Hi everybody,
I am using LG V20 (LG-F800K) Korean version. Yesterday, I updated it from Android 8 to Android 9.
However, both on Android 8 and 9, I didn't find the "Network Mode" function to switch to 4G only.
I have read a rooting guide, but it's for Android 7 and LG-F800L, not for my device model and operating system!
I want to ask is there any way to root my device? And where is the "Network Mode" function?
Thank you very much! ♥
there is no way rooting pie. btw hows the android 9 performance on v20. should i upgrade my f800l or not?

I don't know! My device is F800K, not F800L, so I am wondering if it has root support?
Try 5457#*800# using your phone dialer & choose LTE
You have to root using Nougat only. Then upgrade in the right way to not loose the root. If you OTA you will just loose root.
All f800 users should have kernel with static screen fix to use Android pie with root. But we still don't have such kernel. It'll be perfect to have an mk2000 kernel for pie.

Just tried and it dosent work. Now there are two options:
1.Use Kingoroot
2.Wait for exploit that works with Android 6.0
The second option seems to be more logical since the Marshmallow update was released 2 days ago.
i don't have any update yet, on lg bridge too :/

Are you sure you have the K420n model? Maybe auto update is disabled.
yes, it's 100% K420n but with Play brand

I think Play will be the last carrier to release Android 6.0 for this phone. You have to wait. If you are rooted then dont update or else you risk bricking your phone.
if it is true, pleake post screenshot with marshmellow on k420n
Guys, I don't suggest you to root your device. Marshmallow has Android Boot verification. What's it? It checks the all partitions if anything changed from stock. If it sees somethings has changed, might block your device. I just warn you, be careful and know what you'll do.
Yes I'm with 'berkantlz'. Chainsfire has developed a new way to successfully root Android 6.0 by not modifying the /system partition, but this is only for certain devices.
If anyone want to update to Android 6.0.1 on LG K10, it's OK. But by now DON'T TRY TO ROOT IT.

I forgot to mention but Android 6 is only available (by now) por certain phone companies, not all, even if you bought the same model.
But you have available to download and install Android 6.0.1 KDZ file from (Orange = Spain and Plus = Poland) companies, that if is not the official LG firmware (without phone's companies bloatware), you could install the last android version for it phone model.
For links, visit the LG K10 WhatsApp Group.
When called in to lg netherlands cust support today to ask for the carrier-free update status they told me the guys in seoul still had to test some things before they flip the switch. So lets hope the korean todo list is not too long...

LG K10 (K420n)Poland Plus , yesterday received 6.0 (778mb ota) V20B

Play (Poland) have got the v20b too
K430TR Turkey model has got V20y yesterday. It's already shipped with 6.0 but yeah
I have a marshmallow for about a week and i can say something about that
The first is battery, it's working shorter (Screen-On-Time 3h 30m) but Doze mode is perfect
I have got themes option and SmartWorld (i know it was in LP already but my carrier turned it off) and many new functions.
Light sensor and VPN works better.
Now On Tap worked good too but it turned off and i don't know how to turn it on back.
What about performance? The same like in LP, but it seems to me that animations is bit longer than on LP (just longer animations, no lags). Antutu? LP - 28k pts, MM - 27k pts.
After update i had problem with refreshing available wi-fis list and bluetooth just turning off after trying to connect with a speaker but hard reset helped and i haven't this problems now.
On LP i had lags on opening notifications panel with the navbar button, on MM it works perfect.
When I poweroff the screen and poweron back, i had about 1-2% of battery less. MM - no problem with this.
Don't Disturb Mode is quite difficult to use but works fine.
If you have questions ask here.
@edit my friend with nonbrand K10 (Poland) said that his phone is getting charged faster

Hi I just bought the axon 7 global version running mifavor 4 and I want to to update is anyone out there is using global version of axon 7 ?? The new version nougat 7 . I am running Android 6
? you can update it manually or via OTA
latest version is MiFavor 4.2/1.2.0B08 for A2017G
Do you want to mod it, root, recovery, ROMs etc?
Or just keep it standard and as up to date as possible?
If standard, follow manufacturer directions, if modded, research here very carefully before doing anything.
I have the same question. My Axon 7 2017G comes from Gearbest. I do not want to root it (compay policy) but would like to upgrade to Android 7, but only if it improves the phone (notably battery life). Any suggestions? Where can I download the upgrade package at ZTE, since I found different ROMs on their website.
I currently have android 6.0.1 with security patch level of 01/01/17 (very old I think). And in the update section it tells me that I have the latest version.
Your help and advise is very much appreciated. Thanks

Hi There !
I have recently bought LG V20 H910. It is on android 7.0 and its further details are as below:
Android security patch level: December 1, 2016
Build number: NRD90M
Software version: H91010i
Whenever i try to update the android, it says that there is no further update available. I tried both OTG as well as LG PC suite methods. When i tried searching for security patches on LG site, i got this info that latest patch is from March 2018.
I wanted to know how can i update my phone and why it says that there is no update available, when there is update available as per this LG site
My device is not rooted. I tried to root it earlier to install lineage OS (by following the guide). I am not a tech savvy kind of person at all.
Please help me with this.

Well it seems so. I tried rooting it with kingoroot and it failed. Then i searched online for rooting solution and came to know that v20 cannot be rooted by these software because the bootloader is locked.. It needs another method (told in forums). Well i didn't try them.
I need some further help in this regards. I have few questions. I hope you can answer them.
1. If i unlock the bootloader and install twrp and then install the stock rom, CAN I INSTALL ANY stock rom, for example, stock rom of international model instead of at&t version?
2. I am using h910 but not with at&t sim. I am on other network. Will installing with official rom (other than at&t version), keep the gsm working>?

