I have the opportunity to buy a 7T Pro McLaren International version. I'm in the US on Verizon. I'm already CDMAless. Has anyone successfully got their International 7T pro McLaren to work on VZW? I miss my 7Pro but would like the McLaren 7T.
I saw there was a similar thread but it was talking about the T-Mobile version. I don't care about 5G since the nearest big city is not on the 2020 vzw roadmap. I also know T-Mobile and VZW are using different 5G spectrums.
Anyone get it working?
For those trying the above. forget it at this time. I can get data and call working on VZW but no SMS. I called VZW multiple times and the last Tech I spoke with tried and spoke to many different people. I was on the phone over 90 minutes. What she was she was told that VZW was looking at adding the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren edition but there was nothing they could do at this time. If you're not willing to use T-Mobile or AT&T, I'd hold off until VZW decides to support it on their network. I got a T-Mobile line for now . the odd thing is they list a 7T pro on their web site as being compatible. I guess the McLaren is a different beast. I did decide NOT to buy the INTL version due to no returns/warranty in the US. I purchased mine from T-Mobile. It was cheaper than buying the INTL and 24 no interest payments was better for my situation.
Strangely, I have had no issues with my 7T Pro McLaren on VZW (CDMAless already from 6T McLaren) - with SMS or otherwise.
12gb 256 gb you guys have that mclaren? and if so what model? visible or yahoo mobile both say 1925 one from tmobile wont work but if you guys did get it to work with everything working let me know
There are global McLaren's as well. I have model number HD1910 that's the Chinese 4g McLaren. I'm on Verizon with CDMA less already on my line. There is also HD1913 that is the EU McLaren. Will work the same way.

You have to use another phones IMEI so that they can add the CDMA less. Then just pop your sim in.
hmm i have a nexus 6 1103 sitting around but i forget does it have cdma? dont they notice you put sim in a phone thats not allowed and kick it off?

anyone on with yahoo wireless or visible? those are both on verizons network so want to make sure...also did you know i was speaking to 1plus tech and what he said was tmobile hd1925 and international are same phone they just put a 1 sim tray in tmobile version but he said it has all the bands

curious question someone said you can flash the international firmware on the tmobile edition? does that change what the imei says? what i mean is by imei number visible and yahoo both know its the tmobile version wont work and on chat they were saying the tmobile version isnt allowed but the other versions not tmobile are allowed
For me it's working
I moved to Verizon today, my plan is bring my wife's pixel 4 and buy new device. Well Mag asked me if she can try it on my phone, few minutes after she add a other EMEI and all set. It's working for calls text and internet HD1925

Hey if you got the 7t pro 5g mclaren from tmobile (HD1925), that is not that INTL 7t pro and it is different as it uses 5g modem which does make it different from the regular international 7t pro.. thats probably why you couldnt get it to work on verizon.. also make sure its not network locked since youre on a monthly payment plan from tmobile
I can def say that my HD1925 did have SMS probs when I had it on VZW. BIGTIME problems. No matter which SMS app I used. I switched back to TMO with it and the problems sort of went away. Once in a while I will get "tap here to download msg" in SMS app

I am opening this thread with the intention of enabling a discussion among the North American users (current/prospective).
It appears that Note 3 Pro (Snapdragon variant) is the logical choice for north american user, as it includes few of the 4G bands.
So, how is the network experience with the major cell phone carriers? Which firmware/rom includes those bands? AOSP/Global/China? Does VOLTE work?
I have been using the RN3P for the last couple weeks. I am in the Florida area in T-Mobile network, and really happy to see that I get 4G LTE most of the time. It's the band 4 according to the LTE Discovery app.
I have tried a bunch of different roms, including global stable, aosp and developer beta. I have observed that the network is much better with the developer MM roms. I am currently using the Epic ROM based on the developer rom, and I think I shall use it as my daily driver.

Connected to LTE with Rogers and Koodo (Telus Band 4 AWS). I ordered the china model which shouldn't have included Band 4 (if you believe the information on all the china sellers sites), and confirmed it's not Kate model as it is only 150mm tall.

