I had LOS 16 working on my s5e and decided to update to LOS 17. This was not quite as successful as there were problems with my dock showing up on the right side of the screen.
Unhappy with that situation and unable to resolve it, I decided to revert to stock and then LOS 16.
I reverted to Stock successfully using Odin.
I then loaded vbmeta.tar on the device again using Odin. Odin claimed success.
I then loaded twrp-3.3.1-4-gts4lvwifi.img.tar on the device again using Odin. Odin claimed success.
When I try to reboot to recovery, I end up at Android Recovery, not TWRP.
Please advise.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

I have thoroughly read all of the developer threads regarding rooting a SM-916 variant of the Samsung Note 4 phone running Android 5.1.1
I cannot seem to be able to get TWRP to run on it. I downloaded the file twrp-2.8.7.0-N916SKL.tar and ran Odin. It seemed to flash fine and I got the normal disconnect message at the end. However when I try to run the custom recovery, it just goes to the normal default recovery screen. I have repeated the Odin flash several times, but the same behavior persists.
Any ideas on how to get TWRP on this phone?
Solved
I found a tip on another website that saved me and solved this problem. After doing the flash of TWRP with Odin, you have to be really quick to use the power/home/up volume key combination to go into the Custom recovery mode. If you don't, the phone rewrites the original recovery software back over the TWRP and then boots into normal recovery mode. If you are quick that first time, you will get into TWRP. After that first time, regular recovery is gone and you can then get into TWRP without any difficulty. Hope this helps anyone who has this problem.
Hello.
So I just downloaded the TWRP, and flashed it into my phone using Odin.
What's the problem is, odin flashed twrp successfully into my phone with PASS message. and my phone restarted. Then when i tried to launch it into the recovery mode, using vol up+power+home, there's no changes in the recovery mode. No TWRP recovery, my phone still using the stock recovery.
Tried to flash philz recovery with "Set warranty bit: recovery" error, neither flashed the mohan root and still got the same error.
Any help with the problem? Thank You for any further helps.
Currently using Android 5.0.2 with G530HXCU1BPE4 Firmware (https://samsung-firmware.org/downlo...al Sim)/27O0/SER/G530HXCU1BPE4/G530HSER1BPB1/)
*here's the mohan root method http://www.phonehorn.com/2014/11/root-samsung-galaxy-grand-prime/ (worked before with my past firmware with Android 4.4.4)
Philztouch and that root file may be only for Kitkat.
You can try Kingroot+SuperSume
Hey guys. I'm trying to update my TWRP recovery but now I get the yellow triangle when to put the phone into recovery and lock icon before booting. I'm currently running 7.1.1 octos rom. The phone can boot fine but I don't have any working recovery right now. I tried using odin to flash several tar twrps but it constantly fails. I've used several cables too and 2 pc's to rule out connection problems but still the same. I'm out of ideas right now. I don't want to go flashing back to stock rom if I can get a working recovery thru odin. Thank you....
P.S. I tried to update my TWRP supposedly to 3.1. . . as it is preferred for flashing lineage oreo rom that's when my recovery goes bad.
Try reinstalling the TWRP that was working. It seems like the new TWRP isn't too compatible with our phones on the MDL bootloader. You might have to ODIN back to stock to fix it.
hi
ive got a s8, which was rooted using magisk, but was having issue, so was advised to unroot, remote and try superSU instead.
in the process of flashing stock rom AND 8.0, the phone now boots up to black screen showing verification failed, only option to reset.
when i press reset, all it does is restarts, loads up TWRP which had been installed before,
TWRP runs some program and fails and then phone goes back to black screen showing verification failed.
ive booted it into download mode, in the hope that i can just start again by simply lashing fresh stock rom, but it connects to odin fine, but when i click start, it gives a red error every time.
so i cant access the standard recovery menu as ive got TWRP so that loads instead and it looks as that is corrupted and i cant flash new fresh rom from download as odin brings up issue
ive check another phone and there is no issue with odin or the usb-c cable,
there is an issue with the s8 and odin does not like something in the s8 so wont let me flash anything to it,
any advice would be greatly appreicated.
When you flashed the stock rom using odin did you flash a bootloader aswell as the rom or did you just flash the rom the problem might be that the bootloader was for pie and the rom is oreo or vice versa whenever I flash back to stock I fill all but one of the boxes in odin
i suspect it was all oreo, as i downloaded as a complete file but ill check and get back to you
thanks for advice.
So I have tried 25 different ways using Odin, TWRP, 10 different files, etc. and cannot seem to get a stock firmware back on this device. Is there just a simple step by step to follow and download the correct files to allow me to get this thing back to factory?
Currently I have wiped the device and successfully installed and able to boot to TWRP but cannot get past this. Every time I try Odin (except to move TWRP) I get a write failed error.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
same for me, any hints on hiw to revert to stock rom?
