notifications not coming in from certain apps - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

So i dont know when it started, But i am no longer getting notifications from a handful of apps that i know of. Outlook and Instagram are the main one that I use all the time that I know for a fact i am not getting.
I have been through all the notification settings and deep sleep settings and nothing is out of the ordinary.
So i am wondering if it is time to do a reset/wipe and start fresh. Which leads me to what is the way of doing that? I am running unlocked boot loader, Magisk rooted. TWRP recovery.

Same happenes to me but with whatsapp, I get a notification sound but the notification disappears after a few seconds, I think it started ever since I've updated to oxygenos 10.3.1.
At least I have a mi band that shows the notification at real time.

I know this is an old post and I see no one has replied. But I am having the same issue. Unlocked, rooted, using magisk modules and only one app OfferUp is not getting notifications.
Did you ever find out what was causing this problem?

Did you check the battery optimisation settings and is it on Don't optimise?
And are you using Greenify by any chance?

Yes I did the don't optimize. Not using greenify. I read on reddit and other places that this is an issue with OOS 10. I have read many have done everything from disabling deep idle sleep magisk module, turn off battery optimization, turn off adaptive battery and you name it..... Non resolve the problem.
Some say factory reset work and other not. What I have read it's a sure fix is going back to OOS 9.0.9 or installing a Custom ROM.

Nope. I'm on Lineage 16, and truly suffer from lack of notifications. I had double tap to wake active, and just turned off for testing

A dozen or so posts into the magisk module thread, that app is mentioned. I'm gonna give it a try.

Currently installing PiXeN OS and will see if notification problem gets fixed.

Installed PiXeN OS and notifications are working fine without any mods or special settings. Was able to learn how to get the OP Launcher in PiXeN OS. The latest patchable version QuickSwitch is able to patch is version OnePlus Launcher 4.4.8. Its stable and it has Google Feeds automatically. So far its stable and everything is working as it should....... Cant ask for more, Stable custom rom with stock OP camera, gallery and now OP launcher.
Edit;:
Got the latest OP Launcher v4.5.9 working on PiXeN OS.

Just got OfferUp notifications working and it seems I am getting more notifications now. I did a couple of things, but I think the one that fixed this whole notification issues was installing a custom kernel.
I installed ElementalX Kernel and after that I got notifications from the apps that I was not receiving it. I also disabled RAM Boost from system settings. I did noticed better performance with RAM Boost disabled. I believe ElementalX Kernel improved my OnePlus 6T overall. I am in Stock OOS 10.3.5 rooted with Magisk and TWRP permanently flashed.

Shield Tablet running Xposed on Lollipop

Hi all,
With Xposed just released for Lollipop I was hoping we could start a thread on experiences thus far. I'm reading conflicting user reports that it actually works on the Shield tablet and was hoping we could consolidate our findings her.
I'll be giving it a go later tonight.
Mods, if this if in the wrong forum please feel free to move.
Not sure if this is the right forum for a post like this but..
It works. I installed it on my tablet. Your module mileage may vary depending on the modules. Some things in gravity box work, some don't etc... You're gonna need to test stuffs. As always, make a backup before installing xposed!
So far so good. I'm getting the standard "Xposed is not installed error,"
but I read it is a GUI glitch due to the way the alpha build was created. I'm using ADM+, YouTube AdAway and BootManager and don't notice any major issues yet.
I've got it installed as well. Burnt Toast, CrappaLinks, and Play Store Changelog all seem to work. It's interesting that the Lollipop Xposed thread has a ton of posts about needing to put SELinux in permissive mode followed by a soft reboot in order to get Xposed to work. I did not need to do that. SELinux is set to enforcing but Xposed is working from what I can tell
I'm using Xgels and youtube adaway. Its running fine with no reboots or crashes.
I previously had tested out gravity box for notification toggles, but as I expected, its not working. I also previously had the phab7 module installed to play with the dpi, but it doesn't seem to stick through a reboot and I was only looking to get the fullscreen notif pulldown, but I can live without so i uninstalled.
I have SELinux in permissive due to Viper4Android.
Gilbot, what DPI are you looking to use? Is there a huge benefit in altering?
Works fine for me in both permissive and enforcing.
has anyone had any success with xprivacy 3.6.6? I'm running superpichu's kernel which is supposed to have SELinux set to permissive, and indeed selinux mode changer shows it as permissive without me doing anything. The problem is when i install xprivacy and activate/reboot, i get stuck in the boot screen.

