1. What does the default.acdb file do?
2. Is it a kernel or build file?
3. How to open and edit?
Why i`m asking:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=839383
I'm not 100% sure but..
1. Controls the microphone gain sensitivity
2. I have a feeling its a kernel file seeing as though
"Release r7.7 - 27/10/2010
- Merged the main tree as usual (stuttering fix, acdb changes, etc)"
3. You can delete/rename it using astro ( /system/etc/firmware ), unless you're talking about actually editting the file itself, then im not sure.. sorry!
1. And nothing more?
2. Thx.
3. The problem is that when i rename it it creates som issues in android. So if i only could open it and make some sense of it i could edit it to fit my needs.
Is it possible to keep some of my build.prop settings intact after I upgrade my ROM? I'm on CM10.1 and I like my WiFi scan interval higher than 15 seconds so it doesn't scan so often. Its just annoying to have to keep updating it when I upgrade

I guess you can just backup/restore build.prop file manually?
Haven't seen an app that does it...
Btw, any other interesting tweaks that you use?
Add a new line with "build.prop" to 70-gapps.sh in /system/addon.d
That's the only tweak I use. I found that you can create a build file in data/local.prop and whatever settings you put in here will be kept during upgrades and they overwrite the settings in the build.prop
I'd like to modify the systemui to display the CPU temp in the statusbar. The Xposed module I used to use doesn't work on MM but I'm nor sure which file to call to in the XML.
Hello!
I've just recently upgraded from a Note 2 to the Note 4 and after a couple of tries I've found a a good rom (DevBase 3.8) and I've flashed the Emotion Kernel r26 on it and it works fine.
On my Note to I changed the charge value to 2000ma which worked flawlessly and didn't caused overheating with the screen on or off (I've used Adams kernel with the included app) and I wanted to do the same with the emotion kernel which doesn't natively allow to change the values.
After looking around with root explorer I've found the fast charge files in the /sys/kernel/fast_charge/ folder and there is even an info file explaining a few things. I personally judt want to change the ac charge file values to 2000 2100 and the file "screen_on_current_limit" to 0 so it charges in full speed even if the screen is on.
But the problem is changing the values don't really safe them, they get changed back after a reboot and even a manually created flashable zip didn't permanently override the values.
I've tried it a couple of times with different file explorers and changed the permissions regularly without success.
Here's the zip with the modified values if you wanna check it out.

Any idea how to do this?
Edit:
I've found out that I can change and "safe" those values in most of the files and the info file actually picks it up and shows if it's applied but a reboot later those are the same.
But I can't protect the files getting rewritten even if I heavily restrict the permissions.
I'm sure I'm missing something but don't know what it is.
I have a T-Mo OP6t, converted to International OOS Beta 8
TRWP installed
Magisk installed
Solid Explorer installed (paid version)
I'm trying to edit/update my HOSTS file for ad blocking but I can't.
I've tried to edit the properties of the HOSTS file in system/etc/ but the changes don't stick.
See attached thumbnails.
Any help/advise is appreciated.
Need to enable systemless hosts file option in Magisk manager, that's it.
I use adaway and do not toggle the system less switch in magisk and things work fine. I thought the system less toggle were for the modules you could download not separate sops
I use Solid Explorer all the time to modify hosts file on all my devices, inlcuding my 6T. The editor built into Solid Explorer has issues with larger files, so many larger hosts files can't be copied / pasted / saved in the editor in my experience. You can however just copy / paste / replace the entire hosts file with another one though. Just make sure the hosts file has Linux line endings, so use a Linux PC or notepad++ in Windows and use the conversion to Unix line endings and save it.

I have that option already enabled. No luck.

I've always copied and pasted with Solid Explorer and that's what I'm trying to do this time but haven't had any luck.
Any other suggestions?

Personally I don't care for Adaway (no particular reason), I'm just quirky and prefer to use an edited HOSTS file.

Have you gone in Magisk, and under SuperUser and made sure Solid Explorer is approved for Root use?

Yep. See attached.
Note: I'm only using adfree until I can get the HOSTS file copied and pasted over

Don't know what changed but AFTER installing the adfree.apk and allowing that to update the HOSTS file, I was able to copy/paste my HOSTS file like normal.
Crisis solved.
Moderator, please close and thanks to everyone who suggested fixes.
Edit the host file here, it's the one that is used when the magisk module is enabled.
/sbin/.core/img/hosts/system/etc
Try debloating the rom. Having same issue getting error message "that there are no enough space on the system". After I removed built in system app i'm not using, all went fine after. I removed google play music, movies and other stuffs I don't use.
