one question, should be simple enough to answer i hope. if i get the unlock code to unlock the bootloader will it wipe my phone? the process i think i will use:
plug in factory cable
boot into AP fastboot
Fastboot OEM Unlock
Flash Clockwork Mod Recovery (for the sake of gaining ADB access)
reboot into clockwork mod
enter adb command (adb pull /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db c:\
examine the settings file
adb shell
sqlite3 /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
update secure set value=1 where name='mobile_data';
reboot phone normally
enter google credentials to authenticate using mobile data.
my question is, will unlocking the bootloader using fastboot oem unlock wipe my phone? my goal is simply to enable mobile data so google creds will authenticate. mobile data and wifi are both disabled, usb debugging is not enabled, the phone is completely stock and not rooted, and the bootloader is locked.

I would assume it will wipe. Does so on the ultra.
Get root via saferoot & backup w/ safestrap. You can restore with ss which will be uneffected by the ul.

Sounds legit to me. You're trying to access a phone that's been locked, by using an unauthorized BL unlock. Yeah, I'm not going to support any info for you on this. Oh, thread reported too.
no, data is not encrypted. truth? none of anyones concern honestly but the owner of this phone is recently deceased, the family needs access to the data on his phone and know his google creds so they may figure out their financial situation and contact people who have left texts and voicemails etc. my goal is not to gain access to the phone, however to let the family access the phone. post reported? owell, i have another phone of the exact same model, i guess i can answer my own question in due time, just waiting on the factory cable to arrive in the mail. i hope it doesnt wipe the phone when i type the command to unlock the bootloader

Well, you can't unlock the BL on the M like that if not's a dev edition, and if USB debugging isn't checked, you probably won't get the computer to recognize the phone anyway.
Hey All,
I've seen some posts stating that the bootloader for this phone can't be unlocked.
I'm using the E6533 model and wanted to confirm that it is possible.
Just go to this website: http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/ (the official sony one)
Select Xperia Z3 as the model (I know we have the Z4/Z3+ but it still works). Enter your email and click the link they email you.
Insert the IMEI number and they will give you the unlock code. then just run
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem unlock <code>
and it will work.
As a note this WILL wipe your device, so backup anything you may need on it.
Hopefully with this we can get root / twrp built
So TA backup is needed to keep the DRM keys before unlocking the bootloader. Is there a way to back up TA of non-rooted devices? Flashtool doesn't fully support Z3+ yet.

Quick question , what to do if you have Unlock allowed: No?
Generally speaking this always meant just what it says... That it's not possible to unlock the bootloader. This was often the case with oem phones. Today it could also mean you have myxperia security activated. If you have log out of that and try again.
Oh and do not activate it after unlocking bootloader, you could brick your device for good!

Make sure you don't have the xperia security software enabled (the find my iPhone equivalent)
It prevents the bootloader from being unlocked. Otherwise it means your carrier disabled the feature
Thanks diemadedrei and ChrisJ951.
It worked, it was the Xperia Security software that was enabled.
Rooting status: unknown
Hello, i tried to unlock my BL from the sony website, but after i flashed the code in my phone, it just restored and now just says rooting status: unknown and also the option of unlock allowed does not even appear! anybody could please help me?
thanks and hello from Mexico!
The z3+ is now selectable on the unlock page officially
@bryantronics: it should say bootloader unlocked yes under rooting status. Generally it should have worked if everything went as described.

