Hi tere, I bougth an usb sync/charge cable on ebay, I use it for a couple of hours, It works well but now it's switch off by hiself and the right led is become red. I can't switch it on! do I burn it?
Possible solutions
1. Put the XDA in the cradle and charge it
If this does not help
2. Do a soft reset with the stylus, I have had one hang where I had to do this.
The red LED indicates a message or missed call.
Regards
Michael
thanks, I tryed to soft reset but it still doesn't work, I removed the battery and I recharged it in the craddle, now it works but i lost all my data becase when I insert the charge battery it does an total reset. I think the usb cable instead to recharge the battery decharge it.
usually when I have a missed call or a new message, the red let doesn't flash.
you cant use USB to charge XDA2!!!
the usb port only gives out 1amp max and it has to share that amp to all the devices connected on your pc via that usb port.
XDA 2 needs 2Amp to charge up
so charging via usb will drain the battery instead of charging it lol.
gaz
I charge my XDA 2 via USB and it works...
I can't figure this phone out with regard to charging.
1) Won't charge via computer USB (I've heard the reasoning for this - still seems stupid)
2) Charging w/ 1amp 5V wall charger - phone screen is non responsive to touch, but phone charges (unplugging it unfreezes the screen)
3) 1amp accessory USB charger, won't charge the phone at all.
Are the charging limitations software or hardware based. I can't come to terms with the fact that this phone can't at least charge by USB. It doesn't need to be lightening fast, but it should at least charge.
Is there anything that can be done?
are u using OEM charger and USB cable ?
charging by USB
My phone charges with just the USB cord and a PC, It is a bit slow to charge that way, but it charges. Are you sure you are using a powered USB port?
it will charge via USB, you just need to install the motorola drivers. it needs more current than the original USB standards allowed for. USB can provide that current now, but you need the drivers.
Not OEM
None of the above are OEM chargers and the cables are no OEM either (Wouldn't think the cable has anything to do with it).
Since i am out and about a bit, i have to have a portable battery powered backup charger, i also carry a wall/car charger that is capable of doing both at the same time.
cable has nothing to do with it. The power requirements are strict for this phone, and it's all down to the proper way to charge the battery.
I know for a fact that the generic energizer car charger i picked up with interchangeable ends for different USB types works perfectly for this phone. It might be worth it to just jump on ebay and grab another OEM battery instead of trying to run around with chargers.
have you measured the output of those 1a chargers? i have an adapter from china that says 1a but only puts out 0.3a and doesnt charge my atrix either.
I am still using the chargers I had from my blackberry 8900. The bb wall charger works great. The car charger (att) with the flip cover over a usb makes my phone hot as hell but it still charges.
Think i've also found that, once you have the motorola drivers installed on your computer, disabling the data connection to the phone (as in selecting "None" for the USB connection option in the notification pane after you connect the phone) seems to allow the phone to charge a fair bit faster over USB. Kinda makes sense too when you're thinking about it... since it wouldn't be constantly accessing the phone as a storage device.
Yes some wall chargers dont work i.e. the two I had from my Nexus One, BB chargers seem to work well as I believe they needed more juice to charge in the first place, for the usb cable, the best solution to try is getting the updated usb drivers as mentioned.
I'm running:
GEN2
Rooted
ClockworkMod
Swedish Spring Android 2.2 with Gingerbread theme and circle battery
Suddenly after a few weeks of everything working fine, AC charging stopped working. USB charging still works perfectly, and when I plug the phone in it says it is AC charging, but the charge level barely changes - it can be plugged in for 12 hours and not gain or lose any charge. Also, sometimes but not always, the phone becomes very very slow, and sometimes the screen won't unlock - I have to unplug it, unlock, then plug it in again.
I've tried different chargers and cables and combinations thereof, I've tried turning USB charging off or on in Extra Settings, I've tried debug mode on USB or not, hardware acceleration on or off, I've tried charging with the phone off or on, screen on or off, I've tried charging it for 48 hours, the charge level never moves.
This is the closest thread I can find on the issue but it is a mix of problems, and they never find a reliable diagnosis or solution:

I don't care if it charges slowly, I'm thinking of trying to mod a USB cable to force it into USB charging mode. Anyone know how?
I far prefer this to re-installing because whenever I connect my phone to my laptop it immediately bluescreens, (despite a fresh Win7 reinstall), and I am lost on my gf's Mac.
These posts describe how to do the opposite (force AC mode) on HTCs:

Thanks enormously for any tips
Chris
Since I lost my charger and had to use a generic micro-USB charger, I have the same problem. USB charge works fine.
May be a problem with the USB cable, have you tried using another one?
(I'm on Ginger Stir Fry, but I don't think it is ROM dependent. )
Thanks for the thoughts. I've tried different cables and chargers and combinations thereof to no avail, hence suspecting something software and looking to mod a cable to force USB mode.
Please anyone know what PINs indicate laptop USB rather than AC USB?
How does my phone know to go into the (disfunctional) AC mode?
Thanks
I think D+ and D- pins (2 and 3) are connected. You would have to mod the charger. Or just use generic USB charger, like those from dealextreme...
Hey guys my phone S6+ has been acting weird recently , I might have been caused by an update or something. :crying:
A) While phone is powered on , I cant charge it via computer or just regular charging methods.
B) I noticed that "USB connected/disconnected" displays in notification while theres nothing connected to it.
C) While phone is on, it gets frequent "charging connect" messages while placed in Samsung wireless charger ( blue light blinks when this happens) , seems to get dc for some reason
D) While phone is off , no complains from wireless charging as its LED status stays blue.
has anybody encountered this "bug" before?
So when wirelessly charging while the phone is on, it continuously stops charging and starts charging again? But when its off, it charges normally?
If you are not, try using the stock cable and charger and see what happens then (for both wireless and wired charging)

did it help?
And do you have a link to the charging pad youre talking about?
no computer recognizes the tablet. no notification or warning when usb is connected to pc. only charging .
i also noticed that the tablet does not charge when its off. but charges fine when switched on. what can i do to resolve thsi issue
It should charge regardless on or off. Use this tool, it will tell you tablet is drawing current properly, the charging current should be around 1.5 Amps with working USB cable and charger.

USB connector has separated pins for data and charging. So it's normal if a tablet can charge but not data transfer or vice versa.
USB connector is cheap, only around 50 cents but you should know how to solder. A repair shop may charge you more than $50 to replace this 50 cents USB connector.
It takes only 5 to 10 minutes to change the USB port.
