haptic feedback yes, vibration intensity for calls , texts etc, no, vibrator is stronger , but haptic feedback is somew flawed
Came from s10+ and I prefer the haptic feedback from OP8 pro. In my opinion it is so much better and tightly controlled.
That's disappointing. Would have fault it would be as good if not better than the 7 pro

In precision, strength or both? Can you comment about any sort of audible noise coming from it that shouldn't be there?
It produces a sound, but actually I wasn't aware at first that it wasn't simple sound coming from the speakers. It felt very natural to me, to have this sound accompany small vibration when typing. Overall I would describe it as water droplet falling into water. But, it is very silent.

For both. I think its a little bit louder than the iPhone and the sound is a little bit higher, but it depends on the action and strength.

Hi bro at this time i have a iphone xs max and u know the haptic on this device is amazing and i'm thinking to get a new device from android and i searched that oneplus give u a fantastic android experience but what u say about op8 pro u give me littile confuse about this phone cuz i really like the haptic feedback

I wouldn't get the 7 Pro over the 8 Pro just because of the sound of the vibration. The vibration is stronger, but it's a bit "louder" / more audible. As one here said you could think that it's a sound that is coming out of the speakers. To be honest except of this the 8 Pro is a better device in every regard. Ok, I also prefer the more subtile edges of the 7 Pro for the side back gesture, because the feeling swiping over the edge is a bit "hard", but I will probably get used to it.

If you want to go Android, OnePlus is a solid choice, maybe the best Android phone you can buy. Fantastic software and great experience, camera will be good but not as good as iPhone maybe. It's up to you!!!

Yeah i saw a lot of reviews and to be honest any flagship can take a decent picture but in some situations there's a phone can handle it and have an advantage over the others
But my curios it has the same level as iphone especially in haptic? cuz i really really like it

u won't be disappointed with haptic feedback, especially u can set it weaker or stronger etc, its just us since we moved from 7 pro can hear this weird sound, otherwise it works fine bud

If you're looking into great haptics on an Android phone, you can also check Pixel 4.
Also, the software experience is the smoothest you can get (for an Android phone), and feels refined. (and that's coming from a long-term oneplus user)
Personally I prefer the haptics from pixel 4 over oneplus 7 pro (both tested)

I agree the haptics are a bit better on the pixel 4 XL compared to 7 pro
A bit late but I think, while the vibration is actually better on the OP 8 Pro, it is delayed. And this lag absolutely ****s me up while typing.
I'm seriously thinking about returning it and switch back to my s10+ which has worse haptics, but at least it's accurate.
I had this problem with every Oneplus phone I owned, and it's just sad. Now that they went full on flagship it would be better I thought, but nah.
have the pixel 4 xl and the 8 Pro, I think the pixel 4 xl "feels" better and is a little stronger, but only marginally. what bugs me is the noise the haptic on the 8 Pro makes. yes it does sound like it's coming from the speakers, but it's not which is even more frustrating.

The same for me, I'm past my first year with the HTC 10 and still have til next May to pay it off lol. Although I still use my HTC 10 for when I am flashing or updating a ROM, I have to have a phone at all times for work. Have you rooted it yet?
This is a good phone but.. There's not much standing for it, good camera but slow in comparison to other phones, speakers are a bit better than on the s8 but they're not that special, display is good but not up there with the best and the minimum brightness is still bright for dark environments, edge sense is a gimmick, the water proofing on this phone isnt that good and ive seen people having problems with their phone due to water damage and basically i wouldn't trust to put this phone in water on purpose and i treat it as a non waterproof phone, the battery is pretty good but not that great for me, The bezels are big, there's no option to lower the brightness in camera app and no option to turn off capacitive key light, htc sense is ok but it has bloatware that you cant install and no useful features.. Nothing special aboit it and i guess the only thing good about it is that its close to stock android and the performance on it is great. Basically this is a good phone but the pixel xl 2 will have better camera, performance, battery, maybe speakers too, design and display, software and more support. Maybe also better waterproofing

