Home Button Wear? - Samsung Galaxy Note FE Questions & Answers

How is everyone's home button holding up after all these years?

Hey, mine is doing pretty fine. Comparing to the backside fingeprint sensor of OPPO N2 and the touchID of iPhone8, it is vastly superior to the OPPO's, which is tbh an older device, and is quite comparable to the iPhone8. Just sometimes it needs a second effort to login in. Other than, no stickiness, mushiness or anything out of the ordinary.

S4 Home Button quality

So, before I begin. I'll just say that I used to have a Galaxy Ace quite a while ago and the home button in that started acting up within the first 8 months. I had to start pressing it harder to get the response.
Skip 2 years and I'm back to my GS4 with the same physical home button. I'm a little scared to press it all the way in fear that it may end up like the Ace. So, is the home button strong enough? or do i actually have to press a little lightly.
I've been flashing ROMs quite a lot and pressing the home button alot to enter recovery and stuff so I'm a little scared. Now I have the feeling that that when i half press the home button i hear a sound, or thats just me
check the videos on youtube you will see
Build quality is generally terrible.
I dropped my s4 once from a height of only 30cm & now the home button doesn't feel right.
It feels misaligned.
Not sure about this. I had the Galaxy S2 for close to two years and it was fine.
The galaxy s series should have superior build quality as compared to the Ace, the Ace series was the budget series hence it makes sense it's build quality is not nearly as good.

One week with the M8, my thoughts

After a week of owning the One M8 I am pretty happy with it, I'd say very happy actually. Not fair, but the comparisons are against my previous phone, the Galaxy S4. I was heavily considering the S5 on ATT, but ATT is screwing S5 owners, no root, and doubtful ever to see custom recovery for ROM's.
Pros;
- Screen is awesome, very crisp and sharp, with realistic colors, looks extremely detailed. After my S4's AMOLED, this is a refreshing change. Plus outdoors it looks night and day better than the S4 screen.
- Crazy smooth fast. The M8 is Star Trek warp speed fast compared to the S4 which would be current rocket technology fast. Plus TW on the S4 would lag or pause for a second or two in some apps, never get anything like that on the M8.
- Sense 6 is very nice, compared to Touchwiz, it looks more professional, nice Black / White / Blue theme and design to Sense 6, more of a minimalistic look. I still think stock Android is the best, but Sense 6 is a very close second. And Touchwiz is last place of all UI's to me.
- Battery life on the M8 is off the charts AMAZING, I mean like really good, maybe even 50% better then my S4. This thing almost lasts as long as my old Note 2 battery.
- Speakers, I wasn't ever really looking for great speakers in a cell phone before, never thought about it. But wow these are crazy good, loud and very clear sound. YouTube videos and music sound awesome. Really wasn't expecting to like the speakers as much as I do.
- Development friendly, I am rooted, custom Recovery, S-Off, and running a custom stock ROM. And I have the option to install the GPE ROM of the M8, so can always be on the latest Android OS if I want for years now.
Cons;
- Heavy weight, not a fan of the heavier feel of this M8, compared to my old S4 which was feather light. The S4 in gym shorts was barely noticeable, where the M8 feels like a brick.
- Curved back not cool, I like flat backs on a phone, to rest on a desk, and use it while laying down on the table. Can't really do that with the M8. I like a small thin flat case around my phone, not curved.
- Accessories, not nearly as many cases available for the M8, as there are for the iPhone or Galaxy line.
- LED Notification light on the S4 is better, bigger and brighter. The M8 has this tiny little flashing dot hiding inside the speaker grille.
- Not waterproof like the new S5, which would be nice.
Overall I really like this M8, just need to find that right case. But the S5 still looks nice too, but with no root and no ROM's for the S5 that is a big deal for me. I couldn't handle a stock carrier version S5 with no customization or option to debloat it. But the lighter feel, and flat back is nice for the S5.
At the end of the day there is no perfect phone. I think a combination of the S5 + M8 = perfect phone. Sense 6 + S5 screen + metal design in the shape of the old smaller S4 size + waterproof. Then I woke up

