when some one tests this can they please do a video to prove if it works, also can we flash CSC that does not factory wipe the phone. also I don't remember for sure but isn't the U firmware bootloader 2 the international version with the unlocked bootloader?
I wanted to know you you could wip up a quick tutorial or steps for us . I can tell its really simple and easy. but once we unzip the firmware wont it then lose the md5 has and signature. of are the 5 files inside also signed.

Yep, if this works then the OP is a genius who's name will live on in the T-Mobile s7 edge forum. People will be able to flash the U firmware again. Can someone also verify that knox doesn't get tripped?

Since they are all official and signed files I would assume that this would not trip knox. But I can not verify for sure. Also I thought knox checks to see if the boot loader is unlocked.
I have another question. with an unlocked boot loader don't we still have the problem of dm-verity being enabled that would stop use form flashing mods and roms.

The main thing that *most* people want is the U firmware. Also, I'm not really sure exactly what knox does other than to not trip it.

If this works, this would be amazing. I don't want root, I don't want to even unlock my bootloader, I just want to put the U firmware on my T-Mobile S7.
Not to get off topic but what's the big deal about the u firmware is it Universal or is it unbranded with a lot less bloat. Or additional features?

Have you checked if your region received it through:
Xpericheck.com
Or:
Fwchecker.com
You can download the ftf with Flashtool that got Xperifirm included. It fixes everything automatically, the only thing you have to do is downloading it and afterwards flash it. Even if your region hasn't received you can give another region a go, but I wouldn't recommend it, because the mobile network is customized in each different firmware region

Don't think so. I heard that the bootloader is different in PD8. Can't hurt to try though, right?
let me know if you can I would like to downgrade to PD7 so I can flash SM-G935U since it is also U2
---------- Post added at 06:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:54 PM ----------
You can try flashing the ENG BOOT then downgrading it to PD8
Yes its possible. Go to the firmware thread and download the pd8 firmware and extract it. Open Odin and put each file in it's respected place (file that starts with ap in the ap slot, CSC in the CSC slot etc) and then flash. After reboot you should be good to go. Warning though, make sure you have everything backed up somewhere else though because it will wipe your entire internal data.

We're out of luck until the SM-G935U's bootloader is updated.
Apparently T-Mobile is the only one pushing out the new bootloader. ATT & Verizon can still flash SM-G935U firmware.

Probably stuck, but you should still be able go between the latest U and V firmwares. I am giving up on a non engboot root method. Sammy signed that kernel so it should always flash and permit root. But, that's not a well educated guess...

Oh ok, well hopefully it boots right up. lol So I really haven't been into rooting and flashing roms for awhile now so Id thought I give it a try on this phone. What would you say would be best for performance/stability/battery life as far as roms go? Or do you just stick with stock? i do not do a whole lot on my phone and I also don't really use much of the features that came along with the s7 edge. i just use it for light gaming/social media/picture taking. So I guess what I am asking is what is your recommendation?
Successfully flashed from G955USQU1AQEF to G955U1UEU1AQE3 using this method.
1. Backup your data. I found out the hard way that the ENG_BOOT.tar will reset the phone (I know... noob mistake).
2. Reboot into download mode and use the modified Odin to flash ENG_BOOT_G955U.tar under BL.
(I rebooted after this and went through the setup... Im not sure if you have to, but I know it will work if you do)
3. Reboot back into download mode and flash the G955U1UEU1AQE3 files in their appropriate fields.
(I didn't use the HOME_CSC, and everything seems to work great!)
I take no credit for the existence of these files.
Enjoy!

I think this is just a Engboot. Not a root method with Engboot. Just Engboot.
@Lmax579 @hazmad
There is no root or bootloader unlock, it's just the engineering bootloader. The only useful thing that I have found is that it allows you to flash the G955U1 firmware. It may allow for downgrading, but just attempting what I already did was enough risk for now... Maybe I'll try it at one point.

Right, we don't have the ability to flash zips until BL unlock is achieved.

Yup, I'm taking the progress. Thanks though
So do you have to use the Engineering Kernel to switch firmware versions now?
I thought you could just flash the U1 firmware using the modified Odin if you wanted to.

It doesn't have carrier bloatware, and enables tethering for other carriers. Possibly quicker updates, because there would be no wait for the carrier to release it, not positive on that tho.

But do you have to use ENGBOOT to flash the Unlocked firmware?
Before the last update you just had to use modified Odin from the other thread.