Looks like you like to hang with other Samsung junkies and parrot everything they say. You all are so worried we might have a better phone that you always have to come here to snoop and see whats going on, taking notes for all the talking points against HTC. My capacitive keys lights are off. What is this bloat you speak of? HTC allows us to disable and hide any bloat if there is any. Bezels are not even noticeable when using this beauty and at least our fingerprint scanner is in the right spot and has been proven to be much more reliable. Edge Sense is by no means a gimmick, I think we are well past that talking point. Any reasonable person knows not to intentionally drown your phone, and if you do you are supposed to dry it first before using. HTC specifically states this. The battery has already shown to beat the competition. The mics beat all of the competition, 3d audio recording. There really isn't much to complain about this phone some people just can't stand that something might be better than their beloved, super almighty Samsung giant. It's like it's their mission to make sure no one wants to experience it. "LOOK AWAY! LOOK AWAY!" LMAO

Yeah I didn't want to either with this beast. It really isn't needed but there are a few things that make it worth it and the main thing that always draws me back to HTC, the freedom of having an unlocked bootloader. Just a few minor things I enjoy like all black theme and apps that require root like the new edge sense plus. To say there isn't anything special about the U11 is just not true. There isn't much you can't do with it especially after the next update.

Reasons why I'm keeping
1. Solar Red looks AWESOME.
2. Smooth smooth smooth. No stutter unlike my previous s8+ exynos that stutters quite often after 2 weeks of use
3. Edge sense is not a gimmick. It's useful especially after using the edges sense plus app (waiting for the huge official update promised tho)
4. Camera is awesome. Id rather have one lens phone that excels in image quality than a dual camera phone that is only mediocre or even good
5. Battery life is good enough for me. Dual sim, all day mobile data 4g, 6+ screen on time, 20 hours of total standby time. What I did was disable all bloat especially news republic.
6. Did I say solar Red is AWESOME?
7. That speaker.. Really love watching videos on it, good enough for listening music when I don't have my bt speaker around. The included noise canceling earphone is also very very very good. Haven't been using many bundled earphones for previous phones. But this one is a keeper.
8. Never had any problems with waterproofing. Then again I will never believe in waterproofing on a phone since I had incidents with z1 compact, Z3 compact, s5.
9. Fingerprint sensor is EXCELLENT. I have greasy fingers which usually problematic when using fp sensors. Had problems with p10+, s8+, Pixel xl, xzp. 99% of the time it works with this phone.
10. The fact that overall this phone bests everything on the market. I don't have premonitions on phones that comes next. But as things stand this phone is the best bet.

I'll sure drink to this list. The phone is a real pleasure to use and fiddle with.
I've been unlocked and rooted the phone, pretty much I'll stick with it for some periods. That's no perfect phone on Earth when you switched to others you'll find some other problems eventually.
What I don't like is the camera noise though the details is great but it got too much really and do need some more denoise. The size is a bit big for 5.5" too.

That's for you to decide, but here's my honest opinion. If i was supposed to use any Samsung phone, it would be the Note 8, and that's because of the 6gb of RAM, along with the refinements that are included in Samsun's 7.1 rom. The Note is DEFINITELY more fun that the U11, and that's coming from a diehard HTC lover.
However...I still don't feel that Samsung touches HTC when it comes to optimization and performance over time. I highly anticipate that the U11 will be pushing through the bits and bytes much more gracefully than the Note 1yr from now. Samsung ages horribly, and I'm talking from experience. My wife always gets the equivalent Samsung device when I get my new HTC...EVO vs Epic 4g, EVO LTE vs S3, M8 vs S5, S7 and S7 (got it with a BOGO...regrets....), and U11 vs S8. My phone always comes out on top for a longer period of time. So, I'm not simply blowing hot air when I say that HTC has much more consistent performance than Samsung.