Thanks for your post man.
I have the S4 and I don't like it because of the plastic and now with knox I can't root/flash roms anymore so my phone just idles most of the time..
Also I had a problem where the adhesive between the LCD and screen started coming loose, in my pocket, Samsung won't replace it, I even contacted them directly but they said ANY damage to the screen is not under warranty, although the warranty booklet says something else.
Also my screen got scratched in the service center (see pic).
Originally I was deciding between the S4 and the original One, but went with the S4 because "everybody" was rocking one, well I don't know why Samsung devices are so popular, in my opinion they are okay, but not worth the money at release.
I'm getting the M8 tomorrow! I'll post my thoughts as well.
Btw, as someone who does take some photos, will I be disappointed by the camera? The S4 is 100% good enough for me, I actually even prefer my Lumia 800 camera because of the bokeh and feel.
Agree With almsot everything. though I put the HTC logo/bar and horrible sleep button in the cons.

Yeah that's probably the only thing that I don't really like on this phone, the LED notification. If it wasn't for the good speakers telling you a notification came in you'd never notice it until you unlock the phone again for whatever reason.
Not the worst thing in the world though.
As for the waterproof, I did see some videos on youtube where they tossed in water and it held up nice enough even though it isn't officially rated as "waterproof". I won't test it out on my own though...:cyclops:

I hardly notice the bar anymore...
I also got pretty used to where all the buttons are regardless of the fact that I don't usually press the power button to turn of the screen, just leave it to auto lock. :good:
The only thing that annoys me about the M8 is the position of the headphone jack, why oh why did HTC change, it was perfectly fine where it was, Asides from that it's a brilliant phone and worthy contender for phone of the year 2014, although the new One plus one looks a beast and amazing price, but the build quality and boom sound should win it for HTC again.

This is definitely something I agree with, the "horrible sleep button" part. I've run my finger over it a few times, and it noticeably sways in place. If you press the edge of your nail on one side of the button, the other side slides upwards, and it just doesn't sit still and feels very loose. Absolutely HATE it. It's going to be hard going for another phone after the M8 though, unless it has similar "Motion Launch Gestures". Even though it's more of just a usage convenience, I'm almost addicted to how great it is to turn the phone on by just tapping on the screen.
Also, the curved back actually feels pretty nice in the hand, but I'd probably like it more if it had a flat back too. That, and if it was less slippery (though I'm trying to look around for a good skin to put on the back so it won't be as slippery). Also, I wish there was like some kind of a separator between the volume up/down buttons (either a gap or a little elevated line), and that you could put a lock screen widget onto your, uhh...home lock screen. Right now, it always open to the default HTC lock screen (unless I'm being stupid and missing something. If someone can point me in the direction of changing that, I'd be really glad), but those are kinda tiny nitpicks.
Not really waterproof but still "waterspray" proof (ip x3).
The S5 is just protected against temporarly in water dives, the Z2 permanent.
Also... the M8 survived 30+ minutes inside a water bowl. and nothing happened on it.
In any halfway realistic scenario, the ip 58/67 will have zero difference. Noone throws his phone into a swimming pool tbh, or goes diving with it.
If i would ever go diving, and wanting to shoot those rare awesome pictures, i would get a professional camera for these moments.
Is the One M8 " water spray proof ". If so that's cool. Would that mean protection against rain drops or light mist ?

I just replaced my M8, my other one had a loose power button and good volume keys.(wasn't the reason I had it replaced). This one has a perfect power button. Like really. I've never felt a power button this perfect before. And the loosest volume keys ever.... Sigh.
This power button though... There's like no give side to side until you press it. I'm actually amazed.

