I am running Batman ROM v 1.5. I switched from T-Mobile to Straight Talk and when I switched I completely formatted the phone and reinstalled. I installed the latest kernel, newest TWRP, and the newest CSC selection. Everything performs normally except that the phone acts like the SIM card isn't even there. It shows signal bars with an x on it. The SIM card has been activated successfully.
All I can think of is to flash the newest bootloader and modem, but I don't have any access to a PC to use ODIN with. Is there something I am missing? Is there a way to flash tar.md5 files directly from the phone?
TIA
Additional information... I seem to have lost my IMEI number when you look for it in settings, it shows "Unknown" for IMEI and IMEI SV.
I've never had that happen before. I am at a loss.

Update:
I ended up sending it to Samsung and they fixed it for free lol
Model: AT&T SGH-I337
Baseband: I3377UCUAMF3
Firmware: Stock/SHOstock
I bought a used GS4 on Swappa last week. Got it today, rooted w/ Kingo, and installed Safestrap.
I put in my old sim from my GS3 and can't get service on the stock FW or any SS-safe ROM I've flashed.
- All other radios (Bluetooth, WIFI, NFC, etc.) work with no problems.
- The SIM works on my AT&T GS3 with no problems.
Now the strange part is that the SIM is getting recognized, but is missing certain information. (See screenshot)
+ My phone # shows up and is correct
+ My IMEI is correct and matches the sticker on the back
+ Somehow, signal strength is showing up in service mode
I've attached screenshots of various service mode screens that could be of use.
Now the question is: What should I do/ how do I fix this?
Does this happen on both roms?
Honestly, I'd go get a new sim. Cheers
Yes, I've tried it on stock and 3 ROMs I've flashed.
I'll try my brothers ATT SIM when I get home today.
I'm also going to try removing Safe strap and root, then factory resetting.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
- UPDATE -
So I successfully removed Safestrap via ADB, removed root, and factory reset from stock recovery.
The no service problem still persists. I guess the only things it could be now are:
+ My SIM is somehow messed up, as xBeerdroiDx suggested.
or
+ The SIM tray needs to be replaced.
The original owner called me today and affirms that the phone completely worked before.
Does anyone know what else internally could be causing this?
- UPDATE 2 -
OK now I'm at a complete loss. I tried other working AT&T SIMs. Nothing.
Tried replacing the SIM/SD card tray. Also nothing.
I've flashed all stock MF3 and reset EVERYTHING.
I've even gone as far as enabling the service menu and doing a NV_REBUILD multiple times.
Only thing I haven't flashed is a new .PIT because of the signature checking issues with MF3.
It's weird, because I can get a signal if there is no SIM inserted. And I was able to enable data and LTE functionality at one point by messing with the service mode settings. But that was it. No calling or cellular functions.
Could it be that my /EFS partition is somehow corrupt?
I'm getting close to giving up and seeing if Geek Squad can send it in with no warranty/coverage. I don't enjoy having a $400 wifi browser.
Before you judge me by saying how i'm posting something thats done before, it hasn't, I've searched everywhere no methods work
Please, someone help me I've been at this for 4 days now and maybe just 15 hours of sleep :crying:.
The phone I have right now is the SGH-i337m Galaxy s4 running NC1 with MDJ modem (Kitkat 4.4.2) Does not detect sim, it says "No sim available".
I'm not exactly sure if the phone is from Bell but the phone use to be running fine on my old rogers sim card until I updated to their new ShareTap Sim.
With the ShareTap Sim the phone doesn't detect my sim anymore. So I tried my Share Tap Sim in another unlocked phone (Galaxy note 3) it worked fine.
Then I tried a Virgin mobile sim card on the S4 and it detected it and worked fine also. So then I tried to unlock it by flashing it with many different methods:
1. I tried flashing a older version of Bell 4.2.2 but it bricked my phone ( I already unbricked it back to 4.4.2)
2. I tried flashing the MDJ modem but it doesn't show the hidden menu.
3. I tried flashing ATT modem to try it but that also bricked my phone.
4. I tried to use the AWS tutorial shown here
5. I tried the regionlock away tutorial here in the third method (RegionlockAway doesnt do anything to my phone)
6. I pulled the modem.bin from the TAR file from sammobile of Bell's 4.2.2. But it still doesn't show the hidden menu! It's the MDJ modem but it still doesn't work!
