I looked around and found related issues but they could boot recovery. I can't. I always get rpm crash after lg logo. Like I said though, I cant boot recovery manually, does the yellow screen rpm crash again. I do still have the your device is corrupt at beginning before lg logo, the black, then crash. Ls997. Please help and thank you.
So I can fastboot flash, meaning I have unlocked bootloader still right?
Fastboot flashed boot.img, recovery.img and same issue. Yellow rpm crash screen after lg logo. I dont know what else I can do.

If you can get into fastboot... I would try to get into download mode and KDZ it back tonstock and then mod from square one... Probably would loose everything on internal SD though. Not sure what RPM does or is for.

I think that should work. I would look for an older KDZ (pre android 6.0). Better Instructions here.

To be safe, I'd take the same VS995 KDZ you took when first going through the Dirty Santa process. For most of us LS997 users, that would have been VS99512A_06_1114_ARB00.kdz which you can get here:
https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-vs995-firmwares/#tab=firmwares
I will post results after I try later or tomorrow. Thank you both again

Sorry to see this. So fastboot mode is the only one that works without crashing?
Maybe it's worth reaching out to one of the experts out there. The guy who did the newer rooting procedure for the H918 and wrote the LS997-specific rooting guide, Brian, did reply to someone with a similar problem before in this thread that you may have already come across:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/help/yellow-screen-death-rpm-crash-boot-t3637772
Though no solution was posted, he might have some ideas. Don't know how much he's around nowadays since he went with a V30 a while back, but it's worth a shot contacting him. I'd hate to see another rare rootable LS997 get lost.

hi everyone
if your like me and like to flash and flash stuff by accident things that shouldnt be on your varient lol. (my phone is D803 rogers and i managed to flash t-mo onto it and got stuck in fastboot mode. no download mode no recovery possible at all at this point no matter what button sequence i tried instantly fastboot)after hours of research and trial and error. i managed to use a couple programs that helped me boot my phone D803 which now thinks its a D801 and fully boots as T-mo and at this point it booted and my simcard is not a proper sim it says.
anyways the story is i was able to create a zip that turned my D803 which turned into a D801 back into a D803 and save my fastboot bricked device woohoo.
if any1 needs info on how this was done i will write it down when i have a little more time on my hands.
and also i will thank all the people i can that made the forums and tools that were needed for this to be done.

Yes, I had to use fastboot and remove system. Once I did this the lg g2 tool allowed me to reflash the phone back to factory.

D803 question
Hey, kind of related... I'm considering upgrading to the G2 (from Samsung GS2 LTE aka: skyrocket) but i noticed that there isn't a 'D803' or 'rogers' section in the forums. So if i want to flash a custom OS, which versions should i be using? 802? are there dedicated 803 roms and I'm just not seeing them?
Any info would be appreciated.

most roms youll see d800/801/802/803 etc. most cm and aosp are fine i found. just dont do any off the stock kitkat flashing. thats what i did and i got lucky once... i fixed it. but the second time i killed my phone
this site has a few roms made for d803 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2611749
Hey what's up. I had this issue happen to me and it was a big pain for me to fix and there is no official fix. This is what I did in order to fix it. You basically need to adb pull your build prop end change the model number to your original number and place it back on your SD card and change your system over to rewrite able and push the new build prop to your system and bam!!!!! Fixed

