PX5 No Sound at all - Android Head-Units

I purchased a PX5 Rockchip rk3368, 10 inch display, 4gb ram 64 gb rom Octacore Android head unit. I installed it on my 2001 Toyota RAV4. The functionality is great BUT I do not get any sound what so ever! I had a single din Alpine BT aftermarket in before this and that still works perfectly! I've wired the wiring correctly but still no sound. I was wondering if I could root it or re flash the software to see if that's the problem?

Listing px5 rk3368 could apply to many different variants of units featuring rk3368 processors. It's a bit like saying I have a chrome toaster.
What does reseller or installer recommend when contacted for support. Also, list of steps performed to validate install.
Why would software be the problem.

Before you root or flash another rom I would suggest you contact your seller. Also did your vehicle have an OEM amp fitted? If so you may not have the right harness for your vehicle.
But definitely check with your seller.

I've Tried to contact the seller but no luck.
There's no factory amp in my car though.
I've contacted both crurfield and bestbuy. I even considered trying to bypass the amp if there was one

Check the options for canbus on factory settings.
Perhaps your unit is configured to factory amp
Did you double check your wire connections ?

Update: i messed around with the head unit and discovered that I do get sound. The sound that I am getting is the keytone feedback from clicking the buttons such as home/ volume/ back. But I do not get sound from any of the internal applications.

Strange one. Have you got a spare speaker knocking about? If you have try and connect headunit speaker wires one at a time to the speaker and see what if any response you get.

I know people do, but I would never buy something like this from that site. I always purchase from a proper sellers website and have proper customer service. Since using android head units I've been using Xtrons as the seller. The only problem I had with them was a unit specifically for my Kia Sportage that was slow as hell. Contacted them and sent it back for a different model replacement. Was all done within 4 days of contacting them. I might be wrong but that android version doesn't ring true to me. Apparently I've seen in the forums some Ali sellers are selling units that somehow have been faked to read android 9 and double memory that what it really has.
Really hope you get it sorted out soon though.

Hola tengo el mismo problema, alguna solución?

I recently had a situation with a Joying head unit doing the same thing. Purchased it used from eBay got it all set up in the house ( with no speakers connected) and installed it in our Toyota. I had no audio but I could hear the beeping sound when pushing buttons or turning the volume knob but no music from any of the sources. I believe the previous owner tried to flash a different MCU firmware which took out the sound in the head unit. I had to open the unit and look for the MCU board to see what the firmware version or model number was. In my case there was a round sticker that said TD6735d. So I did a Google search for that MCU found the original MCU firmware flashed it and I had sound restored. I hope this helps.

I have a Pumpkin unit. They have a distributer in the UK and Germany (I assume you're European with your Megane). I'm quite pleased with them. I bought a unit specifically for Toyota (I think only the connector was different) and it all fitted without problems. They have a reverse camera option which I didn't get, beeping sensors is enough for me. Internet reception wasn't great but I fixed that by installing a Teltonika RUT104 router with a special antenna and connected that over ethernet -> USB. Everything is fine now.

I've had mine installed for a week now. No serious issues That I couldn't figure out. YouTube videos helped a lot with steering wheel controls and backup camera. BTW, I didn't need a steering wheel control module for my 05 F-150. There are some differences between an Android head unit and an Android tablet. Just have to get used to it. I love it so far, just have to learn to take advantages of all the apps and features.

Android Head Units - how do I tell them apart?

Is there any easy way to tell which android head unit I'm looking at from the listings? I'm considering one for my 2009 Toyota Rav4, but I don't want to end up one with a bad amp, etc. If there is a guide somewhere, I'd appreciate a reference.
Thanks in advance!
You're worried about a mismatch? Usually you can message or email the seller or manufacturer and ask them questions to be sure

Thanks for your reply.
I've read a bit to know that some units are a bit less well implemented than others. I'm looking at the collection of random brands on Aliexpress that are specific to Toyota Rav4 model years with similar dashboards to mine, but I'm a little worried about things like the CPU (Allwinner versus Rockchip) etc.
Go for a PX5 unit. It will have an octo core A53 CPU by Rockchip. Check with the manufacturer if you can get either an MTC or FYT model (these are the guys that take the rock chip and make a module). Both of those will have custom ROM support.