Just under a week with mine. So far I'm extremely happy I left Samsung in the dust. Build quality, feel of the phone in hand, display and speed all trump my past 3 phones. Only fault I can give it is the power button. It still boggles my mind as to why it wasn't placed on the left or on the side and volume keys moved to the other side.
I love that HTC decided to reintroduce external memory and they can be forgiven for not giving us hot swapping of memory/sim cards.
Also after being with Samsung for 3 years I'm glad to see HTC is still developer friendly

I agree with your weight comment. I have a Seidio surface with kickstand case (blue is beautiful, the pictures don't show you the wonderful pearlescent finish, which really pops), a glass screen protector and this unit is HEAVY compared to my feather light S2. Sound was the key driver of my purchase. I bought my wife an M7 for her birthday and have lusted after her speakers ever since. This in my mind outweighed the lackluster camera. The screen is great, but the great thing about this LCD springs from how bad my AMOLED S2 screen was. It has severe screen burn in issues. I was always babying it and worried about turning it off, now with LCD I can use on screen alerts if I want, and leave my screen on for as long as I want.
You are right about KNOX. That killed ANY Samsung product for me. Even though I hate begging mommy HTC to give me a code to unlock the device I just paid them $750 for, KNOX is orders of magnitude worse. These are our devices, period. I guess if you live in the dying empire, addicted to an ever deepening credit spiral, carriers may have the right to somehow control the device, and your behaviour, until the end of the contract. However, those of us who do flash occasionally know a new ROM really gives an old device renewed vigour, so the ability to do to our devices whatever we wish is an absolute must over the typical contract period of two years.
Just a slight correction, I don't believe GPE will give updates for an eternity (the impossible to service battery, 2/10 iFixit score tells all you need to know about the inevitable end of life of our device). The GPE ROM update is still provided by HTC, so we are, I believe, at their mercy for however long they see fit to officially support the device.
Only thing that's quite awfull for me is the muscle ache in left arm after holding it in my hand in the morning, cause it's much heavier than my old SGS3

Erm. The power button would definitely have a better home on the left side (and it feels really loose on mine, so that bothers me too), but the volume keys are on the right side because if you hold your phone normally, in portrait, you can press them with your thumb. Having owned an iPhone 5 as my previous phone before this one, I did get used to the placement of the volume keys on the left (as just getting used to it is what every one of these "why is button X in position Y" complaints can be explained away with), but I think it's better this way overall. I mean, sure, you can use the volume keys with your pointer or middle finger(s), but using the thumb's easier (at least I think so, and I reckon a lot of other people do too).

Yeah I also like the volume keys where they are. I hold the phone in my right hand so it's much easier, only problem for me though... I'm not entirely used to it yet, I tend to press the volume down button on a frequent basis by accident, it doesn't help that the volume keys are so sensitive either but like you mentioned, it just takes some getting used to. Though I'm not saying that sensitive volume rockers are a bad thing, I think it's awesome...
Power button, they probably could have put it where the SDCard slot is and you could quickly turn it off with just a thumb slide but, I also like it where it's at now so. It's out of the way and prevent continious accidental locks while you're busy, which I can easily see happening if you take into consideration that I still accidentally press the volume down button
I don't really understand the complaints though, if they pick up the device they could unlock it with power button almost instantly before they even manouvre it into their hand for use...Else what's wrong with a quick swipe from the bottom to top to take you to last screen worked in? For the turning off...well if you're going to put it down anyways what difference does it make HOW you press the button, the thing is going on the table anyways and if you're lazy and read with the device flat on the surface you'll end up pressing the power button from the front side(Device facing up) with an index finger anyways...
Oh well, to each his own I suppose.
Like I said though the only MAJOR complaint I have is with the darn LED notification. Perhaps if they could just have increased the size of the LED slightly so that it could shine through more grill holes it would have been better but it's effectively a single grill hole notification with hard to notice colors on the LED in some instances. :silly: It's fine though the speakers make up for it somehow by clearly and loudly notifying you of an incoming mail, message etc so...

