I have followed the guide step by step by first installing fastboot rom then restart in fastboot mode (Hold the camera button at power on) to install the latest 2.3.4 CyanogenMod 7 by MU4RIK. It installs without any errors. But when I restart the phone, it shows SwiftDroid logo and then it just gets stuck on the CyanogenMod 7 screen. I have waited more than 20 min but it never gets past it. I even tried recovery method but same problem. Also I have never installed any other rom except the official 2.1 with fastboot. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Have u tried flashing it again??? with fastboot i mean..
Also der r many guides in dis thread for these kinds of problems.... try flashin da kdz file..use mu4riks 1
You can try go into fastboot mode and write in cmd console command for wipe:
fastboot -w
Wystukane z mojego Swifta przy użyciu Tapatalk.
Wipe Data
When In recovery select wipe data/factory reset and it will boot.
Thanks airbus360 It works perfectly.

Just tried it on my unlocked Z1
results:
I flashed the TA update as I was supposed to do and EMMA said that nothing went wrong
Flashed twrp recovery (fastboot flash recovery)
pressed power and volume down -> phone vibrated -> let go of power -> sony logo shows up and phone boots normally...
Am I missing something?

However I'm no Sony developer and I'm facing the same issue.
Xperia Z Ultra user here and the same result, device is booting normally when holding power and vol-. Maybe because the recoveries are made to work on FOTAKernel partition and they won't work on normal recovery partition?

That sounds interesting [emoji106] But do you think also the recovery images without boot?
I don't know how things are on Z1, but on ZU we have TWRP which can be flashed to FOTAKernel partition, so it can be booted on custom roms and it survives flashing custom roms. The thing is, the recovery is packed with FOTAKernel ramdisk so it still can be functional and maybe when we flash it to normal recovery partition and try to boot from it, the device don't know what to do because of the FOTAKernel ramdisk packed with it? Seems like this could be the reason but I am not an expert (15 yrs old stud can't know much about it ), just presuming. If so, recoveries have to be rebuilt to work now.
Regards
OK, yes for Z1 we have an unofficial TWRP 2.8 build to use with FOTAKernel partition. Perhaps it's the same as you described for ZU. BTW., I'm a 16 yo student, so can't know much either [emoji13]

It seems to work for me now! Flashed a random recovery to the FOTAKernel partition of my Z1 (ROCKZ1L kernel) and I had a twrp recovery on the recovery partition. Steps after that:
Press volume down and power and wait for vibration then release power and when the sony logo shows up and the purple led goes on release volume down and the recovery should boot!

Ehm.. Are you sure you didn't just flash a kernel with builtin TWRP recovery? Thats something different and has nothing to with the new bootloader, actually that's what we used to flash a recovery before the update...

Possible but I remembered that my kernel only starts the recovery if the volume down button is tapped every second
and I flashed it via adb shell as fastboot has no access to the fotakernel
just copy the img over to your sdcard and do:
su
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/FOTAKernel
actually there is a recovery img in the latest aosp build for amami, but after flashing the whole rom it bootloops and the recovery is not possible to access
For locked bl also ?
Because i see in the video only unlocked bl !
Bye bye DRM keys or not ?
U have to wait for prebuilt recovery by devs with needed changes or use fxp builds. For now it doesn't work like all thinking.
BTW, for unlocked Bootloader.
Good news, as @dkionline said, recoveries from AOSP builds from fxp works fine here on Z Ultra for example, but they are just pure AOSP ones and for me on ZU, the recovery menu is not visible, there is a Sony logo, then the Android with exclamation mark and pressing Power and Vol+ (on my Nexus 5 it brings the menu) just leaves you with a blank screen.

Hi all.
All the time people ask how unlock bootloader on lollipop. I can tel you how unlock bootloader but you must downgrade your firmware to kitkat.
How do it:
1. Download firmware for your phone from this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-7/general/huawei-mt7-l09-l10-stock-firmware-ota-t3275784.
For MT7-L09 download B120sp04 , for MT7-TL10 download B120sp04.
2. Download downgrade translation pack for your model and flash
3. Now download firmware for MT7-L09 B137sp03 , for MT7-TL10 B125sp02 and flash.
4. Flash KK firmware and when it's finish flash MT7-L09 download B120sp04 , for MT7-TL10 download B120sp04 ( don't turn wifi or data transfer )
5. Now download King Root from this topic and copy to your sdcard ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/one-click-root-tool-android-2-x-5-0-t3107461
6. Go to setting and unlock developer options
7. Install KingRoot and turn your data transfer or wifi and open
8. Click to Root and wait
9. When Finish check you have root option using this app ---> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck&hl=pl
10. If you have root now download and install this app ---> https://mega.nz/#!B1oj1KBB!E1LbkK4h3JkYpqK1KnDaiYDBwRYCfN5EaoyznetEcU0
12. Open app and permission root acess and go to hardware info and write some where WVlock code ( this its your unlock code )
13. Now install adb on you pc ---> https://mega.nz/#!B1oj1KBB!E1LbkK4h3JkYpqK1KnDaiYDBwRYCfN5EaoyznetEcU0
14. Open Cmd as aministration and write;
- cd C:/adb
- adb reboot-bootlader ( don't close cmd )
15. When your phone turn off he go to bootloader mode
16. Now write fastboot oem unlock [your unlock code]
17. When it's finish your bootloader be unlocked ( remember unlock bootloader deleate your data )
18. Now your phone start again to system and when finish write again in cmd :
- adb reboot-bootlader
and now you see phone unlocked
19. Now download twrp for kk from this topic and install ----> http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-7/orig-development/tool-android-4-4-5-1-pc-t3186984
when it's finish try go to twrp using 2 bottom ( vol+ and power in one time)
20. When you go to twrp click reboot and reboot bootloader and flash stock recovery for kk
21. Now flash again rom for your model MT7-L09 download B120sp04 , for MT7-TL10 download B120sp04

