Mbn Files from Pixel 4 Request - Google Pixel 4 Questions & Answers

As title states, I am looking for the mbn files from the pixel 4. I downloaded the modem partition and could not seem to extract it and thought someone that owns a pixel 4 might have better luck than me. Thanks!
The directory might be
"/vendor/rfs/msm/mpss/readonly/vendor/mbn/mcfg_sw/" but I do not have a Pixel 4 and cannot confirm. Thanks!

Thanks a bunch that will work to! After changing some settings in the modem partition I have working video calling on AT&T with the Oneplus 7 (but oddly IMS never registered wifi calling only VOLTE and video calling), I have a theory since these devices share the same modem that I can get fully functioning VOLTE and WIFI calling on any carrier the pixel uses by doing some file swaps!

Did this work? We're you able to load any of the pixel profiles on your OnePlus 7? Did you use pdc tool?

It worked to an extent, I made a TWRP backup, loaded up the modem image file with OSF mount and replaced the original mbn then used TWRP to reflash the partition. I have full IMS registration with the exception of WIFI calling. When I load up on my international S7, I have the same until I register my E911 address. No such app exists on the OnePlus to register the E911 address. I strongly suspect that if we can port a app that allows you to register the E911 say from a Pixel or LG that is AT&T Branded that it will have the same effect as using a AT&T CSC on a S7 or S8 (Provided the IMEI provided to AT&T is from a Branded device). It might even be possible to monitor network traffic from the phone and see what website the S7 app takes you to when you register and do it in chrome)Even on T-Mobile you cannot use it on Wifi calling until the address is registered but T-Mobile allows you to register it on their website instead of from an app in the phone.

SMS fix for Verizon MVNO's

With the help of logs and testing from @evilryry I have created a flashable zip that will fix slow SMS send times and higher than normal fail rates.
The zip has changes to CarrierConfig.apk for MVNO's that use Verizon's network. It will do absolutely nothing if your carrier does not fit that category. If you are actually on Verizon this zip will cause all sorts of trouble, do not flash it.
All testing has been done on the Nexus 6 (Shamu) on Android Marshmallow. It is possible that it will work on other nexus devices running MM, if it does not I would be willing to help with those as well.
So far this is confirmed working with the following carriers, I will update the list as people post it working.
Bluegrass Cellular
Thumb Cellular
Instructions:
Flash the VZW MVNO-Sms Fix-Shamu-MM.zip in recovery.
Report back here with your carrier name and results.
If it doesn't make any improvements, you just prefer your SMS send time to be a little longer, or you are on Verizon and flashed it anyhow...
Flash the VZW MVNO-Sms Fix-Undo-Shamu-MM.zip in recovery.
Downloads:
VZW MVNO-Sms Fix-Shamu-MM.zip
VZW MVNO-Sms Fix-Undo-Shamu-MM.zip
I was the Guinea pig for this. Happy to report this works after months of trying to fix this myself. Thanks to @daheazle for his hard work. Seems to be the problem was users on Verizon LRA carriers were being detected and loaded as actual Verizon users, which loaded features such as VoLTE and ims which clashed as they are not supported by our networks. This should fix sms lag for my carrier bluegrass cellular, thumb cellular, Pioneer cellular, Appalachian wireless etc just to name a few. Again big thanks to daheazle, make sure to thank him for his hard work and willingness to help!

Will this work for the Nexus 6p? I'm on Bluegrass Cellular and having the SMS delayed problems (I had them when I owned my Nexus 6 too). Just want to make sure before I flash the ZIP and take a chance of screwing up my Android install.

I'm not sure this particular flash method will work on 6p, make a backup before flashing it. What rom are you on/are you rooted and on a custom recovery

Currently my phone is as stock as it was when it came out of the box. No root or unlocked bootloader. I will try to unlock the bootloader in the coming days and give this fix a try. I'll report back here if it works.
Thanks for the help and a fix.

Yeah sorry for the requirements, only way to fix is to at least have root access and a custom recovery. Fix hasn't been tested on 6p or on a odexed stock rom so please make a backup and let us know what happens when u try it. You *may* need a deodexed custom rom. Not sure

Like evilryry said it is unknown whether it will work on a 6p. Make a backup of your rom and give it a flash. I suspect that it will work just fine though. If it doesn't I'd be happy to make one for the 6p, would just need you to send me a file or two.