im guessing my issue was a bit different. as i couldnt even get a download mode.
what i did was use
fastboot used erase laf then flashed all the ones im gonna mention. d803 laf.img flashed that and since i was already flashing laf i flashed all the rest i could find such as recovery aboot etc.follow this thread to do all this if you have lost download mode and but have it stuck in fastboot mode
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2477595 thanks to cms88168 for this step by step. just download all images for your device. mine was d803 so i downloaded all d803 imgs.
then you can head over to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2483043 and get the DLL file he has made which works with any version i tried 801-802 and 803 tot file. . thanks to AndroidUser00110001 for making this dll file.
you will need to get your model tot file and LGflashtool which can be found it the thread posted above. but please make sure you have your proper tot file. flash that and your good to go. sorry im sure my instructions are all over but should be in right order. im just used to doing not explaining for others. good luck and hope you fix your device
I had a rooted LG G2 D802 on EE with KK update that was working fine until today...
I tried to flash a nice custom rom to it and well, to cut a long story short something went wrong and the next thing i know i have a phone which only shows up as about 10 hdd's in windows, and as QHSUSB_BULK in device manager.
I couldn't get it to go into download mode or anything, so i followed the Unbricking guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142
Unfortunately this appeared to do nothing for the phone, so i used the Tung Lee guide and this also did nothing.
After i did the above guide the phone was no longer recognised in windows or Linux, but thanks to this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/general/lg-g2-unbrickable-fix-real-hard-brick-t2904404
I was able to at least get it back to the state it was in in the first place.
After following all these guides i am now at a loss as to how to sort my phone out,and i'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction for a fix..
When the phone was working, i put the imei into the firmware engine and it found me the D80220H firmware, i have tried using the bin files from the first guide and from D80220B as well with no luck, so i was wondering if one of the above guides do indeed work, how can i get the .img files i need from a D80220H KDZ?
Its been a long night and i'm now currently without my phone, i'm hoping someone can help and i can get my beloved G2 back to a working state before the weekend.
Thanks in advance, and sorry for the long post.
Tony
Have you simply tried the LG Flash Tool? When it happened to me once, i simply reg
Flashed kdz using this tool and voila!!! Try and report
@Shadowhunta Are you using the twrp IMG from that first guide? That might explain why this isnt working. Extract the kdz using this tool
Flash the aboot, boot and laf then try download mode.

I was using the TWRP from that post, but then i downloaded the latest one and that didn't make any difference, I haven't tried that tool properly yet to get the .img files needed from the KDZ i have for D80220H, but i have flashed the aboot, boot and laf of D80220B and that didn't help either, i couldn't get it into recovery mode, download mode or anything! With the first tutorial i managed to get it into Hard reset mode, but it just hung on processing.
Thanks for the suggestions, i will try them during lunch and get back to you both, thank you so far!

Well LG have tajen their sweet time, i won't be getting the envelope to send it back in until monday.
Soooo if i can get this fixed before then i would be very happy!

Hey, so me and @schizoidd are working on another thing to test. It is very risky, go here ONLY if you are interested in possibly sacrificing your device for root.
like, very risky. I have an edited .tot file I need to test. I am about 50% sure it will work

THOUGH, @f_scott_scrambled_eggs may be able to help!

Link is ready if you would like to test... please respond in the Skype chat
this is ONLY for the sprint G5 and not any other device. And, yes, the .tot is ready for trial. and the skype link gets ahold of me directly if there's any issue.
Flashing now... will update with results.
UPDATE: Bootlooping.
Code:
Boot verification fail! cause: MISMATCH_SIG_LEN
I'm still able to get into download mode. Only soft bricked it. A stock image flash should fix this for anyone else who's willing to try whenever we get another .tot made to attempt flashing.

No, he did what The did and just wrote TWRP into the TOT. We knew it wouldn't work, but we thought we would just test it anyways to see what would happen.
On the other hand, Schiz edited the TOT before and got it to display userdebug mode on the phone itself, but adb does not recognize it as a userdebug build so we can't use the disable-dm-verity command. Please check out this thread that he started if you have the chance... http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g5/development/sprint-userdebug-t3404260

Im not arguing the validity of this technique in most cases this would be proper procedure but my failure happened partway through writing partitions.
the partition map is corrupt and laf is empty there is no download mode to communicate with anymore. very specific to MY device download mode has been in the easiest sense of the situation deleted

Sounds like you got 2 warranty issues now. If the bootloader is locked, LG should honour the repair.
There's a program called QFIL (qualcomm flash) and you can use it to flash a kdz. I believe all it does is flashes download mode as once it succeeds and your phone is in download mode you would then reinstall stock kdz. I noticed there's a mention of 'firehose' though and I'm unsure yet of what that is.
Just curious: how did you manage to remove write protected partition while your bootloader is locked?

No. Order an H918 with a cracked screen and clean IMEI off of eBay (actually it doesn't even have to have a clean IMEI, you can use the one from your current phone), and replace the board.

The above is still true, if this didnt happen immedately after/during rooting/flashing something or using a dd command (while also rooted) your board is dying and you need a new one.