Yeah, a fair argument someone could bring up to me that I fully agree with is that the volume buttons are a bit too sensitive, and I accidentally press them a lot too. Again, I wish they were separated a bit (don't really like them being one unified strip), and were a bit more rigid. I can change the volume on the M8 without making almost any noise, but I'd take some noise when pressing the volume buttons as opposed to accidentally pressing them all the time (which is extra annoying seeing as my headset controls don't seem to work, at least not in PowerAmp).
Agree about the volume buttons. The amount of times a notification goes off and I thought I had it on silent/ vibrate.

6 months in....... Still addicted!

I've got to hand it to HTC. I used to change my phone every 2-3 months tops, getting bored with every offering out there. I've had all the flagships one can imagine, yet I haven't changed my phone for the past 6 months now, and what's worse, I don't think I will change it before the 'M9' comes out. The M8 is simply the best device I've ever owned bar none. Build, usability, reliability, the list goes on and on..... Even the slight curve on the back of the device allows for incredible handling. It's like they've mastered every detail. Negatives? like everything in life, yeah. The power button is on top and not on the side and is hard to reach. The battery life could be better. The bezels could be thinner. The finishing (loose volume rockers, sim trays, etc) could be better on some devices. But these are issues available (along with a catalog of others) on MANY if not all other devices. I bought a Z3 a few weeks back and it didn't last a few days before I sent it packing. The only thing about that device was the battery life, it was unbelievable. But the ageing M8 still trumps it overall.
Am I the only one addicted to the M8?
One man's negative is another man's positive. Hated the power button on the side of my Note II. Always inadvertently hitting it putting screen to sleep. Much prefer on top.
Otherwise agreed. Hands down best android handset I've owned to date.

Actually a feature that I(Personally) am not to thrilled about. It's a great idea but it's overly sensitive, if you clean the screen the screen comes on and you delete an app on homescreen or place hangouts into a grouped folder with whatever else. Removes the clock widget...just does random nonsense because for reason cleaning the screen(Without lifting your hand) equates "double tapping". It started to annoy the hell out of me until I eventually disabled it.
Using the power button is only a fraction of a second longer and makes no real difference, especially if you constantly need to double tap when you actually need it in order to unlock the phone or... turn it a bit sideways first in order to get out of hibernation so taht the sensors work correctly in order to wake on tap. Annoying as hell, for me personally, it's a great idea gone awfully wrong pretty quickly.
Other than that, I have no issues with the phone really(Camera is a given but I don't use camera often so...) and I'm very happy months after receiving it.
i dunno, i had a at&t m8 over the summer and i loved it. now that i have the tmobile variant it just seems buggy as hell to me. gonna hold onto it until the m9 comes.
no need to use the top power button.

Agree, I use the app Screen Off. Does the same thing and adds some cool looking animations when you turn your screen off. I get a lot of "WOW that was cool, how'd you do that" comments when my friends see it in action. I rarely use my power button now but I like the location because my Vivid's was in the same place. I agree that the double tap to unlock is a bit sensitive but I still use and like it a lot.
I've still not found that very annoying thing about this phone and I don't think I will since I've had it for 3 months now. This phone rocks

This is even cooler if you use Nova launcher as you can set it to turn off the screen by double tapping anywhere on your homescreen. Saves having to scroll to find the icon. And yes the CRT-off animation is cool.

Don't need to scroll to find the icon just swipe up from the home button up. :good:
I like the zoom out animation. I used CRT off too and is another favorite but I switch it about once a week.

It actually opened screen when it was lying flat on back, but anyways. Appreciate the tip but I'll hold off on that DT2UL for now. Like I said, pressing the power button isn't an effort at all it's rather fast and easy so...
I'm sure they'll improve more and more on those double tap to unlock but it's not something that I'm too concerned with myself. :good: :highfive:
It's a very handy feature IMO and saves wearing out the power button. Also ScreenOff app to lock the phone.

