Samsung S8 (SM-G950U1) stuck on "No Command" after download OTA update - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Hello everyone
My phone has an issue after it downloaded and tried to install the OTA update from December. When I turn it on, it has a blue screen and says "No Command". I've successfully been able to boot into recovery mode and do attempt a factory reset but still doesn't work.
After some googleing, it looks like I need to install the firmware manually using Odin. I'm not exactly sure where I can download the firmwhere. I've gone to a lot of very sketchy sites that promise a download, only to then be presented with a "You must be a premium member" page. (Specifically, I've tried sammobile and am currently downloading slowly from updato.com, which looks the most promising)
Is there an official repository that has Samsung firmware or another way to recover my phone? I've tried the Frija tool but it doesn't work on my Windows 10 machine since C++ 2008 is not supported on it anymore.
I'm sorry if this is a really noob question. I promised I tried searching on the forum already and either my search terms are not right or the results aren't obvious to me.

Updato and Sam mobile are your best bets. Legit sites. Just slow. You can try internet download manager to speed it up some as it multi threads. On the no command screen try spamming the vol buttons and power buttons. And it should go back to recovery. But if not a full flash may fix

I must but using sammobile wrong. When I click the free link, it counts down from 30 seconds and then goes to their join page. When I join, then it says I have to pay. Is there a trick to this or is this by design?

I can get into "Maintenance Boot Mode" (where it asks if you want to safe boot) and the "recovery" mode (where it asks if you want to apply an update using sd or adb). But now, it won't even go into "No Command" and just stays at the Samsung logo.
I'm hoping a full flash will fix it.

Thanks for all the help!
Took six hours to download from Updato but it finally did and was able to flash the firmware using Odin.

I bricked my p1010 I'm totally screwed.

I read in general about changing to GB. I tried and all I have are force closings I can't do anything. I tried to get the Russian fix, but it will not download. I tried xda but most things are from magaload and its been busted. Is there anyone with the Russian fix or another way to get GB with what I have? I can get into download, but have nothing to download.
It boots but it goes to language and then force closes. I've tried power-volume up and have tried factory refresh and delete cache, nothing has worked.
I downloaded though oden p1010 XWKC1
If you can get in Download Mode, your never "totally screwed"
Unfortunately, I have no idea what to tell you as to what to download (I don't have a P1010)....

This statement is a FACT and from the symptoms you describe (basically a boot loop) you are NOT screwed.
I recently received a GT-P1010 as a hand-me-down from my wife and did my research. I have been able to do all sorts of things to it. In my opinion this device should have it's own section here on XDA as it is nowhere near the same as the devices that get a majority of the "press" and finding the "appropriate posts" is difficult.
Bottom line ... You need to download ODIN, learn how to put your device in download mode, find the firmware upgrade/downgrade you wish to flash and use ODIN to flash them.
You say you attempted to upgrade to GB so I assume you know most of this but let me tell you .. IT WORKS!
Get your device to an OFF position and you will be able to enter download mode again. If your device is looping, in my experience shutting it OFF will be the toughest step.
Start Here
I finally got the Russian download, I installed went to 2.2, and downloaded GB, it boots now, but now I have no Market.
How do I get market?
It looks like the new GB is in German. I googled market but it's in German and I'm not sure what to hit to get market, or if it would translate.
Thanks for your responses.

You could "try" to flash one of the CyanogenMod 6.0-1.x gapp packages from Recovery: http://goo-inside.me/gapps
I found another GB firmware and it had a market. Thanks

I messed up my Firmware of S plus I9001

Guys, Ma name's Vasanth And i just registered as i found this site very useful.
Here is my problem.
Today i was mingling with my phone and i found an update for my S plus to 2.3.6. So i got to a forum and downloaded Odin and the 2.3.6 firmware, i started odin v 1.83, and ran it but failed but still the phone worked. Then i started Odin v1.43 multi-android or something. Then i t started with the OPS and the One package. it also sent a message "Big partition" 4 times and the AMSS download began and took ages, so i force closed the Odin. And i disabled my phone from the Download Mode. i got in the Normal mode and i got this Phone connecting to the PC with Dots and a hazard yellow mark on the Dots. I think the Firmware is messed up. I bought it in Dubai and got it to India. It's warranty Card is in Russian language and so does the Instruction i think.
I need solution and quick
Please and extremely please help
Thanks in Advance.

