S10 ROM on S10+? - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

So basically,
we downloaded different ROM while we were wanting to flash S10+ with Stock firmware (blocked by Poland company). We downloaded SM-G973F, So my question is: Can se flash it with that?
If not, I would like to hear why.
Thanks!

I wouldn't recommend it. It may cause problems or it may not even work at all.

It wont work. Both normal odin and patched wont allow it. And even if you did manage to flash it it wouldn't have the correct drivers for the display and probably would never boot. Which firmware version are you trying to flash? I can probably mirror it on Mega tommorow.

SM-N915W8 Canadian NOTE EDGE

Hey just got my edge today, looks like there is very little going on as it was just released a few days ago despite it being out in the states for quite some time, the only difference I believe is the LTE in the Canadian version.
Anyways, coming from the note 2, 3 and 4 and the trtlecan version always being close to the trtletmo I decided to risk it and flash the tmo cf auto root and recovery despite there being no stock firmware laying around on sammmobile the others..
annnd I'm happy to report that I now have a TWRP recovery, rooted, SM-N915W8.
go ahead and follow the very detail steps in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-edge/general/easy-steps-stock-odin-n915tuvu1anjl-sm-t2943993
MAKE SURE TO READ THE PART ABOUT IT FAILING (to flash cwm) AND THAT BEING OK being flashing TWRP
and then the BRIGHTNESS SETTINGS inside recovery which will look like you have sleep lock if you don't fix them before letting the screen timeout
and have all 4 files on hand before you start!
Awesome, thanks for the info, I was debating it but just was being a chicken. I'm glad everything worked out. Did you make a nand? If so did you flash the nand just to make sure everything was OK? Are your root apps working without issues.? I don't mind taking the risk...just wanna be sure

I Too have a rooted SM-N915W8 (BELL VERSION but im on TELUS)
Thank you for your insight @gundal
Awesome glad it worked out for you too, now we can experiment with which kernel and os will boot without fear of bricking
Yes, I tried reflashing the backup and all is good.
Hyperdrive didn't work even with restoring our boot sector (kernel)

Haha, i was reading through and just found it funny.
Glad you guys are having luck with the Canadian model. I jumped the gun and imported one from Korea as soon as it was released and it's an awesome device!
Enjoy!
Were you guys able to flash a custom ROM? Which ROMS will work with the Canadian version? And which US Model number is 'equivalent' to the Canadian one?

Anyone try any T-Moble stuff? I didnt look myself but I ask because we all used the tmoble stuff for our old Canadian Note3s ... could be the same senerio. I think that Tmoble kernels should work..
There might be a version of Hyperdrive for tmoble..

What recovery are you using cause Im on twrp and I cant make a backup, cache partition cant be mounted either, are you having this prob too?....
Dont worry about it, someone else who had this problem fixed it by formatting cache - did that and everything went fine.

Tried flashing Hyperdrive Edge for T-Mo with both twrp (2.8.1.1) and cwm (6.0.5.1 Xiaolu) referenced in the root guide by OP. They flashed without error but I got bootlooped both times. Luckily backup/restore works for both recoveries.
Does anyone know of a way to get back to stock recovery after flashing cwm or twrp? Any known location of a stock image?

Go to sammobile web site...download the original firmware for your model and flash it. When u flash original firmware everything will be back to stock including recovery..and you will be able to receive ota update. To flash stock firmware...just use odin. Search this forum for instruction on how to flash using odin.

Yeah I know about sammobile, flashing via Odin etc. There's no stock firmware uploaded for the Canadian variants yet so I was wondering of an alternate method to flash the stock recovery. I tried extracting the recovery from the stock image via ADB shell, converting to tar.md5, then flashing with Odin but it failed....likely because I'm rooted. Guess I'll have to wait until the firmware gets uploaded. Thanks anyway.
Try contacting the sammobile team...and their forum..they maybe able to help..

Not yet. I check daily. I'm hoping someone will be able to capture it via Kies when Lollipop rolls out. It's only matter of time before sammobile gets it.

Arg, that really bites. Now I have a new phone I cant use at all. You'd think the firmware would be released when the phone was. Have you tried the other roms? I can't even gwt onto my internal sd to put them on the phone so I can try installing them. So frustrated.

The TM-320s are at the following. You need to filter by country. The standard U.S. firmware is under "Cellular South (XAR)":
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-T320/
Do note that Lollipop just started rolling out to the Tab S series. Hopefully that's a sign that the Tab Pro Lollipop isn't much farther off.
I'm not able to download any firmware from the SamMobile site. Can anyone provide me with a firmware? I don't care about the region or anything since I'll be flashing CM right after that (my device is soft-bricked, and I need to flash stock firmware with Odin). If someone can either mirror a firmware or share it with me, I'd greatly appreciate it
Would flashing this firmware remove the KNOX triggered flag.
I.e. if I flash it, can I return it to the shop and Samsung for repair?
EDIT: Yes, it removes KNOX
I have problems during the boot of the tablet
I've followed all the steps but when i've finally used odin, my tablet doesn't power on, it stays at samsung, st 320 or something like that and I can't go further. Also it only shows all that stuff when it is pluged in the pc.
I really don't know what to do, so could anybody help me please???