That's true of course. I just don't know about constantly tapping the screen, won't that also inevitably cause some issues with the touch screen? All that constant "shock" to the screen?
I actually think the Dot View case is better in that regard. It uses a magnet to unlock the screen. The magnet is in all the HTC one M8 phones so why can't all the flip covers at least have a magnet in place to automatically unlock the device once the cover is opened? Much more simpler, no more hitting power button to unlock, no more tapping screen to unlock.
Of course it'll be a different story for people that don't have flip covers for their phones but still.
I only use the power button to "wake" the device when needed, I usually just put it one side and let it lock/sleep on its own. So at least I'm "halfing" my use of the power button :silly:

I might be one of the few who doesn't mind the power button being on the top. but i have long fingers. At least they put it on the right side this time. Also Please dear lord, don't make those bezels smaller. It's hard enough as it is with these thin as hell bezels. I'll say this is a trend I'm gonna hate in 2015.

What's 'hard' with the thin bezels? It makes the footprint of the phone smaller. The only downside I could see is that it might be easier to shatter the screen if it's too close to the edges. But I'd take that for a smaller device.
As for DT2W being a replacement to the power button........ No Thanks. I don't like that feature one bit. First of all, it's a battery drain. The panel is always 'on' and waiting for input from the user. Secondly, it's way too sensitive. I constantly used to find the screen on when I carry my phone.
It takes literally a tenth of a second to push the power button. No need for tapping the screen. Just put it on the side next time please! Even Apple got it right with the iPhone 6 because they know it's too big to have a button on top, it's out of reach. Come on HTC, I'm sitting here saying you SHOULD COPY APPLE. That's how BAD I want this

Dt2w is not a battery drain on phones that designed the system to run it, like the M8 and G2. Yes, it's a huge drain on devices that the features been cooked into the kernel, like the N5, by our awesome devs here.
Anyway, I usually get 8 hours+ screen time with my setup and usage... And I've tried disabling Dt2w and the rest, not noticeable difference in battery life.
Not for me anyway. ?

Yep M8 like G2, OPO, iPhone have an extra processor to handle motion gestures etc, so there won't be any real extra drain on battery.

8 hours on the M8??? I usually have 4, or maximum 5 hours if I set the brightness at around 25-30%. I know it's offtopic but a few tips would be appreciated to boost battery life!

Look at this page on a browser and go the the battery help thread in my signature. Post 2.
If you want help there, see post 1 and 4 and post the recommended screen shots. Lots of help there.
It's an N5 thread, but that's fine, just mention you have an M8.
I do everything from post 2. But my usage versus yours could be very different. So screen time will always vary. ?
My average screen time in Gsam at the bottom is well over 8 hours... 22total.
---------- Post added at 09:18 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:17 AM ----------
5 hours could be completely normal for you depending on your usage.

The smaller bezels make it harder for me to type, and even harder to hit the edges of the screen. I use a case to protect my device. I don't drop my phone or anything, but there's always a chance of it sliding out my jacket pocket. The edges of the display are no man's land.

Is it just me home button feels low quality?

Hi, everyone
Home button in s7 edge , I just feel low quality...
First of all he prominent outside, And When I press the button I feel it is not High Quality...
It feels like a little loose and not steady and strong.
Incidentally new device... I tend to believe that everyone is like that
My question is, is it felt the same for you?
Thanks :good::good:
I see this crop up all the time.
IMO i think the button is fine, Its no more of a button i have seen on any other device.
The Iphone has a Sunken Home button, Press it and wiggle your thumb and you get play. (About as much as the S7)
I suppose with any moving part you will always get play, If there is no play, there is friction, if there is friction there is wear and tear.
I feel this crops up a little more, as the first impression or thought is, This is waterproof and if the button has play
Is the home button still water tight.
Yes
This button is very usable, actually is of poor quality...
It's really a shame...
Button feels like it came out of his place in a moment.
I would be happy for more comments / opinions

