Almost a month ago, my phone ran out of battery so I charged it. When I got back, there was a warning sign and below it said: "the system has been destroyed"
I tried everything I could to flash it, included the official Xiaomi flash tool, but the problem isn't the method itself, but the phone, which it's not being recognized by my pc at all.
When I connect it (In fastboot mode), a notification shows up saying: "The USB device is not recognized", I tried commands, updating the drives, cleaning up the USB port, another USB cable, but nothing worked.
Does anyone know any possible solution for this? Thanks in advance : D

I have already tried with other cables (and all of them are working for everything except this, so it's the device's fault), and edl mode can only be activated with a computer, so i guess i'll keep trying
Drivers must have been installed multiple times.Delete them and reinstall.
Cheers.
Same problem bro
Hi!
There is a way to enable EDL mode without computer but you'll have to open your phone.
Once opened, you must short two specific test points while connecting USB.
That's how I got out of a bootloop with a locked bootloader.
For the procedure just search for "edl test point mi a1", there are many videos.

Ok so long story short, i have a nexus 7 2012 which a rooted and installed cyanogen mod.
I was using it as a car install and works perfect, i'm using an otg cable to mount usb sticks, triggering soft shutdown and powering the nexus etc. So usb seems to be working fine.
Basically i removed the tablet it to modify the bootloader to turn on automatically with ac power applied, if the battery runs out i have to manually power on with button, but now i'm running into a problem.
Ever since taking the tablet out and trying to connect over usb, none of my computers detect the tablet.
I've tried different operating systems, drivers, cables etc etc.
Also changed from mtp to ptp in storage and also turned on usb debugging mode. If i connect an otg cable the nexus see's the otg and i can mount usb's etc.
So i thought i might try recover the nexus back to factory, maybe there was an issue with the rom corrupted etc, I've downloaded the original 4.2.2 firmware which is currently installed.
Booted into recovery and tried re-installing the 4.2.2 zip, it keeps aborting. A guy in work tried to use sideloader and connect via adb. no luck.
I'm not very familiar with the android platform so i've no other ideas what to do and other idea's how to recover now.
The guy i work with mentioned using a usb jig, would that be the way to go or can anyone else suggest some else that might help.
Thanks
Before you updated when was the last time you connected your N7 to your computer?
When you connect your N7 to your computer does it act like it is charging? Have you tried more than one computer? I had a similar problem with mine last year & sent it in 3 times. Asus replaced both the USB port board & the main board on different occassions. I suspect your mainboard might be faulty.
Does adb see the device

I last connected the nexus to the laptop a few monts back to load some music onto it, didn't have a problem. It's only been connected to a computer maybe 3 times. once to root/rom it then another few times to load music etc.
I can't see why the usb board maybe faulty as i can read data from a usb key when the otg cable is connected.
It's a strange one. You could be right, i might try pick up a broken nexus and swap some parts. Usb board etc.

Yes adb is shown in device manager, but it's not recognizing the nexus, comes up with an error 10 , cannot start. etc etc

I am having this same problem on my (unrooted) HTC One after attempting to "convert" it from an AT&T to a Google Play Edition device with the procedure described here.
As part of the procedure, I attempted to flash the stock Google Play Edition ROM using fastboot commands, but I got an error message. The instructions say to just try the flash again, but the phone no longer connects properly via USB (error 10) while in bootloader mode. While in bootloader mode, the phone indicates there is some sort of problem (a line showing the OS version is highlighted in red), and attempting to enter recovery mode does nothing but display a phone with a big red X in it. The phone seems to operate fine and responds to ADB commands when the phone is fully booted, albeit with the old OS (not Google Play Edition) still in place.
Any Android device could theoretically get in this state. We're sort of "paralyzed", because everything we want to do to regain control of the bootloader and fix the situation seems to require issuing fastboot commands from a computer connected to the phone while it's in bootloader mode. Yet entering recovery mode or getting a computer to connect to it via USB no longer seems possible.
I wonder if there's another way to issue fastboot commands without relying on the USB connection to a computer?
Hi, I have strange problem with my OP2. Since some time when I connect my OP2 to PC it's only connected in charging mode. I've tried different methods to solve it: tried different cables, tried different computer, event wiped data & cache but nothing seems to work. It seems that it might have something with OOS 3.1 or eventually there is some hardware issue with my phone. Currently I'm on stock OOS 3.1 without root and on stock recovery. Is there any way to root my phone without possibility to connect it to PC in ADB/Fastboot mode? Or what else can I try to make phone to connect to PC in different mode than charging?