That's good to know. There are so many variants of this device, it's really confusing. I ordered mine from Gearbest last week, who knows when it will show up. The problem with these Chinese retailers is that sometime they themselves don't know what they have. I guess I have to see what I get. I just hope that mine also supports band 4, which T-mobile in USA also uses.
Are you still using China firmware? Does the china model come with Google Playstore?
http://willmyphonework.net/
most networks will work on the note 3 Snapdragon version (kenzo).
the Kate or aka Note 3 Special Edition model supports a additional 'band 20' which afaik is not used in the USA (someone confirm?)
the Mediatek note 3 Hennessy most likely doesn't have good usa network support
so make sure you get the kenzo or kate model, though I would stick with kenzo since the kate doesn't have as good of support or accessories

Mine came with Global 8.0.1.0 installed, prerooted, and unofficial bootloader unlock. I flashed official 8.0.1.0 global from tgz file, which then relocked the bootloader. I have done the official unlock with the same 8.0.1.0 official stable with no problems.
It came with Google Playstore, and some gapps (not all).
Anyone tried AOSP roms in north america? Does it also get the lte coverage?
I have heard privacy concerns from many people MIUI roms. May be rumors, may be not. But I don't wanna take the risk.
Can anyone compare the performance between MIUI and AOSP roms?

I have on hand experience with Umi Super. Which carrier you are on? With T-mobile Umi Super had really poor data connection. Barely got 3g, I couldn't even stream a YouTube video. I don't think it has any north american band. It's a decent phone for the price, but do your research first.
In Florida with T-Mobile network, using band 4.
I recommend changing the default apn settings to fast.t-mobile.com one, which better result for me.

I'm interested to trying out Xiaomi , but seem like they don't have T-Mobile band 12 why? Huawei, ZTE, even the new company LeEco have band 12 and Xiaomi doesn't?
The Mi Note 2 Global Edition does have Band 12.
There are a total of three variants: 4GB RAM, 6GB RAM and another 6GB RAM variant which is specifically labelled as the Global 4G+ variant. This particular variant has the following bands:

mi mix is available for pre order 637 usd @ geekbuying and 625usd @ibuygou. however they are not global edition not sure if xiaomi has any plan to release global edition of mi mix. current phone edition will not work properly on US LTE network it will only work on slower data network (2g/3g)
XIAOMI Mix would be quite a experimental phone, IMO, better sit and watch how it works first.
Only Mi Note 2 have bands that might work in the US...Mi Mix don't have it....luckily i not from/living in US and i can use the MI Mix without having to worries about bands
Does anybody know what bands supports usual version (not global)? Does it support LTE band 3 for example?)

According to IBuyGou:
Frequency:
FDD-LTE:B1/B3/B5/B7/B8
TDD-LTE:B38/B39/B40/B41
WCDMA:B1/B2/B5/B8
TD-SCDMA:B34/B39
GSM:B2/B3/B5/B8
Also a small note on the Global edition of the Mi Note 2: While it does support Band 12 for T-Mobile, you might not get VoLTE support on that network. Possibly something that one brave buyer may have to experiment and find out.

Hoping this is the first step in the direction of releasing US based devices. I like the price point and specs.
Both the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 and the MIX use a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip though, no? Unless I'm mistaken, the frequencies are locked out only on a software level, not a hardware level - I'm sure I've seen a few threads where people have manually added additional frequency bands to their devices to work in different regions of the world (at the risk of bricking their phone, but that's standard disclaimer stuff).
Wouldn't it be possible to purchase a Xiaomi Note 2 or MIX, and then just 'unlock' the bands that they say are not supported?
I'm in for one as soon as available, not happy after giving up Note 7...that was most awesome device. This looks a lot like Note 7...so I'll bite for 600ish

