Hi guys,
Needless to say, there is a huge difference in the price between the 2 (185 USD where I'm at). I'd like your opinion whether the difference is worth it. What I'm worried about 6T is the fingerprint performance. Is it reliable? For 7T, I like the 90hz screen and better(?) fingerprint performance.
I'm not really critical on the camera. And I think 6t's specs are good enough for my use.
Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!
Go for a 7T,your getting way more,I have the 6T and it's fine, fingerprint is not that reliable but works most of the time but then again do you really need it with face unlock,
Cameras are ok on the 6T but Oneplus have really stepped up with the 7T now,
I would definitely go for a 7T if you can afford it
7T
There is no sense of getting the 6T.
7T has better Display, better storage speed, better camera, better software support because it is newer.
So basically the 7T is better because it is more recent. Also Android 10 is kinda not that stable on the 6T right now.
I say 7T. It's overall better. I have not had any issues on my 6T with Android 10. I suppose I'm just lucky and should be grateful. But the 7T is newer and has better support.
I just bought a 7 pro and have a 6T already, so my situation is different. Yes, get the 7T...but really, it isn't that much better/faster besides the 90hz screen. Honestly, the speed test of a Galaxy S10+ Snapdragon v a OP7T, the Samsung is faster mostly in real life use. That is a 855+ vs a 855 10 month old processor nearly. And the 7T still can't match the S10+ for many things except bootloader unlocking/rooting. Unless you get the Exynos...but they is likely going away as well and moving to Snapdragon.
I like the curved screen/larger size and overall build/feel of the 7 Pro. The 7T is just a 6T nearly identical. Just has a 90hz screen and some improvements. Not much of an upgrade IMO. But over the 6T if buying one...sure, get the 7T. But it will be useless in about 4-6 months because they are going to release an OP8...and let's hope it isn't more of the same...because I don't get their future plans. Unless they are moving to a curved screen, the fast 90hz scrolling (great innovation, everybody is going to use this in the future)...and average camera and etc..not sure...they are turning into HTC if they don't really step up their game with the OP8. They need 6.7" screen, better cameras no doubt..and a slight bump in price most would be fine with along with at least an 865 or better processor...plus 5G to stay relevant IMO.
For the money, yes, don't buy a 6T I guess...but honestly, I just don't see it being worth an upgrade over a 6T personally. And I don't think the 7T is really much of a relevant phone for much longer when Samsung releases and set the bar way higher for Android in two months.
Come March, and my current credits from Verizon being done...probably going to jump ship and maybe move to new S11, it is going to crush everything out there for Android...find some deals on that and get away from crappy Verizon service.
Good luck.
99% of users, would be ok with the 6T. Unless you are into benchmarks or cutting edge games, the 6T is a better bang for the buck.
I've had mine a year, see no reason to ditch it for a new one.

If you want the better phone go for the 7t but if you want a great phone for cheap, buy a like new Amazon refurbished 6t for under $300. I wouldn't buy a new 6t at this point in the game but I got my 6t for $285 from Amazon and I'm super happy.

I have the 6T and the 7 Pro, and theorecally the 7T has the same fingerprint sensor as the 7 Pro, I would choose the 7T just for the fingerprint sensor, the 6T sensor is garbage.
Thanks for the input guys. Definitely helped! I guess I would be going for the 7T when I get the budget for it. Hopefully they run a year end sale!
I've been discussing about buying a pre-owned 6T for a while. Since my budget is around $300 and can get one, I almost decided to buy. But only now I read this thread. This is the second time I'm reading the comments that the camera quality of 6T is not good. Are you all sure that? Even with GCam?
My main priority of buying a phone is if it has a strong development support and the 6T has a lot. But I haven't ever read or heard about the camera quality issue that much. My other option is to go for K20 Pro (it too has best development support) but I don't know how long it'll last. Also how do you compare the camera quality of 6T and K20 Pro?

So, i'm a noob to 1+ devices having got my 6T last November and it being my first 1+ device ever. Overall, I really like the device and it's definitely one of the best I've owned. I just don't feel it has lived up to all the hype. I have two lines and still use my Pixel 2XL and lately I'm finding myself liking my P2XL more than my 6T. Believe it or not I feel like my P2XL is faster and more fluid. Anyone else feel similar? I'm not trying to bash the 6T I'm just curious if anyone else feels like me.
Make sure you're on the latest firmware (9.0.11). The 6T OWNS the Pixel 3, let alone the 2, in just about every area except the camera, which gets better with every update. Give it a real chance, you wont be disappointed.
No regrets here. Absolutely love the 6T. My favorite device I've owned and I've owned plenty.
A little regret because I can benefit from its top specs at all. It doesn't support volte or vowifi in Canada.

