How-to:
Battary improvment for Windows (try if it works, if not change back)
The main problem is very old (year 2006) driver of "Intel SD Host Controller", they are 3 in Device manager. Only thing what you need is update driver.
start Computer Management (hold My Computer and select Manage)
select Device management
find SD Controllers, if you click on it, there are 3 "Intel SD Host Controller"s
hold on every one controller, select "Update Driver", select driver from computer, and there is another option "SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller", install driver, confirm restart of computer after last update install
reboot
Sync time between Windows and Android
Go to "Run", type in "regedit", then navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\TimeZoneInformation
Add in a new REG_DWORD, "RealTimeIsUniversal" and set its value to 1

Should be possible, but you have to reflash a diffrent bios file -> if something bad happens, you'll have to open it up and use a SPI Programmer to get the device working again.

A tool, to reprogram the bioschip manualy (something like this: http://www.ebay.de/itm/EN25T80-Prog...TO-TTL-/321557451931?pt=Wissenschaftliche_Ger )
And belive me: you don't wanna do that.
It's 119$ on banggood with free shipping 7-25 days. Banggood is a trustworthy company, I got lots of stuff from them (genuine Sj4000 cams especially) and haven't had any problems. They even refunded me once because my package was lost. So it wasn't their fault and still refunded me, though they lost money. I am going to order it today.
I ordered mine @ Tinydeal for around 100€ with free shipping with postNL within 10-15 Days.
I also bought one, DHL delivers tommorow. I hope will be supported here
Can anybody tell me what eMMC and other components this tablet have? You can check it in Device manager. Maybe do some photos and upload them or simply write them here in a post. I want to know if it is equipied with brand hardware such as Realtek Wireless network adapter, or Hynix eMMC, or Toshiba USB 3.0 Driver instead of some cheap chinese no-name hardware.
check this video of Chuwi Vi8 out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n23wVUvVU8E . This is what I am refering to.
Most of them use the same board. And even brand hardware compontents can't guarantee that everything works fine (-> the Teclast x98 air has brand hardwarebut some issues).
Importent is, that everything works fine

I asked this because that cheap 99$ Chuwi Vi8 has Hinyx eMMC which is faster even than X98 Air. I do not quite need the Android OS, so if X80h does not have that eMMC I won't buy it and will go for Vi8 instead. That eMMC does a lot of difference.

Sorry for the off-topic question, but I am just curious how this DHL works.. Many Aliexpress members told me that I pay them ~40$ for DHL shipping and then I'll have to pay import charges as well. What is this after all?

DHL express is fast international shipping method. I bought my tablet on 31 december, and tomorrow will be delivered. The tablet was with DHL shipping $125 and i will pay ~$25 TAX when delivers to me.

those charges depend on where you live. In germany for example, you'll have to pay 19% of the tablet's value.

Oh, I see, so I have to pay the VAT of the tablet. I'd have to pay 24% then. Thanks for clearing this out.
I have a question regarding X80h tablet: I've seen that X98 Air supports 64GB/128GB microSD card when running Windows. Does X80h support as well? At least a 64GB card? Anybody knows/tested?
HI guys, any idea about X89 dual boot model and its battery life...Any one using it or used it?
Internal hardware
Ok, I managed to get some screenshots of the Device manager. The things aren't that bright that I have expected. It's got a BIWIN eMMC., not the Hynix, so much lower speeds. Other than that, everything is standard, as most other tablets have. But that eMMC was a crucial thing. Check the photos I uploaded