Works on Nexus 6P!
Wanted to update this thread with my results. I unlocked the bootloader on my phone and flashed the ZIP with a custom recovery to my odexed, stock Android 6.0.1 ROM. I'm happy to report that it fixes my SMS delayed issues on Bluegrass Cellular! So for anyone wondering, this ZIP will fix delayed SMS on the Nexus 6P as well as the 6.
Also on a side note, I managed to get MMS working natively on the 6P with Bluegrass Cellular if anyone is interested in the fix, PM me.

Apn type add mms in there and add X-MDN at the end of the apn? Like http://mms.iot1.com/bluegrass/mms.php?X-MDN=123456789 (numbers being your 9 digit number? That's what I did to fix mine. Glad to hear it works on the 6p tho.

I edited the automatically detected Verizon/VZWINTERNET apn and included http://mms.iot1.com/bluegrass/mms.php in the MMSC field, then added mms into the APN type. Basically what you did, although I didn't have to enter in the X-MDN part. It worked without that.
On a side note, does Google know about this problem with the CarrierConfig.apk not detecting Verizon LRA carriers correctly? I'm just thinking that this could easily be patched from their end, but I doubt they even know this bug exists.

How to root the T-Mobile Note 7 using the sprint leaked firmware.

Here's how you do it: Follow the EXACT SAME GUIDE FROM THE SPRINT NOTE 7 SECTION!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-note-7/how-to/root-super-leaky-bros-sprint-galaxy-t3447202
To get LTE to work again just add the T-Mobile APN (not that hard).
Also, you might want to freeze all the "Sprint OMADM" packages with titanium backup once you're rooted (will cause less of a hassle everytime you boot. I understand the devs in the "all things root" thread are holding this from you because they want to fix wifi calling but I think giving you root at all will tie you over for now. Also, I'm having problems downloading the gear VR apps with this so it's related to following this tutorial.
Thank you so much to the developers who made this possible for the Sprint note 7 and for everyone who brought this to the other variants (the T-Mobile note 7 was the easiest imo). It's a little funny to think that this whole time it was this easy and we could've been rooted all along. *If you really need the T-Mobile firmware rooted so you can enjoy wifi calling I've been working on something for a few hours but it's not ready.*
T-Mobile APN: https://bestmvno.com/apn-settings/t-mobile-apn-settings/
Edit: YouTube video added.
Here's the APN information for T-Mobile if you need it.
https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-17581
I thought it was going to be a quick video tutorial
If you're wondering why the model number ends with a "P" is because it's sprint firmware, silly. Your model number will appear as that. In the video you can see I am on T-Mobile. Yes, I do have a T-Mobile note 7. You can find some of my posts of me waiting for my note 7 in Charlie's waiting room thread.

It's literally the same thing as rooting the sprint note 7 except you need to add your APN and disable a few packages. Not that hard.

Uh, this is from freeza? It's his thread that you are following but for the sprint note 7. It turns out it flashes perfectly on the T-Mobile note 7 with no problems and you can add the T-Mobile APN to fix LTE (that's what worked for me).
He leaked the firmware, we're toying with his work (well I barely did anything as you didn't need to do much different for the T-Mobile variant). But yes, I can see why you'd wait for the official ONLY if it is based off of T-Mobile firmware.

WFC and VoLTE might be a bit of a ***** since sprint doesnt offer it and we are using the sprint image the frameworks might just simply not be there.

It's fine, it's root. Better than nothing. You can always use a Google voice number for the meantime if you really want to. We can always make a T-Mobile flashable ROM and flash it with FlashFire.

You need to make a folder called "sun7". Then extract all the contents of the zip you download into that folder. Wherever ADB is installed that folder needs to be in the same directory. Or if ADB is not in the same location provide the path.
Example: adb.exe push C:\pathtofilehere /directory/guide/tellsyouto/pushfoldercontentsto

it wont let me activate my tmobile network

[Guide]How To Tether With No Root?

