Hello everyone,
This is my first post in the forum and it is also important for me to say that I am not so good in English so use the Google dictionary, I will try to be as clear as possible, and I will try very hard to understand your answers despite the language gaps. If you can be more detailed it might be helpful.
I bought and installed in the car (skoda) a new audio system with android 10. There is some control over the volume but I have little problem with that. On the original radio, every little turn of the wheel would change the volume significantly, meaning two or three turns were enough to weaken the sound from low to high. Today and after installing the new radio - I need to rotate over 10 turns to get the same result. I searched the settings and didn't find how to set it up. My question is, does anyone here know the matter and know how it can be configured from the settings or via an external app?

You do not mention at all which unit you have. You can not expect that everyone will try to help you, if you do not give them the necessary info. There are many brands here with a lot of experienced users for those brands.
What you type is the same as: the volume of my previous TV worked good. The volume of my new TV does not work good. What kind of TV ????
Anyway: if you have a model with CAN bus, you might first try to see if you have the correct CAN bus protocol. Some cars also arrange the volume via the CAN bus. In that case one sub option might give you good volume control (from 1 to 10 in one rotation of the volume knob) and others not (like from 1 to 10 in 10 rotations of the volume knob). And your Skoda might just have such a CAN bus control (mine had that).
And as you type "SWC setup", I assume you mean the horizontal rolling button on your steering wheel, and not the one on your head unit.

Thank you very much for the detailed response.
You're right, but I didn't know what details could help and I didn't want to just throw in details. I have now downloaded CPU-Z and ADIA64. Can you please say what details are relevant?
About CANBUS - I really have. And with me the volume setting is regulated by him. But I have no idea how to tell if it's set up correctly. I just connected the unit as it came. And right I mean the wheel that is on the steering wheel and the unit itself.
In each case, I'll also include a link to the unit so you can see what it is.

CPU-Z and ADIA64 don't help here. They are "real" Android apps and know nothing about CANbus systems.
Sorry, but you really need to contact your supplier and ask which CANbus protocol(s) should be selected for your specific car.
For my (previous) unit and my Skoda, there was an xyz_HIGH and xyz_LOW protocol depending on the car. The HIGH protocol increased volume really fast. The LOW more slowly. This all depending on the components in the car.
I have no idea which settings your unit uses, but I have the idea that it is set to xyz_LOW, where it actually should be the HIGH protocol.
(where xyz can be any name your manufacturer has given it, and HIGH/LOW can just as wel be FAST/SLOW or anything else)
Thank you for your comment.
1. My intent of the apps to understand the system model
2. Thanks for the information. I will now search the settings for the letters XYZ
3. I can search for the model myself (even help me know a sample example to know what it looks like there is a lot of information). The seller simply does not understand and communication with him is not always good in terms of this kind. The seller is excellent, responds to everything and quickly but sometimes things like that are difficult for us to communicate.
Edit - I searched for XYZ I don't have such a function.

No, it is definitely not called xyz. I said: "where xyz can be any name your manufacturer has given it"
Search on youtube for "joying canbus setting". Joying is a brand but has many systems for VW/Skoda/Seat. You will find movies for several brands. Maybe that will give you an idea.

Can I install an operating system like JOYING?
I have android head unit. Do you think I can upgrade to the higher version ?

so as the title says which is the best joying or other android head unit as far as modability and versatility.
right now i have rooted parrot asteroid smart that is adequate but kinda lacking in processing power so can lag if i have more than a few apps open with torque running in the background.
I'm interested in this thread. I have an Xtrons unit I've been using for the past 5 years now, so I'm due for an update.
I know one thing that's important to me in any head unit I get is that it have physical dials and/or buttons. Touchscreen controls require visual contact, which I'd like to keep to a minimum while driving. Volume control and << | >> song controls primarily. Screencasting would also be a huge plus. I'm just beginning to do my research, so any shortcuts or suggestions anyone can offer, I'd love to hear it.
I have a winca s190 from carnaviplayer
Styled to the same shape as my original OEM one
Literally has everything you just listed
this is for my forfour

