Deactivate Access key card/hotel key card - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

Hi.
I have my access key card in my galaxy led cover.
And it seems like every other day my card has been deactivated.
I use the card to get access to work.
either its NFC or rfid.
i just scan the card at the door.
Can the phone or the case be the problem here ?

All phones interfere with hotel and other NFC style keycards it's to do the magnets in the phone and the case it cannot be avoided unfortunately so I just suggest you put the card in a different pocket

Okay, thanks for the reply.
It kinda sucks to be honest. Led cover even have space for your cards...
But the NFC on my visa card works perfectly.

I can confirm this, i manage a Hotel. Customers constantly come to the front desk to have their key cards re-programmed. Your Visa card has a stronger chip than the Hotel cards which are re-programmable. Keep your Hotel card away from your phone

"I can not connect" is very vague...
Is your APN definitely correct?
What happens if you turn off 3G?
Does this happen when you have plenty of signal?
Buy a new SD card, and get a brand-name one. I've had so many issues with unbranded cards on my G1. Some would mount some times and not others or fail to partition correctly.
If you can get a Transcend card.

Call your carrier?
Check your coverage?
Check for errors on your sdcard with your computer.
Buy a new sdcard.

Try backing up your stuff and formatting the card in your phone, people have reported issues with Sandisk cards, 8GB class 6 Transcends are pretty cheap on amazon.
How much signal to do you have?
Have you tried switching to 2G?
Is your brother on t-mobile as well, if so check his settings?

Nexus S detects train access cards

This is more of an FYI...
I found out today that my Nexus S can detect MyKi cards (Subway/train access cards in Melbourne Australia - http://www.myki.com.au ) when NFC is turned on. To test it out, just place the phone on top of your wallet with the MyKi card in it and you'll hear the detection sound.
Now the question is, when will I be able to use the phone instead of the access card?
It would be much easier just to open an app and touch the back of the phone to pass through the gates at the train station.
The future, just one step away
I use the same (stupid) smart-ticket system here in melbourne, waste of money the myki card is. anyways, to answer your question, the card is an nfc enabled device. and it has a chip inside which stores information (an unique code for the card). and the phone (NS) reads that info, and beeps indicating it recognises it. if there is an app utilises NFC, like NFC task launcher, it will automatically launch it and respond with appropriate actions. source? i have and use an myki myself

Use NFC for storing Swipe Card data etc

Hi,
I was wondering if NFC on the Galaxy S4 can be used to copy and then transmit data from RFID cards.
I have a swipe card into my building and I was wondering if I could load the data onto my phone. That way I could "swipe" my phone against the reader rather than using the card
Does anyone know if there is an app for this or even if the phone is capable of doing such a thing?
Thanks
Its called NFC Emulation, currently, you cant. Unless the building can detect a visa/mastercard, in which case you could try a virtual wallet.

Lost Mobile Data - HALP ME! (T-Mobile)

Last night I was in my basement, rocking out to some tunes on the treadmill. I noticed my signal had become very weak and the 4G/LTE icon was no longer in the notification bar. My signal is often a little weak in the basement, so I thought nothing of it and flipped on Wi-Fi. Couple hours later I had finished my workout and went upstairs. Turned off Wi-Fi and still had no data connection. I tried the phone. No mobile data. I reset network settings. No mobile data. I turned data on and off. No mobile data. I checked my wife's phone and she still has mobile data. I drove far enough away that I should've hit another T-Mobile tower but, still, no mobile data!!
I called T-Mobile. Went through every possible troubleshooting step other than a factory reset, but nothing worked. I really don't have the time for a hard reset until next week.
Anyone else have this problem or have any suggestions on how to resolve it?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Battery pull and leave the battery out for 5 minutes? Try your wife's sim card on your phone?
Same thing happened to me. In the backup and reset part of settings, there is an option to reset wireless settings. Worked for me. You will have to reenter wifi passwords and pair Bluetooth devices again though.

Didn't work. Neither did a hard reset. T-Mobile is shipping me a replacement overnight. I guess it works out because I have a nice scratch in the screen.

Updated from what? I was using the SIM card that came with my Note 7.
While I'm awaiting my replacement V20, I've now got the same SIM card in my S7 Edge, and mobile data is working just fine.