Wouldn't say so. Check out these two photos. The X98 Air has the BIWIN eMMC same as X80h while Chuwi Vi8 has the Hynix. You can see huge differences between the two.
The overall speed depends on so many things - let's see how the tablet performs in everyday usage.
I've a Schenker Element & Voyo A1 here and I'll compare and report how the teclast x80h performs against them
Hello folks
I ordered my Huawei Mate 8, 4GB RAM, x64 Octacore, 128 GB of internal storage on the 23rd of January 2016 from Amazon.it. On the 27th of January, the DHL arrived and delivered my phone! Since it came from China I had to pay 29 euros tax! I contacted the vendor and got this money reimbursed to me in no time.
So what is my first impression?
First of all, I have to say that the phone I got is destined to the Chinese market and not the European market. In fact, there are built in apps that even if you perform a hard reset and select English as the default language, some apps are still in Chinese.
From the hardware perspective, I can't say anything against it! Mate 8 is a real beast and dwarfs any other phone I've seen in size and performance!
What I personally didn't like about the device isn't the hardware, but the software and apps found/missing. After a complete reset, I thought I'd be able to login using my Gmail account, but there were no Google apps installed! So I had to download then from the browser
After I installed Google Play, I also had to manually download and install Google Contact Sync to sync my contacts!
The dialer has a Chinese app called Yellow Pages that you can't remove if you are not rooted. When you start typing numbers, it will automatically search YP and try to match the number with the company (paste the below path and add http to it. I'm a new user and apparently I can't post images yet)
Image here http://postimg.org/image/n3a6br0cj
The HiApp application also is entirely in Chinese
http://postimg.org/image/r5wsiudv7
The stock browser also is in Chinese and many other applications. If I am to give an advice to anyone, I'd say wait for the European version to come, because the device is really rocking, but the Chinese language might be irritating especially that you cannot remove some apps because you need root access!
Huawei permits you to unblock the bootloader, BUT, your device must be registered and you must have a HUAWEI ID and you must be using that device for at least 14 days (i.e. logged on, with Huawei ID on that device for at least 14 days). This isn't a problem, I can wait, otherwise with 4 or 5 euros there are some unofficial alternatives, but I prefer the official way, so I'll wait.
This is my device before I received OTA update (I live in Italy) while at home with my wireless connection
http://postimg.org/image/pm523nt4r
Is there a way to flash a European ROM to this device?
Will it work fine?
Does Huawei have any stock repository of ROMs to flash back?
Thank you
say what now, u got reimbursed by the seller because u had to pay import tax?! um.... isnt that a given when u order something from CHINA to ship to europe? btw, 29 euros is nothing, especially for the 128GB variant! are the import taxes THAT low in italy? dayum...
as for the chinese apps, even a factory reset wont remove those, since theyre preinstalled system apps. ud need to root your phone and use an app like titanium backup to properly remove them. or you can use something like debloater app and disable those apps...
yes, the thing with the google apps is actually a known thing on the chinese mate 8 phones. only the international models have those preinstalled. but good work on figuring out how to setup everything properly on your own
as for your last three questions, just take the time and read through the mate 8 forums here on xda, weve already accumulated a lot of info and experience and are still at it
enjoy your new beast!
cheers
Thanks
Thanks for replying mate. Yes, I've just seen a thread talking about flashing a European ROM to a Chinese phone and it worked. The thing I didn't like is that the user had to pay 20 dollars to download it from an Iranian site... Hmmm, I'll pass and wait patiently for a more secure version.
Thanks for the heads up
Taxes
Oh by the way, taxes in Italy are high, but the vendor (EtoTalk) didn't declare the official price on the package to avoid taxing!
Yes, that is what I expected, if I buy something from Amazon.it, then everything should be included in the price I pay. I contacted the vendor from Amazon then sent him the DHL receipt and in one working day I was reimbursed. I know, 28 euros are nothing with respect to the phone itself, but why leave them anyway? I could buy a good cover for it as I don't like the Golden original flip cover it came with!
nothing "unsecure" about that, im actually sporting that version on my phone and it works brilliantly
but, just so it happens, a new B152 international ROM is available now: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mat...32b152-ota-t3307707/post65135452#post65135452
edit: good job with getting reimbursed, i was just surprised, thats all
first of all congratulation for buying this nice phone
really am also so interested in buying this phone specially 128gb of internal storage

i read ur post in this thread but is the Chinese apps and missing a main google apps is so bothering u and make u to search for flashing European firmware instead of this room !!!
one last question ( is the Arabic languages available in the languages list or not )
thnx
well its not like i speak or understand arabic, but looking at the languages one is able to choose for the system, it seems there are a few language options with arabic type letters

For international rom yes for sure.

Also the Chinese phone has Arabic support. I managed to change the entire phone language to Arabic.

