[updated] Sicve Tutor Assist V1.2 (for Italian users)

The italian Sicve Tutor system checks that the mean speed of vehicles between verification "portals" is below the speed limit (tipically 130 km/h) . Tutor Assist uses GPS to get the car current speed and helps the driver by:
- signalling current speed above speed limit condition;
- computing mean speed;
- signalling mean speed above speed limit condition;
- suggesting the speed to keep for a selected time in order to make the mean speed go below the limit;
- computing the distance required at the current speed for the mean speed go below the limit.
Tutor Assist can be integrated with TomTom Navigator to make easy the switching between them (for advanced used, some tweaking is required).

The program has two status, paused and active, and the Start/Pause button is to toggle between these two status.
During the paused status the program does nothing but show current speed. During the active status the program computes the mean speed starting from the moment the Start button was pressed.
Therefore, the program should normally be kept in the paused status. On entering a Sicve Tutor controlled road segment the Start button should be pressed to start mean speed computation and check. On the controlled road segment end the Pause button should be pressed to reenter the paused status.

Ok, so if i go to an "autogrill" i haven't to touch anything... i hope the app calculate the mean also if the gps loose the fix (in a build 4 example)

..What do tou think about a POI Proximity Alert? (in ov2)... so that the app give an alert when an autovelox/sicve is near.
..the possibility to change the speed limit?

the program doesn't see my gps antenna

I think your program could be very helpfull but, unfortunatly, I can't use it because It doesn't see the gps antenna.
I have a HTC Tytn with an external bletooth gps antenna (royltek sirfstar III) and I choose on your program the com port on wich the antenna is configureted (com9) but on the main window of the program appears this message in red: "error: com port COM9: is not on".
The antenna works correctly wich every other progra that need it (tomtom, igo and others).
Could you hlp me to solve the problem?
I am longing to use your program!!

Try to go to Programs->Settings->External gps settings, and assign a virtual com port to the ORIGINAL HW port (i hope you use com9)
So assigning a redirect from COM9 to COM6, you should use the com6 in all gps programs, also if there are 2 or + gps apps opened.

I'm not sure I have understand.
I've gone to External GPS (wich is in Settings and not in Programs in my device) and I've found 3 labels: Programs, Hardware and Accesso (I'can't translate in English, sorry).
In the label 'Programs' the gps port is GPD8 and in the label 'Hardware' is COM9.
How could I "assign a virtual com port to the ORIGINAL HW port" ?
And, then, how could I "assign a redirect from COM9 to COM6" ?

Ok, i've done this: I've gone to External GPS.
In the Hardware label I left the com port number 9.
In Programs label I changed the GPD port in number 6 and Ichoosed the port number 6 in sicve application.
Now in the software the error message is changed (now is "Error: could not open com port") but is still an errore message!!
It seems the software can't find the bluetooth GPS antenna.
Help please!!

try to use the settings that you now have with VisualGPSCE, if it work, don't close it and open also Tutor Assist.

Good day, i've install your software in my HTC without problem, when i go to set Serial port i've some error,like Status : Running NotSet.
I'use Com 9 like port and Baud Rate 9600.
This problem happens with a Tom Tom GPS and with another GPS Receiver.

cambiando i settaggi, inserendo tutor nel sdkregistry di tomtom6.020 e avviandolo non succede mai nulla.
resta sempre in "running not set"!!

Is there a way to use this excellent application on my Diamond?
I used it on Trinity and it was just great, bu now on Diamond I have an error message...
After I make the setup (Port: Com4, Baud rate=I tried every value but I think the correct one is 4800) I have the following red message in the top left of the screen: "Error: Error in process_gpvtg".
I tried the app on my friend Diamond too and the result was the same...
I noticed that the error message does not appear when I launch the application from inside my home... Maybe this mean that the problem is in the comunication with the satellites... I really don't know...
Any idea on how to solve the problem?

does character recognition so that it can be saved as a text document.

There's ScanR which seems to provide some OCR. Unfortunately it's a subscription service. Quite cheap though if you are really going to use it. Don't know how well it works as I haven't tried it yet.
There also seems to be TopOCR. and ABBYY has recently released a mobile ocr engine so hopefully programs using it will come out soon.

Evernote automatically OCR-es your snapshots that you upload to it, and indexes them .. and even works on hand-writing (see attachment) .. and on top of it all .. it's FREE!
Oh and just for the record (pun intended!) .. it indexes other things too, besides pictures: text notes, voice notes, ink notes, etc.

Windows CE 6.0 shell question

Hopefully this is the appropriate place. This may be a dead end but I thought I'd ask. EDIT: This probably belongs in the General section but I don't see a delete or move option.
I have a generic Chinese headunit in my car running Windows CE 6.0 with a very limited shell running on it. Is there a way to force it to close out of this or load another on the unit? My input options would be Micro-SD or USB drive via the USB host adapter. I can't even load programs other than whats built in except for the GPS software.

