Device = Samsung Galaxy S7
Model # = SM-G930V
Software Info = Android Version 7.0
Build # = NRD90M.G930VVRU4BQF2
Android security patch level = June 1, 2017
SIM Card Status: Network = Unknown
Mobile network state = Disconnected
Phone status = Official
Hi all,
I got two Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 and decided to root one of them.
Prior to me doing all this the phone was successfully activated on the Verizon network. I could make calls, get calls, and the 4G LTE icon would appear and I could use CHROME to get onto the internet from the phone. Now all I can do is make phone calls.
Needless to say it failed and now I can get it back on the Verizon network.
Here is what I did to (attempt) to root it and what I did to flash it back to stock and where I am now stuck.
I followed the directions here:
http://www.samsungsfour.com/tutoria...r-and-root-verizon-galaxy-s7-and-s7-edge.html
Download "Odin for Engineering Bootloader" software
Downloaded "Samsung_G930x_QC_Rooted_BOOT.tar"
Flashed the S7 with that .tar file
After I finished the flash the S7 was in an endless bootloop. :crying:
So following the instructions here:
http://www.samsungsfour.com/tutorials/how-to-resolve-android-boot-loop.html
I did "Wipe cache partition" and still stuck in boot loop
I did "wipe data/factory reset" and still stuck in boot loop
So I found the stock verizon Roms here
https://www.getdroidtips.com/verizon-galaxy-s7-galaxy-s7-edge-stock-firmware/
and flashed the JUNE 26, 2017 G930VVRU4BQF2 which is what the phone originally had.
That got me out of the boot loop and into the verizon activation wizard and I figured I was finally cleared of my mess. But nope. :crying: The wizard failed saying that it could not connect to Verizon and I that I could use wifi to finish the setup.
So when I finish the setup I'm at the "desktop" of the phone. I can make phone calls but NOT get on the internet unless I have wifi on. Basically the phone's SIM card is not being recognized by Verizon so it won't allow it to get onto the network for internet but yes for calls. Not sure why yes for calls.
In doing more reading I think the EFS partition got corrupt. Form what I understand the EFS partition hold the data on what SIM card number is in the phone and what carrier that SIM card number belongs to. The phone uses that info to send to Verizon to allow it onto the network. But since that partition is damaged/corrupt/not on phone the network won't allow the phone back into the network. Right?
So how do i go about fixing that partition?
I tried "EFS_Professional_2.1.80_BETA" but that says I need to be rooted.
I tired turning off phone, removing SIM card, reinserting SIM card and reboot and that failed. (Off course it would as the EFS is damaged).
I tried using the VZW software assistant to repair the phone but it tells me the firmware on the phone is invalid.
Any ideas?
PS.
Stupid me I did not backup the EFS partition before I started.
Had no need to backup any data as the phone was new and it had nothing on it.
**UPDATE**
I got the phone back on the verizon network with stock rom on it!
I went to updato.com and looked for the stock rom.
Next I used Odin3 v3.12 and flashed this file
CSC_VZW_G930VVZW4BQF2_CL11447542_QB13858601_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
which was include in the .zip file of the stock rom.
My prior attempt I flashed with the AP_ file.
There are AP_, BL_, CP_, CSC_, and HOME_ files in that zip.
The CSC does a complete wipe of all the data on the phone.
The HOME_ does a stock firmware but keeps your data.
Note sure what the other 3 do.
In any case I'm back up and running but not rooted.
So what post should I read to unroot?
The only reason I want to unroot is to do moblie thethering as I have an unlimited plan.
Thanks
Need to flash ap bl cp home csc, use the latest version of pain to abouts fail. Make sure yuppies have latest driver for your phone. Ap is used four root, rest id's for the system files that probably gout somehow corrupt in some areas. You can also update your phone using Odin with higher stock version. I've tested it & it's safe

