Help with my broken USB data port. How make a DEBLOAT? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Questions & Answers

I have broken the USB port. :crying:
After getting wet, just charging, it does not connect to the computer or OTG.
In this situation, how could I make a Debloat?
Maybe with some command in the Terminal application?
I would settle for that.
I don't even think about doing ROOT or installing a custom ROM...
Thanks

Sad to say but you won't know how bad the water damage is until you can get the phone apart and inspect/ swap out the part.
Hopefully the water only damaged the port and nothing else was effected.
I recommend that route before you start messing around with terminal etc

Thank you ... the damage is well confirmed.
I have been using it for a month in these conditions.
Everything else works fine.
Now I would like to at least clean (debloat) the original rom.
The problem now is... how?

USB Port broken?

Has anyone elses USB Port broke?
Mine won't charge anymore, it wiggles like crazy. It sucks that I just rooted. I'm unrooting now so I can bring it into Sprint. They said if it's a Warranty issue they will replace it for free. I have just heard horror stories about the build quality and screens getting worst, more light leakage and screen separation. I have minor light leakage, but no screen separation.
If I do a NAND backup, reroot the new phone and then install the backup, will it work or will it be tied to hardware?
EDIT: Before it was charging, now it isn't. Hopefully I can connect it to my PC so I can unroot it.
I have the same issue with the charging/USB cord that came with the phone. The spare micro USB cord that I keep at work isn't like this, however. Before you replace the phone, make sure it isn't the cord.

I unrooted it, found the stock rom in zip form and moved it to the SD card. It still has my custom name instead of sprint on there I did with CDMA Workshop (oops!) They sent me to the repair facility 20 miles away, took a look at it and the USB Port completely snapped. They gave me some batteries and I'm waiting for my replacement.
Can't charge or mount... Going to see if I can reroot and put setcpu on there so I can underclock and set the screen to lowest to hold me over for awhile.
EDIT: Dang, flashing stock unrooted it. Oh well.
I toasted my micro usb port last night. Working on repairing it currently. The port it's self is DONE. Ordered a new one, but have already cleaned up the board in preparation.
It sucks working in such small areas. It really really does.

Just solder it back on?
Has anyone returned their Evo? Is it true they just want the phone and I can keep the charger/battery? If so I'll be happy Just sucks that my phone is now unrooted and I need to let two batteries last until the next few days.
Anyone nandbackup to a different device? I did a titanium backup + nandroid before I restored my phone. Hopefully I can either nandroid the new phone and be set, or worst case reroot and titanium restore.

The port is too hosed up to just solder it back on. I tried w/ rework station, and I tried manually.
Just too much damage to the port casing that I can't straighten out....

Take it back, it's under warranty. I flashed stock and then went to the Sprint store. I'm just pissed that this, the screen & light leakage issue are wide spread.
Mine was fine, a little light leakage with no screen movement. I hope the new one is a new build and fixed. If I get a different/worst screen I'll be pissed.

Sprint will have nothing to do with any warranty. The phone was fine until the usb port pulled out. Sprint is also not my carrier, and i've since modded the phone's hardware. I'm in the process of making the 4 buttons on the bottom light up blue. I've got the LEDs prepped, I just need to figure out which way they go on It's my "production" phone, so I can't really have a lot of downtime on it, either.
I've got a really dirty hack on it right now to keep it charged, but it's got wires coming out of it lol. My poor phones on life support
I have a problem with mine too now, I swear that micro USB is the worst thing that happened for technology
10000 connects/disconnects is a complete lie
Sent from my EVO using XDA App
My usb port is also "wiggly" I believe its just a matter of time before it goes to ****ake.
Theres another thread about it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=717204
too bad they cant be merged.. but i think this thread should be closed since it has less information.
I have a feeling this problem is going to become very common amogst the EVO's... its like HTC is turning into the Toyota of phones

user gone mad: USB got off

Hey guys!
Today i got my hands on curious thing. My friend was drunk "as he stated" and somehow he was able to tore off USB port from his beloved HD2. Crazy right, I didnt even believe it was possible as I am an owner of HD2 myself. So Im thinking about maybe try to solder it back together (if possible).
There are some pictures as attachements so you can take a look. The casing isnt damaged at all, its like that USB just fell of.

