I really want a stock andriod firmware for my radio, or at least one that has bluetooth settings. I havent been getting much help and surely alot of you smart guys have solved this , its just finding the proper firmware. Or just and app that opens up the capabilities. the manufacture or I should say packager is pretty much useless, Xtrons, so is this an allwinner? how do I get more detailed info so i can try out different firmware. Overall the system works great just disappointed the bluetooth wont connect to anything but cellphones.

Hello Guys
I am working on a small onboardcomputer for my motorcycle. It shall display some information about the engine and motorcycle in general.
First I planned on developping custom hardware with custom written firmware. The hardware base would have been an ATmega32 with a normal BLE SoC (Blue Nano, for whoever it knows)
However, today a friend brought the idea up if I wouldn't want to realize it on top of android wear, as an app for it.
Of course, this would have several advantages:
1) Other android wear apps would be available too, for example routing, or the remote control over music etc.
2) My "Board Computer" would simply be an app, what is easier to maintain than custom built firmware (think about flashing etc).
3) Solid Base
However, I coulnd't find any informations about running android wear on other hardware than you buy it with.
For example I looked if I can find a tutorial about how to run android wear on a Odroid C1 (which can run the normal Android) but coulnd't find any answers.
Why is that?
Regards
Kittenrainbow
It doesn't seem like wear is much more efficient than android. Also, as much as you can do without your phone, there is still a need to pair it with your phone....
What kind of bike do you have? Does it have any sort of OBD equivalent?
Hey
Sorry, it took me a long time to reply.
Well, there doesn't seem to be a way to install Android wear on custom hardware anyway, so the plan is dead (I don't want it to be a hack, there should be a official, reliable way to obtain the software).
Yes, the bike has an ODB-like BUS (it isn't "real" ODB, but some sort of it. I can read some parameters out of it, but normal ODB Libraries aren't compatible with it).
So, what I'd like to to with my boardcomputer is the following (less important things in brackets).
The computer should be paired with the phone over bluetooth, so the smartphone can stay in the pocket
Control the music player of the smartphone
Show a map with the actual position
(Show navigation data, so with routing and everything)
The idea to use android wear was because it supports some of this without big hacks.
And I don't want to reinvent the wheel

Why not just use another phone? Maybe even a custom mount for your current phone.
I am pretty sure you can control an android device with another android device. You can defiantly pull internet from one android to another via wifi hotspot. You could have all your music on it as well. You can find a cheap waterproof phone and custom mount it with a little fiberglass. This mount would even be removable. Anyway PM me if you want to talk about this further. I can help find all the apps you need.
i recently just purchased this unit.
KENWOOD DNX773S

I'm in the process of getting all of the kit together for the install and was wondering before i open the box and go through with it if anyone had any feedback on this H/U and how it works with AA and other andriod phone based features.
apparently, my galaxy S7 doesn't have the MHL protocol, so while i know i can always use any of the other features to get my phone screen to my head unit i'm always fond of having a hardwired connection just in case, so im also in the market for a new phone, if you guys/gals have any suggestions for a good phone that integrates well with this system i'm all ears.
any tips or hints is also greatly appreciated.
if interest is shown i'll be sure to do a full write up and review once i get this in and setup , the vehicle is a 2000 LX470...a nightmare of an install as it is, lol
Thanks!

Hi,
I just bought a 2006 X3 with what seems to be a crappy aftermarket head unit, from the brand pen-hui.
When I start the head unit it comes up with a BMW launcher app, offering me very limited functions. I am in IT and I'am used to admin access everyone to fix at root level, but I can't figure out how to get this access on this head unit.
The 2 things that really doesn't work for me is:
- I can't pair my phone with Bluetooth, and I can't unpair paired phones. There is a unpair button on the list of paired device, but it's always inactive.
- The audio app that reads a micro SD can't even work with a folder structure and just displays all the tracks in a list.
I believe it's an android OS under the hood, and I would like to access the Android experience so I can maybe upgrade it, or at least choose my apps/launcher, and troubleshoot my problems.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Find out some details first bud. What era is it? Might be worth ripping it out, flogging it on the bay of E and getting something better.
Now I managed to pair my phone via Bluetooth, but it will only do phone pairing, but no media pairing, therefore I can't play music from my phone. I have a Galxy s7, tried with my wife's iPhone and got the same problem.

Hey thanks Skezza, I appreciate your quick reply. I have no idea how old it is, but I suspect quite old, because of all the problem I mentioned, no recent headunit would behave like this. And if I can't fix it, I'll buy a new one, but I would obviously prefer to save the money.

Take a photo of the UI and stuff, we'll try and help. It could be an old Android 2.x unit. I've seen them in cars, even recently (saw one the other day in a Civic). To be honest, they're totally worthless at this point and pretty much useless too other than playing mp3's and discs. They're worth even less than a WinCE unit. WinCE is kind of timeless whereas those old Android units are now being heavily bitten by the obsolescence bug. Maps won't work (and if it does, it'll be an old version). The internet won't work. None of it will work mate.
To be honest, I love the 8.0 unit I've bought, but I'm entirely aware that already, it's a race. 3 years time, it'll be basically junk Best you can hope for is a few updates but realistically, Android isn't designed to last, whereas WinCE and the like is.

Your really should provide pictures of your MCU and used firmware.
Just guessing makes no sense.

Sorry to say, but I think you will only be able to connect phones and OBD on your device, even if you would be able to root it. The implemented BT-stack is not able to do it.

Ok.. i wish to connect TPMS as well.
Kindly help me to crack this..
Can we change the new os on this? I mean new android 11 version.
Please guide me to root it and help to read developers option too. I am not able to see the developers option anywhere as they hide it.

I am not able to help you with this unit.
You will not be able to switch any other firmware on it and there are some devices in the wild where the dev options are even not available.
You can try to push the firmware entry 7 times and may be you will get access to it. It´s often just hidden.
At least it seems that you bought the wrong unit for your requirements... I would prefer something like a Teyes CC3 as mentioned in this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/teyes-cc3.4189041/
These units are really better to root, there is an easy way to get updates, you woould be enabled to use other BT units as phone and OBD...
Yes they are not that cheap as may be yours, but you get what you payed for.