Vasanth

Get a stock rom from Samfirmware, flash it with Odin. That's the only way you're fixing it. How ? Search.

1) You absolutely do not bump threads after 25 minutes. This isn't your personal technical support hotline :-|
2) It makes no difference which firmware you use, as long as you use one for your specific model, tho I personally would use the latest one my carrier has released (if there was more than one). You may prefer to use an unbranded one for your country if there is one (I have no idea if there is/isn't one of these for the UK).
If you want to fix this, it's going to take a bit of effort on your part, we can't do it for you.
Edit - You really need to learn 'the basics' (people need to do this before they start messing with their phones, not after they bork them). Once you've fixed it, read the Stickies before you bork it permanently.

I have and am trying. Im new to Samsung, just moved after years of iPhone, hence though rooting would be similar to jailbreaking the iPhone.
Ive tried multiple ROMs now using Odin 3.07, it says it passes etc but the phone stays on the Samsung Galaxy S4 logo, it doesnt still let me enter recovery mode, but allowss me to get into download mode.
Any advice? Thanks
Download the last Twrp recovery(tar format) for your phone from their website flash it with odin 3.07
Noticeut your tar file with PDA
uncheck the reboot box.let only the reset box checked.
Don't check for any reason the partition case.
GO to download mode with your phone:hold down volume+power+home
After volume +button to continue
You are now on the download mode.connect your phone to your computer
If the box in the left corner become blue .it ok
If in the message box you see "added".it ok
Now press the start (the button to begin the process)
Wait till you will see PASSED in the left upper case.(take around 2min)
Unplung your phone,remove the battery.
Reput the battery and swicht on your phone :hold hight volume+home+power
2nd notice:when you see the samsung logo appear for the first time and going, remove your hand and you will see the beautiful twrp interface.
By the way,you should already have download SuperSu 1.51 and put that somewhere In your extsd card.
Go to install(always in the twrp recovery)
And select the Super su 1.51 or 1.41,cause they are stable)(you know the path where you will put the SuperSu app)
Installation succefull.touch the reboot button on the interface .your phone will reboot and you will see this mesage "Android upgrading"
Ok.i think you have understood.

I tried updating my J5 to Android 6

I tried to update my J500FN to Android 6.0 according to some guide from a website called "rootupdate" which showed up when I googled "update samsung galaxy j5 to 6.0"
This was a mistake because it was too vague, and I ended up trying to install the rom using some TWRP Manager app by Jmz Software.
Now when I try to boot it up, the Samsung screen shows up as normal, but at the top left it says "set warranty bit: recovery". Also I can only get to the Samsung screen once, afterwards I have to remove my battery and reinsert it to see it again.
Since then, I've tried to unbrick it according to several different guides which all follow the same beat: download the firmware you need, and use Odin to flash it or whatever it does. Problem is that I can't find a firmware with my model number anywhere (J500FNGSMH) and whenever I try to flash anything with Odin it takes its sweet time until kindly informing me that the operation has failed by yelling "FAIL!" at me. I've used Odin 3.09 and 3.10 and they both provide the same result. Now I'm at a loss, so I figured I'd create this thread to ask for help. Just remember that I suck at this type of thing so you'll probably have to explain it like I'm 5 years old.
PS: I just copied most of this from another forum post I made in sammobile, which somehow got me banned immediately so now that website is on my list of things to get revenge on, so if it doesn't make any sense that's probably why.

As it seems you still have recovery there. You can use it to flash any custom rom try odin 3.11 and try different firmware from updato.com
You can get Firmware from sammobile
I don't even remember how, but i flashed some rom and Odin told me it failed, but my phone started working normally anyway. Technology am i right lads

bricked sm-t580

i have the T580 32GB of a friend here, that does not work at the moment (and maybe never again ) - the problem is that on startup it only gives this message in red letter :

the only thing i can do is get into download mode - but i fail when i try to install a stock rom via odin - after NAND Write Start!! it times out and gives me a fail.
i already tried a 3 different odin versions and adroid 6.0, 7.0 and 8.01 Stock Rom for SM-T580 but no luck so far.
another problem is my friend does not know what the android version he was on before that hapend - and the tablet has Samsung FRP on.
maybe some of the experts here have an advice what i can try otherwise this tab a is really bricked - furthermore i wonder how this could happen as my friend swears he did not try to put twrp or anything else onto the tablet ....
Have you tried flashing TWRP using ODIN? (AP Slot)
i do not know if flashing twrp is a good idea as i do not know if oem unlock is enabled - and as it does not boot up i cannot switch it on in developer options

Wouldn't it simply fail if OEM unlocking was disabled? I don't know honestly. I'd try it if no other solutions come up.

