Hi all,
Bit of an issue with my phone: photos.app.goo.gl/D1ybZrWc7B9WyaALA
In a nutshell:
- Phone's stock as a rock (no rom, no root, etc.)
- Phone was charging okay
- Tried a number of different usb c cords, power bricks, etc.
- Vol up/down + power doesn't work.
Thoughts? Thoughts on next steps?

An update - after a few mi logo/empty battery logo cycles (see vid), the phone died altogether. I did notice; however, that when plugged in, the red light (as part of the popup camera) is flashing slowly. Does this signify something?
Try different cable, charger. If not, then it is probably hardware problem with motherboard or battery - battery could be drained too much. It's on warranty, so dont wait, just let em fix it for you
yeah, tried different chargers, cables, etc. No dice.
I would go warranty through supplier; however, its 'tobydealsau', and they charge ~80AUD for a warranty inspection (i.e. no promises), and it takes 4-6 weeks.
I read some stuff about EDL mode - could this fix it?
What? Deliver it to one of service centers near your location:

My i9000 has been working fine and I have flashed it countless times but now I can't switch it on using the on button when I don't have it plugged in to a power source!
The behaviour, when no USB is connected is a loop: The moment I put the battery in, it starts up with the "Just about to start charging" egg timer (more a circle/flower icon) - then an empty battery appears for 2 seconds. Then disappears again and the whole process starts again 5 seconds later. The only thing I can do to interrupt this loop without a USB cable is to enter download mode using the 3 button combo - recovery mode combo doesn't work.
I can interrupt it by plugging in a USB cable which seems to act normal (charging) then the phone acts like normal...
Anyone got any ideas?
Since the phone is off I really can't imagine this is a software problem (unless someone knows differently).
I would swap the battery, see if it has gone bad. If not, then it must be a hardware problem either with the battery pickups, the USB connector, the power button or the charging circuitry. Lots of possibilities, but all with the same solution...return for hardware repair
You can try to clean the battery pickups and USB connection with a little acetone on a q-tip, see if that helps, but this sounds like it will have to go back to a service center.
I advise u to change the phone in guarantee as fast as possible, I managed to kill just like this an SGS, a small diode makes the problem and ordinary services don't have this, Network broadcasters (Orange , Voda) changes the whole m.b.
Firsty u can flash a stock 2.1 from samfirmwares.com - (to try repairing and to avoid losing guarantee) )
Thanks guys - will return it to the shop I bought it from when I return to the UK soon.
Hi all, i have a ZTE blade which i have rooted and flashed CM 7.0 successfully without upgrading the radio to GEN2. I've done this and much more without problems, however today for some reason the phone isnt even powering on. The only thing i did before was installing theft aware 2.0. Note that i dont have a SIM card inserted so it's unlikely that someone have sent a command that turned the phone into a... vegetable.
I tried removing the battery and trying to turn it on, nothing. I tried connecting it to the USB power charger without a battery, still nothing. This phone is supposed to be a birthday gift for my friends 30th birthday, so i'd really appriciate help getting it back to life.
Thanks in advance
EDIT: I've tried the following: with ADB devices the phone dosen't show up.
Trying entering field test mode with VOLUME DOWN + POWER key does not do anything. same result with VOLUME UP + POWER.
Tried different USB cords without success.
Have you tried holding volume up & down together along with the power button. Make sure you have the usb cable connected from the phone to a pc. So long as you have the zte drivers, it should show up in DFU mode in device manager (from what I remember).
I think from there you can flash recovery using fastboot again.
I tried that, nothing happens. Thing is, the phone dosen't give any kind of life signal at all, not even the button backlights turns on during charging. Could it be that it suffers from a hardware defect? Or is there more things i can try?
Yeah sounds like you may have a hardware issue; especially if none of the LEDs flicker on when trying the above.
hmm, ....out of ideas for now fella.
Any news on this?
I am having the exact issue, phone is like a real brick:
- Won't do anything when trying to press power and/or any other buttons one by one or at the same time
- Won't do anything with or without battery
- Won't do anything when pluging it to the USB/Charger, not even a led response
- I've tried with and without sim, with and without sd card, trie everything and still nothing, seems complketely without any kind of life inside. The only thing it does is get heat when you put it to charge with battery
I had it with cyanogen 7, max overclock to 710mhz, min arround 200, and it happened (turned off) 5 minutes after I installed Launcher Pro...
Any ideas?

I actually gave up and sent it in for service which returned me a brand new one. I suspect that ZTE dosen't have much of quality controls since a friend also suffered a case of "true-death" on her unmodified ZTE blade...
Similar issue here. If I press the power button (with or without any combination of other buttons) it just vibrates - no lights, display or sound. Doesn't power on so no fastboot/adb etc. Same behaviour with battery, charger, or both. If I hold the power button the vibration sort of pulses, a vibration every 0.75 seconds or so. I recently opened it up to get dust out from behind the screen, so no warranty :-(
Will ask at the shop what the options are for maybe paying for a repair..