Step 0. Download https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ospolice.packagedisablerpro
And once installed search for "tether" and disable "tetheringprovision"
Step 1.You don't need this but it's safer to have it.
Download Foxfi http://foxfi.com and the license and once have all of that turn on hide tether usage.
(Once you get your tether going this will activate to hide your tether from the network providers)
Step 2. You don't need Internet but you need something that will showup as a wifi network such as a PS4 , Direct TV receiver, chromecast, a printer and more. Once you have these plugged in and running go to step 3.
Step 3. Go to your wifi enabler on phone and turn on the toggle for it to scan for wifi.
Step 4.Locate one wifi signal and press connect if ask for a password do a random pass and press connect
(Like on the PS4 signal it will popup saying wrong password and that's fine)
Step 5.Now that you set that random password it will try to connect as soon as you turn wifi on again so turn off wifi now and follow next step.
Step 6.Go into your mobile hotspot app and setup the name and password if so desire.
Now when ready toggle wifi direct to on and then quickly go up and toggle wifi on and keep pressing toggle hotspot on. And if done right it will come on.
Step 7.Enjoy mobile data hotspot! !
Don't turn off the wifi or wifi sharing or else it turns off the hotspot too… which im trying to find a work around for it…
Id be grateful if others could help research too.
Edit
Ive tried everything that I could think of to make a fake wifi signal but it all needs root which we don't have so.. O well then I'm still happy it works even though it is tedious.
Edit 2
A new find(I tested this and didnt work for me)
jtracker said:
Hey guys, just got an s8+ today and found out that the native hotspot will work if you pop sim tray out, it will then take you to lock screen, pull down tray and turn on hotspot. You may get an error saying no sim installed but just keep pushing hotspot button until it turns on. It is working on mine now.

Edit 3
Okay here's another way to get it to work but you need two phones and the one you use for this must have internet.
Okay so now I finally figured out how this works so here what you do:
Download https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=kha.prog.mikrotik
1.To the phone you aren't using (turning this on the phone you're not using creates a wifi signal to the phone you want the hotspot app to work on)
2.Go on the phone now that you want to use the hotspot with and turn on wifi and search for the wifi signal that the phone used to create the signal.
3.type in a WRONG password and connect to it. (It will say wrong password which is fine now just click ok or cancel)
4.Turn off wifi and go to your hotspot app and turn on wifi sharing and quickly turn on wifi then start pressing the hotspot toggle until it connects.
5.Now you have the hotspot app on so you can turn the netshare off on the other phone and you should also be able to turn off wifi and wifi sharing and still have hotspot on!!

Another thing you can do is flash your phone with the Canadian firmware. I just did that and it removed all the att bloat and wifi tethering works with no modifications plus you have a bloat free rom. Lemme tell you, this is how the phone should have came, smooth buttery and no restrictions on basic functions.

Hello,
You have to use a modified version of Odin, it's called princecomsy version and that can be found with a quick Google search or a search on here. Download it and install it with admin rights.
You download the firmware which will be in a zip file. Creat a new folder and move zip to folder and extract the zip. Once extracted you will see 5 files. AP, BL, CP, CSC and CSC home. CSC file will wipe your phones data, if you use the HOME CSC you will retain your data but it's also considered a dirty flash, wiping everything and clean flash is always best.
Double click Odin to open it, you will see 4 slots with the same letters as the firmware you just extracted. Put each file in it's matching slot. The AP file takes a while to confirm once you put it in the slot so be patient.
Put your phone in download mode and then plug it into the computer with your USB cable. You will see device added and blue color rectangle with a port #, that means Odin is connected to your phone. Hit the start button and sit back, it takes a while to flash. Once it's done it will say pass and your phone will re boot to recovery then boot normally, first boot can take up to 5 mins (which seems like an eternity lol). Set your phone up and enjoy!

Thank you for the instruction, I will try to flash it tonight. But I have two more question:
First one is: which carrier's firmware I should use? I found the G955W firmware at https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/SM-G955W/, which one are you using?
Second question is: Is there any functional difference between this two firmware? will I able to go back to AT&T firmware if something goes wrong?
Again, thank you for your help:good::good::good:
You want the XAC firmware. You should download it from update.com as they're DL speeds are way faster than sammobile.
Yes you will be able to go back to ATT firmware. Only thing I've noticed is no video calling, volte and that's about it. You can get those things working but let's just get the firmware flashed for now :good:

Have you tried clearing the app data and reinstalling the latest version? Or you could also uninstall the app, reboot and reinstall latest version.
XAC and XAA are pretty similar if ya ask me, they both run smooth, fast and battery life is great!