Hello everyone
I come from China , and has a U.S. AT & T 's Samsung S4 (SGH-I337)
It has been unlocked, in my country can use China Mobile and China Unicom SIM card
I now use the official version of the MK2 4.3 ROM, I want to upgrade it to 4.4
And the use ib4stid SSGE-i337-XXUFNC9 the 4.4.2 ROM and ViSiON X GS4 4.4.2 XXUFND7 ROM
I would MK2 ROOT, then install Safestrap-JFLTEATT-3.71, perform the purge data operation
Then install this ROM 4.4.2-SSGE-i337-XXUFNC9 of
Written mldmodules, as well as the MLD AP CP BL three documents
Normal system start it, but did not detect SIM phone prompts
( Using China Unicom's SIM card , upgrade steps without error, I'm sure IMEI and EFS normal)
I follow this method of operating
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51067706
Because the MK2 system, so he referred to the use of MLD modules
MLD of AP, CP.BL three documents
Version 2 is for those that DID NOT take the NB1 update, and are still on a full MK2
Downloads
MLD/MK2-safestrap kit- http://d-h.st/LyA
Download all files, and extract them somewhere on your desktop.
Safestrap 3.72-- http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=45693712
Download a pre-rooted 4.4.2 rom (SEE POST #2 FOR COMPATIBLE ROMS and place on your external sd.
Reboot into SS, and wipe all except external sd. Install your pre-rooted 4.4.2 rom, and flash mld modules. Tap "Home". Enter reboot menu, and choose download.
Now open Odin on your pc, and add the MLD tar files ap>>ap bl>>bl cp>>cp. Hit start. Once finished, it will reboot, You should now boot into a rooted 4.4.2 KK rom.
NOTE- Once 4.4.2 is installed, download Safestrap 3.72. Install and open. Uninstall recovery, and then install recovery. Your SS is now compatible with 4.4.2. The only time you will need the mk2 files beyond this is when reverting to an mk2 system.
If you are already on an existing 4.4.2 rom, then uninstall 3.71 Safestrap app, and install 3.72 beta. Open, uninstall recovery, and then install recovery. Safestrap is now updated on your system.
The strange thing is :
To view the phone status in the device status , I see the phone has been identified to my SIM card and connect to the
China Unicom H + 3G network , but does not detect my phone number
But the phone can not make calls, there is no data network
Wait a minute it prompted no SIM
Please restart the device
When I returned again ATT official MK2 4.3
Phone is working properly , you can make calls and internet access
Please help me to solve this question, I want to use 4.4.2 ROM
My English is not good, I hope to get your help
Best wishes

Can't really make sense of this part. The phone can't make calls, that can be understood; but when you say "There is no data network", do you mean that it shows that there is, just that you can't connect, or does it display as disconnected?

I hit the mobile data switch, but it is not connected to the Internet
Can not make a call
I have made a prior thread regarding this issue in troubleshooting/help but no-one is biting and I REALLY need this solved. PLEASE.
I'm not a 100% sure how this problem occurred, I believe it was after flashing an S5 custom rom called: "RC Elite S5 Port V16" To my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (N900W8). From what I was reading it was a ROM that "converts" your note 3 to a note 4 or s5, while still having all the Note 3 features. Another possible cause is trying to use RegionLock Away.apk by Chainfire to essentially(unlock) the phone. I feel like this is the main cause though as this affects the modem on the phone. This isn't the SIM as I tried it in another phone and works fine with calls and texts.
IMEI and serial number show the exact ones on the box. I have the latest updated firmware (stock) from Samsung Kies 3 AND Sammobile. Here is a list of pictures from an app I installed prior "Phone INFO Samsung" from the GooglePlay Store.
https://imgur.com/a/grUQt#0
I skipped "DEVICE ID" section as it is 100% legitimate IMEI and Serial Number.
My phone doesn't want to register its mobile network anymore. When I try to make a call or text it says:
http://i.imgur.com/XlIc03J.png