Your issue is different than the one i had, you phone is at least being powered on since its vibrating.
Most likely you broke when you opened it or you simply didn't reassemble it correctly - if i were you i'd do it again and check that all the connectors are connected.
If its a software issue, you can always try TPT - total phone transfer. google it, i read it but didnt try it myself so i cant vouch for how it works.
Well my D802 past away (I think) two days ago; Isn't booting into any mode whatsoever and it doesn't seem to be charging (no red led, no heat) it was on 6% battery when I last seen it working and after that I've had nothing from it; and any pointers in what to look for or any knowledge what's possibly gone wrong would be greatly appreciated
Update: Well pulled both ribbons from each side of the battery and left it for a while' plonked them back and and left it for a couple of minutes; and attempted to turn it on and the LG Logo did show for like 2 seconds and then gone back to this original state mentioned above; don't even know what this means
Battery dead? Usb port broken so it doesn't charge?

I'm unsure; I don't believe that they are broken; my phone was on or around at least 6% when it failed on me; but like I mentioned battery doesn't warm up when I've had it plugged in while but when it does go flat on battery the first couple of times it would have attempted to boot back up when I hold the power button it hasn't at all recently so I'm totally stumped
Exactly. It might have emptied to the point it doesn't have enough charge to boot up.
No heat = battery not charging.
Battery not charging = dead battery, dead port, dead charger..
Firsr try using different charger / cable. If that doesn't work, that leaves you with bad port or battery bad.
For testing port, try getting into download mode. Plug the cable to just your phone, press and hold volume up button, and then (while holding volume up) plug the cable to your computer. If you get even a hint of download mode (since your battery is probably empty, it won't stay in download mode and it will shut down), that means the port and the cable is good but battery empty.
There are other parts to it, but if none of this show any result, you should take it to the service.
This is something I would do to test it, I might be missing something. Maybe someone else can give another idea.
Recently purchased a G4; still would like a few others to weigh in on this :') wouldn't mind selling it on to fund this G4; thanks
Symptoms:
Phone wont charge (nor will it show charging - no lightning bolt)
Phone wont connect to computer USB.
If I connect the USB (to either a computer or a charger) the phone just pulses the vibration every 2 sec or so... and does not show the battery progress... just black screen.
As long as the phone has a fresh battery, it functions normally otherwise.
What its NOT:
The cable - tried many cables.
The charger - tried different samsung chargers...
The comptuer - tried more than one
The usb connector in the phone - nope.. not that either. When in ODIN mode, the phone stays on when I remove the battery... thus.. the USB connector is passing power.
The power button - The phone starts normally via the power button. It shuts down properly with the power button. The power button performs wakeup, etc all normally.
The battery - I have two Note 4's. I swap the battery, and the problem remains on the one phone.
Steps I have done:
I wiped the cache partition first... no change.
I did a full factory reset... no change.
I need some answers. I have run out of ideas. I'm not taking this to sprint. It will take an hour to explain to them what I've already done, and they will want to do expensive things that I bet will not fix it.

It seems that the micro USB connector on the phone is broken.
Note 4 is using 11 pin microUSB not the ordinary 5 pin.
You can still have power but very minimum wattage if 1 or several pins are broken, that's why in ODIN mode it still ON without battery as ODIN mode requires minimum power.
Try changing the micro USB connector on the phone (not the cable)
Sold my Moto X Play to my uncle, 2 months in it now refuses to charge...phone is 16 months old.
I tried the following:
-Blast air in USB charging connection
-Volume down + Power button for 1 minute
-Volume down + Power button for 3 minutes
-Tried high amp charger (quickcharge)
-Tried OEM motorola charger / cable
-Tried computer USB charging
-Tried fastboot charging
-Tried recovery charging
-Detach battery cable from board, hit power button to drain anything that's left….reconnect battery
-Replaced the OEM battery with a new one, no go, still won't charge
-Ampere shows a cold battery for my OEM and the new one, both with -30C temperature.
-TWRP CPU temperature shows a ton of numbers, all random like C 43256132461
-All the above was done with the 6.0.1 RR ROM, rooted etc...
-Flashed back to factory stock 6.0.1, tried all the above, no go
Any other suggestions on what to try next?
Kindly check with ur service center.
I'm past the warranty window, they won't cover.
I also changed the battery, they definitely don't cover now.
As for non warranty work, I'm looking to solve it myself...this phone isn't worth a service center bill.

I know it's a bit late but as I have run into a similar problem with a Moto X 2nd generation which was also not charging (battery indicated as "cold" in Ampere) after changing the battery, I wanted to share what fixed it for me just in case. The issue seems to have been the flex ribbon (I'm not entirely sure how it is in the X Play but I'm assuming you may have something like this). Although it didn't seem to be damaged, ordering a new one and replacing it did the trick for me: both old and new batteries are now charging just fine.
For a couple of bucks, it might be worth giving a try!