Connector seems burnt, just curious what you'll find inside... If the mainboard look like this that's bad news.
A new connector is cheap but there are different shapes of the inner part so it is possible that it won't fit, check before you begin to solder.
Looks badly burnt to me.
I suspect mainboard no good for repair but worth checking first.
Quite easy to pick up an EU version HD2 for around 40USD (faulty handset) on eBay if can spend a bit of time looking/bidding and in good shape except digitizer, then simply donor best parts to complete one working rebuild.
Hey thanks for replyin! Well I opened it up and it seems motherboard isnt damaged. Well, as far as I can tell . Phone is working with charged battery without problems, so I think its worth a shot. Take a look and tell me what do you think

hey buddy, thanks I will be really carefull. I cant really tell you what good is a phone like this without USB connection (and dont forget charging), so this is "operation: must do". Sorry for your HD2 though.
You can pick up a new usb socket from eBay/amazon etc.
It is quite a tricky bit of small soldering & can be very hard if contact points on board are broken below board.
Worth a try but not easy ... If you do succeed, once tested working ok use PU40 adhesive sealant to pack around sides & back of socket as will insulate & help secure socket hopefully helping reduce chance of fracturing joins or dislocating completely again.
Yup! USB is already on the way. Thanks for tips buddy, I will check back here when its done , it should take few days untill new USB is here.

SM-G900F - Unknown Problems

Well friends, I am very desperate and would like all possible assistance to solve my problem.
Good day today started hot and then decided to go on the beach. I went into the water with the Galaxy S5 okay, until there ok.
Almost now decided to make a link and realized I was not running the speaker (only worked if I put the headset or loud speaker) Well with that I was not too worried, I thought it was just a bug and try to fix when I got home .
Returning home, I put the phone to charge and see that not load, try to put into my nootbook to load and has an error saying "USB device not recognized"
Unaware of these Bug / Errors not know what it is it indeed tried to restore the phone and still nothing. I'm charging the battery on a universal charger and I will try to reset the ODIN method.
Good friends, if someone more expert in maintenance can help me.
Sorry for some mistakes, my english sucks :crying:

that's hardware symptoms, no odin is going to solve them. water-proof and water resistance are two different things, I would not recommend anyone to use it under (salty) water unless you can afford a new one. water resistence for me means you can use it under the rain, not underwater

I also wouldn't recommend using ODIN without the USB connector problem correctly fixed otherwise you risk yourself a hardbrick. Flashing new software won't remove the salt neither the humidity/water

Sorry to hear about your problems. A few comments, not very different than the poster above me.
The IP57 rating that the S5 has is for water resistance. Water proof is not guaranteed. So yes, like the example above, you are pretty safe in rain. But deliberately allowing /taking your phone into water is unwise. Particularly at the beach. The IP57 rating is for fresh water. Salt water is a different situation and for various reasons has more chance to damage your phone.
Okay. Now the good news is that the problems you are seeing probably do not reflect permanent damage. Most likely you have salt deposits on the micro USB connector that are causing electrical shorts. So you need to carefully clean the connector. That would be best done with one of the better brands of contact cleaner. If I was you, I'd at least go to a pharmacy /drug store and look for some 99% rubbing alcohol. Remove your phone battery, then gently squirt a very small amount into the micro usb connector space to flush out any salt. Repeat several times. Do not use a large amount of "pressure" when squirting. Just enough to splash and rinse the connector.
Let it dry ten minutes after the final rinse before replacing the battery. Clean the USB cable too as it may have picked up salt from the phone. And with any luck you'll be back to normal. It's a little more risky to try cleaning the speaker.. but you can try the same approach if you want to.
Good luck.

Water damage story.......insight wanted.

I bought a friend of mine a LG G2 and within a couple weeks she managed to have it take a drink. The horror on my face was, well, horrifying when i was told. Anyways about the phone.........
She knew to immediately put the phone in rice which she did.a few days later i get the phone into my hands, moment of truth right? First thing i did was to take it apart and see if there's any corrosion on the board or any leftover residue which i found none. reassembled the device and plugged it in for........well i dont know why, i just did. I read online if the phone shuts off immediately after contact with water your chances are good. Anyways the phone showed signs of life. It began booting up past the LG logo to the boot animation of "Desolation ROM" where it freezes and than loops freezing at different times of the boot logo.
Download mode works so i decided to flash the KDZ 20C. The phone boots up entirely into the OS and works with few *issues. Two things i have problems with, the internal storage doesnt appear** on the computer regularly, and i must "adb reboot recovery" a few times before it successfully will boot into recovery. but i can manage with that. I rooted it through sideload, installed autoRec and got TWRP flashed and working. I did flash the new TWRP so that it mounts the storage to computer. anyways so i went to flash the rom, Desolation, Resurrection Remix, and Bliss pop with the same issues. ive dont everything multiple times already to no avail.
Ideas? anyone?
*issues: it thinks the headphone are plugged it and rapidly cycles the animation.
** it varies from one flash of the KDZ to the other i can "adb Push file /sdcard/"
Solution: buy her an old Nokia
Buy a new logic board.
Sounds like this one is toast

