Ok, so I got this tablet for the kid a couple years ago and now that she's getting older, I realize there's an issue. When Facebook messenger, Hangouts, etc. calls come in there is no ring sound, despite the "ringtone" volume being turned up. So... This is a WiFi-only tablet... Would that possibly mean the ROM just doesn't support such a thing? It makes the thing a lot less useful. I can't even get it to make sound when I do the Google "Find my Phone: deal, which I would really like to be able to do, being that the thing is constantly misplaced. So, would anyone here have any idea what I could do to get the thing to ring? Thanks for your help, I appreciate it very much.

First of all, great job on the special edition ROM. Maybe I don't get why we in general would all want to calculate sun positions or use some of the other zillion apps, but hey... it's still more stable and largely better working than the OEM crap.
However... the blinking message light you can set for SMS, at least for me, doesn't act happy any longer. It certainly will turn on but not off after you read a message. Anybody else have this problem? It also sucks (casually unrelated) that there is no audible repeat notification that a call or SMS was missed. My cheapo $20 Motorola has that feature working great!
Also, my GPRS connection is dead. Don't know where to go on that, it worked after I set everything after the ROM update... for about two hours. Since then, no dice. It'll probably be difficult to get T-Mobile to troubleshoot it considering that it's not really their ROM anymore...
Thanks for any insights!

Indeed, some bugs exist. I also notice that SMS notified flash light can NOT turn off after I read a message. I try a dozen of times, still can't find a solution. So I just disable that function.
Another odd problem, I set the sound for missed call. The funny thing is, the "missed call" tone immediately comes after the "ring tone" if I don't pick up the call. Sadly, the "missed call" tone doesn't repeat any more. How do I really know I got a missed call? :x
try this

try this one: MY|PHONE|PROFILES
it resolves some problems you listed[/url]
So NOBODY cares? No audible missed call notifications...
I have all the latest and greatest, thanks to you guys, mainly XDA-Developers and Jeff!!!
Still, no audible reminders of missed calls or unchecked SMS. Despite searching around all over, can't find any software to make up for this lacking feature.
What's up? No solution? Nobody cares/doesn't mind checking their phones for missed calls and such?

Does the phone still work I mean can you place a call?
Also where are you located?
Yea the phone works fine, it's just how all these are. I've tested four of them, they ALL do it. You miss a call, get voice mail, whatever. There is no provision to get repeated audible notifications like you can on any regular cell phone.
The best you can do is have the light continue blinking at increased intervals.
I've used 3.16, 4.00.5, 4.0016, and now 4.00.11. Same thing on all of them. Radio is now 6.24, was 6.18. Was same thing.
I don't think it's a bug, but a lacking feature.
I'm in the U.S.
Why, can you turn repeating audible notifications of a missed call on?
I agree that both 6.24 and 6.18 are lame and thats why I'm using AT&T's Radio Stack version A.20.10.
Sorry never heard of a repeating audible notification for missed calls though but you might want to take a look at the below programs:

Guys,
When using the on screen dialer I have to wait for the phone to catchup with me, I can't just tap the numbers in quickly - is there a tweak to get around this? I donb't want to turn off the sound effect/tone as I use tone dialing a lot during banking calls etc.
Cheers, Ash
Actually, if you turn off the tone sounds, it still works to send tones, you just don't hear them...and its a million times faster. I did it two weeks ago only and I am much happier now!
Many thanks, just done that and problem cured - what a stupid design flaw in the OS though! Why do they spend such little time and effort on Pocket PC, pathetic really...
Hi, I own a G1 at the moment and I'm going to be buying my Nexus one in the UK soon.
Can anyone who has previously owned a G1 give me some sort of comparison on volume levels ? The ring and notification volume on the G1 is very quite and I'm wondering if this has been improved on the Nexus at all ?
Also, I use ringolite to control a couple of different ringtones for different contacts. Does anyone know of any method that will allow you to set custom notification tones for emails from different people ?
Thanks in advance.
Different ringtones for different contacts are built into Android 2.1, so I'm pretty sure you won't need ringolite anymore. Couldn't find anything to change notification sounds on e-mail on a per-contact basis though and I haven't seen an app that could do that, but maybe someone else has?
Thanks for the reply, that's good with the different ringtones. i'm still wondering about the volume difference between the g1 and the nexus though if anyone can help with that.