Hi, I need some advice on which device I am going to buy. I'm going to use this I guess 3 to 5 years as I dont replace my phone that often so this thread will help A LOT. I'm basing on some reviews, speed tests, but the two seems to be on par with each other. Price is/may kind of an issue here as I would love to use some of the money (if I buy the OP5) for the after sales and some personal stuff. However if the Note 8 is really "bang for the buck" then I'll gladly go with it. I also tried to search some issues. Here's what I found so far:
One Plus 5:
GPS Issue
Bluetooth Issue
Overheating issue
Jelly Screen effect
Note 8:
Red tint in a lot of device
Light leak (lights leaking on the side of the phone not much of an issue for me)

I may be wrong with some of this but I've researched and this is what I've seen.
If this is a point to consider, I'm coming from a Xperia Z3Compact which didn't last long (I hated sony to the hell because of this) because of the digitizer issue. However, I enjoyed tweaking that phone. Now I'm forced to use my iPhone5s with jailbreak.
Note: Just to be clear, the devices in comparison are OP5 8gb/128gb and Note 8 6gb/64gb Exynos

Thank you guys. After a long comparison, I'm going for the OP5 even with the rumors of OP5T. I just hate the back fingerprint scanner placements which is the trend now. And regarding with the bezels, I'm more into those phone with bezels on top and bottom for landscape usage. I've been trying the S8+, and some games that I play doesn't maximize or utilize the whole screen which leaves some part of the screen blank. However, the screen in the Note 8 is A1 dont get me wrong, but I'm more into the performance and the OP5's screen is enough. Thank you guys!
You are on the OP5 forum so replies can't be realistic... I prefer the OP5 anyday over any Sammy device for just one reason: the OS. I prefer a clean near stock Android OS over the bloated TW UI but that's just me. Note 8 is a great device and all of Samsung hardware is very well made, but the almost double price and the OS give my vote to the OnePlus 5.

I've seen the HTC U11, but I'm not a fan of the shiny back and HTC as well haha. About the V30, I guess I can consider it but this bootloop issue prevents me to check on it. Also, I updated the post and added the Jelly effect. Have you experienced it?

I came from a s8 and s8 plus and so far beside the screen which to me the op5 looks great screen wise obviously not as great as the s8 but still awesome. And the design of the op5 is more of a shared look with smart phones.
Beside that I am very impressed with the onep5 I do not regret the giving up my s8 for this phone. It's so damn smooth and fluid I've had no hiccups.
I have none of the issues on my oneplus 5 that you mentioned

I may be wrong with some of this but I've researched and this is what I've seen.
If this is a point to consider, I'm coming from a Xperia Z3Compact which didn't last long (I hated sony to the hell because of this) because of the digitizer issue. However, I enjoyed tweaking that phone. Now I'm forced to use my iPhone5s with jailbreak.
Note: Just to be clear, the devices in comparison are OP5 8gb/128gb and Note 8 6gb/64gb Exynos

Well your cons for the OnePlus 5 I don't have any of them. My GPS is rock solid as I use it for work at 2+ hours a day. Locks in seconds and never see drift. Bluetooth? I connect to my 2011 Nissan with no issues and connect it to audio adapter (MPOW to stream Bluetooth Audio to my AUX port) and 2 sets of headphones... never an issue with quality or connectivity. My phone never gets hot and while gaming, i barely notice it gets slightly warm. (EX Kernel manager shows CPU temp at 98F after 30 min of asphalt 8.
Maybe you have a phone you should RMA? But there is no way in hell I'm paying $1000 for ANY smart phone when I can get a phone that's better performing, has longer battery life, faster charging, clean basically Stock Android and likely faster updates then Sammy. I used to be a big Sammy fan but not since i left my Note 4 and got a Nexus 6P and now the OP5.
This isn't a bias, these are what I look for in a phone and the things that made me choose this phone over the S8+, LG G6 and the HTC U11.
The one Phone I would look at today compared to the OP5 is the new LG V30. Simply because It will support the new 600mhz band 71 from T-Mobile. I'd have to see how the battery holds up and how well the OS is optimized cause I'm not a fan of LG and it's skinned OS and it's much slower charging speed.
Update: I forgot to mention the Jelly effect. I heard people saying it effects every phone but I got my OP5 on launch day and I can tell you more then a dozen people have looked at my phone and no one can see a "jelly effect" If mine has it it's so minimal its not noticeable. I believe the severity vary's a lot.