Well, I discovered that the Chinese version has got its own application the replaces the Google Play service (maybe in China, they don't want the Google Play Service as in the rest of the world). The application is part of the Chinese firmware and is called HiApp. When you open it, it gives you all the applications in Chinese, but if you search for Google Play it will give you the official Google Play to install through this application. So basically, you have everything in this phone. I am not aware of any 128 GB international version of Mate 8. Maybe there will be one in few months, but I am not the one to speak for this. Actually, the reason I bought this Chinese version is because my old device was broken beyond repair and I badly needed an Android device, and I couldn't wait more. And since I wanted a 128 GB internal storage along with my lovely 128 GB SanDisk SD, now I have about 250 GB of storage to travel with! I didn't know that the device will be Chinese, I thought it would be the overseas version sent from China.
I payed 777 euros for this version, which isn't small, but with respect to what I would have payed for the same device in Europe, I think I have spared at least 200 euros.
The vendor was kind enough to change the UI language to Italian, so I didn't even have to do anything! I tried a hard reset because I thought that I would get the standard Android Wizard (insert your gmail account to restore your data bla bla bla), but all I was offered was to create a Huawei ID/Huawei cloud, and nothing more! It is then when I discovered that there is no Google Apps by default...
Apart from that and from few Chinese-only applications like Yellow Pages, HiApp, and some few others, the device is rockingly solid! Even if it was a European version, an Android device in my opinion should be rooted! This is the first thing I do with any device I get my hands on and own. Root, then install SuperUser, then get rid of some bloatware or crapware, and install AdAway (an application that downloads a hosts file to your system to redirect all ads to 127.0.0.1, or simply, you wouldn't see any advertisements inside the applications).
Personally, I wouldn't want to flash the onverseas firmware on this device... at least not for now that I am still exploring, and testing the device. Maybe in the future, maybe never, it depends on my mood I guess and my curiosity to explore new things...
I don't want to be the person who gives you an advise that you would regret in the future. I am merely writing my own thoughts, and I encourage you to evaluate all the cons and pros, and decide by yourself. I believe I have made a choice and it is a very good choice. I am very happy with this device and I do not regret that I bought the Chinese version... This device will be my device at least for the next two years from now, until it becomes obsolete

what a nice post to read
i read every words in ur post in which u honestly provide by all ur experience from the starting in buying the phone till when u try to solve so issues
last 4 months i try two phone asus zenfone 2 dual sim (64gb) after 2month i sold it and buy and LG v10 64gb then i sold it too
the reason is that really i want an android device that has 128gb of internal storage
and i thinking in only 2 device
either this one Huawei mate 8- 128gb or huawei nexus 6p 128gb
i prefer mate 8 over nexus 6p due to
mate 8 support dual full active sim , support external storage if i want it ( 2nd sim slot) , huge battery , perfect design , nice screen size
but the only thing am afraid from it is the software ( i love huawei launcher ) specially the missing default google play and services
( it may too bother me cuz i format my device from time to time and need every time to re install at least 5-10 apps to get a standard android phone even when we are in 2016 !!! we need to manually solve this )
nexus 6p over this device to me only little bit the camera and in direct and perfect google support
So the question is no is there any hope from Huawei to release other version of 128gb ( rather than Chinese version) any one have any information of any promise from the company if NO ANY HOPE FOR THAT ( i may buy this version in these few days and try to get a benefit from this device and i think i will flash another room over Chinese room )
with my best regards

There is one thing to keep in mind. You CANNOT have dual SIM and have an external SD Card. Either dual SIM or one SIM and one SD Card. SD Card is obviously different than the internal storage.
Unfortunately, there is no NEXUS phone I am aware of that supports SD Cards. I guess this is a Google condition that imposes on vendors. I was also about to get the Huawei Nexux 6P, but for me NO SD CARD, NO PARTY! I actually got an offer from a very good friend I know, who was selling his NEXUS 5 for about 200 euros, and I didn't buy it because it was only 32 GB with no SD card support. So I had really very few choices (maybe 2) Mate 8 was one of them. An SD card is a must and 128 GB internal storage is a must, and if I am not mistaken, I found only tow devices.
If you don't mind rooting the phone, and manually install updates, then you can get a Chinese version, and apply the international version. There are people who already did it and are happy about it.

