Screen replacement. - Moto G5 Plus Questions & Answers

My device has a serious crack on the bottom of the screen, the LCD module and the fingerprint sensor are fine, but it's having ghost touches on that area after a few weeks of use with the crack.
I need to know if there's any difference in sensor placement or size between the G5 Plus and the G5, because I can find a glass replacement online for the regular version and I'd like to know if it's the same glass or it wouldn't work.
Thanks beforehand.

You can use g5 glass on g5+ as the screen size is different and maybe connection too, you can consider replacing the screen by visiting service center as it need OEM parts to function properly.

Touch screen and lens seperate or 1 piece?

I'm planning on fixing my g1 myself since my screen is cracked, but the issue here is the touch functions still work as they always did, its just that the screen is cracked.
are there two seperate pieces? Like the actual touch screen and the LENS?
yea it's called a digitizer (on the top) and a lcd (under the digitizer).
Which 1 is the part that cracked?
Reason i ask is because i saw someone selling a water damaged g1 and if its just the lense itself that can be replaced ill do that

Cracked screen replacement.

I have the LG Nexus 4 and my screen was cracked recently. I dropped it while jogging. The screen still turns on and the touchscreen works (only where there are not any cracks), so everything appears to be working still. I have been shopping around for screen replacements but there are so many options and the prices vary so much that I am not sure which to buy. I am looking for the cheapest option of course. I do not mind replacing the screen on my own. I have found prices ranging from $30 to $300. Most are in the $100 range.
I watched a video on youtube on replacing it and they showed the replacing of the front of the phone. Is that what I need? The entire front end of the phone (screen and digitizer) or is there a cheap way of replacing the glass only? If you could, could you please reply to this with any feedback/tips and perhaps links to some good replacements from reputable only companies? I would appreciate it.
Here are a couple that I found, though I do not know if this would be enough.

This is for the glass screen only.

Since you have seen and maybe researched many screens, can you please tell me which ones the most non reflective, yet budget friendly?
The biggest problem I face is that my screen is too reflective and seeing things in harsh sunlight is almost impossible with screen gamma / color /whatever it is tuning

The easier method is to replace the whole front panel which is also the most expensive. If you're thinking about replacing the glass only, you'd require to heat the glass from the display just to remove it because the whole thing is bonded by glue. Furthermore, I'm not sure myself whether the glass that they sell has it's digitizer with it because if I'm not mistaken, N4's glass is fused with the digitizer with (the zero-gap thing). I personally recommend replacing the whole front panel since it's way easier.

[Q] Screen replacement costs for Moto G4 Plus

Hi everyone
My Moto G4 Plus fell down recently and cracked the screen. Any idea on how much the replacement costs for the screen would be?
Thanks in advance
If you're in India, going by the listed price for last year's Moto G 3's listings for ONLY the GLASS screen is about ?1200-1400 on average across most online sellers. However if the damage is more extensive, and you'd need the replace the digitizer as well, most listings suggest about ?2000-2500 which mention LCD+digitizer assembly.
Given moto g4 got launched only a few months ago, you would have it under warranty. At one time Moto had officially offered a one time free replacement for its entire E, G and X range in a few markers, probably two years ago. But not sure if your specific purchase entitles you to damage protection, considering there is no such announcement in Indian market atleast.
Going by my own experience with a broken screen iPhone some years back, I'd suggest getting repair and replacement done through only the manufacturer, the only expense should be the replacement screen, warrant would entitle you to free service. In my case I'd tried saving on Apple's expensive spares and service, and ended up with a dead screen as the generic substitute was not capable of sealing the display as needed.
Here's a really helpful explanation about the three display components found on LCD touchscreen phones from an old iPhone forum, which helped me establish what was actually broken on my iPhone:
The screen is the glass on the front of the iPhone that you touch. It has the opening of the ear speaker at the top, and the opening for the home button at the bottom. It is real glass, is what usually cracks when you drop an iPhone. It looks like the entire front of an iPhone. It is just over half a millimeter (0.6 - 0.7 mm) thick clear glass with the top and bottom areas painted black.
The next layer is a thick layer of adhesive which bonds the front glass to the digitizer.
The digitizer is glass and interprets your finger touch movements so you can use the iPhone. The digitizer is just a bit larger in area than the picture size, you see when you use the iPhone.?*
The third component going in, is the LCD which is the video display screen, this displays the picture you see. The LCD size is nearly the size of the picture you see.