For those who are wondering about this phone in the US. I have this phone (Global Edition) and have had it for about three months now. I used it on AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon it worked no problem! I had AT&T originally, and it worked fine and even got band 30 in some areas. In my area AT&T speeds were horrible, so I switched to T-Mobile very briefly they had terrible coverage in my area. So I switched to Verizon. I use this phone all the time and get excellent speeds with it. I hope that helps.
Hi,
I'm trying to confirm if and how well this unlocked model of the LG V20 will work on AT&T. I'm based in Austin TX. Some websites like frequency check say it's missing band 17, which is a problem for AT&T, but the Taiwan LG official listing shows it as having it and I've seen a couple of comments in forums of people saying it does and they use it on AT&T. There's also people saying not to get it for AT&T, so it's kind of confusing. Does anyone out there use this model on AT&T and can confirm that it will be issue free?
Thanks,
Steven

Hi guys, I am sorry for reviving the old thread.
I too owned H990DS Sea version on latest nougat. It has volte option but just couldn't switch on without proper carrier configuration file.
Please take a look at this thread on LG G8
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ther-qualcomm-powered-lg-devices-too.4343655/
I tried on my H990DS using the above thread's method and it didn't work. I was informed that the mbn files are for LG G8. We need mbn files that are specific for LG V20. I have searched up and down and I couldn't find any.
So I hope that I have provided some insights and I hope any member/master/guru out there can help where to find the mbn file (collection of all international carriers mbn) and make volte works for H990DS.
Greetings everyone,
I am proud to be a member of this amazing community. I am a big fan of OnePlus and started using it since OnePlus 2. Till this date, every mobile phone I owned was from OnePlus. Just fee days ago, I decided to buy OnePlus 8 Pro as an upgrade from my OnePlus 7 Pro.I was searching and reading about to see what is the best choice for me regarding the version and support for my country (Saudi Arabia). Then I read that the Chinese version is the most suitable one since it supports our 5G network n41 and n78. I ordered the phone and received it almost a week ago and transfered all my data through OnePlus switch which is an amazing app that makes it easy to do so. I was excited to try the new speed of 5G provided by my carrier Zain 5G (n41). When I started using my new OnePlus 8 Pro, I got the option of preferred network from 2g till 5g (see the attached picture). Yet, I got no 5G signal. Bare in mind I am one 100% sure that my sim is 5G. I searched the web hoping to find a solution, but no luck. I thought it might be something that OnePlus team would add to their next update. I wonder if anyone have an idea on how to fix this to make my phone work with 5G or modify it accordingly?. Your help is much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, I've also got the Chinese version and based in the UK and managed to pick up 5g automatically via Three network. It was not expected as 5g isn't particularly advanced except maybe in the big cities. Possibly not full 5g but still pretty fast where I am.
If you see your picture again, you're connected to a WiFi. As you said, I should automatically connect to the 5G since I am living in the capital of Saudi Arabia (Riyadh). And I checked the coverage in my area through the provider Zain SA, it is really good in my house according to their website, but I do not know what should I do or change to make it work. Hopefully someone have a solution. Thank you.

The picture is a screenshot from Speedtest history and my WiFi is no way near that speed ?
I've got 5G with three and I live in central London and it's awful.
Phone is unlocked dual SIM, nowhere I've been has shown better results than 4G.
I could get 275Mb on 4G with EE.
Best I've had with 5G is probably about 50Mb.
Personally I don't use it, nor do I need it
You have a point my friend. It might be right, but my brother has Huawei P40 Pro 5G and it works like a charm with 5G network. We use the same service provider sim cards. One day he showed me the speed which has reached around 280MB in the same location we live in. And yet I got this OnePlus 8 Pro with no 5G signal. Waiting for a solution from the expert in this lovely and helpful members of this forum. Thank you for your info my friend.

Seems Verizon is trying to monopolize where you buy phones, chances are most people don't know about this limitation before they buy it.
Where did you buy your phone from?

Has anyone else had this issue???
Last night Verizon pushed the System Update 3 enabling 5G. By wonderful design, they didn't include MY phone. Does anyone know where this file could be hosted or something...? I can't find ****...

