Same problem on my mi 9t pro. Battery saver is OFF. Since the miui 11 upgrade, always on (ambient) display won't work.
Any suggestions?
I had the same issue, just fixed it.
I went to settings > ambient display > show items and there it was automatically set to turn on in 00:00 and off in 00:00, so technically it was never on. I just set show items to always.

Hello,
I installed the latest official stable Cyanogenmod 12.1 on my I9505. My Problem is, that when the screen is turned off and I move/shake the phone, it automatically turns itself on. I thought, this could be caused by the Ambient Display Setting in "Display & Lights", but I already turned that off as well as Daydream.
Does anyone have an Idea, what could cause the problem?

go settings/screen/ambient display -> off
As I wrote in my first post, I already did that. But thank you anyway for you helpfuness.
Okay, I found the solution by myself now:
The app "irplus" has an option, to automatically turn the screen on if the device is moved, which I haven't seen. It was running in the background the whole time and was the reason for my issue. Simply deactivating that option solved it.
Maybe that'll help someone who has the same problem.
Hello XDA Moto X Play Owners,
I have the Moto X Play with 2 Sims, updated to the latest OS Marshmallow 6.0.1, stock no root or mods.
After resetting/formatting my phone a couple of weeks ago, I started to have the following problem:
I always set my 'Display' > 'Adaptive Display' or Auto Brightness setting to OFF & set my display brightness manually. However, I noticed that my screen keeps 'dimming' itself automatically every couple of minutes without me changing anything in settings...
So I went back to check Display settings, and I find out that 'Adaptive Display' check box is checked back as "ON", without me changing it... I then rechange it back again to "OFF", however after a couple of minutes the device puts it again to "ON"...
This issue is driving me crazy, and my screens keeps jumping around with auto adaptive brightness without me changing anything in settings...
How can I set adaptive display & auto brightness to OFF for good and not have it turn ON by itself?
Please help! Thanks.
Bump.
Any help guys? D:

An app could be interfering.
Another suggestion would be to factory reset your phone again.
Try in safe mode and report please. https://motorola-global-en-uk.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/106497/p/30,6720,9392

Recently, i bought a Korean V20 F800L and received Oreo update. But every night, at 23:00, it automatically turns on wifi and keep i will have new notifications when i wake up.
I go to bed at 22:00 and always turn off wifi, close all recent apps before that. I think it may be something relates to Sync, backup or update but i couldn't find it.
Is there any solution for this?
Check settings-> smart settings and the configuration you have there.

nothing turned on
I don't have oreo yet on my V20 but I don't think that settings have changed that much so try to check at
settings->apps->configure apps->special access->modify system settings
There you will see the apps that have the authority to change your settings. Check the configuration of these apps one by one to see if something is set for the hour that the wifi changes to on.
My Mi 9T is on stock ROM MIUI Global 10.3.12
I don't know how I made this, but my phone turns off every day at 23:00 (resp. 11 PM ) and turns on again in the morning at 07:00. My problem is, that I wanted this behavior just for the always-on display and not for the whole phone.
How can I disable this, I can't find it anymore?
I found it. It's not in the preferences of the phone, but in the separated app 'security', in submenu battery, plan turn on/off

Hi guys, I'm having this problem for about 4 months, every time I turn on the auto brightness it goes to max, even when is super dark in my room, it started after I first unlocked the bootloader, only after I done that, the problem appeard.
I tried to lock the bootloader to see if doing that would revert de situation, but no success!
I've tried multiple costum rom's, I even went back to miui 10, but nothing would revert the situation!
Any ideas that could solve this problem?
if on miui then use code to get to service menu and test sensors

I've done that, the sensor seems to work fine, with no light it stays on 0 and when I turn on the light it goes to the max, but on the miui it's always on the max brightness, even if I put it on minimum manually with auto brightness on, it still shoots to maximum brightness