I was reading online for about 2-3days now for possible solutions that can cure this. Such as:
1. Going into Mobile Networks settings and manually register [failed, details below]
2. Going into Mobile Networks settings, hold home button for 2seconds and then hold power button + home button for 15seconds [failed, details below]
3. Taking out battery while the phone is on and remove the SIM card, clean it and re-insert [failed]
4. Factory Reset [Failed]
5. Wipe Storage and re-flash stock ROM [Failed]
6. Turn on airplane mode, restart and turn off [Failed]
7. Reflash stock firmware without SIM card installed [Failed]
8. Completely discharge the battery, recharge [Failed]
Options 1 & 2 do not work because when I try to access Mobile Network Settings I get this:
http://i.imgur.com/JNS9C2Q.png
The SIM card is inside the phone though...
So what I did is found a mobile network options shortcut "program" from GooglePlay Store and installed it. It allows me to access the menu, which is great! Now, when I try to register the SIM card to my correct service provider (BELL CANADA)...it will make me wait for about 1-2minutes before I get "Unable to register, try later" error...even for automatic registration. Here are some more images from my stock from status info page...
http://i.imgur.com/arM0NM6.png
http://i.imgur.com/SsvmPA1.png
If you look, you can see I have full reception on my toolbar at the top...but, when we look at the actual connections everything is unknown and/or disconnected. Even my phone number!
I tried the factory restore with a stock 4.4.2 ROM from Sammobile/Samsung Kies3 and the issue is still there.
Is there anything that anyone knows that can help me resolve this problem? I tried EVERYTHING i can possibly find on Google.
Thank you very much in advance. This is honestly the more unique problem I have ever encountered and i'm in DIRE need of my phone.
Solution!
Bother, I'm sorry to tell you this but you need to restore to the factory rom, through kies on your pc, and after that go to recovery boot and make a back up of your modem and efs, then wipe all data, system, cache, dalvik and internal SD, install rc lite, and restore model and efs!
This works for me every time this happens when trying out new roms, good luck friend!
Hey all! I have made the switch to a Nexus 6P about a year ago, so I am quite rusty with the S5 and how to do things with it. I recently sold an S5 on swappa, and I am attempting to help that user get it back to stock. I would have done this before selling, but we thought the process would have been more simple.
To quote the user I am assisting at the moment "... I crossed into canada a few days ago, phone worked good with international plan. cross back to US and keep getting weird "not registered on network" messages and have 0 connectivity to my Verizon phone network. Tried new sim card, verizon store says the issue is because it is rooted etc (doubt they know what they are talking about)....But figured i'd do a clean install etc and see what happens. Followed instructions for Odin. From what i read it sounds like I need the OA 8 Lollipop retail tar..phone model number is SM-G900V. Keep getting "NAND Write Start!! FAIL! (Auth)" in Odin. Tried multiple USB cables and other random tips I found online. Any advice? Am I using the wrong stock tar?"
What can I/we do to resolve this issue? I have searched xda, but I am totally lost with the S5 to be honest. Things have changed so much since I used the phone that I have no idea where to start. It was on Alliance ROM before I shipped it. It has the Toshiba eMMC (or whichever doesn't have bootloader unlock).
Again, thanks in advance guys!
Some more info about the phone, I'm the buyer.
Still running Alliance. I do have an IMEI # (some sites say that could be an issue).
Model/Phone name is Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900V
Baseband Version is G900VVRU2BOK3
Kernel Version: 3.4.0 [email protected] #1
Tue Nov 17 20:06:51 KST 2015
Build number: AllianceROM_VZW_V10_G900V_XXU1BOH4
Knox version 2.3
Exact message I get is "out of service area" when i make a call. then a "mobile network not available" message will pop up after.

