Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2019) 4G - Samsung Galaxy Tab A series Questions & Answers

Hi,
Most places I've seen this in the UK price it around £250-£300 just for the tablet, while most network providers are charging around £400+ to get in on a 2 year contract, but I've managed to get it for £240 over the 2 years with 2GB data a month (yep £10 a month)
I think this is a good deal but does anyone know it the network providers also brand these tablets with their own logo's, could i use the sim card in a mobile device instead of the tablet and only use in the tablet when needed? And use a different sim in the tablet (i like sky mobile so get unlimited sky streaming when out)
How long is the support for the product provided by Samsung (I remember the Tab 3 8" never had much and relied on the xda forums to keep it going (still got an old rom on it as not updated or look to see if there are still roms for it).
Thanks

Price dropped by a whopping 10000 INR in India

Yes, thats true. The Indian SGT (GSM unlocked) which launched on 10th Nov, 2010 at 38,000 ($833) INR is now retailing at 28,000 INR ($614) on flipkart dot com.
I bought on launch at 38k from the same retailer. Never expected to fall the price this soon (barely 2 months). Feeling cheated. Planning to write to Samsung India about my feelings.
yes am getting it for 27k~ inr even in the samsung showrooms...was thinking to buy it..are u using the tab as a primary device or a secondary one ??
ruenigma,
In India the telcos did not offer any voice/data bundle plan with Galaxy TAB?
For me over at Singapore, I bought my Galaxy TAB for SG$248 (US$193) with the signed-up SG$56 (US$43.60)
(SG$44.10 (US$34.35) in actual under my corporate plan) voice/12GB data plan for 2 years contract.
Beside that, I also getting 1 Samsung bluetooth headset and 1 Sansdisk 16GB Class 4 Micro-SD card for free.
I even enjoy the 100st customer to win a pair of tickets for free fashion show and Korean pop star Seven mini live concert.
@Dare{D}evil using it as a secondary. Can't pocket it, so can't be primary. I carry a handset just for voice and text. Tab is used exclusively for data needs at home and in office. Never regretted the device itself, it is just the timing that I messed with.
@NewForce In India they do have data plans bundled with SGT but they don't carrier lock it for the same. Means you can wall out of a plan anytime (you may have to pay a marginal penalty).
Samsung India provided BT, carrying case and a car charger free of cost after I purchased the device. The online retailer also shipped the device with a 2GB sdcard and another BT.

I bought it for Rs.36500, feel extremely cheated because it's been over a month now but no sign of carry case, bt and charger. Samsung says it's out of stock and they will send it whenever. You are planning to write to them, what good that's gonna do?
Same here in the Philippines
SInce Indian Rupee and Philippine Peso are virtually 1:1, I have a sense of the scale you are talking about.
At launch, it cost around 35k to 40k here. Now, bnew and carrier unlocked can be had for as low as 27k, with weeks-old 2nd hand units going for 25k with screen protector and nice cases.
I got mine with a bundled data plan, and although the price is plunging, im still enjoying it very much (best portable media and movie player in the market tofay) so no worries
Even I feel bad that I bought it too soon. After I got it, Samsung bundled the case, charger & mapmyindia navigator.
Samsung has sent me a leather case, a bluetooth headset & the car charger later.
I still don't have the mapmyindia software.
I guess early adopters have negatives too. I guess they dropped the prices after the iPad was launched much cheaper than expected.
If you got 2gb sd card bundled with SGT, just check that card for mapmyindia installation file. This card comes with mapmyindia bundled

Xoom 3G & WIFI pre-order at Carphone Warehouse (UK)

Hope people find this useful - Carphone Warehouse in the UK are now offering pre-order for the 3G & WIFI Xoom priced at £599 including a charging dock for free - which I believe will make it £13 cheaper than the comparable iPad2 upon release - with the added benefit of the £35 dock thrown in too.
It's the first UK price I've seen for the 3G & WIFI version and it appears to be pretty good to me - £100 premium over the £499 WIFI only version in line with Apple's £510.
Still no closer on choosing which one to buy though!

Good luck to all across the pond, I will be "rooting" for you, and hope Motorola does not pull the Milestone madness on you guys.
Once you use the Xoom, you'll be soo happy

Milestone madness??!
I've cancelled my wifi only xoom & I'm ordering this, there's a 3 mobile tablet sim only deal at the moment for 12 months duration & 12gb data (whichever runs out first) for just £51. At that price beats tethering

That’s not bad deal. All we need now is the actual XOOM. Unfortunately no news from carphone warehouse

[Q] Dell Venue Pro 8GB or 16GB version?