I am kind of in similar situation.. I have Pixel 2 XL and bought OnePlus 6T.. Though 6T is faster, I feel my 2 XL is smoother and has better experience overall.. and man 6T kills my apps even after disabling all battery optimizations... I even miss voice calls and WhatsApp calls sometimes... Thinking of returning 6T
I had a P2XL previously and moved to a 6T in November. Unless things have improved lately, I found the 6T to be smoother for me. As stated by others, the only area I think the P2XL was better was in the camera, though I have been quite impressed by the pictures taken on the 6T for its price, especially with recent updates. I know we have the GCam port, but think it's still quite buggy. I would be very happy if somehow the HDR+ algorithm was integrated into the stock camera, though highly unlikely. No regrets here.
The obly regret is camera and camera app. The xamera app is so bad, no video recording options
Overrated imo, Price is too high now for what we get their is better value to be had elsewhere, Mi Mix 3 for example in UK it's the same price, Better Camera sensors/software, Better Display and wireless charging etc. OP3 was awesome for it's low price but OP6T doesn't live up to that, OnePlus hype is over for me probably my last OnePlus device.

Well said. The development for Xiaomi devices has been very good, I think that is what I will try next.
No regrets here either, have owned a lot of phones in the past and this one of the best if not the best. Miss wireless charging but the beast battery last forever.
Only had the 6T for a little over a month. Had the OnePlus one, but did not like it. Too many glitches.
They've improved a bunch. For the price, in my opinion, good bang for the buck!
I've owned a LOT of phones over the years. OP6T ranks right up there as far as I'm concerned.
Regrets? Most phones with this hardware are around 1000 euro. Almost every phone factory gets very greedy.
Well the fact that I got this phone for $280 bucks by trading in my s7 edge, I would say is the best deal for any phone I've ever had except for the HTC amaze which I got for free from staples 5 years ago. I would not have paid 580 as I have a brand new note 8 so it was just a back up. It's my 1st and I think it's nice, better then most at this price point.

Don't forget OnePlus is a budget phone with flagship SoC, Storage/RAM only rest of the phone is just cut corners to keep the cost low.
Do you tend to own phones for more than two years? If not, you'll see the overall value and abilities OnePlus devices tend to offer over other devices in the fragmentation department. My OnePlus 3 was still going very strong and I only updated because I was a sucker for the 6T. But truthfully, I never had an issue with my 3 slowing down or developing faults. I can't say the same for any LG, Samsung, or Motorola devices I've owned. OnePlus failure rates are some of the lowest in the industry, and it's evident as to why if you see videos of their manufacturing process on YouTube (Linus Tech Tips and Unbox Therapy I believe).
Sure, other devices may have explosive features that OnePlus may not always include. But at what cost? For the price, stability, support and power that you get with a OnePlus is unmatched. The 3 is STILL getting updates and works great. But if you're someone who updates regularly, I can see why maybe you'd feel like you're missing out.

You know, I thought the same thing but if you take the time to figure out the software its really not that bad at all. Coming from a Pixel 2 XL, I am content with these photos but it seriously took me some time to get used to the camera. Work on your focus, leave HDR on auto; you will be good.
No regrets here.

I just cant stand those oil painting finish photos. Its app problem because on gcam photos looks much better, more details and no oil paint effect.
And i cannot use the stock camera app for movies. There are no settings or options. No focus lenght, no white ballance, no controls for manual control.
Well, if anyone cares I can say that the 6t has been the most awful phone I have ever owned. I literally now own a $700 brick. And OnePlus the company should be ashamed of themselves. I am fighting to get this phone running. And customer support has gone 100% silent on me. My last call, I got the perpetu-hold by the agent and I hung up after about 30 minutes of waiting for her to "consult a coworker". It's been so bad that I am trying to social shame them. I have a youtube post titled "Why my OnePlus 6T sucks and OnePlus Support is awful". I would link it, but I'm too new on the forum.
It's why I'm now on this forum trying anything I can to get this phone working.

