[BUG]: Adaptive Display Stuck & Can't beTurned Off ! - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello XDA Moto X Play Owners,
I have the Moto X Play with 2 Sims, updated to the latest OS Marshmallow 6.0.1, stock no root or mods.
After resetting/formatting my phone a couple of weeks ago, I started to have the following problem:
I always set my 'Display' > 'Adaptive Display' or Auto Brightness setting to OFF & set my display brightness manually. However, I noticed that my screen keeps 'dimming' itself automatically every couple of minutes without me changing anything in settings...
So I went back to check Display settings, and I find out that 'Adaptive Display' check box is checked back as "ON", without me changing it... I then rechange it back again to "OFF", however after a couple of minutes the device puts it again to "ON"...
This issue is driving me crazy, and my screens keeps jumping around with auto adaptive brightness without me changing anything in settings...
How can I set adaptive display & auto brightness to OFF for good and not have it turn ON by itself?
Please help! Thanks.

Bump.
Any help guys? D:

An app could be interfering.
Another suggestion would be to factory reset your phone again.

Try in safe mode and report please. https://motorola-global-en-uk.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/106497/p/30,6720,9392

Brightness Control When Battery level is less than 5%

Hi,
Whenever the battery level is less than 5% I loose control on the brightness. The control from the notification pannel simply disappears, and if I try to do it from the settings menu I can't! Anyone know what triggers this and how can I control it? I went through the settings but couldn't find something related.
My normal settings for the screen are:
Auto Brightness
Adaptive Display Screen Mode
Power Saving Mode Off
I tried changing the above settings to see if they are the reason, but nothing changed!
Another point is about the power saving mode. In my previous phone (S II), it would allow me to choose at what percentge exactly do I require the power saving mode to be activated. At this phone, it don't! Any idea when does it kick in?

Thanks for the link. It will work, but I was looking for something that doesn't require rooting or adding a mod (i.e. something in the settings if available).
Anyway, thanks again for your help

You can resolve this problem by rooting your phone and install an app for changing brightness.
I resolved this annoying problem!

Note 4 Power Saving automatically turns off

Hi guys,
Having an issue with my Note 4 (SM-N910F) international version since the MM 6.0.1 update. I received a further update after the MM 6.0.1 recently and thought the issue would've been fixed but alas, no!
Current version of Software: N910FXXS1DPE7.
Issue is, I have power saving mode turned on and set to: Start power saving "Immediately". However it keeps getting turned off and the screen becomes bright and I could not recognise a pattern how this occurs.
Things tried so far:
-Unticked automatic brightness and dragged all the way to low.
-Smart stay was/is never ticked.
-Auto adjust screen tone is ticked, but unticking that and also leaving automatic brightness turned off still causing power saving to automatically turn off.
-I have tried to check for this issue in Safe mode and it still happens.
Any ideas of what could be causing this? I do not want to do a factor reset for this issue and if it can be avoided after all. Safe mode is somewhat similar isn't it?
I have noticed the issue occur when I start using Gmail app (not the Inbox one), but that is just one scenario.
It seems like the light sensor gets triggered when it faces bright light and turns off power saving mode and screen becomes bright, but just could be a red herring.
Thanks a million!

I have just one problem like yours. When i receive Marshmallow i just update. But Power Saving turns off every reboot. Just back to factory settings and make your wipes. I solve this with wipes and factory.

Thanks. Yeah I am trying to avoid factory reset because can't go thorugh the process of installing apps, setting up all the various accounts etc especially since there is no built in fully restorable backup feature. Family man with kids and have enough IT stuff to do at work.
I'm on stock/non-rooted device also. And this will be my last Samung device, if not the last Android!
I understand you very well. You can use HELIUM apk to make your nandroid backups without root and make easier this tedious work. I don't have rooted my phone but helium makes all faster that, and i use also wondershare mobile go for android and PC.
I hope this helps you and you can resolve your problem. Good luck and regards from Switzerland - (Mexico)

Thanks Tavok. I did download Helium and wanted to test it out, however my phone is now staying in Power Saving mode since a few days! I have done nothing new, didn't uninstall any app or change any settings as such for it to work. This is bugging me because I want to know what fixed it so that I can re-apply the fix again if need be.
I've also read that some people are complaining about Note 4 getting stuck in Power Saving mode and I hope this is not the case with mine, now that it seems to work as expected.
I will update this thread once I check it out further.
I found out how this power saving mode gets turned off. It is the Location settings. If location is off, the power saving mode stays on (this is what it was set to hence I didn't see the issue happening). But when I changed it back to High accuracy, I started to notice the power saving getting turned off from time to time when using certain applications that require Location accuracy.
This is a bug since the MM update!!
Any ideas how to use Location accuracy and still retain Power saving mode?
I did a factory reset and the issue persisted! I tried various location settings(of the 3 choices) asks none of them helped. When set to any one of them power saving automatically turns off after a while I.e. when location needs to be detected. The only workaround us to turnoff location altogether but that messes with the auto sync of accounts! Grrrrrrrr
I verified with Samsung Tech Support that Location and Power Saving are incompatible on the Galaxy Note 4, even with the latest Android version available for the device (6.0.1) . In other words, Turning on Location while Power Saving is active will disable Power Saving after a short period. Fortunately, the problem is fixed on later devices.

PLZ Help! Screen goes to sleep on me while using the phone.

I just got my g5 plus yesterday. I've been having this annoying issue where the screen goes to sleep randomly while I use the phone. I'm using my commonly used apps and the screen just dims and a second after it goes to sleep. I've also notice that if I leave the phone idle for at least 7 seconds, it also happens. I've tried power cycling the phone, changing settings in safe mode (had set it up for auto sleep after a minute), resetting app preferences and even tried 3rd party apps to try to override the stock settings for the screen's adaptive brightness. I asked the Moto Tech Support team and they said that I had to factory reset the phone, and if that didn't work, I had to turn it in for warranty. Is there a way to solve this?!
P.D. The issue doesn't persist while using the camara app. This is the reason I think the issue is more of a software issue that a hardware issue.

S10+ Blue light filter not working when on sunset/sunrise setting

I tried looking everywhere but was unable to find a solution so maybe someone here knows what's going on. I have the blue light filter set to turn on and off via sunset/sunrise. However, when I leave it like this the filter turns on at 6:20pm everyday without fail. I don't know when it turns off but I assume it is in the early hours of the morning when I am asleep. I can set it to a manual time and that works fine, but I don't want to keep changing it every week for the rest of my life...
I have location setting turned on - I never turn location off. I'm not sure why it is stuck at 6:20pm, so any help would be appreciated!

Auto brightness problem

Hi guys, I'm having this problem for about 4 months, every time I turn on the auto brightness it goes to max, even when is super dark in my room, it started after I first unlocked the bootloader, only after I done that, the problem appeard.
I tried to lock the bootloader to see if doing that would revert de situation, but no success!
I've tried multiple costum rom's, I even went back to miui 10, but nothing would revert the situation!
Any ideas that could solve this problem?
if on miui then use code to get to service menu and test sensors

I've done that, the sensor seems to work fine, with no light it stays on 0 and when I turn on the light it goes to the max, but on the miui it's always on the max brightness, even if I put it on minimum manually with auto brightness on, it still shoots to maximum brightness