i enquired a local repair shop. He quoted me @ 40 for display.
in aliexpress you can found the display+digitizer for 50 USD... and there are a lot of tutorials on youtube to change the display...
with the moto G3 it was expensive and hard because the display was stick to the rest of the phone with a lot of glue.... this is not the case with the moto g4

Glass replacement by myself

Hello everyone,
My screen cracked since a year...it wasn't a big deal and it's not too visible since it is a little rift holding the lower side of the screen, but it's esthetically annoying.
I found this on Amazon: https://www.amazon.fr/3021-Premium-réparation-Oleophobic-sm-g386-g935-F-prédécoupées/dp/B06Y5FCZ57.
So I wonder if I could replace the glass by myself...
What do you think about that?
Thanks in advance for your help.
I'm going to go out on a limb and tell you most certainly not. The edges on this phone make it extremely fragile and to be honest id leave it alone if it's still working.
Its easier to replace the whole LCD screen because you need professionnal items to grab it without breaking your LCD, i know that the prices are not the same but its the best solution if you want to do it yourself.
Here is my experience with replacing the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus screen.
So I bought this phone with a cracked screen (digitizer working) on eBay.
I got it and was not able to find any videos on YouTube for S6 Edge Plus, but found lots of videos for the S6 Edge glass replacement.
I thought to myself, well it should be similar. The only difference is that the S6 Edge is smaller in size.
Well, what can I say. I was so wrong.
1- I was able to remove the glass without any issues.
2- I was surprised to see something that totally DOES NOT look like the S6 Edge digitizer underneath (see attached pictures).
Usually, on the other Galaxy phones, you end up with all the glue residue on the digitizer and you start scrapping it off like they show you in videos.
With this digitizer, the glass came off surprisingly easy and NO glue residue was left on the digitizer.
What really shocked me was the digitizer itself.
This is made of something that you can bend and twist without it cracking (see attached pictures).
As you can see, I did bend it but it did not crack at all.
So, I went on the hunt to see what type of digitizer did Samsung put in this phone.
Until this posting, I was not able to find any information.
If anyone has any info to share, please post it here.
I'm really curious to know.
By the way, I think I damaged the digitizer while I was removing the glass because I'm not getting a display any more.

Tempered glass without actual holenon it

Just bought 10plus... any tempered glass without a hole in market? I dont care for finger print reader... if anyone got a good tempered glass kindly post link.. thank you so much.
Double posting please delete, my bad.. thanks
I feel you.
I've had the same issues with urethane etc ones as well.
The reason they're like that is because it will cause optical issues with the front cam.
I don't care about selfies so some refraction, cmos reflections etc don't concern me.
At the end of the day finding the best screen protector that fills your needs is more important than that bloody cam hole.
If you can find one without sacrificing other needed parameters, fine. If not don't sweat it as the hole causes little trouble normally in well design protective cover.
The wet apply Gorilla IQ Shield has one and even on this 6 month old screen protector it's adhering perfectly around said hole.
It's time to replace it now and the hole was no issue at all in my case.
Been an alinsea tempered glass fan, for they have been good and great price. Puppy knocked onto floor so need a new one. Kinda changed search words for protector and have found Akcoo screen protector. Getting about same reviews as alinsea. Someone always has to degrade. Guess I will find out and let ya know.
So 3 screens. No hole camera cutouts no fingerprint locations. You are thinking...junk. I have posted pictures after on. Review...Love It No camera holes no fingerprint set area and nice side to side edge meet screen Most screens once hole set to camera you have a gap between screen and phone case. Not now. Once on, set, fits nice. Was paying 9.99 for one. Now you get 3 clear screens and all accessories. 16.99. No complaints. If you don't here from me. No problems. Watch video and cover plus lightly push fingerprint area while using light. Fingerprint works phenomenal!