You can plug into a pc through usb, in pulldown menu change usb options from charge only to system update, this will open a folder containing verizons upgrade assistant. Here you can find the ota

Amazon a couple months ago. Worked just until 11/13. Easy few months of service with minimal issues
so i was researching if i want to get this phone and i found something that might help you. take a look at this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/verizon/comments/je9hai/nationwide_5g_on_oneplus_8_pro/ and the instructions here: https://mt-tech.fi/en/modify-oneplus-7-pro-5g-8-and-8-pro-nr-lte-a-band-combos/
I just got a 8 Pro and last night got a system update that seems to have enabled 5g. under connections my automatic network selector now shows an option with 5G added and im getting LTE+ that shows when I'm using data. now my speed test shows I'm getting almost triple my download speeds now at 148Mbs or so down . I honestly wasn't expecting any type of 5g access with how Verizon can be with non-branded devices.
Maybe you need to get the update to have it work like i did but just thought i would share since it just happened
This likely won't help you if you bought Verizon's 8 pro (rather than from OP or Amazon, unlocked). Sorry, but I'll just include the following:
I had been with Verizon for years, and then switched from Samsung to OP 8P. Love the OP. But Verizon poorly supports this device if it's BYOD. I couldn't get VOWifi or VOLTE, among other things.
After searching on XDA, I found the OP 7 Pro logkit.apk and used that for a bit, and it *did* give me VOLTE and VOWifi (you have to use some USSD codes to get to some behind-the-scenes settings, if I recall one code was *#*#INFO#*#* (crap, it may have been #*#*INFO*#*#), that opens up a really cool set of setting windows related to your cell signal, wifi settings, etc.
Ultimate super-awesome fix? I ditched Verizon and wen't with T-Mobile. (after 20 years with ATT or VZW).
Wow!! Instant wide-coverage 5G that actually works, instant support for VOWifi and VOLTE, and visual voicemail that works too. I love it.
So, I'm sorry OP (Original Poster)(not OnePlus), I realize this may not help you directly, but I really do feel your frustration, and just wanted to share my experience. Maybe someone may be helped a bit. And, no, I don't work for any telecom co. My job requires good phone signal etc and it has to be reliable, thus my taking a chance on T-Mobile.
Best wishes.
Oh hey original poster, the link you put is the one I looked at before switching carriers, because it said T-Mobile was the best for OP8P, and I agree completely. Good tech support too.

OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro on T-Mobile 5G
As you may have expected, T-Mobile is the best-supported carrier for the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. The unlocked models of both phones support T-Mobile's Sub-6 5G network, meaning you'll get the same network access as many of the phones it sells directly. T-Mobile's Sub-6 5G is the portion of the network that operates on lower frequencies, and has the widest coverage — you'll find its Sub-6 5G layering most of the same footprint as its LTE network.
The phones also support Sprint's mid-band Sub-6 network, which was the core reason T-Mobile purchased Sprint in the first place. So as T-Mobile starts to integrate Sprint's spectrum into its new larger network, the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are ready for it.
5G on T-Mobile: Everything you need to know
Curiously, though, neither phone supports T-Mobile's mmWave 5G network, which is admittedly small right now but is a main pillar of its overall 5G rollout nationwide — particularly in dense cities. This is even the case for the OnePlus 8 that T-Mobile will be selling directly, which is a head-scratcher.
For most people, Sub-6 5G is more important, especially in the next year, because T-Mobile's mmWave network is very small and only available in parts of a handful of cities. But it will become more and more important, so if you plan on keeping your OnePlus 8 for a couple of years, keep in mind that you won't have access to T-Mobile's whole 5G network as it grows.
====================
I just bought the OP 8 Pro from one plus and the only thing not working VOwifi but VOLTE is working fine and so is visual VM and now so is 5G for me yay . I do know when you BYOD you need to chat with support and provision your line for CDMA-Less if that's not added to your line things will not work there is a way to get VoWifi working but i never used it on my other phones so not really a big issue for me. i can see it being an issue for people with bad signal at home. i have had good luck using phones on VZW as long as they were certified as allowed on their network
Kind of related, I have a OnePlus 8 IN2013 on Verizon (if you are wondering why the EU model its because it was the only model I could find in Onyx Black) LTE and everything works fine on it but I wonder if I can get low band 5g enabled using the method posted further up. I already know I cant get mmwave 5g and honestly dont care but I cant for the life of me find what bands Verizon is using for their low band 5g