Connect your device in fastboot mode to your pc and go to device manager in your pc you will see a device listed as Kedacom USB device. Uninstall and delete the driver. Remove your device and connect it again.

Phone should be listed as Kedacom USB device.
Also try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
Download the latest version 1.4.3 from here
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0MKgCbUM0itNVB1elljU2NPR0k
I've tried this tool before without success. I'm afraid that there might be some hardware issue with my phone
same problem with me...i have recently updated my phone.... os 3.1.0 ...but not working with adb....after opening command prompt ...left process of adb not working
Make sure you check your device in device manager. It should be listed as Kedacom USB device uninstall and delete the driver.
Which version of windows u r using ?
I've tried on windows 10 64 bit & windows 7 64 bit.
I would try Linux

No I haven't found anything new. After update to 3.5.5 still same situation. I think this is some kind of hardware malfunction. Have you ever used charging cable other than shipped with phone? I think maybe using other cable damaged something with usb port in phone...
My phone is Xiaomi. My phone recently have been infected by viruses that destroyed some important apps like: Play Store, Google Play Services and etc. I turned it off and then, wiped all data of it. The first configuration is actually broken in the step "Connect in the MI Account", so i tried use fastboot to activate USB Debug and define home as the default and press home button through ADB. But in the first step... My computer not found it.
My Xiaomi is Redmi-2014819. I need a answer most fast possible.
Lg G6 with the same issues. Fast charge went crazy and think this has blown something inside. Only normal charging works.
No ADB, fastboot, download mode. Can't even connect to laptop or Mac to transfer files.
Had charger replaced but it's the phone I think.
Gonna replace charge port but don't think this will fix issue.
Anyone had any luck?
I've got 5 S7s on my desk, all Canadian variant, all from the same manufacturer all the same model. - SM-G930W8
All are recognised by my PC but one and I can't work out why not!
Plugging the phone into the PC makes no noise from the PC but the phone seems to detect a regular charger not a PC.
I have plugged it in using different cables including the one in its box and the ones used on other devices that were recognised and only this phone doesn't work with any of them.
I have plugged in, unplugged and rebooted many times.
I have set the USB configuration to MTP (Media Transfer Protocol)/Transferring files.
USB Debugging is ON and OEM unlocking is ON.
I have tried booting into stock recovery and wiping cache AND factory resetting.
When phone is turned on "adb devices" returns nothing.
I have installed Samsung Kies and Samsung Smart Switch to reinstall the drivers.
NOTHING IS WORKING!
All threads I find tell me to do the things I have listed above and have people saying these have worked but all of them I had already tried and double tried and nothing is working.
The cables are correct and working with other S7s of the same model.
All the correct drivers are installed and have been uninstalled and reinstalled.
All the correct setting are selected and OEM unlock and USB debugging enabled.
Phone was fresh out the box as were the other four and all cables.
Samsungs apps installed on PC to ensure best drivers installed.
Would really appreciate some guidance or consolation that its not something stupid I'm doing! I work with these phones everyday and this has never happened! Just banging my head against a brick wall trying to resolve it