Well... Why did it stop working?
I have shifted from my iPhone 6s to Oneplus 6t. The main reason for the shift to Oneplus specifically in Andorid is the gestures it offers - switching apps, closing apps etc
After 1 month of usage, I believe Oneplus is the phone, if you want to get things done. Its fast, its battery is amazing. The reason why some people get annoyed is because its just too fast and for this reason it doesn't seem fluid. But trust me, using the iphone for years, I did enjoy the fluidic experience, however, I don't like it anymore and prefer speed, performance and battery life and Oneplus delivers on all these aspects. The teardrop notch and in screen fingerprint make the experience even better
Morning all, i have been a long admirer of this phone, I currently have an xperia Xz1, it's been a good phone but starting too look dated now, I just wondering, whether if the 6t is still a good purchase especially with the One Plus 7 around the corner.
Many thanks
Up to you.
If you are in a hurry buy 6T, if not, wait for 7 ( that could be in may).

Thanks, i know what you mean, honestly i think it depends on the price of the Oneplus7 i think that wall decide which phone i will get.
Thanks
If i have a working phone now i will wait for op7.
The price should be around price for 6T. Let's hope they not get greedy..
The OnePlus phone with 5G will be expensive, like 1000$ and useless since we don't have 5g network.

That is true, think i shall wait for the pricing to come out, yes hopefully it will be priced accordingly inline with the 6t , 5g for myself, not needed to be honest.
Thanks again for your input.
I decided after the Galaxy S8+, then S9+, then Note9 it was time for a change. I traded in the Note9 and got a OnePlus 6T and could not be any happier. The galaxy lines are nice, dont get me wrong. But the pure android feel of the OnePlus is much smoother than the Galaxy series.
Samsung does have the better display. Thats undeniable but the OnePlus 6T makes up for it in utter fluidity.

Hey Scott, I was a big fan of your roms for HTC phones, you did great things for those devices. I'm thinkinging about ordering this phone, the only thing that is bothering me is the finger print sensor. How has your experience been so far with the finger print sensor?
If you have an iPhone, how does the scrolling smoothness in apps and the browser compare? Thanks

IM 50/50 on the fingerprint sensor. Its impressive for what it is however not nearly as quick or accurate as a rear mounted sensor.
Scrolling in this on the very latest update (Jan Security patch) is very smooth. I did take off the plastic screen protector because it does take away from the smooth feel and causes a tiny bit of drag with my fingers.
Had really hoped hopes with htc u11 . 1st had a huge bug with Bluetooth/wifi that would boot loop my phone... Not only did htc blame me but I had to pay to replace it twice...2 the stance HTC and all big tech company have with development on their phones.
I'm moving back to OnePlus... I had the 1 and 3 going to wait till 7 comes out later this year... Anyone else leave HTC if so to what company what phone?
I do not have issues with WiFi nor Bluetooth. Both work pretty well for me.
I am not leaving htc. I have had the s8, v30 and op6. The result is that every time I switched back to the u11 I realized how smooth, simple and customizable is sense home and the great quality of the u11 (display, sound, construction, camera...). Oh, edge sense is a great feature that I can not live without.
Right now there is no other device that have all the specs I look for. Maybe the u12+.
Well experience with HTC phones had been good so far. Especially HTC U11 is a great device I am having no such issues.
For others I can tell about Samsung phones since I am personally using Note 8. Samsung has come a long way their software system it is lighter now and less buggier. Hardware always has been good on Samsung.
I'm leaving HTC this year for sure, after complete 2 years with me. No pie so far for u11, among others reasons like I've cracked my screen, paid to HTC themselves to fix, and after that there's no more warranty for the phone and they don't guarantee it stills water resistant.
The u11 is not bad, not at all. Suppresses all my needs, but with this support is complicated.

I've had my U11 since June 2017. It followed a ZTE Axon 7, which followed an HTC 10. I baby the U11 and have been very careful with handling it. I'll keep it until the day I accidentally break it. As others have said, the camera, sound and Edge Sense are what makes this phone so special. Plus, there's nothing as sexy as the Sapphire Blue! Pie or no Pie, it's not a deal breaker for me. Phones nowadays are expensive enough that they're not disposable, - better off holding on to what you have until it doesn't work anymore. HOWEVER, for the sake of answering the question, IF I was going to move on from HTC, I'd get a Galaxy S9 Plus.

