Okay so, i've had two v20's now.. An LS997 and now a vs995, Even after replacing the displays on BOTH devices they some how immediately get the burn image/ghost image?? Why?? the ls997 was acceptable with it, occasionally a small spot on the screen if i left it too long on a window e.g youtube, home screen, anything bright. then i'd notice it on a dark app,
The vs995 has it 24/7 and in the SAME spot even after replacing the screen, it looks like a weird faded menu coming down from the 2nd screen and its fine on both sides of it, i never goes away unlike the ls997.. Is it a board issue or what?? If so how come both devices had the same issue?
it gets VERY annoying to see a ghost image all the time of anything you do..
And i thought samsung's ghost image was bad Jesus

You haven't found the search button. The screen retention is the most common issue with the V20 with many things to try to fix it.
Personally I rooted and used root to adjusted the color balance to one of the settings suggested in the kcal thread which mostly eliminated it.
Others have had success with various screen filter apps (I've been rooted and using that kcal method for so long I don't remember the apps mentioned)
Edit: link to Reddit discussion on various filter apps/settings.. sFilter went rogue (did something bad but can't remember exactly what offhand) so avoid it.

Hi, Just wonder if you still have the screen problem (register the wrong place when click) after the upgrade.
No. You should check out the humongous thread on google support forums. Googe have now abandned even giving updates on this serious problem.
http://www.google.com/support/forum...8e&hl=en&fid=04134c63c784258e00047fdfe09ae547
p.s. no fix in ere36b either (as im running that now and still experience this problem at random)
I don't understand this issue, I just don't see it on mine at all, no matter what ROM I install ... there has to be something more to this than a simple fault across all handsets ... either select faulty ones or some other factor. Mine just works 100% as expected at all times.
That said I have had no 3G issues either, no matter what radio version I use. Perhaps I am lucky ?
I think its because people are touching the edge of the screen while pressing with the other causing it to register incorrectly

That is not it, there are plenty of videos that show the touchsreen misfiring while just laying on the table. Also, the way I hold my phone I am never touching the glass surface other than with the one finger doing the touching.
With regards to some people not seeing it, this issue is very random. I can go for days without noticing it and then out of the blue it would come back, most annoying when it happens while typing something.
There is another somewhat related issue with the sensor on the n1. If you download an app called multi touch paint and try to draw two parallel lines simultaneously from say top left corner down to bottom right you will see that the lines are not straight at all and full of zigzags. Only way that this sensor recognizes multiple lines properly is if you draw perfectly vertical or horizontal lines.
There is also a discussion on developer groups where game developers are pointing out this very problem of multi toch totally being screwed up where it switches axis causing your touch to register in completely the wrong place. From the comments of the android engineer it makes it seem that the sensor hardware is just like that, cheap and low quality.

