Dell Venue 8 Pro - running without battery? - Windows 8 General

Hi all,
Any way/hack to run the Venue 8 pro 5830 (2gb/32gb from around 2014) without a battery?
Its not because my battery is bad. I want to run it without one.
I did open it and removed the connector but it didnt boot. I got the orange led.. so I reconnected it.
Any tricks to make it work?
Thanks

Hello!

Dell Streak battery fits DVP?

Hey guys - I posted this in the accessories thread, but didn't get any responses. Re-posting here in the hopes that someone knows the answer to this.
Does anyone know if the Dell Streak's battery (available on Dell.com) fits in the DVP?
It's rated at 1530mAh (vs. 1400mAh on the DVP), but same voltage. The model numbers are different, but it seems to be the same size/design as the DVP battery. Would love to know if anyone who has a Streak & DVP have used their Streak battery in the DVP. And if so, can the DVP back-cover be used with the Streak battery?
Here's the link to the Streak battery: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...noteSearch&baynote_bnrank=12&baynote_irrank=0
Did you ever try the streak battery? I could use a little extra power in my DVP.
I would like to know Also...
You can try to ask Dell(Chat) If the battery would Fit in the DVP, Let us know how it goes...
Battery Capacity
I didn't get a chance to try dell chat, but looked in the EM menu and my battery show a capacity of 1566. No label, but looks like mAh. If that is correct the stock battery is better than the streak.
To check capacity and % remaining
open EM -> RD Test -> enter *#6336# -> Power Management -> Battery
Any confirmation on if this battery fits the DVP? This 1400 mAh battery isn't cutting it.
Anyone know of any more powerful batteries that can we swapped into the DVP for added performance? And I mean the same size, not those ones that are double the size.
Thanks guys.
mine shows 1596 for full capacity. does the remaining capacity refer to the power remained in the battery or that it's like the current capacity vs. designed capacity on laptop batteries?
Hi. I have both the Dell Streak and the Dell Venue Pro and I'm sorry to say the Streak's battery is physically larger and wouldn't fit the Venue Pro.
venue's fits dvp.....
venue & venue pro used the same type
if you know Chinese, goto here ,have a look

Obviously you didnt look at the title of this thread, we are talking about the dell streak working with a dell venue pro. Not a Dell Venue working with a dell venue pro
so the answer is....... ?

Battery Interconector Pin Configuration

As we all know, batteries of a modern smartphone such as the Mi Note 2 are using battery interconnectors plugged on the mainboard to supply power and thermal statistics to the motherboard.
Well one day I had the idea to trash the battery and use a laboratory PSU, and later a custom bcd, to power my phone instead. I know that some of you are thinging "why whould anyone do such a stupid thing?!", don't worry I'll answer this question at the end of this post.
Anyways the problem is that I have no idea about following things:
1. In which order to read the pin config?
1 2 3 or 1 3 5
4 5 6 /\ 2 4 6
2. Which potential needs to be at each pin, sure P+ = 2200mV and P- = -2200mV but I have no idea on what to do with T, ID, and J1.
I couldn't find any documentation for battery interconnectors configurations on Google whatsoever, so I am here asking and hoping you guys are smarter than the world wide web.
That's it, in case you're interested in what the heck am I doing to my phone: The display of my Mi Note 2 broke and I - for various reasons - have already bought a new Mi Mix 2. Having no other use for the phone I completely disassembled it, 3D printed me a custom case to hold the components (at a friend's), and made a custom copper cooling block for the motherboard (using the CNC machine of a local company) which I solded onto an older PC cooler I had laying around. Using a USB-C dongle my phone's hooked up to an display and got some regular USB ports. Now the problem I have is, that I cannot charge my phone while providing display output, so I want to replace the battery with a live power supply.
Here are photos of the problem child
Dude... I have no idea of how solving your problem and I hope you made it somehow. Just wanted to ask if you still around if you have any idea what model of battery is. My own is giving me around 5 hours (3 years old) and I was thinking about buying a new one from China (I know, perfect time to do that). Would you recommend that?
@GSaraza,
hello! I had to change my MI Note 2 Battery. It`s from 2016 Manufactored to a younger one from 2018.
The "old" Battery are not Bad, if you want it write a PM.
Bye

OP8 Pro - New owner future-proofing advice

So I got one of these for the wife this Christmas. She's upgrading from an Oppo F1 and I can't wait to see the look on her face.
She'll likely be using this phone for the next 4 years, so what steps can I take to make sure it lasts that long?
1. Change to a slow charger to prolong battery life. Keep charge between 20 and 80%. Maybe undervolt the GPU so it doesn't overheat.
2. Screen and camera lens protectors. Any experience with these impacting usability?
3. Find a way to install Lineage OS when security updates for OOS dry up. Without the faff of losing data and having to restore from backup.
4. Any other recommendations?
Point 3 is the trickiest. I've read the horror stories with the lpddr4 vs 5 mixup.
I've heard OOS13 is running smoother, so probably will leave it for now. But is there anything I can do now to make the switch to LineageOS easier in the future?
Wife won't let me touch the phone if I say there will be data loss and have to restore from backup.
She'll just end up using an unsecure phone, like with her current Oppo.
Anyway, can't wait to hear your thoughts. Much appreciated