From my experience over the years water damage is a 50/50 shot.
On one hand you get a 100% recovered device with minor repair...i.e replace battery and or LCD and you're good to go.
On another hand you have weird malfunctions i.e headphone jack saying its plugged in when its not....dead wifi, dead vibrate, no data connection...the list can go on and on...
When this happens, unless you're skilled to replace the ICs on the logic board with some skillful soldering, I'd pass and either sell or use the phone for parts.
Start fresh with another used G2....maybe one with a broken screen you can get cheap and swap parts over to your phone.
Oh yeah...have your friend buy herself an S6 Active...

Have seen a few logic boards in ebay sell cheap the last 2 weeks. You may get lucky and replace the board with a newer/better condition one and fix your problem entirely.
I'd recommend buying a new battery too

How does the screen look?
I'd inspect the LCD and light box underneath to be safe as well.
If both look like new you're safe there.
Basically:
New logic board
New battery
New screen (if necessary )and youre good to go

Strip of unresponsive screen when powered on for a while?

So something I noticed on my old note 4 is that the screen has a strip unresponsive to touch (pen works fine).
The thing that weirds me out is that when you reboot the phone, it works perfectly fine, but after being on for a few hours, the middle part of the screen just stops responding.
Rebooting revives the part of the screen, but not for long. Factory resetting it does nothing different and it's running completely stock firmware and software.
Any ideas as to what's causing this? I'm not sure if replacing the screen would help since it seems to work fine for the short duration that it does.
It sounds like a digitizer problem. I wonder also if the heat of the phone is causing something to change or even physically warp to cause the unresponsive part.

Either a blown display or mobo.
A trace, solder joint, micro weld or junction failed.
It's possible it could be a connector/ribbon cable failure in which case easily repairable.
Check the display/mobo ribbon connectors...

I'm pretty sure it's not heat since you can turn it on, leave it on a table, idle without anything running, and it'll be completely room temp and the part of the screen stops responding.

Could be literally 100s of thousands of parts that could have failed; semiconductor junctions, resistors or caps.
Solder failures aren't uncommon either.
If you spare parts, use the process of elimination. If you really like that model having a few parts queens around is a plan.
Hopefully it's a connector contact... check all connections including grounds.
For $650 you can get a Note 10+ 512gb in excellent condition... don't got too nuts trying to fix it.

Sorry to hear that.
Some devices seem to defy being repaired.
45 years ago Tom Schall owned a TV repair shop. He was an excellent technician with a engineering degree in electronics.
He swapped out a trouble filled Magnavox chassis with a known good one for a customer after repairing the original one at least twice only to have another circuit fail.
After a month he did the swamp but continued to try and fix the original. He repaired completely different sections of it only to have another one fail, HV, tuner, horizontal output, audio, and more.
Never once did it survive a couple days of burn in, sometimes only hours. It got to be a running joke. Hundreds of test point checks, scoped it, testing isolated components pondering how it could be so cryptic to repair. At this point no one else would even touch it... but Tom persisted for at least 3 more years in his spare time.
If there's a heaven or hell I'm sure Tom's still tinkering with that chassis. RIP
They weren't called Magotboxes for nothing

That worked at first, but I rebooted the phone and it seems to be doing it again. I tried to update the firmware again, and it's not working. Any advice? It worked fine for over a day without any issue after doing that at first, now it's back to doing it again.

Sorry late reply, I didnt get a notification. It worked for me and I haven't had to do it again, it likely sounds like you have a hardware issue unfortunately.
Only other option maybe, is putting on a custom rom, which will instigate a full system wipe and a new fresh software install to a more modern Android version. Possibly may be worth a shot?

Alright, update.
i tried again, and it fixed it, but a while later, it did it again. Since that seemed to fix it for a bit, i can't imagine it being solely a hardware problem.

honestly, that's the plan as of right now. As much as I like the S-pen features on this, it'd be for the better if it fixes it.
Update, TWRP + new rom installed. Still does it.
With Refined Nougat N7FE, I'm able to open the screen firmware menu from the dialer and update like with the stock rom. It sometimes fixes it for a while, but ends up doing it again.
