Hey everyone.
So I have an unlocked S10 plus (all stock) from USA, on the U1 firmware of course. I moved to Canada like 6 months ago. I re-registered my Samsung account by deleting my US account & registering on /ca site again. Now, the Samsung account shows up correctly on my phone with my Canadian credentials, address, postal code, etc. Today, I installed Samsung Pay & tried to add my RBC cards to it using both the camera feature & manually as well. It detects the cards well as in VISA, number etc. correctly but instead of postal code it asks for zip (i get presented with the option to put only digits/numbers in on the keyboard; not the alphanumeric keyboard). Have tried clearing storage/cache for the app; re-installing; and logging out and back in Samsung account on the phone. No luck.
Any suggestions? or am I missing something?
Also, in the future if I were to buy a Samsung phone, say S11 plus/Note 10 plus from the Samsung/ca site, what kind of firmware does it come with? like is there an unlocked firmware for Canada as well?
Thank you.
Try using this trick for the zip code if it's not important. Put 00XXX where the Xs are the numbers of your postal code. I use this when going to the US and paying for gas at pumps that asks for zip codes and it works.

Lol. It is the other way. I want a way to put in postal code (6 length alphanumeric = B3H4K2) in when it asks for a zip (5 length numeric).
So, just spoke to Samsung Pay support & they told it is because the phone is on the US firmware. Does not matter if your account is Canadian .
Lol. Anyway, so is there anything like an unlocked Canadian firmware that can be flashed to this US U1 phone & is that possible? or isn't the chipset different too? snapdragon vs exynos(in Canada phones)?

Hi, I want to sell an application developed by me, but this service is not supported in my country (Romania). So I want to ask a friend of mine who lives in a country (France or US) where selling paid applications is possible to help me with this. Now I don't know exactly what to tell him about the process: What is required by his side ? A bank account or a credit card ? How the money are transferred to him ? What exactly Google checks to verify if the developer is in one of the supported countries ? Please help me to understand the process as I'm new in the Android world
You'd need to setup the Merchant account with an address in that country, then have a bank account and tax/business registration information for that country, for it to work
Thank you, tax/business registration what this means (sorry, don't used with these) ? From the fees taken by Google (30%), your incomes will be also taxed by the
country's regulatory ?
Do I need to have a company for this ? Thank you.
I've seen apps that is in the free market, but when you download it it asks you to go to a website and pay with PayPal to receive a code which you input in the app. Don' know if that's against Google's ToS tho or something
To revive this topic a bit.
I am also having this issue, since my country is unsupported by Google. Do you think would be a double if I travel to Italy for example, open current account there and sign up to Developer Console like I am from Italy? I can find some address there, since Google also asking for your residence address. But, will they ask for additional confirmation? Like passport or ID card copy to see that I am on that address or they will not?
Or if any of you find out other way how to sell the apps on GP from unsupported countries, would be great!
Thanks

I asked the very same thing yesterday but no one answered yet. I have an address in another, supported country, but i am still waiting for the invoice to send it for the verification. Since I havent had any payments for 2 months now and I sold lots of paid apps I worry about that I wont see that money ever... I hope they wont refuse my verification just because i will send them an ID and an invoice with different addresses and countries.. I'll let you know if they answered.

Sign up for a GMail account using a US based proxy (P.S. - this is mentioned in the blog post!)
Is there a way to get it to redeem on Canada for an existing account? What if I actually go to the USA? Seems it is not possible but what do they propose you do if you move?
This method requires making of a new Email account with a US region... is it not possible to maybe CHANGE your current primary gmail accounts region to the US...?? I dont want to have some other email address which has all my paid apps on it... whats strange is iv given my email to someone in the US to redeem a card for me right there, Yet its Still saying the card not valid in your region... :S
Google doesn't let you change it. I have discussed it in length with them and "escalated" the issue only to be told that "if you move, you have to make a new account to change the region". My Canadian account and all its content, then, is completely useless. Hope they modernize and fix this soon. They seem to think it isn't a big deal having to manage multiple accounts.

But that's ridiculous... I found where you can change your account region from... but its still giving the same error... that is by far the dumbest thing iv heard... a person is supposed to make a new email address just cuz he migrates...?? And what to do about all the other places your old email id has been in use........ jeez...

Send complaints to them and log tickets. Their poor service won't get any better if people don't speak up!

They actually just responded to my email a bit back... what they had to say was you need to have some credit card linked to your account, which has a billing address of that country where you want your account to be associated with... once you have that don't then you can redeem the card, if the credit card entered is a U.S card...
They sent it along with steps of what exactly needs to be done... if you want can post it here...

If you could, because I undertook those steps only to have the box greyed out to change country code. On contacting them again after complying with their US Credit Card demands they then told me it cannot be changed once set to Canada - I have to make a new account for USA. They are probably hoping most people can't do step 1 before breaking it to them that it doesn't matter if they do, since it won't change anyways.