I'm really a fan of SPen but the price really kills it. I thought the price would go lower because of the Note 7 issue haha! I've read some reviews about V30 and its impressive. However I'm really not a fan of LG's OS. I tried G6 and its not for me. But I'll try V30 some other time. About the jelly effect, when I've seen the issue in youtube it made me dizzy a little bit but I dont know if I'll be affected in real life. There little to no demo phones of OP5 here in my country. Well, I purchased the phone 1 week ago, and yes, Jelly Effect is presented, but it's barely to notice. So really nothing which I'd somehow annoying. And the performance and battery life of this phone are outstanding
go for oneplus5.. best device that you can get...samsung sucks

Yeah I also have a theory that the when the jelly effect on a video capture, that the recording enhances the effect, especially in slow motion. I think it's far fewer people say they see then the people who say they can't see it all all.
The Note's screen is better and the S Pen is great.
I owned a Note 4 but could got tired of all bloatware and Samsung in general. I know Touchwiz has improved but it's still too much.
Super happy with the OP5. I mostly used the S Pen for navigation and I use a simpler stylus I found on Amazon on the OP5 and it works great.
No issues with GPS, bluetooth or anything else for me.
The Jelly effect is present on my device, but I don't even notice it anymore more. Very rarely.
I'd go for the OnePlus 5 just because of the price. I can't see how the Note 8's camera, screen, waterproofing and microSD slot make up for that $500 difference. The Note 8 can't even make up for the $200 difference from the S8, and those are nearly identical phones in many aspects.
I chose the OnePlus 5 for the following reasons:
- Performance
- Development community and support
- Price
Samsung tends to have issues with all 3 of the above.
The biggest difference here being the price and you really need to ask yourself "Am I really getting my money's worth?"
I highly doubt the Note 8 is $500 better than the OnePlus 5 or 2-300 better than any other Flagship launched this year.
Very cool running device... GPS issue may have been the 911 bug, but that was quite a while ago.Jelly Screen seems non existent, but people like to report it never the less (even on moto phone....) Wifi issues? Might be because using inferior x12 modem so I'm disappointed. x16 modem is much better, which is what other flagships using 835 win at. Also oneplus 5 display isn't all that great, just 1080p, it does look good, HOWEVER no support for HDR content i've so ever wanted to view. but 1080p looks very good as any screen if few inches away from.
Kinda sick of hearing the jelly effect as a negative. It's not, its more of an accent flavor. Adding life to scrolling. As for those other issues i have never seen them outside of xXx's rom. Running stock 4.5.12 right now and took a nice drive and my device had me spot on every step of the 2 hour drive. it just depends on what you want. Best hope developer support for the note 8 is more than nothing. Oneplus devices live longer than most devices out there. hell the OPO is on oreo right now. go figure.
Overheating? This phone stays cool with heavy games for more than 40 minutes. I'm not saying as a pro for op5, the note 8 snapdragon version should be the same ( I don't know if there is a snap version for the note).
Jelly is present on EVERY op5, some people see it, some people don't. When I order it I think that the first thing to do was to check the jelly issue, it came and I use it for a day, I didn't remember the jelly issue until I read it in the forum again, and when I scroll fast up and down I see it, but I have to do a fast up and down scroll and be looking for it, I don't see it normal usage. Even it costs me a little to see it intentionally.
Has someone noticed that the touch sensitivity on this phone is a little low as compared to other phones especially Samsung flagships like Note 3, 4 and 5?
I came from a Samsung Note 5 to Mi A1 and facing this touch issue especially in the bottom right corner of the touch screen. It takes just a little more effort than usual to register a touch.
Is it just me or could it be a software bug? I'm on January patch of OREO update, btw.
Tried calibrating the touch with calibration app as well as SGS booster but neither has helped!
Any help would be highly appreciated.

I've not found any issues (came from a Nexus 6) but only had the phone since yesterday
Not issues here...it works flawlessly! just a little slow when "pinch to zoom" in camera pics... i have a Galaxy Note 8, and MI A1 is a budget phone... i don`t feel a lot of difference...but, remember, a Flagship is a Flagship.. MI A1 is a very good phone...thats a lot cheaper...so, there will be allways differences between them!