Its solid but personally I would prefer a capacitive Home button on the S8(E).
Elephone have a great implementation of one on their P9000 (which I had).
My dislike is more with the fact that one has to physically depress the Home or Power button to wake the phone.
Other than that, all good.
Tbh I think it feels "loose" because it sits on top of the water resistance layer and sprung contact point. My home button feels slightly loose but I think it's a good thing to a point as it can take a beating too. Remember the nokias that seemed cheap but actually could survive a nuke lol

[MINI REVIEW] Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Pros and Cons

I got my Xiaomi Mi Max 2 five days ago. I unlocked the bootloader, rooted the device and installed weekly XIAOMI.EU rom to the device (according to this guide). I am very happy with the purchase. My previous device was Oneplus One, which was destroyed by dropping it to the ground. I was very happy with Oneplus One. I was kind of looking into buying Oneplus 5, but decided that it is not really worth the price. Here I am going to list some of the the software and hardware pros and cons of Xiaomi Mi Max 2:
Pros:
Good Screen. 1080p is the right resolution for this size of screen. 6.44 inch could be the perfect size for me, even if my hands are fairly small. It is also enough bright in direct sunlight of southern Germany and enough dark in the night. The auto brightness seems to work fairly well.
Battery life is amazing and it charges quickly.
Camera is pretty good. Only complains are frequent refocusing and low mic volume during video recording (perhaps can be fixed by software update).
Quality to price ratio is amazingly high.
Software seems fairly stable and has a lot of features. There are many features that help using the device with one hand. However, it is too risk to use it with one hand without protective cover (unless you are a World class finger acrobat).
Fingerprint reader works good. I can use it to unlock screen. I can also lock some of the apps such as gmail, which can be unlocked with another tap. This is very useful, when giving phone to kids. They can use only the apps of my choice.
The device does not get too warm. I don't play games, but some other devices, such as, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 got really hot even doing simple tasks.
Loud stereo speakers.
Snapdragon 625 is hated and loved by some. I personally think that it is an excellent processor. It has enough speed, does not overheat or throttle. Makes battery life almost immortal.
Cons:
Easy to muffle the speaker on the bottom with the holding hand.
4G support is lacking, however, it worked well in simple web browsing in Munich, Germany.
No Xposed (just like in all Nougat devices).
I could not find any way to toggle flashlight, when screen is off. In Oneplus One, I used Xposed Torch to toggle the flashlight by pressing volume up button for a couple of seconds. It is very uncomfortable for eyes in the night to have to first unlock screen and then press buttons to start the torch.
Battery saving seems quite aggressive (is also a pro). However, most apps seem to work after you disable it for them. However, flashlight widget, Skype and Hangouts do not work for some reason, even if I disabled battery optimizations and enabled autostart for them. I tried wifi and network.
Sometimes the fingerprint scanner stops working. I need to input the password to make it work again. This happens randomly without restart.
Because the device is not sold in Europe, I did not get protective cover yet.
Charger does not have EU-plug, so I have to use converter until I get another charger that I ordered separately.
As expected, it is very difficult to use the device with one hand. However, I think that the immersive experience of the big screen outweighs the cons.
Capacitive buttons on the bottom have fairly narrow area to press. It takes some time to get used to their locations.
Fingerprint scanner location is not good. Front would be the best, so the device would not have to be lifted from table. Even having the scanner lower would make more sense. Reaching to it with one hand ain't a simple task.
The size makes it difficult to fit to pocket. Well can't really expect anything else.
As a summary, there are some cons, but I guess most of them can be fixed with software update. Awesome device.
*Update: I managed to fix Skype by giving all permissions from settings. Hangouts still does not work. It is even that bad that I have to restart phone, when I try to make call. The mentioned fingerprint scanner stopping working bug starts to get to my nerves. It happens very often. It can happen even by pressing power button and immediately trying to unlock with fingerprint scanner.
*Update: Fingerprint scanner stopping bug disappeared. I do not know the reason. Perhaps, I changed some setting, uninstalled some app or somehow having a protective cover helps. I have not seen it happening in several days.
*Update: I have a new protective cover for the device (https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B071CXRY9V/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I fear now much less that it is going to break, but it does not have as much protection as my Spigen cover for Oneplus One had.
*Update: I installed style ring (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/360...s-Samsung-HUAWEI-Smart-Phone/32801740801.html) and pop socket (also from Aliexpress, but not on sale anymore) to the back of the cover. In addition, I installed Floating Menu to reach most used function easily (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ksxkq.floating). Now I can use the phone for most of tasks with one hand. Looks kind of ridiculous but who cares.
thank you.
i am gonna waiting for the black EU version ... put on it a rugged case and you have a perfect immortal(battery...) phone

