Hello everyone, I'm not sure this is the right forum so please advise.
I'm a software developer (C#, Visualforce) but I'm pretty much a rookie when it comes to Android. I've done some stuff, rooted a phone once... anyway, my son's (he's 5) Galaxy Tab A 8 inch tablet took a dump today. He uses it to watch youtube and do ABC mouse. Life will be hell without this...
Error today after 2 games were intalled. I'm not ruling out hardware issue but for now I'll just proceed with what I know.
Tablet won't boot, 1/2 a second after splash screen it goes to error message "Security Error: This phone has been flashed with unauthorized software & is locked. Call your mobile operator for additional support. Please note that repair / return for this issue may have additional cost"
I've tried power + vol up, pwr + vol down, both vol buttons, pwr and vol.... nothing. Always to this error screen.
So, I can't get to factory reset so I was thinking maybe it was worth flashing the entire thing. I don't know where to begin so I figured asking enthusiasts is best place to start.
Can anyone assist?
Samsung 300k tool
Can anyone tell me if Samsung 300k tool is safe? Chrome and Antivirus tells me it's a Trojan virus. No results doing an internet search. I downloaded it but am hesitant to install. Please advise.

Hi all. I hope someone can help me...first off all, im new to this software rooting and rom and all the other things to do with android software. Its my first time having a problem like this. Today i got a LG G Flex, at first, i loved the phone, no problem, but i was told that the phone was "loaded" with new software and that it just reboots by itself every now and then. I could live with that, now heres the problem, i cant do anything with it, after they reset the phone to delete accounts and personal info, the phone only rebooted once in like 10 minutes, then i added my accounts etc, then it started rebooting like every time it starts up. As soon as its on, and you unlock it, it reboots....you will be lucky to reach the settings menu!!! So ive managed to do a soft reset, still no luck. Ive tried reaching factory mode (volume up + volume down + power key) but all i get is a screen full of chinese letters...i was told to try volume down + power key until the lg logo appears and then release the power key and hold it again, it does nothing. Can only reach the chinese letters screen and a screen that i believe is for rooting the software or something like that. What must i do? Must i try to put back other software? And how do i do it? Already downloaded lg flash tool and lg drivers if i need it.
Please help....

Hi all,
Apologies if this has been posted before elsewhere in the forum, I've done some searching but I'm having a real hard time in getting this fixed.
My friend recently bought a Huawei P10 Plus off Facebook, second hand. He went to the guy's house, bought it and then didn't realise until he got home that it was a demo unit and on the back it says "NOT FOR SALE"
He went back to the house and the guy was nowhere to be seen and now they deny all knowledge of selling it.
So, unable to use it without a 15 second timeout going to a demo video - he gave it to me. I've got some experience of unlocking bootloaders, rooting etc. and I thought that I'd give this a bash.
The Vendor Country Info was locked to Country: Demo - so no firmware upgrades would work.
I got the bootloader unlocked (thanks Huawei Israel - no telephone verification) and then installed TWRP. I then proceeded to modify the oeminfo to set the correct country. This restarted the phone and now it's effectively bricked.
When I power it on, I get two options: eRecovery mode (which is useless) or hold down Vol Up, Vol Down + Power to get the EMUI manual updater.
No firmware files are working with the manual updater and the eRecovery doesn't find any packages to install.
Fastboot doesn't work - hold Vol Down + plug in USB cable just goes to the charging icon on screen. Tried with Power + Vol Down - straight to eRecovery.
Vol Up + Power goes to eRecovery, no standard recovery or TWRP recovery option.
I'm at a complete loss now, I'd be happy to get the demo firmware back on so that I can at least give it back and say "I tried", but I can't seem to get ANY firmware to install.
For information, I'm in the UK - so I'd need VKY-L09C440 firmware.
Any help is appreciated and once again, sorry if I'm reposting stuff - but it's a very particular case.
Anyone have any ideas on this?
Looking to get this resolved ASAP, but just at a real dead end with it all.
Hi there, does anyone have any ideas for this? Tried looking around the site, but can't seem to find any ideas anywhere
Had the S8 for about 3 to 4 months, rooted it four days after getting it; no issues whatsoever, it worked perfectly. Yesterday, after a day of not using the phone, I attempt to use it and find that everytime I try to boot it, it freezes after 10 seconds and reboots.
I have tried flashing stock rom of android oreo for the device and am currently trying to see if nougat will fix my issue.
Edit: After attempting to go into android recovery, I am told the device "fails to open recovery_cause", with an unknown error.
I'd really appreciate some help with this, as I've done almost everything I can think of to fix it.
Edit 2 (5/9/19): I've successfully flashed a version of android pie, which successfully boots into the initial setup screen. Same issue however, after around 10 seconds, no matter what I do, the s8 freezes and reboots.
Given up with the phone, tech support already recommended to go on here to post a question. A new phone has been ordered, and the S8 will be sold in non-working condition. If anyone has any idea about how to solve this still, please say something; if not, have a great day .
Thank you.
Hello,
I have the same problem.
I contacted Samsung with Samsung Members.
They said that i had an app who make the phone crashing during the boot !
They said the proof is your phone don't crash when you make an secure boot :
Turn the device off.
Press and hold the Power key past the model name screen.
When “SAMSUNG” appears on the screen, release the Power key.
Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
Safe mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.
Release the Volume down key when you see Safe Mode.
Uninstall apps that are causing a problem.