I would also love to know the answer to this question
Hey all. First time I've posted on this account. Forgot my old one, haven't posted since I was loading custom cyanogen mods on my HTC G2 back in 2010.
So I'm trying to wrap my head around if I can get this setup all functioning as desired.
Car: 2015 Nissan Versa SV Sedan
Head Units I'm Looking at: JY-UO135P4 or US-JY-UO135N4PX5 (Basically, I want a Joying unit with a volume knob.) I would prefer IPS but it's hard to track what panels are what with Joying.
Steering Wheel Control Adapters: It looks like there's a learning function in these that will just work on Nissan cars? So I'm not putting an adapter on here, but if it allows me to do more, or makes it cleaner/easier of a process, then please suggest one.
My intent is to use this exclusively with JetAudio. The ability to make playlists on the fly from my mp3 collection is a dream come true, I love its UI, and I want this in my dashboard.
I assume I will need to use MtcdTools to get the steering wheel controls functioning better? Or did any of you have luck with the built in? Though, the last version appears to have come out in 2017, is it even computable with the units I'm looking at? On my wheel I have a rocker for skip/previous track. I also want to be able to hold it down to fast forward or go back. Volume is also a must. (I don't even care about hands free calls in the least. I don't talk on the phone when driving, if it's important, I'll go park somewhere and call them back. So in theory, if need be, my call and end call buttons could be mapped to something else, if that's a useful resource.)
The above is my biggest priority, but there's a couple of nice-to-haves.
Can I shut off the screen? The screens can be pretty bright, I'd love to be able to toggle it on and off (just like you could do on a phone or tablet).
I could, maybe use those "call" and "end call" buttons for this if it's mappable? Or if I could just set it to shut off the screen after X seconds, that would be a decent compromise.
Any feedback greatly appreciated. I've been lurking for months, but I've been too nervous to just jump out into the unknown and do it, so I decided I needed the feedback.
EDIT: Another dead end I guess. People are so enthusiastic about these, yet it's so hard to find things out about them.
I ordered a PX6 4 /64 GB (MTCE_CHS) head unit with 720 p display and Android 9 for my Mercedes-Benz W211. I found a seller at AliExpress with great reviews so I felt safe to order from them.
This will be a short review which I hope can help someone who is looking for info before buying a Android Head unit, but I am also very thankful if someone has ideas how I can solve my problems.
Pros:
- Very sharp display with good viewing angles.
- Reverse cam works great in good lightning conditions.
- Fast startup from standby.
- Useful equalizer which makes it possible to get a great sound experience.
- Custom ROM, root, Tasker and FCC Launcher make it possible to customize the head unit in many ways.
- Very good GPS performance when connected to original powered GPS-antenna in car.
- Apple CarPlay works and looks generally very good, but has problems with sound mixing which makes it useless.
Cons:
- Handsfree sound quality sucks so much it's useless. Sound from the other persons is bad and they can't barely hear me. Tried with external microphone also.
- No auto brightness and max brightness is low in sunny conditions.
- General audio quality, there is constant background noise and interference from wifi, bluetooth and USB devices makes it worse.
- The head unit was supposed to be plug and play but I had to modify my car and use an dremel multi tool to cut the plastic in the car, which makes it difficult to go back to original head unit. This is normal according to seller but no info before buying.
- Android apps does not display well in a car head unit. Even when adjusting dpi it is difficult to find a good setting. Text and objects will be too small or too big, sometimes frustrating and dangerous to control music and navigation apps when driving.
- Android Auto is displayed in low resolution and looks bad, it also has problems with sound mixing which makes it useless.
- FM radio reception is bad, even though I use the original powered antenna in the car.
- General sound mixing problems in different apps.
- I had dust debris inside the display, which is visible with both display off and on.
Problems:
- I have an intermittent problem with a "popping" sound and at the same time the display goes to night mode for a second and reset the clock to 0:00. Tried to disable auto night mode in factory settings but no difference.
- Sometimes when opening a door or turning on the ignition there is a loud high pitch sound from the speakers, very uncomfortable, almost hurts the ears and scares the passengers.
- Sound mixing, when using Android Auto och Apple CarPlay, it will automatically lower music volume when giving navigation directions, but will not increase volume afterwards. So when you manually increase music volume again, next time the voice will be so high it almost destroy your speakers and ears. The navigation voice in Waze Android app gets cut 0,5 - 1,0 seconds to early.
When speaking to the seller they have problems understanding my issues, and just tell me to wait for MCU update (I already have the latest). Seems like they just want to delay so the time when it is possible to open a dispute will end.
What would you recommend me to do? Demand an exchange of my head unit and canbus decoder and hope it will solve the problems? Demand a refund and buy a Sony or Kenwood Android Auto / Apple CarPlay head unit?
Just accept the problems and issues and try to forget that I paid A LOT of money for the head unit and all the accessories?
There are dozens of different manufacturers and hardware types using PX6.
Post MCU type so people can know the manufacturer and type of unit being reviewed.