You could possibly flash the US996 which is the unlocked version, as far as updates you'll have to check and see if there's updates for it from LG, but the big concern would be determining what bands are available with that variant to see if they are compatible with your carrier, you can also check this forum and see if there's updated 996 roms that you could flash to get the latest security patches. But as the previous poster stated as long as you are on 910 rom and using another carrier's sim you'll never get an update from AT&T

Hey there devs and V20 users alike.
As if there wasn't already hesitation enough to root this headache of a phone, and just when I was about ready to take the dive, I received the Oreo OTA update about three weeks ago.
Since updating, I've been enjoying the phone thoroughly.
If I'm going to be honest, this is the first phone I've owned (out of MANY since the Galaxy Captivate S days) that I have been satisfied using without root. It's an absolute multimedia powerhouse. However, little things like the inability to utilize ad blockers, tweak kernels, access root storage, etc. Does bother me now and then, although infrequently.
I'm looking through the forum here, and I'm beginning to think that due to LG's unbelievably long release of oereo, and the difficulty of root, devs have long left this device in the dust.
Unless I'm missing something, is there any rooted Oreo ROM available ATM? I absolutely will not revert to 7.1 again.
Thanks in advance!

please dev, find a way to root my LG V20 F800S Korean version, Oreo. :crying:
In order to get root with Oreo on any model besides the H918, a custom kernel will be needed -- and I don't mean just compiling up the sources from LG.
I am going to try and migrate from my H910 over to one of my H918s .. but that is going to take a bit. Then I will have a phone that can use the eng. bootloader, and can actually start to work on it.

https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/h910-att-lg-v20-stock-oreo-rooted-t3846384
Recently they have found out that to get eng aboot to work with oreo firmware, it was just a simple zip making modifying 2 files.
1. stock aboot changed to common dirtysanta eng aboot
2. stock v20 variant oreo boot changed to magisk patched stock oreo v20 variant boot
We have to keep the recovery as stock recovery so letting the previous twrp get flashed over.
The key is letting the oreo firmware boot up first time with stock recovery and then data will work like normal
Then we boot it up first time and it will get to system and then do quick setup and then go into fastboot (thanks to the eng aboot intact) to push the twrp recovery back to working order again.
So it was just simply doing that instead of using patchd lg up to partition dl to ignore the 3 things : aboot, boot, recovery.
That means eng aboot is still good to be able to use on oreo for all dirtysanta v20s .
I am personally running h910 oreo root with very early build of mk2000 beta 2 oreo kernel. My phone gets full lte data like normal. The battery drain is much improved from nougat while still having the same kind of performance I was used to on rooted nougat.
Asked this on other threads but no answers yet, let me see if I get my answers here
I have a f800l lg v20 not Rooted
Android 7.0
Updated security patch 1st september 2016
Kernel 3.18.31
Build no Nrd90m
Software version F800L 10g
My question is that can I update my Android to Oreo 8.0 which is available via Software update and then gain root access? If no, what is the last update limit for me to not lose rooting possibility. Or is it possible to downgrade to a previous update state after updating it to either Oreo 8.0 or other updated security patch levels? What would you suggest? I've heard Oreo is good with little battery drainage percentage as compared to Nougat which is my primary interest. I don't want to make a move to lose my rooting ability. Are there any other means available to upgrade to oreo without using lg software update in order to achieve both Oreo and root? And if it is not possible to achieve both Oreo and root are there any custom roms or kernels available with good battery drainage percentage? What would suit me the best. Sorry in advance for asking so many questions and not knowing if these questions have already been discussed and answered.
Thank you
Your phone is still ARB 0, so you can do whatever you want.
As for rooting Oreo, now that I know that it expects stock recovery on first boot, I will be posting zips for every model that has a KDZ.
You will need to root your phone first. Since you are on September 2016 patch, use DirtySanta.

by the way, no point in making the zip for h915 oreo.
I have tried with the same new method zip that was made with the 2 modified files + stock recovery.
The h915 modem just doesn't want to work with eng aboot whatsoever just like how it was on h915 nougat rooted.

Perhaps this is something that can be circumvented in the kernel, like runningnak3d was talking about earlier, and like emdroidle did for H990.
I don't know how it works, but I could try enabling the same fix that's used for h990, for h915 oreo.
thank you runningnak3d

Update: I managed to flash twrp via DirtySanta method. I can get into recovery twrp and use it but i haven't flashed SuperSu yet. I can't get comfort view working and the battery is draining relatively fast, So by flashing super su will I get Comfort view and old battery drainage rate back or do I have to do something else? Shall I flash supersu? I get a red triangle mark every time I restart my phone which takes longer than it used to in order to boot, which means I have Bootloader unlocked, can unlocking bootloader ignite problems like long booting duration, inability to use comfort view and fast battery drainage? What do you suggest I do? flash supersu? or relock the boot loader without getting Supersu? Will doing so even fix these problems becasue I planned on rooting to get better battery drainage percentage, instead I get more battery drainage, please help @[runningnak3d]

No. Even if it installs okay some things won't work like espeically modem. So no calls, no data. And it hard to get back to Oreo! So forget it.

Unlike all other V20 models, an LS997 on Oreo is completely locked down and unrootable, so flashing any kind of firmware will brick it.