Silly question, but have you tried pulling the battery, and Sim, let it sit for a sec, then power on to see if you have service? Might just need to reset the prl. Never been to Canada with the phone so idk what's going on ha.
Could also check the data settings to make sure it's set to CDMA+LTE instead of global or whatever other options it has. You haven't flashed a new radio file, have you? @miketon907

Pulled battery out and sim. No service fix. If I turn phone on with sim card out, it will say "no sim card". back sim card back in, no net work connection....It is set to CDMA+LTE. No, I have not flashed a radio file.

Ok, just trying to rule things out.
You activated the SIM in the US and used it before going to Canada, right?
Yep. so Sim card A which I got after buying the phone was working good. I went to Canada and used same sim card on international plan, went back to US and suddenly phone loses mobile connection and has no service as soon as I cross US border. went to Verizon for sim card B, sim card B does not work either.

You could try just doing a factory reset on recovery if you haven't already. Instead of starting from stock. Just wipe the data partition. If you wipe the system partition it won't have anything to boot into
oh. Well i'll try that later tonight. Report back around 11pm est. thanks!

Try flashing one of the modems on this page. It should reset the radio to have service again. I'd do it without the sim card in. Boot once, you obviously won't have service since there isn't a sim. Then turn off the device, insert the SIM and reboot.
I am looking into the write fail now just in case you can't even flash a modem file.
Also, you downloaded the samsung drivers, correct?
EDIT: I found an old thread that might help you troubleshoot odin - http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...hacks/391849-galaxy-s5-odin-failing-root.html
EDIT 2: You might just have to switch to a different tar file. This user states that they used the same stock version as the one they were currently on. I'd give that a shot first. Then check to make sure "block reactivation" in security settings isn't checked. The exact directions that should get you going are from a user on that page, as follows;
"chainfire xda quote op-Follow these instructions to the letter. Do not touch any buttons or checkboxes that are not listed below to touch!
- Download and unzip the CF-Auto-Root-....zip file (see posts below this one)
- If you end up with a recovery.img and cache.img file, you've extracted twice. You need to end up with a .tar.md5 file - don't extract that one
- (USB) Disconnect your phone from your computer
- Start Odin3-vX.X.exe
- Click the PDA button, and select CF-Auto-Root-....tar.md5
- Put your phone in download mode (turn off phone, then hold VolDown+Home+Power to boot - if it asks you to press a button to continue, press the listed button, or run adb reboot download command)
- (USB) Connect the phone to your computer
- Make sure Repartition is NOT checked
- Click the Start button
- Wait for Android to boot
- Done (if it took you more than 30 seconds, you need practise!)
NOTE: Sometimes the device does *not* boot into recovery mode and root your device. Just do the entire procedure again if this happens. If it still will not install root and such, make sure that in Odin "Auto Reboot" is not checked. Then after flashing, pull the battery, and boot with VolUp+Home+Power button to boot into recovery manually. This will start the install process.
New to Samsung? Unfamiliar with Odin? Think all the above is a hassle? Get used to it. It's very simple, and us Samsung folk use Odin (or Mobile ODIN ) for everything! It's so very very convenient once you get used to it. Notice the 30 second comment above? For experienced users, the entire process indeed takes only 30 seconds!" - Dale Borrelli
Final note. Try the tar for the android version you are currently on first, then go up to the version you'd like to be on.
Edit: @miketon907 any luck yet?
yes, thanks a lot. flashing the modem worked. have service now again.
Hello XDA,
I recently purchased a H910 from EBAY.
I was able to install Oreo and root it using the excellent tutorials before I was able to have a working sim card on hand so I cannot confirm if this phone was good or bad as I received it. I am using an activated ATT sim card and have used it in another phone with calls, texts, and data working. I have not for the life of me been able to get the any of these features to work on the H910. I have checked the APN settings, I have confirmed both the IMEI number and the sim ID number with ATT. The H910 is able to see the sim card but no mobile network is connected. I can use wifi calling and texting.
I did make a backup/dump of the phone and have flashed the modems, fsg, and misc images with no effect.
I have tried to restore to a stock image of 10q and 20G with the results ending in boot loops so I have not been able to test the stock firmware.
Is there any way to test for a hardware fault?
I would like to avoid returning this phone for something that could be fixed on my end.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

are you sure the roms are flashing correctly ? no errors in TWRP ?
I have restored many times with those 2 files and never had a bootloop, flash the 10q or 20G rom then format data before you reboot

Ive had nothing but great luck getting phones off ebay, but it really sounds like you may have gotten a lemon.
The H910v20 is one of the easiest phones to root and return to stock the 20G rom should work and immediately ask to update to 20H with a AT&T sim in it.
taking the 20G to 20H update will insure you have all the correct modem files and APN.

clsA, Thank you for taking the time to reply, and for your excellent tutorials.
I tried both the stock(default) APN and manually entering the nxtgenphone APN info I was prompted by ATT but no change. Searches for a signal for about 30 seconds and the throws an x over the signal bars. The phone does detect the sim card and shows my phone number.
I do think it is hardware failure. All of the modem problems I have read have an error saying that the radio is off. I do not get this I get a message stating out of service. I also copied the Modem files from another stock H910 20H from a friend and that did not change anything. Their phone also shows signal bars even when the sim card is removed.
I checked the MD5 Hashes and they are correct on the SD card I was using. I saw no errors in TWRP and I tried 3 different flashing combos with both 10q and 20H. The first was to format device and then advance wipe system, cache, and dalvik, then flash, followed by format device. I then tried just format before and format after flashing, and then not formatting before and only formatting after and got the same boot loops with the 3 combos depending on whether I was using 10q or 20g. ie 2 different boot loops with the different zips. Once the boot loop started I could get to the stock recovery to "erase" the phone but that had no change. The only way I found to stop the loops was to flash the 996.kdz file using lgup and start over. The 20H file works perfectly. as does the 10R. It is really odd.
I am running Batman ROM v 1.5. I switched from T-Mobile to Straight Talk and when I switched I completely formatted the phone and reinstalled. I installed the latest kernel, newest TWRP, and the newest CSC selection. Everything performs normally except that the phone acts like the SIM card isn't even there. It shows signal bars with an x on it. The SIM card has been activated successfully.
All I can think of is to flash the newest bootloader and modem, but I don't have any access to a PC to use ODIN with. Is there something I am missing? Is there a way to flash tar.md5 files directly from the phone?
TIA
Additional information... I seem to have lost my IMEI number when you look for it in settings, it shows "Unknown" for IMEI and IMEI SV.
I've never had that happen before. I am at a loss.