I think you are going about it wrong. Instead of booting to download mode, try booting to recovery mode via Home, Vol Up and Power and then selecting Factory Reset. This is always necessary before you can use download to flash a ROM via Odin and it might make using Odin unnecessary.
of course i tried to get into receovery mode but the problem is i can't - when i do home, vol up and power absolutely nothing happens, i only get into download mode
edit: i believe FRP is the Problem this prevents odin from writing the files to the tablet - as it allways times out with :
Complete(Write) operation failed.

what i do not really understand is why FRP does not let odin flash an original samsung firmware ?
[QUOTE what i do not really understand is why FRP does not let odin flash an original samsung firmware ?[/QUOTE]
This sounds more like a binary issue. I have reason to believe you are what's called an FRP Binary Lock. Recovery is usually inaccessable or re-routed and you cannot "seem" to use Odin3 but in fact you can. This issue you apparently are having sounds oddly like some issues I've had on these devices and is often a result of bad Rooting or invalid firmware being installed. This overloads the binaries and puts the device in a locked mode with symptoms of an inaccessible Recovery a difficult to use Odin3 or a bootloop. Most of the time I hear of a notification somewhere of an FRP lock. If this is the situation you are in here is a link to a page of mine that will give you the files to helpfully solve your issue. Let me know if that works or not.

The situation I was suspecting is a "Custom Binaries are Blocked by FRP Lock" to which you would have seen a notification of it in one of 4 ways. Your situation is somewhat similar because you cannot access Recovey and although Download Mode is accessable it appears useless. Your device is not Bricked. A bricked device is unusable in any way and these days most devices can be restored.
You do seem to be having some difficulties that are usually common with binary issues. You can in fact use Odin3 but how is the question. Usually one can flash in the Stock firmware and that returns the device to normal. When it becomes impossible to flash in stock firmware or anything else it seems, to my experiance has always been a Binary issue. I will provide a link to the 4File Official firmware. And instructions for you to properly use it for your needs.
SM-T580 Official Stock Firmware 4Files
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1zvhwUfSRW44V1ZwEsHLRvlh-T0M79ks9
I'll assume you know something about using Odin3. Unzip the file to your desktop. There are 4 files but you'll only use 3 of them. You can use the patched version of Odin3.13B or you can use Odin3.14. Place the files in their respective places. BL, and AP are easy enough to see where they go. Now there is a file labeled CSC and one labeled HOME CSC. You will only use one of them. The CSC file returns your app data to factory settings (it erases everything). The Home CSC file keeps the app data. So it's your choice which one you choose. These are Official Firmware Files so you should be able to flash them in. Should that not work for you my most likely answer would be that your binaries are the issue and that is why you can't as of yet use Odin sucessfully. Does Odin even try to initiate a flash then stalls or does it do nothing altogether?
There are two different Binary files for the SM-T580 that I have. I would suggest using the Binary 4 FRP first. f I recall correctly the Odin3.13B patched version was made for this. Place the file in the AP section and try flashing it. You should get a few gears on the screen turning if it applied, or maybe not. If that fails use the U4 Binary Unlock file. It is only after you flash in the binary files that you can then install the Stock Firmware. It is the overloaded binaries that prevent the use of Odin as you may be experiancing. I am also including the Knox cleaner in case you need to reset it.

U4 Binaries. This is two files. Flash one at a time using the AP section. They are labeled 1rst or 2nd

Only if they could get into Recovery they may be able to reset it.
I have never once needed to go to Recovery to do "anything" before using Odin3 to flash.
The only time I've had to go there (repetedly) and reset was when trying to get past FRP Google Account Protection. Sometimes it takes out the page I want to get to and I need to reset it to get to it again. This is "not" always neccesary before flashing a ROM which rewrites the device programing.
sorry for double post

thanks for your help so far, i am gonna try your suggestions on weekend when i have a bit more spare time - hope i can get the tab running again