I never really messed with this tablet's dpi, but I am not sure if I dig the notification pulldown width, I feel like I want more touch room and width for notifications to include more info. Its a minor thing though and I'm fine without it.
Fair enough. Let me know if you ever do some experimenting. I'm also interested about what's gained with adjusted DPI.
FYI. I tried Xposed for the 1st time and liked it. But while using gravity box (which I also really liked) my shield CONTROLLER was acting funny.
The mapping got all screwed up and the mapping app stopping working (error message) when you hold down start on controller and click the little cloud icon to download mappings.
Anyway had to del gravity box and just did away with Xposed for now.
And now controller works fine. Weird....
Anyone else having issues with the controller using Xposed moduels?

Hi,
I had installed xposed alpha and a few modules. I had issues with it not going to sleep, and now it wouldn't turn the screen back on so I had to hard-reboot it.
How do I go about uninstalling XPosed? I did a full TWRP backup before I did xposed, if that matters.

Ha, I loved my Incredible. But yeah do a full wipe then restore.
I had to uninstall xposed. Massive battery drain. Couldn't root cause the issue definitively, but once I uninstalled battery is back to normal.
I'll wait for a more stable framework in the future.
My experience on Xposed
Hello guys
I have installed xposed on my shield tablet, it's work but it's difficult ( i have many bug on boot )
if i reboot whien i install a new module. the shield crash on boot i have dark scrren. reboot it's ok
!!!! I recommend to those who want to make their experience of waiting for a stable version !!!!
I'm curious on trying xposed, but I'm a little worried as it's not stable yet.
Where do I get it from?

From here.
I had no problems so far. Only one module (awesome pop up video - twitch addon) is not working, it just F/C.
So, if you ask me, its perfectly fine. But it probably denpends on the moduls you want to install.
I have shield tablet LTE which installer do I use?
Arm, arm64, x86?
Thanks in advance I've been trying to figure this out before flashing.

Same problem..Whatsapp, spotify and i think other apps too even with every power manager setting turned off keep being killed by the power manager itself. A reboot fix the problem but it comes again few hours later. No solution for now. I tried every possible thing to fix it. The last thing i did was disable these apps packages from the doze list via ADB. Still not sure if it works.
I too am having the same issue. It comes and goes, but is overall unreliable. I have turned off all power saving features for Whatsapp but sometimes it still happens.
Thread on the ZTE site.
Did any of you restore whatsapp from titanium backup? If so, that's your issue
I am also having this issue. Disabled all the power saving settings. I have to un-install and re-install Whatsapp every few days to resolve this issue.
same problem..
no fix yet.. restart sometimes work sometimes it does not.
Perhaps convert the app to a system app when rooted f.e. with link2sd. Set power savings if possible again to a minimum, reboot and test. Might help.
Anyone ever resolve this issue?, I need to stay on marshmallow
This is not a stock rom issue. It happened on literally every rom that I used. To fix it you have to reinstall the whole system.
It happened on certain installs of ROMs on my old Moto G2. AICP, CM13, CM14.1, AOKP, you name it. As you may guess none of them had some failed power management system.

Having this problem on B25 (B32 just came out so I'll try that soon), but I did restore from Titanium. Never a problem on the LOS based ROMs. I'll try backing up chats, then uninstall, reinstall through google play, restore.. see if that works.

Thinking it's time to upgrade to Nougat but...

So, with the realization that Xposed, etc. are likely dying a slow death I'm coming to the realization more and more that it's time to just get used to using a phone without that stuff and go ahead an upgrade to Nougat. I've been holding off because of the lack of xposed.
My question is...is there anything out there (on the Play Store or downloadable APKs) that will do the same things as these modules and is a legit app and not some junk?
1) Greenify (I know this will work without xposed but some features won't work - is there anything better?)
2) XInsta (download Instagram photos and videos)
3) SnapPrefs (I primarily only use this for typing more text in Snapchat and sharing 20 second videos which are longer than stock, I don't need the other features)
Anyone know of anything that I can download to replace those?
Also, as far as rooting 7.1.1 it's just a matter of applying the latest SuperSU I already am using (I updated my N6P regularly) after flashing the 7.1.1 stock images?
Any pointers will be appreciated.

Hi... I can't answer all your questions, only 2...
About greenify. I used to have it on my N6 running marshmallow. When I upgraded to the N6P, I thought I'd try without, just to see how battery performs. With stock 7.1.1 or PureNexus, the battery drain is negligible. Also, you can install a custom kernels and use custom profiles which tends to help with battery consumption (this is more for screen on usage though).
If you still want to save more juice... There's Franco's naptimes app that forces doze as soon as the screen goes off. I don't use it, so you may try to find more infos by yourself.
I don't use Xinsta, nor SnapPrefs, so i'll pass on this.
For root, flash your stock firmware, flash TWRP with fastboot, reboot to TWRP, then flash SU of your choice. Latest SuperSU is SuperSU 2.79 SR3. Don't reboot to system before the SU install or TWRP will be overwritten by stock recovery and you'll have to reflash it, etc... Starting with 7.x firmware it has to be done this way...
Good luck...