Thanks for contacting us about country support for Google Play. We use the billing address of your default payment instrument in Google Wallet to help determine your home country for accessing the Play Store. Our collection of content can vary by country, so your view of the Play Store may differ from what others are seeing when you travel outside of the country listed on your default payment methods billing address. Please note that you must have a valid payment method with a billing address located inside a country in order to access that country's Play Store. If you're having issues viewing your intended country's Play Store, the US is going to be your permanent residency, and would like to change your default payment method or update an existing billing address in Google Wallet, please use the following steps:
1) Sign into your Google Wallet account to manage your payment methods (https:// wallet.google.com/manage/paymentMethods) 2) Add a new card or change your default payment instrument to one with a billing address located inside your desired country 3) Open the Play Store and navigate to any item available for download 4) Click to begin a download until you reach the "Accept and buy" screen (no need to complete the purchase) 5) Close the Play Store and clear data for the Google Play Store application (Settings > Apps > Google Play Store > Clear Data) or clear your browser cache 6) Re-open the Play Store. You should now see the Play Store that matches your default payment instruments billing country. If you haven't yet added a payment method to your account for the first time, please add a card directly from the Play Store with a billing address that matches your intended country location. Then, follow steps 3 through 6 to show your intended country's Play Store. If you believe that you're experiencing a different location-related issue, please first verify if the country of your primary payment method matches your intended country. If the countries match, please provide any screenshots and additional details that might help me resolve your issue. We appreciate your feedback as we continue bringing more content to Google Play. Thank you for reaching out!

I've not been able to get any proxies to let me make an American email account...
"Don't be retarded"
Yup,
I am Canadian and bought two $25 Google Play gift cards on one of my frequent trips to the United States only to find that I cannot use them in Canada and even when I go to the States.
The whole idea was not to have to offer up a credit card to Google. Why would I need the gift cards if I could use a credit card?
When I complained to the Google support line, I got a lame story about "exchange rates". Duh! The money had already changed hands!
I know that I can create a new bogus gmail account when I am traveling to the States and do a factory reset of my device but ... hey!? ... I've never heard of a retailer who would want to discourage a sale.
Google should update it's corporate motto.
Just venting. My apologies for the unhelpful post.
Cheers.
hey i can help you to it
just email me the google play gift card code and your gmail and password so that i can attach it to your account at [email protected]
Ive purchased apps on Google Play using the "Bill My AT&T Account" several times. I have maybe 6 apps purchased this way. Then when Google pushed their "Redeem" option out to my device, it replaced my Billing the carrier option with the "First set up a payment option" forcing me to enter a credit card or use their "redeem".
Contacted Google on the forums ,,,,, nothing. Logged onto their Help files ...nothing but scripted info that is the same for no matter which carrier or device... "its your carrier's blocking"... not true. Ive had several rounds with AT&T and walked through every means to assure no att settings blocks my billing option... att wants money no way they will pass this opp up on customers.
Logged onto Google's g+ and posted on their googleplay , wallet andother groups,.... nothing.
Finally on 11/16 the Bill my AT&T account option was there again!!!! This morning 11/20... its gone again and Googles pushed some update but it doesnt say exaclty what they pushed.
Google does NOT support customers or users beyound what they script online.. Anyone ever get this option resolved if i you had the feature removed prior?
same here
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and updated to 4.2.2 on CM10.1 and the option is gone. I contacted at&t and they said my account is provisioned for it to work (I've used it in the past) and my account isn't past due. Any update on a solution?
Have a google account and the region is set to the US instead of the UK, dollar signs are shown and UK apps are not available as it says it's not available in your country.
Have made alterations to google wallet as described on google, but this hasn't made any difference, everything I can see I've changed and it's still showing dollars instead of pounds.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers.
Fixed issue myself, altered everything within Google wallet, changed: address, bank card, billing address, and the sim card.
This fix was not for myself but for a friend.
Hi all,
I've recently bought this gorgeous Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, and I'm using it on O2 (UK), and I have a good mobile plan (with international calls) from my wife's contract, but I can't find the app Talk2Go in playstore. If I look after it on google, I can access playstore (for that app, apart that it's working fine) but I'm getting the message "This item cannot be installed in your device's country". The same message I'm getting by accessing playstore from PC. How can I install it from playstore (in order to get usually updates of the app)?
I have installed the apk (which isn't the latest build, but it's working fine) though from google, but, like I said, I want the playstore version.
Same issue with O2 app. I'm guessing there's an issue on my phone somewhere but I can't realize where?
check your software version, if the phone was manufactured or bought outside of the UK . It has the wrong software on it.
It recognizes playstore from a different country. simply flash the latest O2 software and the problem should be corrected.
Some apps are only for certain countries..
Try to VPN it, if it doesnt work.. make a new account for that region just to download apps...
which version should be? I have now:
what do you mean by new account for that region?
So
did you previously use it outside the region that you reside in now....just make a new playstore confirm your bank acc make a small purchase and just refund it should change location to where u reside make sure the bank is from where u currently reside in and try again if not then you are gonna have to proxy your connection by an app
no, I bought it from a local guy, hard reset and added my sim, and with UK card in google wallet. I've called google 10 min ago reporting this issue, and it's on going.