Sorry, but I don't buy into your mode of thought. Using the SIM card that came with the phone isn't going to magically fix mobile data.

I lost ALL MOBILE DATA. Everywhere. Anywhere. Not a bad signal. Full bars pretty much all the time. But no mobile data.

Tethering on Nougat

I am on a UDP and was able to get the built in wireless tethering working.
1. Eject the Sim Card tray ( Just a little bit)
2. Open up the settings menu (not the drop down shortcut)
3. Go to mobile hotspot and tethering
4. re-insert sim card tray
5. click to enable mobile hotspot
6. enjoy tethering
So I take it that I need to be dragging my Sim ejector pin with me everywhere now. Lol
Can someone confirm that this works? So I can upgrade my phone.
Thanks!
Ok. So I slid it out and then slowly pushed it in as I clicked the hotspot quick icon. I didn't see it say checking subscription status. Where do we see if it's actually being logged as hotspot data?

Well I'm on the original UDP, with that I'm not allowed to tether unless it's on my plan. I believe the OP is in the same boat as well. If you're on the new UDP plan then I'm not sure how you would tell if it's being logged or not. I'd maybe steam a movie or show through your hotspot and check back periodically. You take the risk of using the allotted amount you may tether monthly though.
Yeah. I know it says 10GB but I've already streamed over hotspot like 40gb when I had the t mobile nougat rom. After 10gb it's supposed to go to 3g speed, but I haven't noticed a drop. I'm hotspotting right now using the trick and no slowing down yet. I know when it activated it didn't say "checking subscription status", it just was on. So we'll see. I'm trying to save 50 bucks a month on cable internet because I get about 30mbps here as is.
Wow, thanks for this! I had already give up. Alternatively, you can use PdaNet through the same folks behind FoxFi for USB tethering. It's a matter of what's more convenient... popping out the Sim card every time or carrying a USB cord, assuming you're using it for a laptop.
I got the USB tether on FoxFi to work, is there a way to make it work so I can connect my Galaxy Tab A to my phone?
Didn't work for me
I could not get this to work. I also have the old plan and when I take the sim card out even slightly it yells that the sim card is missing. When i go to the hotspot menu in the settings menu it tells me it needs a sim card. So when I put the sim card in it still checks for subscription status. Could you do a video of how little you need to take the sim card out. Or give me any more pointers.
I literally push it back in and press wifi hotspot on fast. It goes to thinking mode but when the 4g turns on, wifi is there too. It takes some getting used to.

Take it out, find the setting, be ready to turn it on and hit it right after you inset the sim card again. It has to be inserted, but before it realizes you should have a subscription.
you sir (OP), should be knighted. Nice work.
I dunno, but on my Samsung S7 Edge (Verizon) when trick the hot spot on like described in this thread in 5min I get the need to subscribe to hot spot and then it auto turns off.
Anyone else gets that?
I wonder where the check for it comes from and whether it's possible to block it.
I have not had that issue. Im on verizon as well and im on a old UDP plan. I ran it for 2 hours the other night without any issues.

I finally got mine to work today and it only lasted 5 minutes the 2 times I tried it.

I do have an SD card and I haven't unmounted it yet and I haven't had any problems, yet...
After the first couple of times it started working longer than a few minutes, 2 or 3 hours the next time.
Anyone rooted with MSL wanna test something out for hotspot?
Hopefully someone figures this out soon as I'm on the old better unlimited data plan and used foxfi at the shop means they wanted $75 a month for internet there and since the update I'm forced to pay for tethering which I have to admit isn't equal to what foxfi did considering now I can't have my hotspot on and use the phone still the same fashion and it seems to kick me off hotspot
And the S8 is literally around the corner

I tried it as the OS suggested and after a few tries got it to work. I didn't want to turn it off, but I didn't have anything to connect to it so it shut itself down after an hour or so. I did it again, again after a few tries, when I got home and connected my computer to it and it worked fine.
Thanks to the OP, for this, until there is a better way.
I turned mine on yesterday around 11:00 A.M. , it is now 7:20 A.M. It has been on for about 20 and 1/2 hours without issue, all following the original posters instructions. I say, give that man a cookie!!