I know, I have seen all these videos and attempted to re-create many times to test I have never seen this issue once.
Don't get me wrong I can understand it being a mare of you are having it, but I just dont ever see it.
after trolling the Google thread, it seems to me there are several scenarios everyone is lumping into "screen issues" and it's going to be hard to pin it down to one source
Mine happens (touch registers on the wrong part of the screen) when I am using certain apps (Ringdroid, Browser mostly) - a couple of things clears it up ; press the sleep button, kill all tasks if you have an app for it, or change to landscape mode. For other people it's the soft keys and/or much worse. Since mine clears up with a specific action, I tend to think it is software related.
With mine it used randomly to happen but only in the Launcher (never again since 36B). I couldn't point anywhere but if I selected any app with the trackball and opend ist everything worked fine again, also the keyboard on the launcher worked well. For me it seems that it has something to do with the launcher.
hi. i am using 2 phones the nexus s and the gs2 .
and i noticed something on my gs2 and i need to ask you people about it.
the phone isnt like 3 weeks old. its brand new. however i noticed a temp screen burn in on the following places.
when i use the keyboard for txt msging. if i pull the keyboard down " by pressing back ", i can see the squares of the keyboard on the screen for like few seconds before they dissapear.
i also noticed the same thing in the status bar, battery meter. specially in the browser or an hd wallpaper app called " HD wallpaper "
when i downloaded that app. i turned the wireless and went through the app. now its trying to load . if i switch the screen to the side. the status bar will tilt as well. vertical horizintal depends on the way you move the screen. and i clearly can see the marks of the status bar for few seconds before it dissapear again on whatever verticial or horizintal/
what is the issue here ? i cant call it burn in because its not permenant.
i noticed the same thing with Miui on the nexus S. but only on the status bar. nothing on the keyboard.
any idea peeps
is it some sort of memory effect or bad refrish rate ?
Someone else had this. I think it was related to apps or widgets they installed. It's not normal. Do a search and see if you can find the other thread. Try searching on "ghosting."
i was searching through ghosting. is this normal with everyone here ? or some people dont have it ?
i think you should be carefull with your phone, if you leave it to much on the same background it will burn in easelly, oled burn in as easelly as plasmas when it comes to leaving them on the same image over and over again, try see if you can change yours, i certainly have no such issues with none of the 2 i had nor with this one.
PS: depends on what you mean with ghosting, if you mean the pixel response time beying visible when moving an image fast then yes thats normal, even though oled have 0.01 ms response time this one is deffinitly higher as i can notice it easelly.
i have a screen burn in on my Nexus One, annoying at times when i do notice it.
Yes, I have this. Had a thread, temporarly burn in. I can see it when I type a message.
Just when the keyboard is visible and I pull down the notification bar, I can see the contoures of the keyboard letter there... Probably happens with other things but aren't that noticable on other colours than grey I guess...
i can also see some weird banding or whatever on a pure gray image, not sure how normal this is but ive noticed it with all of my 3 phones.
ghost image disappears for me within 2 seconds (very hard to see unless if you look at the screen hard), definitely not a problem, and wont be killing myself for this or even consider it a hardware issue.
i also facing a same problem as u guys, now waiting for service centre to replace my lcd.
This ghosting issue seems to happen with all phones, very visible when your using the keyboard and you drop down the notification tray, then it goes away after a couple of seconds.
Two issues here. First off, search the forum for burn in, its already been posted.
Two issues, the temporary burn in is new to the galaxy s2 and seems to go away after a few seconds. But all Samsung amoled screens suffer permanent burn in of the status bar, click time, and anything else in a static place.
My nexus one has permanent burn in right now, both status bar and keyboard. Original galaxy s and others has this also.
The temporary burn in seems to be different and only on this new amoled plus display so far.

i did search the forum before i post. however. as far as i know . burn in screens are permenant. and the other threads talked about that. here i am talking about something that goes off after few seconds. something like either ghosting / or something about low memory / low resposne / low refresh rate of the screen. not a real butn in.
I've recently bought a Galaxy S2 from someone and didn't see the burn in until a few days ago.
Now I can't reach the guy to get my money back... the phone seems in perfect shape except for the burn in (status bar and some digital clock widget).
I've been trying every day now to run this app called Screen Burn-in Tools for an hour or so but nothing happens.
You can find the app on the Google Play.
Should I continue using this tool or this burn-in is permanent and there's nothing I can do about it?
I can't believe such a high end phone has such a poor life display... how can this be possible!?!? They should've stayed with the regular LCD or something.
It's too bad because I'm a fan of the OLED idea and technology, but unfortunately samsung owns too many patents for this technology to spread to other manufacturers as well. This is what happens when the damn corporations get their greedy hands on something great that can benefit the mankind!
Hello,As always i have a new problem with my new HTC phone. at first i had light bleed on my top left corner of my phone.i persist my self not to attention to it.Now a new problem just appeared. When i use phone for a while,Some of the things and icons from the last app i opened,Left on the screen. It mostly showed itself when i go to a dark app or even scroll down my notification bar.It is like a transparency thing.i don't know what should i do,After that light bleed this problem really broke my heart.does anyone has this issue?
Thats screen persistence its a lcd screen just change the screen temperature too cool and it should fix it
Well i have not seen this on my u ultra yet but i have seen it on my old LG V10 which also used LCD. It usually happened when the phone is hot so most frequently in the summer or when under heavy load. Locking the phone and leaving it to cool for a few minutes always fixed the problem.

