Actually it happens to me many times i'm using AEX Rom with Latest Gapps and sometime Google Play Services automatically download Update Package from google server and then notification came in statusbar "Couldn't install System Update" i can't understand i'm on custom rom then why this happens and how to prevent it to happen?
even i'm using AFWall+ for disabling data of Google Services but sometimes i forget to enable AFWall+ after downloading apps and it happens
is somebody have a permanent solution for this?

About a month ago, I was having a problem with my Nexus 7 wanting to download/install a system update. I found a method online where I simply renamed /System/Etc/Security/otacerts.zip to otacerts.zip.bak. This worked and all was good for a few weeks.
Now, despite still having the renamed file, I am getting notifications for a system update again. I googled the problem and it appears that Google Play Services is now including the update service which is re-enabled each time the app updates.
Is there a new and improved solution to keep the update from downloading/notifying/installing? I have re-purposed the tablet for a child and rooted the stock 4.4.2 software in order to avoid ads which are not always kid-friendly and also to allow disabling Google apps that I don't want my child to have access to. I could take the update, but that would require undoing all the mods, updating, re-rooting and re-applying changes. I would rather not invest the time for a child's device that is working smoothly otherwise.
Trying something I found on another site. We'll see how it goes:
Install "System application manager" from the Play store (http://bit.ly/1mf6etg)
Install "Disable Service" from Play Store (http://bit.ly/1mf6XKL)
Download "Google Play Services 4.3.25" which will be side-loaded in a future step (http://bit.ly/1mf2WpT)
Go to Settings>Apps>All and find Google Play Services. Wipe cache and data. Uninstall any updates (I had to disable Android Device Manager first)
Install the version of Google Play Services that you downloaded in step 3
Run "System application manger". Tap "Filter" near the top until is shows ">Updated<". You should see Google Play Services in the list. Tap on it, select Manage, then select Convert and move to System Apps
Reboot phone when conversion is done
Open "Disable Service" and go to System Apps section
Find Google Services Framework and tap it. Uncheck "SystemUpdateService" (may already be unchecked)
Find Google Play Services and tap it. Uncheck "SystemUpdateService"
Reboot device again and hopefully be done with OTA nagging
After doing all of these:
*delete all account
*cleared playstore, google services, framework cache and data
*disabling and force stop this 3
*full clean restore(after performing this, I can download all my and new apps, but when update comes and try to install it, it gives me 489 error also)
still having this annoying 489 error even I did the steps above specially on updating apps because "sometimes" downloading new app is possible without error and sometimes it does 489 error.
I have 3 gmail accounts on my G2. When I tried downloading on my account 'A' and it gives me 489 error, I switched to my account 'B' and it will download it, and when I tried to switch again on my account 'A' then tried to download new app, it will work. But this only happens rarely because most of the time it gives me 489 error.
I have one solution to download new updates, and that is uninstalling the app and installing it which is really annoying and tiring to do specially when there is 5+ apps that have new versions and like I said, sometimes downloading app is not working it gives me this hilarious 489 error.
Last time, I really want to hammer this phone, but I think my G2 has nothing to do with my problem, it is the play store.
Btw I have:
G2 D80220B KK
Dori Kernel
xposed
Titanium backed up apps(i don't think this is the problem, because my last restore of these apps is since March 2014 and all installs and updates are working fine until last week)
blocked apps by titanium
*fused location
*google search
*location services
*smart screen
*smartshare push
*smartshare.beam
*street view
*tags
*talkback
*voice mate
I hope someone can help me here. Or is it possible to install new google play APK from others phone that don't have this problem? Really need some help here.
Thanks

You should be able to remove all apart from Google play services, framework.
For some reason it doesn't work for me. For example, if I remove Chrome, Facebook messenger breaks, relay for reddit won't start. This is really strange?
I'm using ES file Explorer to remove apps. Titanium says it has deleted but apps are still there after restart.
Any ideas? @callumbr1
Thanks

Hmmm strange. You should just be able to remove chrome as normal and just remove apk.
I would suggest remove the apps you don't want. Then boot to recovery and wipe cache. Then reboot. This should fix and apps breaking/crashing.
Im rooted and using costum rom i did uninstall all google apps even google framework because i had errors with google apps and i did reinstall gapps but i still get ssl network errors...

Right, I finally figured out what the issue was - it was the webviewer implementation, so when removed system chrome, had to defrost android webview and select it to handle webviews. Problem was gone since!
hello!
I'm having a serious problem in play store, as I can't download or update apps, it either gets stuck on "download pending" or "downloading"
things I've tried so far:
- clearing ps cache & data & even uninstalled updates, also tried different versions
- force closed downloads & download manager & even cleared data and cache, tried to disable and enable
- remove & add my google account
- wiped cache partition
- rebooting to safe mode
I'm really frustrated as I can't identify the problem,, one thing to add: when I reboot.. it somehow works for like 2-3mins then it stops downloading and the notification dissapears.. no errors or pop-ups, it just stops.. please I need help!
Check the permissions granted
Enable everything as a test
Google is getting ridiculously strict with them
Then disable 1 at a time.
Also ensure & test the same for its dependencies.
.
I'll be moving away from gapps soon enough
Do we really have a good alternate for GApps which just works as flawlessly as GApps without sacrificing something in return? Let me know as well.

MicroG, that's the only alternative way. But Gapps is only a collection of apps(except play store and services) so there are plenty of other apps.
But then it's not as fluid as what GApps is? What about Google Framework? I understand there is an option but its this framework that is stalling Huawei and other manufactures from staying away from Google Servies. I Believe this is the reason Huawei has recently introduced the HMS so that it would be integrated as smooth as what GApps and services provide? Otherwise, even though their are options right now they are not tightly integrated and cnt provide the seamless and fluid experience which Google can provide right now!
is there nobody who had faced the same problem.
actually i'm on AEX 6.6 Rom but my GooglePlayServices app always shows "System update" dialog in notifications and sometimes it uses my daily data limit to download OTA package but why i'm on custom rom then why GooglePlayServices download system update package
is there anybody who can help me fix this