Sorry, it is a MTCE_CHS, I added the info to the first post.
I think that this highlights a general problem with the chinese android head units: They just aren't "consumer-ready". Don't get me wrong, they provide fantastic bang for your buck, but they all have their problems (many of which can be solved through help from this forum) and they all lack any decent support. Having said that, I also have a PX6 4G/64G unit in my car, and I just don't have any of the problems you mention. It's not without its annoyances, and I have had to work through several problems to get it sorted, but after just a few months I am very happy with what I have ended up with. The sound quality is fantastic to my untrained ears, and it all works fairly smoothly. I got a massive upgrade in functionality in my 21 year old car for not much money.
In your case, there seem to be too many problems that appear to be related to the hardware. I don't think that an MCU update is going to fix the issues that you list, and so If it were me, I would be returned the unit asap, and trying a different manufacturer, either another chinese manufacturer or one of the proven japanese manufacturers.
Hi,
i recently recieved this unit (supposedly running 10.1 w. 9-inch screen, 1GB/16GB, but from other threads here i assume that this would not be quite true (Android version....)). Anyhow, after installing it in my car, i noticed that the stock car radio ceased to work and i wonder if it would be possible to get sound working from it again, even if this Android head-unit is connected?
No one has this problem? at all?
Sure, i have the radio of this Android unit working, but i'm just trying to understand why it would cut off the stock radio?

I'm having the same problem did you manage to find a solution to the problem
yes and no. On my unit, there is this L+R "aux in" connectors hanging out of the main harness (that comes out of the Android unit) and the sellers (after 5 roundtrips of mails, videos of me explaining the issue, etc) told me to connect those two to the "aux-out". I believe they meant the aux-out on my car stereo (nothing such exists on the Kenwood unit that the car came with). What i DID try was to connect the audio-out (that also comes out of the Android head unit) to the aux-in and then i actually got sound from my car CD/Radio. Problem with that was that it now came out mixed together with the audio from the Android unit.
To make matters worse, as soon as i exited the Android unit radio app, the sound from my CD stopped playing as well (so muted). Only if i had either my radio on (android) or if i played something from USB (mp3) the sound came through.
The seller then told me to launch the AVIN app as that would be the only way to make it work, which it did not. To top it all off, having it connected like this (even if i dropped the volume on the Android unit to 0) was causing this constant "hum" in my speakers so it was not practical at all.
So no, it was never solved and imho it never will be solved (unless possibly if you have some aux-out connectors available?)
Thanks for reply I was thinking along the same lines myself which is good, as my car has an aux in so I was going to see if I could find aux out and connect it, I will have a good try this week and keep you updated, which vehicle is your unit installed in by the way
Hi Mercedes-w204, i have a Subaru Legacy 2005 with a Kenwood (gx-201-LHF2) radio/CD unit (without aux)
I got in touch with the sellers and now they are telling me that a filter might help sorting out the issue, lets see where it all ends up
In general, these units are replacing stock audio altogether. It's not recommended to keep stock stereos period.
I would tend to agree with you, but the issue i have is that the stock radio is rock solid where this one leaves certain things to desire (it sometimes has static, mutes occationally, etc). Also, i would like to keep the CD available and basically use it for maps/nav, USB audio and BT (prefferably routed through the stock stereo).