With this secure boot, no problem during boot
The only problem, is that i have only "official" apps donwloaded with Play Store, and i never find the app that cause the reboot :s
Ok so before I started writing this I had only one problem now I'm worried my problem has gone from bad to worse.
I updated my 6T to 10.3.2 from the latest Beta after the process it prompted for a restart, upon restarting it got stuck in the boot animation. I tried going into Recovery and Download mode unsuccessfully so I went through the forums a bit and saw that someone who had the same problem successfully entered Recovery mode by pressing VOLUME UP+DOWN+POWER buttons simultaneously, I tried to do the same and my phone turned off and now it doesn't turn on! :crying:
Has anyone experienced this or know how to fix this? Any help will be much appreciated. Tia!

These should be clarified:
Volume Up + Power while turning on will boot to fastboot.
Volume Down + Power while turn on will boot to recovery.
Holding Volume Up + Power should force the phone to turn off.
Volume Up + Volume Down should put your phone in Download mode for the MSM Tool.
Turn the phone off, let it sit. Then try turn it back on. Any response?
try to shutdown phone ...hold vol+ and power button for like 15 sec and restart your phone if this didnt work then u can try MSM tool
Thanks guys, got it working using MSM Tool!

You are likely going to lose your data. Know that going in if its not already backed up.
If you have the fastboot menu you can use the fastboot roms.
Or my least favorite option or what I would try last, MSM Tool (Tmobile 6Ts use a different tool).
IMPORTANT if you want to try and recover and data off your phone first, go to fastboot, and try and "boot" the TWRP img (not the installed one, one from your PC using the fastboot command). If that works you might be able to recover data. If that does worm, try dirty flashing the last ROM you were running and see if it boots.
No worries!