I am very, very impressed so far. I wasn't expecting much but its a really good phone (for the third day of ownership). It's narrower than the N6 which makes it easier to use one handed and I have large hands. Screen is fantastic too, obviously its 1080p but it's on par with the N6 for colour and clarity anbd not too far off its weight either. Definitely worth getting a cover for it too.
Battery life has been great, had two days out of it so far with 34% charge left but I am not a heavy user (no gaming etc) so it is going to vary. Updated to Oreo and that's buttery smooth. I was going to root and install the Gcam but to be fair, photos are really not as bad as I have read and even indoors with little light they are not as terrible as I expected. One thing I found fun was taking a selfie and it guesses your age and sex when its looking at you. Gimmicky but hey.
Sound wise from the speaker, it's a little tinny, certainly not as good as the N6, it doesn't sound as natural but it is still not the worst I have listened to. I do get a very small amount of hissing noise from the headphones too, but again nothing to be complaining about.
One thing I forgot to do was when my network sent my internet settings, I didn't reboot the phone and I was puzzled for a few minutes as to why I couldn't load Google maps and use that. So if you do buy, don't forget.
So, definitely worth the purchase buddy.

So what issues related to OP6T are you experiencing? At the same price you will go for S9+ or OP6T? ( or save 100 bucks for a Mi8 or a S9?)

Not sure what I can say about issues because I haven't found anything. But, I tell you my wife has an S9 and compared to this phone it has terrible battery life. My 6T lasts me a healthy and solid 2 days (right now starting day 3 with 40% left) but hers lasts like... 10 hours? Its on a charger alot.

Yes probably the S9 has an horrible optimisation, so that is why i’m On the 6T for the battery life and maybe on a S9+ instead of the S9.
For the screen is the 6T brightness so bad? Obviously compared to the S9? In the summer my S8 becomes so bright and readable never had issues.

Ciao! I'm on the same situation as you, can't decide between OP6T and S9+. I think I'll go with OP6T for the better software/software support and the better battery. As far as I know, support under warranty has hugely improved since the time of the OnePus One but if you want to be 100% safe you can buy it from MediaWorld here in Italy! I'll probably miss the headphone jack present on the S9+ but still I wouldn't buy a one year old phone just for that, also considering the low term software support Samsung gives.
I just got this phone on Friday and an LOVING it! It hold a charge seemingly forever, and the display is gorgeous. It's very smooth and snappy.

Yes I have been in a MW store but the phone was not available, I would like to try it especially because I don’t like big phones. In that scenario the Mi8 made me love it.

I have a Galaxy S9+ for work and a OP6t for personal use. I prefer the OP6t. No, the display is not quite as bright. However the colors and size are amazing and just as good as the Galaxy. The battery life is significantly better. I have to keep the Galaxy S9+ near a charger so it is topped off before I head out if the house. The OP last so long and charged so fast that I don't worry about it. Also the near stock os flies compared to Samsung's... Its not even close. I've been using wireless headphones for a while so that wasnt a big deal to me. I think it's only a matter of time before all manufacturers get rid of the headphone jack so I figured I'd take the plunge. The only things I miss at all on the OP are wireless charging and Samsung pay, but the OP experience is so much better that is worth it.

As you have both phones, would you say the Oneplus 6t is far behind the S9 regarding camera and picture quality?

Let me qualify this with that fact that I am not big picture taker so I likely haven't experienced a significant number of scenarios. With that said, is it behind, yes...is it FAR behind, no. It still takes really good pictures with the rear camera, at least for point and shoot. I haven't used the front facing camera, so I can't say for sure. Everything I've read (and doubtless you have too) says the front facing camera is crap. If it matters, it also doesn't have all of the AI/AR stuff that the Samsung camera does. I played with that on the Galaxy for about an hour and never used it again, but it may be important for some people.
I just sold my S9+ and got the 6T and I can't imagine going back. Camera isn't quite as good, but it's fine for my uses. Screen isn't quite as good, but with 20/20 vision I can't tell much of a difference. Definitely doesn't get as bright, but haven't had any issues with the max brightness. The 6T is tons faster and doesn't seem to big down like the S9+ does and the battery life is miles better. Can't imagine going back

I assume you meant the grayscale test she showed? I couldn't find the graphic she used, but here is a different one. Both of these were at 100% brightness. The S9+ may have done a tiny bit better, but its really close.