I'm not sure whats wrong with my phone. When I put the Virgin mobile sim card in there it only shows Telus, EXT and Virgin Sim networks available not the whole spectrum which is what is supposed to happen with the 337_aws.qcn file from the AWS tutorial. Then when I flash MDJ modem from bell or the one from this dropbox link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2m3id2cx4l...37MVLUAMDJ.zip
It still doesn't show my secret menu.
The secret menu I'm trying to access is the *#0011# but if that didn't work I also tried the *#9090# It still doesn't show the secret menu. So what do I do now? Please Help!
Thanks for reading!
Sorry to hear that, but you are in the same situation i was, the phone was probably sim-unlocked by Box Software, like Octopus or Z3X Boxes as i did, the phone won't recognize some sim cards by unknown reasons, there is no fix avaliable for this as i changed imei, tried different NVM from other phone & even replacing sim card reader. i finally sold it & got myself a i337m unlocked via code.
Edit:
forgot to mention, My SIM stopped being recognized when i upgraded it to a newer LTE version
Kind regards.
Have you tried stock NC1 with the included modem? If the device is unlocked, you might have better success with SIM recognition. In my case, my device was not unlocked, so I Odin flashed stock Telus MDJ, then rooted with CF-Auto-Root, unlocked with RegionlockAway (KNOX tripped), and applied the AWS Mod.
Then I flashed stock NC1 with the incl. modem (root gone), and managed to get Rogers LTE and Wind H+ on the Telus device. From there, I OTA updated, and rooted with CF-Auto-Root, flashed TWRP, and worked my way to 5.0.1. Trust me I know how frustrating this can be, but thanks to this forum, there was a solution. Here's what worked for me (link). Good luck.
I need some help on my Grand 2. The other day, I had flashed a view ROM's from the Original Development section, and succeed in getting them to work. After a while (my bad for not noticing earlier), I saw that my card seems like it wasn't registered to network (Emergency calls only). Assuming that I did something wrong, I flashed latest 4.4.2 stock using Odin, and noticed that on stock, only Sim 1 is working. After trying out a few stock 4.4.2, and some other ROM, now both sim cards aren't working.
I checked IMEI, and both IMEI are still readable, so I don't think it's EFS issue. And I have also tried to flash modem.bin but it still isn't working. Using Odin to repartition and flash stock also doesn't work.
Does someone here have some experience on this and could point me to the right direction?
Device = Samsung Galaxy S7
Model # = SM-G930V
Software Info = Android Version 7.0
Build # = NRD90M.G930VVRU4BQF2
Android security patch level = June 1, 2017
SIM Card Status: Network = Unknown
Mobile network state = Disconnected
Phone status = Official
Hi all,
I got two Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 and decided to root one of them.
Prior to me doing all this the phone was successfully activated on the Verizon network. I could make calls, get calls, and the 4G LTE icon would appear and I could use CHROME to get onto the internet from the phone. Now all I can do is make phone calls.
Needless to say it failed and now I can get it back on the Verizon network.
Here is what I did to (attempt) to root it and what I did to flash it back to stock and where I am now stuck.
I followed the directions here:
http://www.samsungsfour.com/tutoria...r-and-root-verizon-galaxy-s7-and-s7-edge.html
Download "Odin for Engineering Bootloader" software
Downloaded "Samsung_G930x_QC_Rooted_BOOT.tar"
Flashed the S7 with that .tar file
After I finished the flash the S7 was in an endless bootloop. :crying:
So following the instructions here:
http://www.samsungsfour.com/tutorials/how-to-resolve-android-boot-loop.html
I did "Wipe cache partition" and still stuck in boot loop
I did "wipe data/factory reset" and still stuck in boot loop
So I found the stock verizon Roms here
https://www.getdroidtips.com/verizon-galaxy-s7-galaxy-s7-edge-stock-firmware/
and flashed the JUNE 26, 2017 G930VVRU4BQF2 which is what the phone originally had.