Not sure if you mentioned it but do you have the Chinese version or the global/international version? From what I understand the global version should be more stable.
I have Chinese version. Global was not published when I bought the device.
On my nexus phones, if I dont use the phone for more than 4 hours, the device needs pin or patter unlock , even if fingerprint is setup, for added security. Maybe they added this in MIUI that you are running on Max2 (it is not available on latest beta/global miui for max 1). Just saying...

Hmm, not sure what nexus device you're using (I have a nexus 6P) and the only situations it still asks for your pin/pattern in addition to your fingerprint are
1) When you unlock the phone for the first time after it's been rebooted
2) 48 hours after you last unlocked it using your pin/pattern
3) Your fingerprint isn't recognized after multiple tries
4) You switched to a different user on the device
To your point, it shouldn't do this after only 4 hours. It should take one of the other conditions listed above or 48 hours before it asks you for your pin again.
The 'bug' with the fingerprint scanner not working until you input your password is due to false reads. If it fails your fingerprint 5 times in a row, it will lock and only allow password input. The Xiaomi Mi Max 2's fingerprint reader is pretty sensitive, so it's very easy to set it off even 5 times just while putting it in your pocket. With a protective cover, the reader is a little bit more recessed so it doesn't happen so often.
Thanku for the true review, I'm going to buy this next week., It's being launched in India on 18th July..
I'm bit scared about its big size.. how does it feel for handling.?

Make no mistake it's a big phone. I have fairly long fingers but I still find the phone large but I love it. You should watch some videos on youtube where people test the size of the phone putting it in their pockets. That will be a bigger issue. If you wear normal jeans you should be fine but if you wear tight/skinny jeans you may only be able to fit the phone in your back pocket.
But if you can get beyond the size it's a great phone.
It is big but I have zero regrets about buying the device. I can use it with one hand for most tasks with the style ring mentioned at the end of the review. However, the other hand is occasionally needed. Typing with the keyboard is much more accurate than with smaller devices. Battery is amazing. Only once during the 3 weeks that I owned the device, I went below 50 % battery. That time I went to 40% battery with about 8 hours screen on time.
Thanku so much

I just checked Xiaomi's official website (Indian and Chinese). None of them mentioned Gorilla Glass, so maybe it does not have it, as you said.
Okay thanku.. then I think I should wait for Redmi note 5, until that launchs I should switch for Redmi note 4.. as both Max 2 and note 4 are similar except display size and camera technology
1. You can start the torch from lockscreen if you push the home button. (Press power button to turn on screen, then press home button)
2. I took some photos of my black max 2 if you want to see: https://m.imgur.com/a/uEvMU
Really nice review! Might get one myself from geekbuyng.
It's not a big phone, it's a huge phone! I'm using the original model and it's hard to hold without a case. I would put on a rugged case and that style ring to make it easier to hold and use the phone. I'm jealous of you guys getting crazy long battery life