Wouldn't it be easier to just use your Android phone then? But I see what you mean and fully agree with you, which is why I heavily mod these units - hardware and software alike.
You can improve the radio quality considerably, nearly to DAB level. The sound can also be improved to very hi-end output levels. Frankly, enough things can be improved in these units at a very low cost (provided you have the equipment and intermediate soldering skills). T give you an example, this is what I know is possible to achieve with these units:
Enhance sound to HIFI quality
Improve radio to close to DAB output quality
Improve wifi speed 10-20x times
Improve microphone by up to 5 times
Enhance the speed of the operating system by 50%
Reduced overheating by up to 200%
Stabilize the Android OS while adding endless tweaking options for UI, sound, and other functions
Wow. Yeah it would be needed imho as those areas (that you describe) could be improved. Anywhere where mods like these are described?

The instructions are available here and on 4PDA forums, to name a few. It would take me an insanely long time to put everything here. I have a daytime job and a family so, unfortunately, no time to do what you asked. I might add some How-To videos to my Youtube channel later on.
Hello there all, I recently installed an android head unit from AliExpress, and everything went well until I first noticed that non of the buttons on the wheel worked. I saw many posts about this, but I didn't mind as I really didn't use it much. However, I got a professional to install the reversing camera that came with the head unit and try fixing the steering wheel's buttons. Because the professional attempted to fix the buttons for the steering wheel, he caused non of the buttons below the head unit to work (e.g. radio, the numbers, and turning the circle to try and change the volume). The "professional" was only able to get 2 of the buttons on the steering wheel to work (volume up and down, but you have to hold it down for like 5 seconds before it works), and when I tried to get back to him, they didn't respond. Also some reason, the volume will randomly mute every now and then (e.g. listening to music and the volume goes to 0).
I have seen many other threads about checking fuses and removing the battery for 10 minutes; however, I was wondering if there may be other fixes you guys may have that may help before attempting the battery method.
I would also like to say that I'm not overly confident working with or in cars. However, if there is a video or a simple explanation on how to do the fix, that would help make me feel confident.

I have set the CAN-settings to what the seller provided from AliExpress.
However, I think the steering wheel buttons are functional by resistors/resistance. (e.,g. wiring of KEY1, KEY2 and KEY GND).
I have a feeling that the "professional" may have done something to the wiring or such just to get the steering wheel buttons to work but in the process, he has made the radio control panel buttons not work anymore.
My main focus is just to fix the radio control panels (the picture below) as I use those way more than any other buttons on the steering wheel.

The radio control panel is provided by the CAN.
As no one knows what they did to the wiring, any help with it is no possible. You need to talk with the "professional" to get this fixed.
In your case about the SW buttson are connected to the resistor cales, you just need to search for the related app to set them. This is no automatism. May be you need to search for the SW in the settings. As I don´t know your system, I am not able to provide more help here.
Edit: You may test some other CAN-settings, may be they changed something and this leads to the issue with the radio buttons.

I get that, I don't really care about the SW buttons. I'm mainly just more focused on trying to figure out the radio control panel. I'm confused because the radio control panel stopped working as I had the "professional" help. Also, it's hard to talk with them again as they gave just left me on read for about 2 weeks now (from Airtasker).
I'll have another look tomorrow deeper into the CAN-settings, and will message the AliExpress seller for some help as I remember they said a problem like this might occur without the correct CAN-settings as you mentioned as well.