Thanks to all, I have tried to change it to "YES" 24 hours
OK so with this recent tidbit of data that a bootloader unlock no could become a yes I am concerned. When I bought the phone it said yes. But no where can I figure out if the DRM keys are a)original b)intact c) working with this present rom. Could anyone tell me so I can be sure that if I resell this item I don't misrepresent this information.
haist i have a same problem for that issue ...until now i can not flash boot img...please resolve this problem...guys plssssss......
i have the same problem i cant flash img due to remoted lock state: unlocked
any updates?
I am suffering the same problems as my colleagues in the previous posts. I cannot get the bootloader unlock, no matter how hard I try:
performed the official Sony way (using minimal adb and fastboot; phone is listed in fastboot devices; "remote: command not allowed")
flashtool64: both with blu manually and by leaving the text file in the registered devices folder (which was found and used for a unlock, which turned out not to be successful).
Sony MyDevices is not activated. Android 5.0.2 (E6533; 28 0 A 8 272 HK)
Do you have any further tips how to open the bootloader?
thx, Benedikt

I'm not sure, as I just used "fastboot oem lock" just fine a few days ago.
Try with lowercase "oem". Might not make a difference, but I know I for sure use lowercase.

Yeah, mine let me lock it with TWRP installed, although it wouldn't let me into recovery or boot the phone, so I had to simply unlock it again, flash the stock recovery, and lock it for it to wipe and do it's thing.
---------- Post added at 07:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:22 PM ----------
Another thought, are you in a bootloop and that's why you are trying to lock it?
If not, maybe you turned the setting off in developer options that allows OEM unlocking?
Since if that's off the error you get is very similar:
"Failed: flashing unlock is not allowed"

That's also wierd, since mine is unlocked and allows me to turn it on and off at will.
Although the way your option is makes more sense. Just strange that it's different.

Very weird indeed! I have never had issues locking a phone before..
I know this will sound like the silliest imaginable attempt at an answer, but having unlocked and locked plenty of phones and having watched plenty of people in this forum try to answer these sorts of questions sensibly, I'm just going to skip to the nonsensical answer I've heard people say "worked for them".
Nonsense answer: Are you by any chance trying this from a USB 3.x port rather than a USB 2.x port? If yes, then try a USB 2.0 port. I suppose the same is worth a try using the official dash cable as well.
Everything you and Arkangel have said makes total sense. Mine also doesn't show the dev "unlock" setting once it is unlocked, so that doesn't seem an issue. Of course, you should have the original stock recovery installed, but you do, so check/try that crazy thing I said and good luck.
Me and this guy was talking about unlocking the bootloader by modifiying the .bin in an ota file and to my surprise he apparently was able to unlock the Pixel 2. Maybe this will work for those in on a Verizon Pixel 1 so give this a shot!
From all I can tell your just unlocking the critical partition with the command "Fastboot flashing lock_critical" then it allows for you to unlock. Refer to this thread and good luck!

I don't see how you can modify an OTA and still pass the the cert signing check and update checker.

It just seems that all the success stories of the Pixel 2 are of the smaller verison and not the Pixel 2 XL so I didn't know if one or the other would work better. Also what error did it give you?
Edit: the critical part is an XL command only so try
Fastboot lock
Or
Fastboot flashing lock
The flashing lock-critical said it wasnt a valid command, so tried the lock_critical. Already locked and did nothing else. Also if changed to unlock_critical, fails and says unlocking is not allowed ,

Oem unlocking toggle under developer options is greyed out. When you input those commands, it says failed, and says unlocking is not allowed. I'm not at a PCat the moment, but I can do again tomorrow, and take a pic

For Pixel 2: To flash the bootloader, Pixel 2's boot loader must be updated to at least Oreo MR1's version first. This may be done by applying an over-the-air (OTA) update, or sideloading a full OTA with the instructions on that page.
For Pixel 2 XL only: the critical partitions may also need to be unlocked before flashing. The unlock can be performed with this command, and should NOT be done on other devices:
fastboot flashing unlock_critical
Looks like this exploit does not work for the original Pixel. Bummer waste or a thread, good luck to those still trying to unlock.

Black Shark is independent of Xiaomi when it comes to the software development. Their team just have to release the kernel source then that's when the real thing starts. Sadly though, the Black Shark team is very lousy and their support is very poor so let's just expect that this device will get stuck to Android Pie, like what happened to Black Shark 1 which development is "dead".