Thanks but unfortunately Odin doesn't recognise in download mode.
Could it be a USB port problem if I used the same port for the other 4 devices and have no issue?
I'm considering sending the phone back to manufacturer to be honest I think it may just be a faulty device or something!
I bet its microusb port fault
Had a similar issue on Windows 10 , if that's what your running let the phone be connected, uninstall the driver from device manager, and then install driver select have disk and select the basic mtp , if this doesn't help connect to Microsoft support and they'll guide you through it , worked for me , my phone used to detect on other laptops but mine , also I could connect other phones on mine but not my phone, hope this helps
same issue here
Hi XDA members. I need your assistance.
My phone has been acting up lately. Plugged in to my laptop using the type C cable that came together with the phone and the message USB device not recognized pop-ed up. Tried re-updating the drivers @ Device Manager, but still, the problem persist. Tried changing laptop and still, the problem persist!
Before this, I can easily transfer my stuffs from my lappy to my phone and vice versa. But now, even the status bar menu option to choose "Charging/Transfer file/etc" isn't appearing..
@ Device Manager, under the Universal Serial Bus controllers tab, it's written there "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) .
My mi a1 is rooted and is on Jan update btw. Wanted to unroot & flash stock fastboot image to update to Feb update, but if I can't even connect to the pic, how am I suppose to use the MiFlash Tool?
Please help.. Feeling so restless now :crying:
Edit : Tried every method I've read in the internet, from updating drivers, unplugging power source, uninstall and re-install drivers. The only thing that I have not tried is changing cable. If it works after using a new cable, then please kindly ignore this thread/remove it please moderator. At the same time, wondering if root process has got anything to do with this..
Edit : Found the issue. It is the cable all along! Changed to a new cable and everything works fine.
Just had the exact same issue here, found your post, changed cables and everything is fine again. Thanks
Same issue with Mi A1
Hi,
I'm facing the same issue. My Mi A1 is not recognied on laptop running Windows 7 64-bit. Earlier it used to work without any problem.
My Mi A1 is running on Android 9 with Sept 2019 updates and it is not rooted.
I've tried changing cable and with developer options on and off. Nothing working.
Any suggestions to overcome this issue.
Best,
1. it happens when you had faulty cable.
2. your phone's usb port is faulty
first replace your cable if problem persist clean your phone's usb port and if both not worked repalce your phone's usb charging port
I'm happy that you already solved the issue, but for future reference:
1) If it has already worked on that PC, probably the cable is not a data cable but a charge-only cable (~faulty USB cable, but not really)
2) If it has never worked it's possibile that is a driver problem, use this tool to install ADB, Fastboot and Drivers: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
3) Unlikely, but possible, you entered the network Diagnostic Mode. Just turn off debug/restart the phone.
i have the same issue. I also tested on other PCs. I have laptop with w7 x64, it also doesn't work on w10 x64 too. When i connect A1 to pc, nothing happens in the device manager. The phone is just charging. I have debugging as on and default configuration usb as transfer files. Version os - 10.0.0.12 with unlocked bootloader and root.
The cable is good because in the previous month it worked on it. Please help me with this.
I have same problem. My phone memory is full and I have to transfer files to free it up. Some one please help. I wonder if this has to do with the security update done recently.

Check your socket - usbc, I had a damaged socket, I gave it back for warranty and changed it. I was just charging the battery.
Wysłane z mojego Mi A1 przy użyciu Tapatalka
How about hard resetting the device, will it work
This must be a generic flaw with the Mi A1 as mine is doing exactly the same. I suspect it's the USB-C port itself as it's got steadily worse over the months. I have an Outlook task to remind me to backup my phone using FreeFileSync. Everything is backed up anyway to the cloud but I do like to keep a copy of the high resolution photos as Google reduces quality with the free unlimited photo storage option.
It's charging fine so not too worried. Just need a different way to transfer the photos off the phone. I do have access to a business OneDrive account.
Working in IT, I'm not the world's biggest fan of the USB-C port. It's not as robust as the old USB-A port.
So here is the sad story , was just receiving the message in viber and the phone suddenly died, tried many methods
Tried to load into recovery
Tried MSMdownloadtool
when i hold volume +and - button and power button and plug it into the PC the MSMdownload tool recognize the device and when i follow the procedure it gives message like Firehose data read error.
That's "easy" to fix, first use the original USB cable (I don't know why, but on my device the flash always fails when I use a non-original cable), try with another USB port of your pc, or try with some other Qualcomm driver.