yes i know that and thats why i prefer only the 128gb of this device ( i will use 2nd sim card slot as micro sd card slot you can say on need )

i have another choice for you asus zenfone 2 ( 128 gb of internal storage )
which support
dual sim slot
separated micro sd card slot ( can use at without affecting the dual sim slot )
price only 400 us dollar
( but the quality and the camera and the screen is not so good that made me to buy this device again as i mentioned previously i bought 64gb of this device
other device called ( letv one max = 4gb ram 128gb rom ,6.33 inch 2560x1440,3400mah 21mp camera 4g lte )
the device is somewhat bizarre to me even with this strong specification it is a pure chinese device and high price about 930 us dollar )

I am currently looking for a new phone to replace my Note 2(SGH-i317m). My note 2 has been in service for 3 years, it is still pretty solid device with more than 60% battery left after 1 day of light use. It looks like the Mate 8 is going to be my next phone.
Hello my Friends,
i am want to buy an smartwatch. My maximum Price is 350€ (or round about 400 Dollars).
I dont now wich one i should buy. I want an large, round (!) OLED Display, good Hardware, Google Assistant and circa one day runtime. IP68 (or better) and ROM possibility would be very nice but it is not necessery. I want an Android Wear/Wear OS (2.0) Watch, no Tizen (i have a old V700 and i haved learned to hate Samsungs own Apps and OS, sorry about that, but i am a "Googleguy" ). Okay if you think Tizen is much better than Wear OS then let me now and why. We can talk about everythink. I have looked much on the internet, The Ticwatch Pro is my first choise, but eventually you have a better one? Let me know what you think is the best Smartwatch to buy in 2018. Greets from Germany and sorry for my bad Englisch.
I just got the Ticwatch Pro and am enjoying it so much. The only issue I could find is ROM support, since it doesn't look like a popular choice (yet).
I also just got the TicWatch Pro. Right now it's an Amazon PRIME exclusive and I believe sometime next month it's generally available to any Amazon user. It's only been available for a week or so, so hopefully we'll see some development for it in the coming weeks/months.
Hi,
At the moment I'm looking for a new tablet for me and my wife. I've made my pick (Tab S5e 128 GB), but my wife wants something lighter, as most she'll do on it is read or play HayDay.
She has her mind set on a Tab A, but there are several at the moment, 10.1, 10.5,...
Requirements for a wifi only tab A:
Lineage or other custom rom support
Snapdragon CPU
For the rest no requirements, but I thing a 64 Gb version is a tad more future proof. The Exynos CPU is a nice one, but hardly supported by custom rom builders. (I tried for the Tab S2, luckily @ripee and @tripLr took over)
Which one is which, is the 2019 version a better option then the older ones,... To many Tab A models. (at least the S series are numbered)

Why would she possibly need 64gb for what you described? The SM-510 with 32gb is way more than enough to do what she wants. I have mine rooted with a custom Lineage 16 ROM and a 17 one is "in the works", just waiting for a few bugs to be solved. Yes, there may be more custom ROMs for Snapdragon SoCs, but that is just because they've been around longer. I also have a 2016 SM-t580 with an Exynos SoC and I have 6 different Android 10 ROMs on it and I don't have them all.
IMO, unless you are watching 4k movies or are an avid "gamer", there should be no reason to need more than 32gb of internal storage when you can always add a 256gb SD card. And, personally, I'd never use a 10" tablet for either of those activities
Added Note: I don't consider people who enjoy a pleasant time with Hay Day to be "avid gamers". That app works quite well on my old 2016, 16gb Tab A.