I was going to purchase the unlocked version of the DVP direct from Dell for $299.00. However, after more research I found I could purchase either version locked to T-Mobile for fantastic pricing since I am eligible for a phone upgrade.
Specifically, the 16GB for $50.00 or the 8GB for $0.99. Yes, you read that correctly, 99 cents! Both come with the latest firmware and Mango.
So my question is, which way to go? If I purchase the 8GB I can invest in a 32GB memory card and still have the same cash oulay. Although going that way will void the warranty.
I plan on using the phone mostly for business and am not big on watching videos, listening to music, etc.
I currentl have an old, unlocked AT&T 8525 so this will be my first phone purchase/upgrade in quite some time. Any thoughts, recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I use the Venue Pro for business as well and bought the unlocked 8 GB model in March. It has served me quite well and I've used less than half of the memory. I always felt that I could change out the card if I get close to 75% memory use. Just my two cents worth. I'm not a heavy user of music and pictures, so 8 GB has proved to be enough so far. Also, you can always redownload any aps you accumulate.

i use my 8gb primarily as a business tool. i've had it for almost a full year and the memory card isn't even half full and I take a fair amount of photos/video on it.
unless you plan on using it as a PMP you should be just fine with the 8gb model.
do you order the locked phone from t-mobile website or dell's? i just checked dell's website and they selling only unlocked phones.
does buying a locked version require you to get a data plan? right now, i don't have any data plan and i don't see any need for it. i may just have to buy the unlocked version if they require me a data plan for a locked phone.
I suggest buying the 8GB version then buy a 32GB microsd card. I got mine at amazon for $34, sandisk. Been working great for me for about couple of weeks now. Here's the link to amazon:

I found out about the deal when I call Dell directly, their number is on the webpage listing the unlocked devices. The only way I found out about the deal was by asking the rep on the phone if that was their best pricing. To my knowledge you do not need a data plan, but I believe you will miss out on a lot of the phones capabilities.
Went ahead an ordered the 8GB version. Should haveit in a couple days. Thank you for all your input and suggestions.

[Q] 7.7 or 7.0 Plus?

Hi all!
I bought myself a refurbed Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus recently, and long story short, the firmware was borked so I sent it back. So I'm now looking at new models instead to ensure I don't have the same issue!
For the price I'm looking to pay (around £350 tops), I can get myself a 3G and Wifi 7.0 Plus, or I can get myself a Wifi only 7.7. Bearing in mind I have a Galaxy S2 for which I could purchase a tethering plan, what would you recommend I go for? What are the differences and pros/cons between each model?

I had both. I like 7.7 better. 7.0 fits in hands better and it actually looks like a real phone when put against the head. 7.7 looks like a tablet when put to the head. With that said, I do like the 7.7 better because of the Super AMOLED Plus and the high resolution. Other than that I didn't notice any difference in functionality.
Form factor: the 7+ is (obviously) more portable despite being a couple mm thicker. At over 1cm narrower, it fits better in some pockets that have trouble accommodating the 7.7. If you plan to carry it around in pockets, the 7+ is an easy recommendation. If you use a bag/purse, I doubt you'll really notice the difference but the 7.7 is a smidge lighter.
Screen: this is the big one for me. The 7.7 is a 1280x800 SAMOLED+, and the 7+ is a 1024x600 LCD. Samsung's PLS LCDs are great--good brightness and viewing angles, and the 7+ is no different by all accounts. Still, they have nothing on the deep blacks and high color saturation of OLED panels. Also, I find a 7" 1024x600 panel to be absolutely awful for web viewing--600 px width basically makes it unusable in portrait, in my opinion, and that's not a lot of vertical real estate when you're in landscape. Having used a 7+ already, you likely know whether it's something you can live with or not.
Also, you might want to read a bit about some of the screen issues people have. I believe this is the largest SAMOLED+ panel Samsung currently sells and the tech is definitely experiencing some growing pains. You're best off if you can buy from a retail store where you can exchange your 7.7 if you get a bad screen.
Connectivity: since you're comparing a wifi to a 3G tablet, you likely know the ups and downs here. I have the P6810 (wifi only) and have no problems tethering for the rare occasion when I need internet away from a wifi hotspot. I don't really use it in the car, since I'm fine with the navigation options on my phone. Also, since US carriers are crap, I'd be paying way too much for a data-only SIM and plan. Basically consider the cost of tethering and compare it with the cost of a cellular data plan. One thing I find useful too is to amortize the cost over what you expect the lifetime of your tablet to be--it gives you a bit of perspective about what the actual cost difference is.
Internals: The SoCs are the same, though the 7.7's clock tops out at 1.4GHz compared to the 7+ at 1.2GHz. Same RAM, sensors, and cameras. The 7.7 has a larger battery.
Cost: I'm honestly surprised you're considering these in the same ballpark. Here in the states, a P6200 (3G 7+) is nearly $100 cheaper than a P6810 (wifi 7.7). The P6810 is going to take up nearly all of that £350 budget, while I'd expect you to have room to spare if you go with a P6200.
Other: I personally love the way the 7.7 looks--the thinness and aluminum back really give it a premium feel that other Galaxy Tabs are missing. Of course, it's priced to match, but I don't regret the extra cost of the 7.7 personally.
The 7+ also has (and probably will continue to have) better dev support, so if ROMs and themes and such are something you're into, you might want to go with that one. Here, we have root, a couple of basic ROMs, and some statusbar themes.