I actually owned a g1 and now i have a nexus and can pretty much confirm that the sound is much much louder on the nexus. its quite good unlike the g1 where you cant feel it vibrate or even hear it when in your pocket!!!
great ! That's just what I wanted to hear The g1 is sooo quite haha. Thanks. Also, I don' tknow how I did that double post as I wasn't even here !
I would have to disagree and say the phone is almost impossible to hear when its in your pocket.
The big problem for me is the tiny speaker on the back of the phone. Lying the phone down on any sort of soft surface..or even hard..semi mutes that speakers sound. I miss tons of calls because of it.
Hi,
I have a couple of questions regarding the Legend's vibrator.
First of all, I would like it to vibrate when receiving a SMS only when in vibration mode. So far, all I can find in the settings is the option to either vibrate or not, no matter what profile is used. Am I missing something, or do I need an app that has further settings?
Second, I think the vibrator is a bit loud, and would love to be able to set the intensity. The first day after I bought my Legend, I was in a meeting with just two other people in a small office, and when my phone rang (vibrated) it attracted quite some attention because it was so loud. Again, am I missing where to change this, or do I need an app?
I tried searching the Market for an app to control vibration settings to address both or even just one of these issues, but didn't find anything useful. The closest was Smart Vibrator, which lets me compose vibration patterns for SMS as well as calls, which could solve issue #2 by doing a pattern of very brief vibrations - but it's still not exactly what I am looking for. Have anyone come across something more useful?

How are others finding the vibrate function? Good? Bad? Weak? Strong?
Coming from a Palm Pre, one of the frustrating aspects was a weak vibrator; causing me to miss notifications of calls, txts, emails, etc.
Hey all,
I just got my RMA device, which overall is a great improvement over my current nexus 4. The problem I literally just started to encounter while testing it all out is sound not working. Youtube was working fine, sound and all, then I installed a few more apps (harmless ones that I had on the other phone, and are well known and trusted). Now the sound flat out will not work on youtube, or through the google play stream. I can select ring tones fine, and the examples play, so it seems that the speakers work.... Tried playing fruit ninja, no sound. I'm pretty baffled, but also a huge noob at android, so I might be missing some stupid simple?
Any advice or help is greatly appreciated.
ETA: Apparently the speakers only work when it comes to listening to ring tones, and the noise made when raising or lowering the volume of the ringer. Other than that, I'm getting jack **** for sound. Appears the mic doesn't work either, as when I talk into the google search or the talk to text, it does absolutely nothing but tell me to talk into the mic, then tells me to tap to talk since it didn't pick anything up. Guess I've got another RMA coming, and of course all the problems that were fixed with this RMA will be back again, probably along with a ****ed up yellow screen. **** you, Google. **** you, LG. I've never had such ****ty buying experiences.
Bump because I'm utterly confused.
The sound/mic work but it seems to only last a short time. I had left the RMA phone off all night, turned it on, and lo and behold, the sound works. So did the mic, it would pick up everything I said when pushing the google search mic icon. Decided to try out youtube, put on a two minute video, which had sound. 3/4 of the way through the video, the video stuttered, buffered, and the sound was gone. Mic no longer picked up anything I said. Annoyance was had.
Turn the phone off AGAIN, leave it off for a few hours. Come back to see if I can even call people, if the mic is not working. Click the google search mic icon to test it out, there is sound and it picks up my voice. Try out an 8 minute video this time, sound works fine (maybe a little quiet) until the ~6 minute mark, then cuts out again! I decide to try a call, since the mic is no longer picking up my voice when I do google voice search. I call my old cdma phone, put it on speaker, and speak into it. I can hear myself clearly through the cdma phone, no problem. I end the call, and lo and behold, sound again!
I am completely baffled as to this issue. Is it a hardware problem? Is it a software problem? Anyone with lots of experience have any theories? I have no idea whether I need an RMA or some sort of software update. As of right now Im' running the phone as I got it, I did a factory reset this morning. Last night when the sound was cutting off, it had the OTA and numerous apps installed/updated.
