Hey guys, I just bought a a vs995 from ebay new in box hoping it would come in nougat so I could root. But it came stock with 8.0.0
and a security patch date of 10-1-2018. Software version of 20C. Any way to downgrade or root this thing? Thanks for any recommendations.

All the ones I've seen are for downgrading from unlocked /rooted oreo. Mine is completely stock and I haven't seen anything for that.

Reread them again. They're downgrading in order to root (mostly), not with root.
But the TLDR of those guides is LG UP, in upgrade mode, with whatever firmware (kdz).
Anyway here's a link to the vs995 thread where the guy made videos and has links to lgup and one of the old firmware that can be used to root. If you want to browse or download a different one this site is ok but slowish

I have tmobile v20 and accidentally installed the latest update. I know It's impossible to downgrade due to antirollback. If you sucessfully were able to get back to twrp please share.

I tried to downgrade using lgup it don't work man.
It does work. It worked for me. I just got my V20 a few days ago and updated it. Then i rolled it back so I could root.
Please do some research first before posting false info. Its doable

Omg yes you can roll back. Just back to 10j and was able to install twrp and custom roms.

Firmwares with the ending 92-x are for India and Brazil, ending on 93-x for Europe, US and Asia Pacific.
For Europe/US the latest firmware is 93-10 (April security patch).
The latest one I found uploaded is 93-4. The same for India, 92-4 is uploaded.

Maybe that's why my device got screwed? Because I flashed EU firmware 93-4 on an Indian Variant? I think NOT

A lot of people did. Maybe that's causing problems, I only know that you can't receive OTA's anymore.
The devices should work as expected but what happens if you flash a custom ROM and go back to stock (maybe another build?)I don't know but it's possible that all this voLTE and IMEI losing stuff is related to it.

Meanwhile, I am figuring out a way to hardbrick this device and use blankflash to bypass the bootloader.

That's what happens when there's multiple variants of the same phone and no one properly labels the firmware or provides specifications. I've done it, got back to stock with a locked bootloader and recovered IMEI. OTA updates installed with no issues but left with stuck with IMEI 0 again. Anyone in this situation who failed to make an initial backup with EFS or lost that backup is screwed. At this point you're best option is to stick with a stable Oreo ROM. We're getting better support from devs while Lenovo leaves us in the dark.

My problem is finding a way to hardbrick the device while the bootloader is locked.
Does anybody have this file yet? Thanks.
can anyone make a flashable TWRP?

Switch to the U firmware. AT&T firmware won't update without a valid AT&T SIM.

Has 1000% to do with the firmware. Has everything to do with the bootloader. The bootloader is locked and cannot be unlocked so perm root is unattainable on the 935A or U firmware.
Anyone check for ARB in this update?
No one has checked yet? Crazy

Of course not, I'm not willing to possibly screw myself LOL
If anyone (including me) expecting this update to fix poor signal, it DOES NOT.
The reason why i want to get root thats NOT on 13A with dirtysanta is because kernel is messed up.
There are too many problems with kernel files that come with dirtysanta root method.
I seen oreo has been released on the v20 and alearted my youtube fans about the update and not take it or lose root. Since oreo is a new version of Android OS will the uppercut downgrade method still work for oreo to 13a or will it brick the phone
If it will brick the phone is there a way to downgrade to 13a or is there a root method for oreo
Thank you
