Hi I have a PX3 based head unit and I'm wondering whats requried to enable the movable grid lines for reverse cam? I know that cars with ESP have steering angle sensor and thats whats used to move the lines, but what hardware/software is requried to make it work? With my current set up I only get the static reverse lines but I've seen Android head units which support this but not much is being said about how.
Any ideas?
You need a CANbus unit that decodes the sensor messages and a MCU firmware that knows what they mean or you can buy a backup camera with movable lines but those are not accurate for more than telling you the car is not moving in a straight line.

Hi Guys & Gals,
Just installed a generic rear camera that comes pre installed on the number plate surround, I am sure you all know the one I mean. Is there a way of turning off the default grid that I assume is imposed on the picture? I notice it is no where near as accurate as the one that you can use via driver settings on the android unit but do not really want 2 grids showing as that will just confuse.
Some cameras have 2 loose wires that you can cut (1 to disable the grid lines and the other to use the camera as a front camera). What I was wondering though, if the Android head unit is not fully booted up, would you be able to see those Android grid lines? Are you able to reposition the lines on the unit settings?

I have one of the latest Joying 2GB Sofia headunits, don't think it really matters which one.
What I do not have is a reversing camera and as I am not driving a bus or heavy goods vehicle I don't intend to get one.
So my questions are
1. Can change or tweak something so when I put the car in reverse the screen doesn't change (I know I could cut the reverse wire to the headunit but I like the feature which reduces the volume when reversing)
2. If the above is not possible is there a way to remove the reversing lines which show on the black screen when I am reversing? I am aware that there is an option for this but if I disable the revering lines in the settings I get a black screen with green text saying "no signal" when reversing.
Thanks
Test the wire, maybe is defective
FOr me works perfectly with Opel Joying 2gb
I have encountered the same issue. I do realize that if I leave the car in reverse long enough eventually there will be signal. The weathet has became cold I am not sure if there's anything to do with it

Hi Guys and Gals,
I have a no name brand 8 inch Android 6.0 head unit from China. Installed in my Honda HRV V. In the original Honda head unit my reverse camera came with dynamic steering lines (ie parking lines moved with steering wheel).
In the new android head unit the lines also move however the distance between the lines and from the rear distance is completely wrong. I can not find any thing in any menu to adjust the lines.
The OS looks almost the same as a Joying. The car menu pass code is 3386 same as Joying I think.
Can anyone assist? Surely there must be some way to adjust these lines? Every car would be different height and width. So surely???
Thanks all

Search forums, static image which can be customised
Did you ever find a way?
if it is FYT/SYU unit (mine is Joying, but there are many manufacturers who have used that platform), then you can exchange static image resources in main server app, there are AFAIK one image per turn degree, in both directions (left and right).
As i don't have can bus connected to my unit, i have modified only degree 0 picture to be in line with my car size.

I have a different head unit than this but on mine I found if you tap the display WHEN REVERSING a menu comes up with adjustments, both for color and the lines themselves. Perhaps yours is the same!

Would you please be more specific about exactly where these static images might be stored? I'm not very familiar with Android so I'm not sure where to look and since I'm not sure my unit even has static image files, I can't just search for them.
Hi to all.
I have two issues with the 2170B.
The Back (plate camera) A0115ZP is showing 2 lines when I want to park!! The one is wrong.. is there any way to remove the one?
Also, how can I increase the time of recording? It has a limit of 15minutes.
thanks

Hi! Your unit is an MTCE PX5 so you can head to this forum for any further questions.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android-auto/mtcd-discussion-questions-development
If it is showing 2 lines, most likely your camera is outputting the lines itself, and then the head unit is adding them too. Cameras usually have a wire loop that you cut if you don't want the lines, and I would recommend this rather than disable the one in the head unit. There is a mod you can do once rooted which lets you customise the lines, angles and distances.
Great! Thanks. I will install the Hal9k Mod v3.1.1.
Hi please, I need help to fix my andriod HU camera. I followed seller guidance to install and wire the device but it does not automatically switch on when I shift to reverse gear. And I had to install an andriod camera from playstore as I could not find any installed camera. When I manually open the camera in reverse, it work but the image starts from my left side instead of the center. The trajectory line appear from left to right. Can someone help? See pictures.

You need to connect pin G5 on the head units power connector to your reverse light power supply. This triggers the reverse camera to automatically display.
You should uninstall the Android camera app you have downloaded as it isn't needed.
These head units are vertical/portrait by default but have been modified to rotate everything by 90° to operate in horizontal/landscape mode. That's probably why your 3rd party camera app is sideways.
You should be able to view the reverse camera in 1 of the preinstalled apps. Try the app called "AV" or something similar.
Thank you for your response. I apprciate this. But I think I have connected the wires already as you advised. I had one PINK wire labelled BACK and one BROWN wire extending from the power. I connected these two wires to a RED wire extending from the Camera input. So, when I put gear on Reverse and manually open camera, it works but the image is inverted. I have uninstalled the playstore camera but the reverse gear does not trigger the (invisible) in-built camera.
The only pre-installed APP I have that could use a camera is TV. Also I do not have a canbus hency why I joined all wires together. I have also tried using just one wire, the same result. Is there a way I can rotate the camera orientation? I have been frustrated with setting this up. I have tried updating the MCU but no luck with the camera.

Is unit an FYT type? Post Android system information including MCU version
If you have a multimeter check that the wire you connected to pin 5 has 12v when you engage reverse. If it doesn't then it is wired incorrectly.
Yes it does have 12V. I'm thinking it has something to do with the software. Maybe there is no preinstalled camera that is programmed to appear when in reverse and also to remain vertically orientated. I think youbare right that these HUs are setup to open every single apps in horizontal mode and that includes third party camera. Question: Do headunits come with their own camera app? Mine did not come with a default camera software.