I just bought a dasaita and it fit the dash 100% and was completely plug and play and I lost nothing on my 2018 highlander. It's a px5 and it works with my reverse cam string wheel controls and all my car functions.. I've got small complaints but for a 10 inch screen it's nice.

MTCD or MTCE. They are both similar. Only differentiated by software on the MCU. FYT is also good and apparently less buggy with bluetooth with some nice custom ROM support on the way.

Yes it does but you also have the option of lowering the music volume when.nav voice goes through and you can set by how much

Heaps of sellers but Joying is probably the best bet if they make a unit for your car. You can ask them directly if it is FYT.

I did, there is bt volume there however it doesn't seem to change a thing maybe a software bug?
What kind of radio did you buy? I am interested in head units but European prices are ridiculous, often 300-500 euro.
I am looking for something cheaper which would be customizable by installing apps from Google Play or mods from XDA. Generally the best if had same possibilities to mod as phone.
I do not care about sound because car is not a philharmonic place to do so, so "normal" quality is good too
Is there something what I want or I have to pay 500 eur because I have too high requirements for Chinese Head Unit?
When you say lowest volume, is it volume of the phone or head unit? Did you try to adjust both? If that doesn't work try reflashing MCU file. Nothing else comes to my mind.

Aftermarket Android Head Unit Canbus Decoder

Hello all,
I drive a 2016 Hyundai i20 which comes with a basic radio and music player. I am looking to upgrade to an aftermarket Android Head Unit, one of the many from Aliexpress (specific model not decided yet)
As per spec sheet, almost all of them support steering mounted controls.
So here are my doubts
1. I am assuming the steering mounted controls will be through Canbus. For this to work, do I need a canbus decoder?
2. If i get a canbus decoder, will I be able to get more information on the HU which was not previously available in my car (e.g the car shows a door ajar warning if any of the doors are open. Its generic and does not specify which door is open. With the canbus decoder, will I get to know which specific door is open in the HU?)
Regards
Canbus decoder yes or no. It depends, does it come originally equipped if so the just a decoder.

From what I can see I don't think there is a HU with CANbus decoder for that car. Most cars use analog switches for the SWC and don't require a CANbus decoder. Here's 2 known sellers that actually show you what's in the box, Shenzen Burgeon and Seicane.
The last one even shows you the car side pinout and there's no connection for CANbus. The Key1 pin is for the SWC.

Buy the dang radio you like and plug it in. If controls dont work after you program then order the canbus decoder. The 2 radios i saw are plug and play.

There's a small number of manufacturer and many more resellers on Aliexpress meaning that they sell the same thing. Check the listings for a picture or a description of what's in the box if there's a CANbus decoder you will see it. Units with decoder usually cost $50 more so if you see the same HU from different sellers keep that in mind.
Before you buy anything start a chat with the seller and ask about the CANbus. Be clear and specific about what you want. The face plate looks fairly solid but you might want to ask them to ship the HU no assembled to the face plate. Their packaging is not the best and if something breaks you're going to have to wait longer for a replacement and might have extra costs. You don't want to just buy something try it and send it back either, more time and money.
I checked Eonon and Xtrons too and they don't have anything specific to your car.

I have had an extensive chat with a supplier, and am getting a decent HU (4GB RAM, Android Pie) with built in DSP. He has said that steering control will work without Canbus and therefore is not needed. They sell the Canbus separately.
I was just wondering, even if the Canbus Decoder is not required for steering control, will it be beneficial to install it to get some more features on the HU (I am not even sure if it's possible), like the door ajar thing i mentioned in my first post.

Just for reference, to be able to use a CANbus decoder the HU has to have CAN high and CAN low pins and it also needs software support meaning there's a CANbus menu with an entry for the car make maybe even the model.