I’ve seen from the Oneplus 6 review always from Erica that this shadow clipping effect is more affecting the S9 than the OP6.
But S8 was better than S9 on that so I hope that 6T doesn’t perform worse than 6

I have Huawei P20 Pro, and it is a good phone but I want to try out another phone. And I think about to change my P20 pro to OP 6 or 6t but just untill near October because I want to buy a Pixel 4, 4XL, OP 7t or galaxy note 10.
Firstly the camera is important feature for me, and I know p20 pro has a better camera than the 6 or 6t but those phones has ported gcam so how good is that gcam?
And battery, speakers and the software is important to me as well, OP always has a good battery life so it's ok, speakers is weaker than the speakers on the P20 pro. But the software is a key part of OP Oxygen OS is great and I like it, and it's way better than the Emui which is a **** for me I hate basicly everything in Emui

If the camera or speakers are most important to you, then wait. The op6t is ok on both counts but coming from the pixel camera and speakers, you'll be disappointed. The Google camera app doesn't significantly improve the camera imo.
Actually the camera is important but the software is the second most important thing the speakers just good to have a good one.
And what about the screen?
It's amoled on the OP, and the P20 pro. And both of them has fhd+ resolution.
But which phone has better color reproducion or the viewing angle?
I personally love the screen on the op6t. The resolution/pixel density isn't as high but I'm of the opinion that it doesn't matter over a certain point. Something about the color saturation and white balance is pleasing imo.
If you got the money buy Note 9 or wait for... 10.
So I bought the OnePlus 8 Pro with the intention to replace my OnePlus 7 Pro as my work phone. The phone is incredible but in the end I will be keeping the OnePlus 7 Pro. Being a Verizon user, there are quite a few hurdles to using a OnePlus phone as well. Here is a breakdown of my experience:
PROS of the OnePlus 8
+Much more comfortable to hold, due to narrower size, lighter weight
+The sharper curved screen looks and feels much better than the OP7 Pro
+Wireless charging
+Much improved battery life
+Improved Camera
+Several months ahead on updates

-OnePlus Gestures (excellent) were replaced by Google's buggy default gestures, the 7 Pro still has them.
-Image retention is a major problem on 120 Hz. In Dark mode, ghosted images can remain for anywhere from 5 seconds to 10 minutes. No issues on 7 Pro
-The hole punch is annoying, not because of its existence, but that OnePlus gives no options without a custom rom
-Android 11 is buggy and needs quite a bit of work
All in all, I'm sad to be returning the OnePlus 8 Pro. It's a gorgeous phone with solid build, and so much potential for customization but I can't justify the cost over keeping the OnePlus 7 Pro with its many annoyances. The OnePlus 7 still has no WiFi calling with Verizon, but is otherwise polished. I hope this helps anyone debating the same upgrade.

It's a shame that. Do you have to use Verizon, it seems that they force people to do what "they" want rather than what "you" need.
I wouldn't give them the time of day personally.
Haven't had any image retention issues on my device, but I have heard this mentioned, seems to be more prevalent in the states than Europe? Not sure why.
Oh and the punch hole.
Lol check the image, I've found a way to make it look decent.
Also 11 for me has been superb, I hated it at first but I got used to it and now I couldn't go back, especially with the under keyboard gap now being removed.
Shame, but good luck with whatever you get next, I'd certainly consider ditching Verizon and going with another provider, they seem to be extremely counter intuitive
I only got the 8 Pro for 5G but prefer my 7 Pro and Volte worked on that

For me 5G has been awful.
I only use 4G got mine for the performance and the camera is brilliant

I actually found the camera's on the 7 Pro just as good, really not seen any improvement and as for 5G
I'd say my old 7pro is better than my 8pro. Display doesn't have green tint, camera about the same and 7pro still has Widevine L1 (8pro dropped to L3 on its own)and no cam cut out on display. 8pro upgrade wasn't worth it for me.

Lol the camera is not better on the 7 mate, I wouldn't say that.
I used to be able to get 300+ on 4G. No one needs more than that

I think it's highly dependent on the person doing the shooting.