No offence jwoegerbauer, but I tried ceFFM on WinCe emulator and after correcting couple of Mortscript unclosed quote marks, I still got different Mortscript errors which I wasn't able to correct in a simple way. So I didn't dare to install it on my WinCE 6.0 Chinese GPS tablet at all. I also tried MioPocket Mini from here, it installed without problems on emulator. So I tried it also with the unit itself, but as it is still quite bloated and slow with heavy Mortscripts and also the interface probably needs some better graphics support, it's not very fluid. I ditched it and I am still using the original interface, which is fluid and through which after a very simple "hack" of replacing some exe files and redirecting them through Mortscripts to run my own programs from SD, I can basically start any program.
I suggest You first point to Your navigation path configurator (every Chinese unit should have one) to "desktop.exe" (You'll find it in gpspassion.com somewhere) and after running it You should be able to access the WinCE original interface and take it from there. Also before anything else, try to find out if it is possible to hard reset the device in case You get in trouble (probably not) and if it has a persistent registry (probably does), in which case You'll have to be VERY careful about modifying the registry. For example, my device has a custom shell, so if I would try to replace it with original shell from HKLM\init, it would brick my device as I have read others with the same device have "successfully" accomplished. Most safe would be to continue to use the original interface, maybe if You need some additional programs You could launch the "desktop.exe" any time from the navi shortcut and run the stuff from desktop.

Actually my goal is to play (downloaded) video in mkv format so I don't have to convert it in order to be recognized by my Head Unit. But in the end, my Head Unit can play mkv file, view office docs, play game and has a customizable menu.
Here what I do :
I'm using Chinese Head Unit which the GPS files are inside an SD card. Just try to remove your SD card safely and copy to a folder (let's say SDbackup) in your PC/laptop. Inside this folder, you will find *.ini file which specify the path to your GPS problem. Open this file. Mine (maplaunch.ini) is look like this :

iconpath= mobilenavigator\igo8.ico;
showname= igo8;
Then search for a PORTABLE (no-need-to-install) shell menu or application launcher, I use GPS Menu. Copy that portable launcher/shell to your SDbackup folder while keeping the folder stucture the same. I have no info about this chine head unit, Therefore I use portable launcher so I dont have to install and taking chance to brick it.
Then edit the executable path in *.ini file above to point at the portable launcher *.exe. (Mine become path= my_gps_menu\gps_menu.exe. I cand do this since the wince only lock the IGO map folder. If it's also lock the path above , then copy the portable launcher files into the folder path (ie mobilenavigator) and rename the gps_menu.exe to mobilenavigator.exe.
Copy the SDbackup folder to a new SD card. Keep your original GPS's SD card as a backup.
Try this new SD card on your head unit. If it's boot up perfectly, then you can edit this launcher to display your existing GPS apps and other apps. "GPS menu" has include some apps like tcpmp video player -which can play mkv & subtitles, music player, document viewer, game etc.(I guess the last two just for showoff ). You can also 'unlock' (accessing the wince desktop) the Head Unit,

Yes, "GPS Menu" is an application launcher.
If this thread starter simply wants to load another program in the Car's head Unit more importantly while Driving, probably all he needs are another GPS, media player and bluetooth apps - with custom GUI/large buttons and perhaps voice (to tell him that he did push the right button).
Maybe he thinks he needs another shell for this. While certainly a shell can do it, a launcher will do it too, That's why I wrote "shell menu/apps launcher".

What Model/Brand is that unit? It Looks familiar, I may have a way for you to get to its built in wince interface without any hacks.

I was using Pez GPS Menu. You can google it or try googling "Pez GPS Menu filecrop" (w/o quotes).
I said "was" because for months I've been using iphonetoday launcher taken from here http://code.google.com/p/iphonetoday/downloads/list.
Choose the PND/Pocket Navigation Device version.
However, this only a launcher, so if you want to play .mkv, .mp3 etc you need portable wince apps which bundled in GPS Menu.
Other option, you can use Wolf NCU : http://wolfncu.ru/ for launcher
Or mix it together, like I did. I use iphone today launcher which has icon for Wolf NCU

FYI:
Especially for use on devices with little RAM I recently have published MioPocket Mini 4.0 FV. It's made up on iPhoneToday engine.

Im looking at buying one of thesefor my wife car, do they work OK out of the box,? Is it easy to put on the maps for my country uk?