Hi Mate
I won't go into the pro's and cons of each model but personally I'd suggest you get a 3G model and then get a GiffGaff sim. The GG Sim at £10 per month with no contract gives you 250 mins but unlimited text messages and unlimited data (I used 9GB one month with no comebacks). The biggest advantage of either 3G version of the tablet model is that as you can use them as a real phone you can use a proper GG sim rather then being limited to a datasim with a data cap.
There will be times (perhaps not many) when you'll need either two data connections or to make two simultaneous phone calls in a hurry and having the flexibility of two fully usable devices is irreplaceable IMHO.
By the way there was a 7 Plus in London on Gumtree yesterday for under £350 (nothing to do with me).
Good luck

This sounds like something that just happened to me...
I just a week ago bought a refurb tab 7.0 plus (from ebay) and used it and liked it very much until I noticed a dead pixel on the screen. Due to that I returned it and said to myself no more refurbs.
That aside I started to look for a new tab and noticed the Panamoz selling the 7.7 - http://panamoz.com/index.php/hot-deals/samsung-galaxy-tab-7-7-16gb-wifi-3g-wifi-android-tablet.html
I have ordered it and worked out to £425 for the 16gb 3G and wifi model with a replacement warranty (if it encounters a fault they replace it with a new one rather than fix it).
You can get the wifi model for £65 cheaper but for me it's so much more convenient to have a 3G model.
Thanks for all the input guys!
I took the time to have a look at the 7.7 in the Carphone Warehouse today. I have to agree with those of you praising the 7.7 - it really is a gorgeous tablet! I was surprised at how fluid the OS felt, even with that increase in screen resolution. Considering I can tether whenever I *really* want to get online (the Tab will mainly be used for uni work where there's wifi access, not to mention there are lots of free hotspots about London) and the added monthly cost of a data plan, I've decided to go for a wifi only 7.7. Especially since that link to Panamoz is pegging the 7.7 cheaper than the 3G 7.0 Plus from the outlets I've had my eye on.

Question about pricing when liquidation happen for a nexus device (6P)

So, i am from Canada and never really owned a smartphone with a phone line. I was planning to get a T-Mobile LG G4 broken box 9/10 condition on ebay for $180 USD, i would then get an unlock code on ebay for less than $5 USD and finally get a tablet plan for my LG G4 on fido ($15-20 CAD) for 1gb and get voip.ms for the phone line and sms.
I looked on the LG G4 forum and it seem it's getting way longer to get aosp build (comparing with my other device). Since the pixel phone's getting sooner to reveil and launch, i wanted to know when are you thinking the deal on playstore will happen and how much cheaper will they be compared to previews Nexus liquidation. I don't mind waiting until blackfriday, boxing day or even until Valentine day. It's mostly because i don't wanna answer my home phone anymore for nigerian hoax and using the new unused regional code would allow me to get the same number without getting ad and hoaxter. Do you think the 64gb would be under $300 and 128gb under $400 when it happen ? Would it still be a worthful phone to mod later ?
I was also looking for the oneplus 3 since the fingerprint's on the front and i love capacitive button and the silent switch look a good idea.
Thank
