Hey everyone,
I'm trying to use the heart rate sensor on the back of the phone in the Samsung Health app but obviously it doesn't show up at all.
I tried using a Magisk module for the S5 but considering I have an Exynos S8 it didn't even install.
I'm currently running Havoc OS 3.2 (the unofficial build from the cross-device section)
If anyone has any clue regarding what I can try to use it, I'd love to hear it

Hello there,
I've been searching for a while a ROM for the Samsung Galaxy S5 based on Marshmallow that supports the fingerprint scanner, the heart rate sensor and the IR blaster (yes, I even need that) since TouchWiz gets slow and kills my battery (not to mention that it's still based on Lollipop).
The question that I have is, Is there any ROM available that supports all of this features? On what variants is it compatible?
If you have seen, or even tested one with those features, please let know all of the other S5 owners.
Thank you in advance.
im thinking until will Samsung made official MM (and free source codes) until that will be not supported in any rom
Thank you for that quick answer.
I wonder if Samsung will make the fingerprint scanner compatible with Marshmallow's Fingerprint API so it's easier to support on custom ROMs.
I have a US Cellular version currently running CyanogenMod 13.0 and I can use the pedometer, heartbeat detector and infrared TV remote just fine. The only sensor that does not work is the fingerprint scanner which is not and will not be used on any AOSB based version due to closed sources. Good luck!
Oh really? Well, that makes everything even more nice. I hope Samsung releases the source code for the fingerprint scanner soon.
Thanks for your answer!
I know what rooting and custom ROMs are, I had a Nexus 5 and I was a flashoholic. In weird turn of events now I have an S5 and some questions popped up. Here they are (You can answer just one or few, I'm just interested in everything, so maybe that is too much questions a bit, sorry) :
1. What stuff would I lose if I went away from stock to LineageOS? (Camera blobs, fingerprint scanner, heart rate monitor, gestures, etc?)
2. Is the battery saver on stock comparable to alternatives on LineageOS (or any other ROMs)?
3. What are advantages of Lineage over stock? (Other that getting rid of all the bloat)
4. How can I get maximum battery life on my G900F?
5. Can I flash other S5 version ROMs on G900F? ( I know that probably not, but what are the most simmilar versions that wouldn't brick if I flashed baseband/recovery/bootloader on mine)
6. Battery mods?
7. It's my first time having an Amoled device, now most of my things are set to total black for battery saving reasons, any tips and tricks?
8. Tell me anything you think that I shloud be aware of.

1. Oh..
2. That is cool! How does it work?
3. Yeah, I never saw stock running faster than CyanogenMod, same probably goes here.
4. Thanks, I used greenify on my other devices.
5. So, just this one, ohkays.
6. I meant hardware mods. Like on Nexus 5 you could cut a piece of metal and insert a LG G2 battery, which was bigger in capacity. I know there are "increased capacity" batteries for S5, but I don't know which are legit.
7.
8. Okay
How or where do I change the refresh rate in a custom kernel, I have a J5 Pro, and all the custom Roms use the same kernel that runs at 70hz, and I don't have an genuine screen because mine broke and I can not stand the Stock Rom anymore... ( I can't use 70hz, my screen starts to flicker when turn off and on ).
Sorry bad English. Since no one there answers me I came to ask a little help here.

Hello sir..sir anan already updated his helios kernel with 60hz refresh rate on it.
I already tested it and all works fine..no flicker anymore
[Review & Question] Short review on Evolution X 4.4(Exynos). What ROM are you using?
Greetings, fellow S8/S8+ users.
I flashed Evolution X v. 4.4 with RZ kernel (non-treble) on my Galaxy S8 (Exynos) a few months ago. I have been getting fluid performance and decent SOT times/battery backup. However, I have noticed sudden FCs/crashes and the screen blacking out and occasional freezing that fixes on its own after 5-10 seconds. The only bug that bothers me is the camera. I have tried a lot of Gcam apks and configs but none of them work smoothly. They have some flaw or the other. Even the stock camera which was replaced by Footej Camera in the last update has bugs, crashes, etc., etc.
I want to try a different ROM now; I am seeking for suggestions & recommendations from other users. Please share your device name, ROM and your experience on it.
Thanks in advance
I tried hades and alexis rom. They have bad camera quality.
Photos look awful in low light so I decided to try side by side test with S8 never rooted. I was shocked by the difference.
Then I flashed stock firmware and compared again. The phoo quality was a lot better but can't match the S8 never rooted. (The comparison was between S8 and S8+ with exynoss variant)
So I ended up using stock firmware with custom kernel. Using this combination since February.
Now I'm wondering to flash Light rom (pie). The curiosity for flashing began from one video in youtube showing Galaxy Note 8 (with pie) flashed light rom with nougat 7.1.1
https://youtu.be/ZjRYMysbq34
So what do you think, is it possible to downgrade to nougat (7.0)custom rom our S8/S8+?
Battery life was awesome as I remember, and feel little nostalgic with the old software.

yes, it is possible to downgrade to Nougat but for that your phone's bootloader has to be downgraded too, which all in all is a big hassle. I would recommend to stick to Pie (9.0), also consider that Pie is much newer, refined and definitely better in more other ways. The performance boost is appealing, but my preference would be Pie. You can try HorizonROM. I used it as a daily without any complaints. I just like AOSP more and hence i parted ways with it.
Happy flashing!
Dear guys,
i'm thinking about rooting or installing even a nice custom rom on the samsung galaxy a51 i just recently bought last week. i'm not sure, but in the past on other phones like nokia 7.2 or even more earlier on sony xperia and htc, i always got problems after it. phone app didnt worked, apps crashed, stock launcher didnt work, camera quality is lower than before and such. the worst thing i ever experienced was the massive increase in battery consumption. my battery was empty in half of the time.
so how is it with galaxy a51? will it increase the experience or will i hate my decision of rooting or even better - custom rom'ing it? its more a question of opinion, since i know that it would be possible. i just dont want to ruin my new device and gain disadvantages from the things im doing. but maybe there is something good that can happen out of it, so i just simply as for your opinions and ideas
Hi!
I use the current firmware with root and get pleasure from it. Nothing flies out, everything works perfectly, the battery holds the same. But I'm having trouble assembling custom firmware (GSI), and I have one firmware, but I haven't tested it. But in the near future the performance of this firmware should be checked by another person. At the moment, topical custom firmware under the 4th. On custom firmware, surprisingly, I work many functions. But sleep did not like how the fingerprint scanner works (on some firmware is highlighted not a separate area of the screen, and the entire screen). In addition, there remains the question of the full performance of the cameras. In terms of performance, custom shells should be faster, but the Havoc I tested seemed to me to be two more glitchy than Samsung's own shell.
My opinion: if you like OneUI and you want ROOT - you can get a lot of stock firmware.
Hello,
You can try this
Note:
1. Your phone Unlock Bootloader >> Click here for tutorial Unlock Bootloader
2. TWRP >> Click here to install TWRP for A51

Custom ROM for A51 >> https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-a515x-refinedui-v1-0-oneui2-1-android10.4220373/
I am planning also to do these, unlock bootloader, install TWRP, root. What are the requirements needed for this? Version? Build? Exact model of A51? Will all applications run if I do these? Thank you
