Swapping the recovery file in a kdz file... with custom recovery? - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Is this even possible, i am wondering. If not, is adding custom root boot.img possible?

I mean modifying it using hex editor... maybe?

reflash my rom for example then adb pull whatever you want to edit
then put in zip with an update script and apply in recovery
then create a backup in recovery and that system img and boot img is what you can upload for other people to install
dont give the data img because its personal

How can you trick rom manager to flash a stock recovery?

I've read someone talking about it but never could figure out how it is done. I know I would need a stock img file that's recovery. That's about as far as I could figure out. I was afraid of bricking so I wasn't up to let's try this and see what happens. Anyone who has done this before out there that could tell how its done?
Download a recovery through rom manager, navigate to the download and copy the exact recovery name, then change stock recoverys name to match it, switch out the files. Boom.

[Q] How do I flash a kernel (.img)?

I really tried do find a way to do this but I can't.
I have Carbon Rom 4.4.2 for p705 but I have a p700 and as Carbon's doesn't have OC they recommended to flash Cr3pt's kernel but the only I could find was a boot.img. In flashify it says that boot partition can't be found..
So can anyone send me or teach me how to flash a .img file or get me a easier to flash kernel if that's possible thanks...
You can't flash it like you usually do. Boot.img are a CWM backup so you need to go to backup/restore and choose advanced restore and the navigate to the boot.img and start the restore process
Hope that helps and make sure it's a file matching your device and your current rom.

One more thing, you can also use the file to overwrite the one in the rom zip file using 7zip or winrar

No and yes, I'd you flash the rom first you'll be fine. The rom zip contains boot.img so if you first restore the boot.img it will be overwritten if you flash the rom second. Therfore you should replace the boot.img in the rom zip.
How it helps and clarify the situation

Stock 5.1.1 flashable zip?

I'm trying to find an easy way to return my tablet to stock so I can sell it. Is there a flashable zip for 5.1.1? I'm rooted and TWRP is installed. I can't find any ROMs like this.

Thanks. I'm looking for a zip file that I can flash via TWRP. I don't think what you linked to is that. Maybe I missed something though?
ETA: Can I flash the OTA zip file in TWRP?
@Superorb why not flashing the factory image using fastboot? It's much more secure than TWRP. (You might want to have a look here ). If you are already on the latest bootloader you can also skip that step.
I'm afraid of screwing something up using fastboot. I've never had a problem using TWRP.
In the image I downloaded there is a zip file that looks like any regular flashable zip. Can I do that or should I just go the flashboot way?

Root your device using boot.img method, install flashify and backup your recovery, I believe, it will backup your stock recovery but you have to put the extension ".img" in the backed up file, the backed up file would be without any extension.
Please confirm it from other sources.