Knox flag will still be 1 once it's triggered it's forever...........don't let anyone tell you diffrent......some people say after they sent it in for service and a Samsung service center Knox was back to 0 but don't know if that was ever verified....

I don't think that's possible unless you have a pre-rooted or custom rom that you are flashing thru Odin. If you flash the newest firmware it will wipe out your root and custom recovery and you start all over.

Canadian Variant 928W8 stock firmware

Any one knows when it will be available? My phone has been FRP locked, so need it urgently to unbrick my phone... Thanks!!
Sam mobile usually has all the firmwares available to download as Odin packages. If not I could probably do a factory reset, make a twrp backup and upload it for you? You'll of course need to root/install twrp following all the guides here for that to work though.
I don't know if you're looking for a stock ROM or not. Honestly haven't read much about the FRP lock, haven't even bothered flashing my Edge+ yet (also W8 variant, which is weird for me, first android I haven't flashed.. ). Anyway, there is THIS in the T-Mobile section (rooted+deodexed though).
Hmm... the problem is that I cannot even boot into recovery mode as this stupid FRP is blocking every custom recovery/kernel/ROM.... Only the stock firmware would help to unbrick the phone...

Thanks for the link, but it is not the stock firmware so that it won't help in my case. FRP basically blocks any recovery/kernel/ROM other than stock version. Please please please always keep in mind to check"OEM unlock" in developer option before doing factory reset on a custom ROM, in particular we are using W8 variant, that Samsung hasn't released the stock firmware... In other words, there is no way to unbrick the phone once it is FRP locked.
Anybody manage to find this? I need the stock firmware now too :\
Is it true that the battery doesn't charge after it's FRP locked? So the missing W8 firmware even if it comes eventually when the battery is dead the phone is dead? How in the hell are we supposed to fix this with no firmware available on sammobile?! Is there really no other way? Who has the firmware? Do the carriers have it?
Samsung Firmware has stock firmware for the W8 variant (full ODIN tar files), both OGD and the new OK5. I've been checking sammobile daily, and nothing (even at the time of this post).. Just thought I'd post in case some were not aware..

there are 2 possibilities about flashing g900f firmware on your g900v:
1) it will refuse to flash
2) you will hardbrick
as I said earlier, please flash this to check whether your bootloader is locked or unlocked.

The G900F has an unlocked bootloader - the G900V does not. If it does flash, you can root if you want. If it doesn't flash - all your stuff will still be there.

I would NOT attempt to unlock the bootloader, just use FlashFire, unless you want AOSP. Try flashing a G900F rom on yours. I don't see why it would not work

I wanted to know you you could wip up a quick tutorial or steps for us . I can tell its really simple and easy. but once we unzip the firmware wont it then lose the md5 has and signature. of are the 5 files inside also signed.

Since they are all official and signed files I would assume that this would not trip knox. But I can not verify for sure. Also I thought knox checks to see if the boot loader is unlocked.
I have another question. with an unlocked boot loader don't we still have the problem of dm-verity being enabled that would stop use form flashing mods and roms.

The main thing that *most* people want is the U firmware. Also, I'm not really sure exactly what knox does other than to not trip it.

If this works, this would be amazing. I don't want root, I don't want to even unlock my bootloader, I just want to put the U firmware on my T-Mobile S7.
Not to get off topic but what's the big deal about the u firmware is it Universal or is it unbranded with a lot less bloat. Or additional features?

It is unbranded, let's you uninstall bloat apps completely, and unlocks most us bands.

First, flash ENG boot in the AP. Then, go back immediately and flash the CSC CP and AP of the ROM of your choice. Simple, easy, DOWNGRADE COMPLETE!!!

Have you successfully done this and does that not mean that downgraded bootloader is also unlocked. Or that we could flash another models bootloader to to the s7 edge

"Yes, you can downgrade APG1 to APD8!!!!!" pd8 i guess is bootloader v3. if he downgrade to bp8,this thread thread will be on fire!!!
I'm pretty sure pd8 is v3 bootloader also. Shouldn't be any issues downgrading pg1 to pd8 regularly, both same version bl.

but maybe op in our tread found a way @lincolnsxda
So guys, I've goy APD8 and have downloaded the update but haven't installed. Is there any way I can delete the update file, it's taking up space. Also why is the new updste so bad?

I'll be happy to try on the next couple days, but I'm having a hard time finding a good link to the U firmware that doesn't require payment. Anyone have a link?

It is not bad, but comes with a later bootloader which can limit some options.