Just left the phone cool down for a while.
This defect name is Image Sticking.
I have same problem on U Ultra. It is a cheap phone with a cheap display.
All LCD panels has a certain degree of Image Sticking, but in this case is to strong and very easy to obtain.
This display from U Ultra is not good enough for a mobile phone.
I never saw this degree of image sticking on other phone, cheap or expensive.
hello, i have a LG V20 (H910) and i owned it for around a couple of months before this happened. my phone randomly over heated, rebooted itself and then the screen turned colours; eventually, the screen lost it's functionality. all the buttons and such work, and registers very few taps; however, a while back, i went to a shop to have it inspected. the shopkeeper said it needed a screen and i had to pay upfront + useless information; albeit, with no proper 'inspection'. i think it's screen retention. it ghosts very badly, and gets a bit hot to the touch. at this point, the screen is completely useless.
can i get any recommendations on how to fix this, or replacement ideas?
and an explanation would be appreciated as well,
thank you

Are you using a kennel with kcal support? Also have you considered changing the thermal paste? Couple of posts here about it.
It sounds like your issue is not the same as I have seen, but both V10 and the V20 have this curious "faux screen burn in/image retention" issue. I say "faux" because the particular issue I have seen can't be burn in. Burn in is permanent, it's literally an image burned into the effected pixels. But the issue with LG's is that there is an "after-image", often of icons on the notification bar, and it actually will change, fade away, or just be there for a while only to just suddenly disappear. I really don't know what could cause this, it happens often on my current V20, but also randomly and with no apparent reason or cause.
FYI some people have said this worked for them to fix the above-mentioned issue, but it requires root. I have not personally tried it. https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/lg-v20-screen-burn-fixed-t3661631
I'm new to this forum, so I posted in general this problem I'm having since I don't know which category fits for this.
I know this forum is for software-related topics, but I've found hardware questions as well, so I guess this should be fine.
Basically, some time ago my phone started having this problem, which I suspect is hardware related, which is what they call screen burn.
Funny thing is, people usually say this problem is permanent, but in my case it's just temporal.
Sometimes my screen is working just fine, and suddenly starts flickering. If I try to switch apps, a "ghost image" of the other app stays there in the background, and until the screen refreshes, it takes time, or maybe I have to switch my screen on-off again, etc.
Another times It turns white, but I still can use my phone properly.
I've identified it's just a screen issue, because as I said, I can actually use my phone fine, but I have this flickers and ghost images. These ghost images are actually the most annoying problem when they happen.
To do some testing, I downloaded a burn-in test app to check every colour, and I've noticed that most colours work fine, but just the white and grey were weird? Like, maybe in the top of the screen the colour wouldn't show, but in the rest of the screen it was working.
Other times, the screen starts to display "colour lines" in front of everything, and after some time they disappear.
Want I want to know is, is this a hardware problem, or software? I guess it's hardware, I'd find it weird to be software.
If so, changing the screen would fix this ghost images and flickers? I haven't tried changing a phone screen before, but I can just buy one and there are videos for my model on how to change the screen so I could do it.
What I want to know is, how to fix this, and If replacing the screen would do. I honestly am against the consumerism trend of throwing away phones, so I at least want to try.
Thanks.

Hi...
so it could be software or hardware based.
first i would make a full backup and then try to completly reset the firmware and check if the issue is done
if not...it could be the screen or the mainboard or the connector to the mainboard.
at first i would try to change the screen to a new one. mostly the screen have problems. if that not work it can be the mainboard...for a buying a mainboard i would look at ebay for a completly damage devices just to remove the mainborad there and to buod in to your Device
hope that helps you

I commented my problem with a friend who studied CS with me, and he told me after seeing the phone that in his opinion it's likely the screen. I think so too.
It's ebay a decent play for buying a screen? Or better aliexpress? I've seen screens for huawei p10 lite in aliexpress

Hi...
Idk if ebay or Alie would be better. I would take a look wich one could send it fastest to me and if it is original Part or from another manufacture.
Hello, I've been experiencing same kind of issues in recent months and I'm interested how the story continued and did fixing the screen was the solution?
Thanks in advance.
