none of the LEDs flicker on when trying the above.
hmm, ....out of ideas for now fella.
Any news on this?
I am having the exact issue, phone is like a real brick:
- Won't do anything when trying to press power and/or any other buttons one by one or at the same time
- Won't do anything with or without battery
- Won't do anything when pluging it to the USB/Charger, not even a led response
- I've tried with and without sim, with and without sd card, trie everything and still nothing, seems complketely without any kind of life inside. The only thing it does is get heat when you put it to charge with battery
I had it with cyanogen 7, max overclock to 710mhz, min arround 200, and it happened (turned off) 5 minutes after I installed Launcher Pro...
Any ideas?

I actually gave up and sent it in for service which returned me a brand new one. I suspect that ZTE dosen't have much of quality controls since a friend also suffered a case of "true-death" on her unmodified ZTE blade...
Similar issue here. If I press the power button (with or without any combination of other buttons) it just vibrates - no lights, display or sound. Doesn't power on so no fastboot/adb etc. Same behaviour with battery, charger, or both. If I hold the power button the vibration sort of pulses, a vibration every 0.75 seconds or so. I recently opened it up to get dust out from behind the screen, so no warranty :-(
Will ask at the shop what the options are for maybe paying for a repair..

Your issue is different than the one i had, you phone is at least being powered on since its vibrating.
Most likely you broke when you opened it or you simply didn't reassemble it correctly - if i were you i'd do it again and check that all the connectors are connected.
If its a software issue, you can always try TPT - total phone transfer. google it, i read it but didnt try it myself so i cant vouch for how it works.
So few days ago my phone suddenly turned off and kept rebotting itself (It would reach the samsung galaxy logo and then turn off). I thought it was a battery issue so I removed it for 30mins and tried again, worked fine for an hour then problem started again. I left it over night to charge in the wall socket incase.
Same issue next morning and no solution.
I replaced the battery with a friends and the same issue happened on my phone (i used my battery on his and it works fine on his) so I removed the issue of battery itself.
That evening the phone then just stopped responding at all. It would not respond to pressing the power button (no load, no vibration).
Tried entering download mode using vol down + home + power. Nothing. (So cant use Odin)
Tried entering recovery mode using vol up + power. Nothing
Tried hard reset using vol up + power + home. Nothing.
(All the steps I used a fully charged battery from another s4 phone and removed/re-entered before trying again)
So I check online and notice some people having issues with power button, but even if that is the case - wouldn't my phone still charge? I dont even get the battery chargning icon on the screen when plugged in either PC or wall socket.
I opened it up and changed the motherboard with another samsung s4 and my original problem mobo still does not load on the new s4. (My new mobo worked on the old device though).
The ONLY response I got was when I used my original mobo on new s4 device and plugged it into PC, it popped connect and then disconnect sound and thats it (doesnt recognize usb port).
What are my options apart from getting another motherboard or going to a shop for a JTAG repair? I was contemplating just removing the power button and seeing if that helps in getting a charge response lol
Well your power button is broken for sure. Replace it and then test it.

It always takes a few seconds before it starts to charge. So maybe the device reboots before reaching the charging phase. I'm guessing though. But since your problems started with power button issues it would be the logic place to start.
The part only costs a few dollars.
Well I'm exactly in the same situation as you, since this morning on a i9505 running JFLTPE-GPE 5.0 ROM. The screen appears for 1 second or 2 (Samsung logo) then it powers off . I need to remove the battery to try something else.
Same behaviour, even for recovery mode, so Odin is not an option.
I thought that changing some kernel settings have caused that, but as I just put them back to default values, it should not happen.
I didn't have some power button issues, it was just powered off at my wake up this morning. In your case, does your phone vibrate and power up instantly when you put the battery ? That's the case for me, but it should not be the normal.
My problem is actually solved : indeed, it was the power button. I removed all the screws and played a little with this power button (air dust, etc...), enough to make it start correctly !
I managed to do some backups, and now I hope that it won't break again.

Yeah, that happened before (automatically powering up, vibrating, going to samsung logo and then shutting down and doing it again until I removed battery - putting the battery back in with start it up without pressing the power button).
When it was in that phase, the one thing that did work was doing a soft reset (home+power+down vol, and then holding just power) - however that only worked for like an hour before it went back to the restart phase.
However now it doesn't respond to anything at all. (Any kind of response I got was when I put that mobo in another s4 and plugged in usb, which just gave a connected/disconnect sound on w7, no life on the phone itself).
Be very careful as to what you do, I suggest you do NOT leave the battery on it and charge it (which was the last thing I did before it went unresponsive) - my guess is phone went haywire trying to turn on/off continously.
Hello All,
Yesterday I dropped my phone and the power button got stuck. I opened the phone with my tools and was able to fix the button. I didn't power it off, I didn't think it was needed since the button itself has nothing to do with the electronics inside. While I was closing its back It suddenly turned off. I was very gentle, didn't do any fast or unsafe moves. Since then the phone shows no sign of life. I plugged the phone the my pc but there wasn't any sign of life either. The phone didn't show up on Device Manager or anywhere else. One time, I heard a connection sound but I am not even sure if it was because of the phone since the sound came like 5 minutes after I plugged in the phone.
I already tried pressing all 3 buttons for a long time but it didn't do anything.
So what do you think? What might have caused it? And can you help me?
Thanks
First thing i would do is tear down and disconect/conect the battery flat. After that, hold volume keys while conect to pc usb and see if you can get edl mode. Than flash all that has to be flashed with miflash and edltools.