I had the HTC 10 before my U11 and thought it was better audio quality, for a start it has a HEADPHONE SOCKET......can you hear me HTC!
USB-C & no headphone socket is really BAD.
My next phone will be OnePlus, had a One and it was brilliant....just shame about no SD-CARD SOCKET....can you hear me OnePlus!
Just wish someone would make a phone that's half decent like these and have SD-Card socket AND headphone socket.
ps. OnePlus are really EASY to re-flash.
Went for pixel 2 xl though still have U11
Second hand U11 is half the price of used Pixel 2 xl in UK which make it good bargain
I ordered a Oneplus 7 pro this weekend and when it comes later this week it will replace my HTC U11. It's been a great device, but the lack of updates has been very disappointing and I might have desided to buy a different phone if I had known HTC's fate ahead of time.
Two years later, my HTC is still going strong, has a better camera (especially combined with the Google Camera ports) than most phones out there.
Only thing that could be a little better is battery life.
I'll wait for a Pixel with multiple camera lenses and 5G connectivity before upgrading this phone - unless the battery performance deteriorates a lot over the coming year.
Well even though the OnePlus 7 Pro is the best Android handset in 2019 thus far, I think I'll instead switch to Pixel 4, maybe Pixel 4XL. There are two reasons: Pixel will have fast updates and less compromises in comparison to OnePlus, as well as the much better camera.

I purchased the Pixel 3a XL because it was so cheap and i have been wanting to feel the Pixel experience since i passed up the 2XL for the U11. This 3a is a great phone. I still find my self using the U11 on WiFi though because it has been an awesome phone. What can i say....been with HTC since the thunderbolt. Pixel experience has been great so far, and unless HTC can shows signs of life i will be taking a serious look at the Pixel 4.
My OP7P turned up yesterday... Seems like quite a nice device. I went the overkill version, 12gb/256gb.
In the hand, its a little heavier and taller than the U11. Camera doesnt compare to the U11 in my opinion (not on stock OP, GCam U11)
Speed! WOW! Not a single slow down for 2 days. But then again, my 6gb U11 was fast enough.
This phone ****s on the P3XL and the Mate 20 Pro which I returned to go back the U11. I dont think ill be returning the OP7.
I dont have the touch screen issues, but im not going to try installing CPU-z to check. (if I have them, im not noticing it so dont want to be looking for it if its there)
If you are happy with the U11 on Lineage or RR etc, then dont bother updating. Its really not that big of an improvement or difference from OOS.
I am getting double the SOT though, so maybe to some it is. Im always near a charger so no issue for me

Thanks for the feedback. Im fighting the update urge within myself ?. Not to op7p but op7 or zenfone 6, or poco f2.
Wrt to camera, only pixel and huawei p30pro is better. Other than that no one can touch u11(gcam) not even s10+. I have used s10+ both EX and SD versions extensively as my wife & bro has it.
I only do web surfing and youtube , social media and NO gaming at all. With this i get 7hrs SOT on wifi and 5.5-6hrs in wifi+lte.
Are you saying it will approx double from u11 with op7p ?
For my usage, high end SOC is not necessary as i dont game at all. However display, camera and battery, good dev support is high on priority. Pixel 3axl in india has been once again insanely priced.

For the past 2 days, I've been getting 8 hours of sot. I don't game and probably have similar usage to your description. I have turned the screen to 60hz and 1080p today to see what the difference is. I'd probably look at the op7 over the others. Although, Xiaomi mi9t looks like it would be a contender too.
One thing to note, bootloader unlock on OnePlus loses widevine L1. If that's of interest to you. Not for me...