MCU1: 3.1 (8227L)
so i wanted to upgrade to android 9.1 and if possible change the ui which is quite ugly and the radio has a basic and ugly aspect.
can someone help?

before I had access to the engineering setup and now asks for a password I don't know

nitial firmware in which some of the sound adjustment functions do not work, even the activated hifi button does not work, the equalizer does not adjust the frequency of sound on the radio, partially compatible with the YT-9216 GU.
In firmware YT9213A_00005_V004_20191218_HIFI for GU 9216 / 9216_AHD / 9217 (2/32) all this already works.
I tried to leave it unchanged, but nevertheless, there was a slight modification. Namely:
TWRP
ROOT
VIPER
Radio_RDS from mclaught with the completion of the button background
Editor for radiomclaught
Window skin Settings
Skin window GPS Test
Returned the buttons and the slider in the "Sound Settings" section
Set the equalizer with the HiFi button.
That's all I ’ve done ... I don’t know how much more, unfortunately ))))
Things to remember:
Perhaps, after flashing, you will have the device’s firmware name changed to YT9213A
Immediately after loading, reboot the device
Sound on a volume scale of 17 or more -18Vol, has a slight "plug". Not critical for me.
After a full installation and overload, adjust the sound using standard tools (EQ, hIfI, Viper). I really liked the sound (installed audio processor CSC37033 and ULF PA2030A)

Hi, actually I think is 1 , the image shows the look of the main screen, by the moment I have change for agama louncher but doesn't have that look of a car unit you know, I have installed the original the the seller send me and now after a while the system reboot, the system they send me is

I have version YT9213A_00009_V001_20200225, XY 3.1 (82227L), CPU A7 1.3GHZ x4.
See if I find out things like reset the device or update it.
I hope to find information to update it, the touch screen has phantom keystrokes.

Pretty sure it's the same as the headunit discussed here.

Hi guys.
Need help with my chinese android headunit. It can't do the following:
1. it cant connect to other bluetooth devices (OBD2, tuning hardware). But it can connect to my phone.
2. cant change the PIN of bluetooth
3. Cant see bluetooth settings
4. When i do hard reset and even thru settings, after reboot everything is still the same.

The stock bluetooth is locked down by the manufacturer. If you get a USB bluetooth dongle that is supported by the Linux kernel you will be able to connect other bluetooth devices to it.

No you won't, because of the hacked BT stack.

You can use CarWebGuru launcher or Agama Launcher for better UI.

Yes you might be able to load a separate BT device and have it function with the hacked BT stack, but you won't get the standard BT stack. Period. Yes I have reproduced on my MTCD/E.

I am not exactly sure what you mean by functioning with the "hacked BT stack". Android is based on the Linux kernel and the USB bluetooth dongle is supported directly by the kernel. The software interface for pairing devices can easily be changed with apps from Google Play Store or F-Droid. I use my bluetooth dongle to pair to my BluDriver OBDII adapter which will not pair with the built in Bluetooth.
So, are you saying that I shouldn't be able to do this or is there some other point that I am missing here? Not trying to be rude here just trying to understand. Thank you.

What I am saying is that the chinese developers wrote their own BT implementation, the standard Android rules do not apply.

What the manufacturer's did to the Android software was not done at the Linux kernel level. Yes, the default bluetooth software will only pair with certain devices but that does not stop the Linux kernel from working with a USB dongle to pair with anything you want.

Android Car Stereo 9" : support request

Hello everyone
I am new to this forum and i hope to find the support i need.
Last month I bought a 9 "car radio with android 10 (2gb ram and 16 + 64Gb internal memory) on Aliexpress.
The stereo is fine and it is very nice, but the operating system is very rigid, and I cannot do many things: it is customized.
Bluetooth is the first problem: it does not have a setting and it is not possible to pair a device with a PIN other than 0000.
I asked the seller (Ossuret) for support, very kind, but not prepared at all.
Furthermore, the initial screens and default apps cannot be changed.
On the card it's android 10, but i can't install some apps:
YES: TomTom, Torque (but without OBD2)
NO: Netflix (only an old release). Disney +
ultimately, I ask if it is possible to install a firmware that makes it very similar to an android tablet.

Hi! I have zsdx too qnd pretty sure this is android 8.1 (you can check it on aida64, the sdk version should be same for 8.1)
And yes there is no bluetooth settings to change the pin. So torque is no go via bluetooth, you can buy the wifi one.
Netflix or other streaming won't work in the sense that these head units don't have widewine support. But some old apks can be installed

- Netflix : i've installed the rel 4.16.0 build-15122.
- Disney+ : no solution
- OBDII : i've ordered a WiFi one, not yet arrived, but i believe will be ok because i tried successfully an OBDII with USB cable.
my request is, if possible, to install a different version of Android, in order to be free to manage it and install all the common Apps.

Sadly even xda and 4pda don't have any modified firmware which may help. I was looking for a firmware with better equaliser but didn't yield much

Hi Friend
i got the OBDII WiFi. i can connect to the stero and Torque can recognize it.
but now there is another problem : if I connet the OBDii to the stero, i have to disconnect the modem / router i have in the car to use internet (TomTom, whatsapp),
how can i solve?

what I understand is that this device also supports the internet from Bluetooth. however, I have not been able to wrap my head around it. you might want to have a look at it