Hi Lewmur,
Could you offer a quick comment on the recent SM-510 vs the 2016 SM-T 580? Love my 580, does most all of what I need well, but I'm thinking the RAM's too low at 2GB. Just started looking around and thought the 510 might be a better 'daily driver'. And, I think your advice to the OP was spot on.
Cheers! :highfive:

To be honest, I don't use either tablet to do anything that stretches their capability. The battery life on my 510 seems better, but then again, its is new and the 580 is three years old. The Antutu benchmark on the 510 is much better at 113745 as opposed to the 580 at 83259. Bottom line, if I had to pay retail for a 510 to upgrade from a 580, I wouldn't do it. I bought my two 510s for $80 and $50 including shipping. They were both in like new condition but with one catch. They are "Not for Sale" models with only 2gb and 16gb. The "Not for Sale" doesn't mean they are not legit. They both "registered" with Samsung without a problem. They just couldn't be sold "retail" and don't include a warranty.
edit: For an 80 yr old with shaky hands, the 510 does take a much better photo.
Hi everyone! I'm not new here on XDA, but i'm new into Windows 10 "mobile" handsets. I've seen a lot of review about several differen models but haven't find yet the perfect one for me. I used to do my everyday tasks with a Galaxy tab S2 (2015) then it broke in a non fixable way. I've decided to change and try with a Windows tablet to see how feels a pc like experience handled. Actually i don't have (and don't want to) a lot of money to invest in a similar product, but i can afford max a 250/300€ device. I know i can't expect a Surface performance for that price, but i just need it to view some streaming movies, surf the web and mainly use Office products to study. Anyway i'm here to ask if you can help me and suggest some of the best or what you think may be the best tablets out there. If may help you, i'll write down some of the key point i wish to have:
- A decent soc/good ram: Again, i know i can't expect much...not even thinking on top performance, but i'll be fine if i'll have a product that doesn't stuck while i'm using it. Otherwise would become too frustrating.
- 8-12 inchs: Preferibly 10, but anything above or below would be fine.
- No dual boot: May reduce storage since i don't mind to use anything than Windows. Really don't need a dual os.
- Brand: I'm open to everything. Really don't mind about the brand (even if it will be chinese) as it respects the above "expectations".
In conclusion, i don't need a "top" product and i'm aware that i can't pretend too much for the budget, but i just need a decent product to accomplish my everyday tasks, nothing more. I repeat, i'm a student so Microsoft Office will be the main use of this tablet, beside web and netflix or similar. I could use a laptop, i know...but i prefer to have something i can carry easily wherever i go. I'd really apprecciate any advice and/or personal experience. Thank you.
I guess that no one knows that...or simoly it doesn't exist. Well, this discussion can be closed then
tablets are alwayys laggy, even if theyre not at first. browse sites for few days or install some apps and it will start lagging. my fatherbought tablet and doesnt use it at all cuz its so laggy and broken
older used Surface Pro? I'm not even sure what other options there are, that is the only one I ever see.
I Like my Odys Wintab Ares 9.
It still lives after 3 years.. I used it a couple of times at work for a couple of months because the chefs thought Lenovo is good for a Technician too use... You just have too look angry at Lenovo and the Touchscreen cracks !
On my Odys I now need a new screenprotector, it is as if its build by HTC.. You can let it fall, bump against walls and use it in light rain..
And the price was 159€ ..
The only negativ is that it has a storage of only 32GB.. but I have a 128GB SDXC in it..
With a decent bluetooth keyboard and cheap bluetooth Microsoft mouse I prefer it over the too expensive Surface or Lenovo Tablets.. For the difference in Price I bought a Acer Aspire Laptop and took my girlfriend for a fancy diner..
I just got the HP Pro Tablet 608 G1, and it's really snappy. Just updated it to 20H2 and it's even better. Got it brand new on eBay with Miracast/usb/hdmi dock for $89.

Only 2 GB of RAM? That's not gonna get very far with W10...
1. Microsoft Surface Go 2
2. Fusion5 10-inch tablet.
3. Teclast X4
These are the three tablets which are available but I don't recommend you to buy any of them.

I have the enterprise edition with 4GB ram. Got it off eBay NIB for $80.
It has a bunch of enterprise-only features which make it extremely snappy -- like bios editing, rom kitchen, driver customization, and enterprise-only firmware from chip manufactures like Hynix... to name just a few.
So, it isn't low-end by any means. Even came with a USB/ethernet/hdmi/miracast docking station. Found the HP Enterprise Catalog price list from years ago, and it was originally $1,049.
I would recommend a Microsoft surfaces pro 7