That got me out of the boot loop and into the verizon activation wizard and I figured I was finally cleared of my mess. But nope. :crying: The wizard failed saying that it could not connect to Verizon and I that I could use wifi to finish the setup.
So when I finish the setup I'm at the "desktop" of the phone. I can make phone calls but NOT get on the internet unless I have wifi on. Basically the phone's SIM card is not being recognized by Verizon so it won't allow it to get onto the network for internet but yes for calls. Not sure why yes for calls.
In doing more reading I think the EFS partition got corrupt. Form what I understand the EFS partition hold the data on what SIM card number is in the phone and what carrier that SIM card number belongs to. The phone uses that info to send to Verizon to allow it onto the network. But since that partition is damaged/corrupt/not on phone the network won't allow the phone back into the network. Right?
So how do i go about fixing that partition?
I tried "EFS_Professional_2.1.80_BETA" but that says I need to be rooted.
I tired turning off phone, removing SIM card, reinserting SIM card and reboot and that failed. (Off course it would as the EFS is damaged).
I tried using the VZW software assistant to repair the phone but it tells me the firmware on the phone is invalid.
Any ideas?
PS.
Stupid me I did not backup the EFS partition before I started.
Had no need to backup any data as the phone was new and it had nothing on it.
**UPDATE**
I got the phone back on the verizon network with stock rom on it!
I went to updato.com and looked for the stock rom.
Next I used Odin3 v3.12 and flashed this file
CSC_VZW_G930VVZW4BQF2_CL11447542_QB13858601_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
which was include in the .zip file of the stock rom.
My prior attempt I flashed with the AP_ file.
There are AP_, BL_, CP_, CSC_, and HOME_ files in that zip.
The CSC does a complete wipe of all the data on the phone.
The HOME_ does a stock firmware but keeps your data.
Note sure what the other 3 do.
In any case I'm back up and running but not rooted.
So what post should I read to unroot?
The only reason I want to unroot is to do moblie thethering as I have an unlimited plan.
Thanks
Need to flash ap bl cp home csc, use the latest version of pain to abouts fail. Make sure yuppies have latest driver for your phone. Ap is used four root, rest id's for the system files that probably gout somehow corrupt in some areas. You can also update your phone using Odin with higher stock version. I've tested it & it's safe
I bought used S8 that had clean IMEI (not blacklisted), it was locked on Sprint and with financial eliglibity. Before I got it unlocked it didn't recognised any sim card, after unlocking it did regular setup on my ATT card with all the ATT apps but it doesn't have service. Then I tried with Verizon SIM and it did the same, regular setup but no service. What do you think what's the problem ?
Phone build number : R16NW.G950USQS3CRE2
Is it rooted, and if it is, have you uninstalled any system packages
If not, try a factory reset and making sure the sim is active and APN settings are working and you have chose a network

It's not rooted, I did remote unlock with unlocking service and they flashed original firmware on it, nothing should be messed up.
I did factory reset few times as well as network reset. I double checked APN info and ofc it's setted up together with card.
I forgot to mention that phone is not showing up IMEI, actually nothing when I type *#06# in dial
that mean you lost imei ....flash factory firmware by yourself...it will do the trick

Can you explain me which one I need ? What about bootloader, is it the same ? I've checked thread about bootloader and mine is "carrier firmware", not unlocked.
Which career search for career. Look at the build number in abiut and search for that.
I'm using ATT and my phone was locked on Sprint, so I flashed Sprint firmware and It's the same. I put the SIM card in, it did ATT setup and all of the apps from carrier but it's still block sign instead of signal sign in top right corner and airplane mode is light blue (not usual blue like when you turn it on)
At least this time it's showing up imei in dialer
I couldn't find ATT firmware, if someone knows there's my build number in first post.