Yeah, I used Elemental right now on my N6P with 6.0.1. So I'm already tweaking that, and I did read about Naptimes just like 5 minutes ago as I was doing further research. Can also run Greenify in basic mode to get some of those benefits back as it doesn't require Xposed for all features.
Really curious about the other two, if anyone knows of any other apps.
Thanks again!

Hey... I don't see any issue as far as I remember that could prevent from using greenify. I don't know how much apps you have installed that could stay running in the background. Doze has been pretty well improved on 7.x compared to marshmallow. Give it a try, you can still install it afterward.
Good luck...
OGinstagram+ can download pictures and videos, it's here on XDA. It's not updated regularly (doesn't get bumped up for each little play store update to Instagram) but it works just fine. No idea about anything for Snapchat or greenify.
On newer versions of Snapchat you can type unlimited captions without Snapprefs. Videos are still stuck at 10 seconds, though.

Try clearing your Dalvik and cache (not data) in TWRP and reboot. How long have you been experiencing the battery drain? Might be that your device is still settling down after swapping kernels and applying root.
By the way, did magisk hide or using magisk hide with magisk core mode not work the 1st time round to let you into Snapchat?

Can you show us screenshots of your battery usage screen from Settings (including the list of apps), or perhaps download Better Battery Stats from the Play Store (or flash the apk from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809) and show us the data from the app after a couple of hours? It'd be useful in ascertaining what may be causing the drain. Also, what magisk mods have you got installed?

"Battery level full" - Any solutions to disabling this notification?

I am running rooted Swift and Fast B170 ROM on one XT and stock B180 on another and have yet to find a way to disable this seemingly system based notification. On my rooted device I tried to install Xposed but ran into a boot loop issue after installing the framework so I am inclined to think that isn't a possible route to a solution. The OS notification center is pretty useless in managing app notifications and the battery notification doesn't seem to be tied to a specific app anyway.
Does anyone have any ideas how to disable the notification?
So I ended up disabling the System UI notifications all together. And that works but I'm pretty sure its going to disable other important notifications controlled by System UI. If anyone has any true solutions let me know.
Xposed can be installed on the Ascend XT. Search for my Xposed thread. I'm using Magisk Systemless Xposed v87.1.
Why not just swipe away the battery full notification. Yes, you've probably killed other things too by disabling SystemUI.

yes it can pop up at the most inopportune time and its honestly a useless notification in the bar that is distracting. notifications shouldnt be in the bar that i should ignore.
@mattzeller and like i said before i tried installing Xposed before i believe the regular installer and that went fine but when i installed the framework and rebooted it kept boot looping at the android logo and i had to reflash the Swift and Fast ROM.
I plan on exploring the Xposed install that divineBliss mentioned I just need to backup my current ROM first and then double check all of the steps required. I hope it works. cause it really is a distracting notification.

Using systemless Xposed is a fairly straightforward process. This is the way I got it working on mine since Magisk wouldn't flash because of the modified boot.img and would only modify stock, you don't have to flash the ROM like I did, but I was doing cleanup and reflash anyway.
1. Download all required files and put them on your external SD card.
a. Swift&Fast: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=72258982
b. Magisk: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=68966662
2. Make sure you have the correct boot.img for the firmware version you are using, can't use B160 boot.img on B170 ROM, it causes wifi problems. I extracted boot.img from @madvane20 's Swift&Fast ROM since that's what I am running.
3. Do all necessary wipes and flash ROM, do NOT reboot yet.
4. Flash extracted boot.img (select img in TWRP to show *.img files) do NOT reboot yet.
5. Flash Magisk (I'm using current/stable)
6. Wipe caches and reboot.
7. Boot your phone, open Magisk Manager and go to Downloads and install Xposed Framework (SDK 23). I got an error here trying to download and install. I fixed it by adding the folder Magiskmanager to internal sdcard.
8. Download and install latest Xposed installer for systemless Xposed. The link for that is in the Magisk module information for Xposed.
9. Reboot (got a kitK Kat? It's gonna be a while) and everything should be working.
Occasionally after a reboot you can't open settings(Xposed issue), just reboot again, should clear that up.

Although I'm sure there's a way via xposed to disable the notification, I haven't found it yet. The xEMUI module has some nice tweaks, but nothing related to that.
Perhaps via appOpsXposed, or via stopReceiverBroadcasts... remove the ability for SystemUI to see the charging related events..?

It gets rid of the notification in the notification area and blocks the pop-up that occurs when it's full. Just not the "you just plugged your phone in" pop-up