Does the Canadian fw have mobile hotspot? The hotspot that lets you draw off your regular data plan instead of the Wi-Fi hotspot that requires you to have home Wi-Fi network?
This stopped working from me since the last ATT update. Can someone confirm if this is still working?

I flashed the TMO firmware on my AT&T S8+. Then I used BK Disabler Pro and disabled all bloat plus com.qualcom.qti.tetherservice and Tethering.Automation. i then downloaded Nova Launcher and made sure enhanced LTE services was enabled and HD Voice Settings were enabled. Running AT&T SIM with unlimited plan , tethering working just fine but I had to manually ADB the toggle into quick settings as well as the MobileData toggle. I can't find Wifi calling anywhere but I am sure I can use Google Dialer/Voice to place calls over data. I have DirectTV and was able to watch Live TV in full HD no issue. I am pretty sure that there is no tethering provision from AT&T so with the exception of V4A, I pretty much have everything I want without root. Battery charges to 100% and lasts way longer than it did on SAMPWND with root charging to 80%. Anyway, just my experience.
My firmware version is G955WVLU2AQK7 which I got from Sammobile.
I just turned off Mobile Data and placed a call with Google Hangouts Dialer and another with Facebook Messenger over Wifi and both worked beautifully.

How to activate the hotspot on LG G5 VS987 Verizon, without sim Verizon

Hello guys, I have found a way to make the hostpot work on our LG G5 verizon, of course without needing a verizon sim, I accidentally found it and I share it with you, here the steps are very simple:
1. The first thing to do is download the app ES Explorer (from the play store or the apk I will put the link at the end of the post).
2. Open it (skip the initial configuration, it is not important) and go to the option of sender.
3. Touch the RECIVE option, then our device will force to create a hostpot.
4. Now we can close the app and enter settings and configure our hostpot freely :fingers-crossed:.
I hope this form works for you to make it work.

No, I'm in nougat too, when you give the option to receive in ES explorer, it says: current network: G5_xxxx? (The X may vary depending on the device)
no it keeps telling me my sim card isnt verizon and ended up with nothing. I do the same method using ShareIt apps as I think it do the same way in creating hotspot for file sharing but still can't, and now I think I can't do files sharing via hotspot network at all which is the best way to transfer files. and also, could not tether a hotspot to my laptop...

But in the phones that I tested all have nougat installed, with the latest updates of April 2017.
Yeah, mine just pops up: "Tethering; Data network connection is not available. Mobile Hotspot/USB tethering service needs Verizon data network in order to work" when trying to do that. Non-root phone.
Excellent perfect job LG G5 VS987 nougat have Hotspot now

I am very happy to know this way to activate the hostpost you found it worked, I thought that no one else would work , after trying on 4 different devices and worked perfectly but apparently to those who try the method that leaves here you have not had luck. I hope it continues to be useful to other users.

What a good news then! I just followed the steps here after updated so I thought the tutorial made it worked, but if it's enabled by the default it's great!

my fiancee and i both have the same Cricket S9 and mine has the U1 firmware flashed on it, hers is stock. Hers has voLTE, mine does not. It has to be baked into the firmware. The cricket firmwares are tricky to get a hold of
Edit: is this the S8 AIO firmware youre looking for? https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s8/firmware/SM-G950U1/AIO/download/G950U1UEU5DSC1/265738/

Thank you. Some how I think I'm actually running U1 and it shows wifi calling and volte enabled and provisioned. I believe the volte. But I never setup the 911 stuff for wifi calling but the device is claiming its enabled.
AT&T and subsidiaries have always been hard to get proper firmwares for.
That's actually the bit 5 firmware you linked. Im on bit 6

From what I can recall, no special firmware is required, however you need either an actual cricket sim which will notify you of a carrier update and reboot and install the AIO CSC code, or combination firmware and set the CSC to AIO with it, i have more details if needed.