I haven't rooted in YEARS. Care to give me a brief synopsis on how to get root/s-off(or atleast get me in the right direction? It would be greatly appreciated! Phone is unlocked, and i use Verizon.
I'm planning to buy a OnePlus but i'm facing a problem I don't know if the OnePlus 7 (not OP 7 pro), it's better than the OP6t, I mean not only processor, I mean everything, cameras, processor, sensores, all in general terms wich one it's better and why?
I think the question is, how much are you willing to spend? Because like you said, the OnePlus 7 is technically "better" in every way hardware-wise. However, if you want to save money, then I think the OnePlus 6t will be MORE than enough for a long, long time. I mean, there are some still using the 3t that are completely happy. I'm currently using the 6t and I'd only consider upgrading for the 7 Pro. The 7 is too similar to me. But I think I'm going to wait until they can improve the fingerprint sensor even more than they already have.
Oneplus 6t was a phone that I saw and fell in instant love. Oneplus 7 is basically the same phone with some additional features like more power-efficient processor (that might mean more screen on time also but I have no information about that), longer support (although oneplus does an amazing job whren it comes to support older devices), and the reason why I would buy 7 if I would buy a phone now is dolby atmos because I am on that kind of music where this small addon makes a huge difference (if that works propertly so let's just forget about digital plus that can be installed on 6t after root because this is not stable ant not even working with some music players like the one I prefer to use).
Camera is a different thing. I say use gcam on both no matter what you buy, the difference compared to the stock software is huge. 48 MP sounds good, but the difference is not so great if you check a side by side camera comparison like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9DD71IzdBA Personally I prefer the 6t's color profile, but when you know what you are doing with the camera, there is pro mode on both and you can set up every single aspect of the image you want to shoot.
There is no answer to "which one is better", both are great phones, specs are specs and OOS is OOS. As it was said before me, both will serve you well for a very long time. The only answer is the one we cannot give to you: which one will fit you better?

A
Op7 doesn't have mirror black.
Plus I bought 6t 8gb ram 128 gb at 28000 Indian rupees intead of op7 6gb ram 128gb at 33000 Indian rupees due to discount sale on Amazon that ends today. (Not sure if it will not continue though)
With 6T having Mirror black and

Op7 is no more a choice.
Leave that 48 mega pixel thingy of op7. It's not exactly like '48 mega pixel!' . It's only marginally better than 6t's 16 mega pixel. The pixels of 48 no are actually small . They don't get much light. So it actually takes 12mp photos with 4 pixels taking different exposure to produce single take HDR.
It's mildly better than 6t. But am not camera freak.
Even OnePlus 7 is actually not a camera freak's phone. Quality Camera sympathizers go for pixel.
So for us 6t camera is fine.
845 vs 855 is 10nm vs 7nm for our point of view .
Slightly better battery life.
But 6t itself is boringly long battery life. Slightly better doesnt count much unless u are facinated by 7nm ... Its actually fascinating because this is where AMD is overtaking Intel. Zen2 Tsmc of AMD are 7nm and they are amazing. Otherwise 10 nm is fine
5000 RS discount on 6T for India in Amazon ends today June 13.
Buy 6T.
I want 7 pro, for the screen. At last Full screen, edge to edge !!!... Don't give a f*** about selfies! So front camera it's usseless for me.
I foud 7 pro on sales forums in my country with 570 euro.
Unless you are a speed freak (benchmarks etc), the 6T is a great phone, and less expensive. Updates (non rooted, official) are coming to
my phone every other month, which is nice. Mainly they are the security patches issued by google, ported to the OP6T. The "extras"
for me, don't mean much...updated this launcher, that app etc, really doesn't matter...I'd prefer they get the security updates on time.
The 7/7Pro is obviously, spec wise "better" but, it's like having a 6cyl car vs a 8cyl car. Both will get you down the road, but the 6T
is less expensive. I'd rather save the money.

Also depends on where you're located. If you live in North America, you can't get the phone unless you import it. Even if you do, it's missing bands 66 & 71 which the 6T has. I use those on T-mobile with my 6T, so the 7 is a no go.

I'm Located in México and my carrier uses Band 4 and 7 for the LTE and LTE +, so, I only need that bands, I don´t know if the bands 66 & 77 are used in other countries for LTE but it's not a problem
My intention it's to buy a CN version of the OP 6t or OP 7, but with Oxygen OS, cause come people says that CN version comes with Hydrogen OS
Future custom Rom support
I have the same question for some weeks now... For me it is super important that the phone has good custom ROM support when there is no support form OnePlus in a few years... I am concerned that the OnePlus 7 is less likely to get official LineageOS than the OnePlus 6T... Because the OnePlus 7 stands in the shadow of the Pro model...
What do you think? Are my concerns valid? Should I better buy the 6T if I want good custom ROMs?

48 MP sounds good, but the difference is not so great if you check a side by side camera comparison like this:
Personally I prefer the 6t's color profile, but when you know what you are doing with the camera, there is pro mode on both and you can set up every single aspect of the image you want to shoot.
There is no answer to "which one is better", both are great phones, specs are specs and OOS is OOS. As it was said before me, both will serve you well for a very long time. The only answer is the one we cannot give to you: which one will fit you better?