Now you have unlocked bootloader installed twrp and supersu.
try and write do this method work because on my MT7-L09 WORK
Cheers :highfive:
thanks for this.
I think there's a better way to do this though.
Systemless root has been around for a while.
Wouldn't it be better to just.
1) unlock the bootloader if locked
2) flash TWRP
3) flash systemless root supersu zip file
4) profit
?
This info on my topic it's correct because I test and now it's work.
Some time people unlock bootloader on lp and they can flash twrp. Full unlock you can do it only on first kk rom

Hi Chudy, I'm not saying it's incorrect.
and appreciate the effort.
I'm only giving an alternative process.
systemless root is full root.
You with about chainfire new method. I read about this and this method it's for 6.0 android. I don't test because I have unlocked bootloader and I can all the time use twrp to flash supersu.zip and root my phone. Do you test chainfire method???

Yeah, systemless root is chainfire's new root method.
Instead of modifying the system partition, it modifies the boot partition.
It was originally done for 6.0 but now works for 5.x
His first versions were just boot.img customised for various devices (ours wasn't) but he later made a method to modify the boot.img straight from recovery.
I haven't tried it as I'm waiting for marshmallow stock OTA, and can't be bothered flashing multiple times, but I have tried it on another device on 5.1.1 and it works well.
I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work on the ascend mate 7
Boot.img it's kernel. If you want flash using fastboot you need unlock bootloader. If I have right to flash anything we must unlock bootloader and we only unlock if we have root and install honor.apk and permission. When you want unlock bootloader using official huawei web site we must wait very long to massage to us with code to unlock. You have right we can use you method to root but any body check this method work. I don't try patch boot.img to flash. Better it's when some developers do it kernel with oc to mt7 with root

Yes, you need unlocked bootloader form the process to work.
Some people might have it unlocked already, and they could just go with the systemless root as an easier alternative.
Or if not, they could combine your process first half (to unlock the bootloader) and mine to root..
simki posted a guide on how to get the huawei unlock code
http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-7/general/bootloader-unlock-code-avoiding-phone-t3247572/page2
that, plus what i just wrote, should be the simplest way.

So I had Cyanogenmod 13 installed on my Huawei P9 Lite VNS-L21 and I decided to go back to stock. I could not find a tutorial how to go back to stock from cyanogenmod so I just flashed the whole zip file which contained UPDATE.APP. Now when I try to boot my phone it shows me a black screen. If I connect my phone to pc it does not recognize it. I then put only the UPDATE.APP in the dload folder and tried updating using the three button method but it says software install failed. I know it was my fault but I somehow missed Meticuluses tutorial --->
How do I get back to stock?
If you have an sdcard and followed the install instructions.
In TWRP: Advanced->Extras->Restore Dump
Reboot System
Now the system will boot up like it's brand new. May take 5mins or so.
Once the system has booted you can reboot back to recovery and restore your back up.
If you do not have an sdcard all you have to do is put system.img and boot.img back on the phone in /emmc and do the 2 commands in reverse and format /data in recovery adb shell like this:
dd if=/emmc/system.img of=dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/system
dd if=/emmc/boot.img of=dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/boot
make_ext4fs /dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/userdata

Uhm, try to open device manager and see if the phone is recognized.
Return to Huawei warranty and tell them its caused due a update...flash stock recovery and lock the bootloader first....i've had this problem also for 10 days.

Hi,
I have the same issue. i want to upgrade to lineage 14.1 but when i tried to upgrade to cm13 after unbricking i went straight into bootloop or brick or something. im not exactly the smartest on this topic aha. have you figured a way to upgrade to lineage os?
Just press and hold power button + volume up+volume down , all three together for few seconds. You'll be in recovery, from there you can go into fastboot(bootloader)
once again its showing the zuk logo only..
is there any solution??