Hello, I am sorry to hear of you having this issue, I just went through 3 1/2 days (off and on) of recovering my T-Mobile OnePlus 6t which I found a way to get my unlock code within 2 weeks of having it, so I rooted it and put a custom kernel on it, stuck on 9.0 never let me update as I was not familiar with A/B partitioning, yet! The answers I saw to your questions were spot on, I just had a little to add to it and I'm sure I am not alone. Real quick let me list what has gone wrong on the rare occasion it hit the fan with the 6t...
- When I would accidentally and rarely let my battery die it seemed like it took forever to get it to reboot, I mean it sat on my desk of DOA devices for 2 weeks!
- It often seems like the buttons do not always respond properly and never have when I needed them to. Been through this before, I've bricked and unbricked and flashed and re-flashed and wiped all weekend and I like Android 10 and all but seems everything is different for every build, and everything seems to have to go in the right order with the exact right file or you wind up in a jam, period..
- That said, the previous person that answered your question has likely encountered similar, I've heard of right down to the buttons not physically working, but I have been a Smart Device Master III Technician for over 5 years, i know my buttons were not broken.
- Most likely culprit that I just handled and worked, i did have to use the MSM tool, several times - and re-unlock the BL, several times I would not even get the chance to get to fastboot, just a screen saying Build and Hardware not a match"" in yellow letters and it just bootlooped. No fastboot is no good, but when you said the tool would show some signs of working but then not, I have 2 solutions that I needed on diffrent occcasions.
1 - As mentioned fully try other USB cables, and ports, if you pull the usb-c out of the port and hold <power + vol up + vol down> eventually it will do something, very picky, sometimes gotta move your fingers to different spots on the buttons and also after 15-20sec let go of power and hit and hold it again... after a few seconds before it vibrates stick the cable in connected to your PC and the screen will be black (obv) but the msm tool will pick up on it. I know about the cables because I take good care of my phones and cables and charging ports, however on my final fix today it showed in msm tool it was connected but waiting for device.... Fed up i put the phone down and moved the usb cable a little bit and it picked up on it and did its thing! That part was just the cable, getting into qualcomm mode or w.e. is a bit tricky sometimes.
- Also someone said set it down for a while and come back to it.. THAT WORKS!! Let it fully charge and often just plugging in charger turns it on, bootloop soft brick or however have you, very simiilar to an Apple device and their DFU (don't f up mode cause screen is black..)
I hope that helps you get in touch with your family and friends.. Whatever you do, don't give up bc if you have not got it yet, you will! One other note, there are a few different msm tools available and they look the same some same size, but the one that supposed to work on my phone didn't and one that they say only a fool would attempt to try actually saved me, so if all else fails, use a different msm tool/usb cable and you will get it! I don't think I can post links yet I am on here very rarely, but plan on more! I have received so much help from XDA throughout the years on thousands of phones with just software issues alone, aas well as guides to my own phones. I would be honored to give back as I also have some extensive knowledge on many devices but I am a noob in comparison to many! Stay safe, good luck and please update and let us/ me know how it worked out for you. If i can help further I will, I have every firmware file for the OP6t, recovery, tools, software, this is not new to me but I feel your frustration!
Unable to boot into recovery mode/factory setting on Samsung Galaxy s10 Plus SM-G975F/DS Exynos version. My friend gave me this phone with a busted screen which he has not used for over a year. I bought a TFT screen for the s10 plus as a replacement and everything seemed to work fine. The problem was that my friend couldn't remember the pin code he used to access the phone. So, to hard reset the phone, I followed the procedure to put the phone into recovery mode by:
1: First plugging the phone to a USB-C cable connected to my laptop.
2: Holding down "volume down + power button".
3: Then as soon as the phone is off, I hold the "Volume Up +bixby + Power button" as the Samsung Galaxy s10+ logo appears.
4: Let go of held buttons when the SAMSUNG logo shows.
The phone then boots as normal but shows this error everytime: "[PDP] backup fail: setup-wizard finish"
I am not that tech savvy and honestly stumped from this point, and could use some assistance please.
I don't think there's a way to factory reset then... unless it got a unlocked bootloader but by what you're saying I doubt it so the only way is trying several numbers (it may get blocked) or going to Samsung to explain the issue.

Thanks for the response. I'll try to see what I can do in the meantime and use Samsung as the end-all-be-all.
I can't believe there's no way. I stuck in same situation as author of this thread. I bought s10+ with damaged screen, replaced and now I stuck on PIN screen. Tried every possible way to get in to recovery mode - no success.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