Hi everybody,
what do you think is this a real upgrade ?
I'm about buying a OP 7T Pro on eBay, read a lot of threads about WLAN and Bluetooth probs. ....
So wondering if this device is as good as everybody says?

I didn't experience any WLAN and Bluetooth problems, but since you are probably referring to the T-Mobile, I can't answer to that, as I have the Chinese non-5G variant of the 7T Pro McLaren Edition.
About whether buying it or not, I would suggest that you might want to wait for the OnePlus 8 (and 8 Pro) release so that you can get your hands on the latest Snapdragon SoC, along with that long-anticipated stunning 1440p 120Hz screens from Samsung (which are yet to be confirmed if they are compatible of displaying at 1440p and 120Hz at the same time without ditching one another) hardware accelerated real-time motion interpolation for watching videos, so that every youtube videos you watch can be upscaled to 120Hz for ultra smoothness). For now, search up for reviews about Samsung's S20 series. I believe the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro would be quite similar to Samsung S20 and S20+ respectively, except for having lower price tags (of course), better front camera (since Samsung nerfed the S20 and S20+ front camera, so that more people may buy the S20 Ultra), considerably worst camera software (which can be solved by installing ported Gcam), and that OnePlus exclusive motion interpolation technology (which they called MEMC for some reason). The wait may not be long, so I just don't want you to regret about your buying option.
@Kevorex1
thanks for reply ??? sure you are right and happy to hear that you have no problems ???
Maybe the price drops when the OP8 appears, so that I can buy a McLaren Edition at a lower price. The price on eBay is to high for now!!!
I'd go ahead and get the OP7T Pro. I may be bias since I'm considered a OnePlus fanboy. But honestly, I love OxygenOS and think you get a ton for your money.
Don't get me wrong, ROG phones are sick. I haven't owned one, just played around with them, so I guess I don't have the full perspective. But OnePlus has always been considered very good by many, and they retain their value pretty well. I almost kept my OP3 for a fourth year and probably could've pulled it off since the dev community is strong for it (despite the hiccups with carrier issues). But if you're willing to play around with it a bit, I think it's well worth your while.

It's your call if you want to wait for the 8/8pro personally I went for the 7t pro McLaren instead of holding off for the new ones because of leaks are to be believed it's going to have a hole punch display and I'm honestly not a fan of it I can live with a half a generation old SOC and it's already a massive step up from my 6T I had previously.

I'm still baffled that OnePlus would go with the hole punch rather than full display. I know Samsung resonates well with a lot of consumers, and maybe they're trying to go for that same look I just think they are pandering a bit unfortunately.

Nope they go off the design of the previous oppo phone that released if I'm not mistaken as oppo and OnePlus are subsidiaries of a bigger company (BBK electronics?) If I'm also not mistaken the base for the 7pro and 7T pro is the Oppo (edit: a mix of the vivo nex s and find x my apologies) and OnePlus just went with that. It's also been theorized why they ditched the headphone jack on the 6T because it was based off an Oppo phone that had also ditched the headphone jack. If I had to guess the Oppo Reno 3 might be the base design for the 8 and 8pro and OnePlus will work with that.

I guess that makes sense. Considering OnePlus. I forgot that Oppo make it possible for OnePlus to have less expensive devices by using existing chassis and designs. Still... Kinda frustrating. But I guess there's only so much you can do when Oppo copies other companies' designs. But you're right. Can't blame OnePlus for that.

Hey if they can make a pretty dope phone and undercut Samsung flagships by a couple of hundred dollars resusing an oppom phone as a chasis I'll take it

Pretty sure most 2020 flagship designs are being influenced by Qualcomm's decision to not integrate the modem in the SD865 and basically force 5G since the X55 is the only compatible external modem (even if you only want 4G). Means a ton of extra space needed for 5G antennae and modem (that most people won't use) so you don't have space for a mechanical pop up camera, and increased battery usage. Which is why I got the 7T pro instead of any 2020 phone. And yes BBK electronics owns multiple Chinese companies that share resources, so the phones often look pretty similar. All the same supply chain and components. Very few companies can actually make phones in other ways, like the Purism Librem 5.
I'm still considering returning the 7T Pro and using my old 3T. The curved edges are really annoying.

I'm not a huge fan of the curved glass either. But I love every other aspect of my phone. I'd traded my OP3 in for the 6T at T-Mobile since they had a super deal going for it at the time. And from there, I became a sucker for the 7 Pro and then 7T Pro ??
