I need WPS feature and spoof location for daily work but as our Lavender comes with Android 9. It's not possible. I searched for way arounds but nothing seemed to work. So I'm thinking to build a AOSP ROM running Android 8.1.
I don't know where to start from. Anyone can give a headstart?

Hey,
Can anybody tell me if it's possible to root Mate 7, run clean Android 5.0 but somehow keep / install software to automatically unlock Mate 7 by touching fingerprint scanner? (This option is simply great).
No, not at the moment.
I'm looking for the same thing at the moment but it just isn't available. There are a few new ROM's based on Android 4.4.4 if you head over to the Original Android Development section of the AM7, you'll them, but none have working fingerprint scanners. My guess is we won't have anything stock Android 5.0 based with a working fingerprint scanner for a while, if ever. By the time we do, there will probably be a newer and better phone available, as there always is.
I've been wanting to get into porting ROMs, although I'm not too sure how to go about it. I have a few in mind I'd like to attempt to bring to our device. Does anyone have any resources/links/videos on how to go about porting? Everything would be greatly appreciated
Which ROMs do you have in mind? I might be able to help.
P.S: You can look in the LineageOS porting instructions for our device, if that's going to help you!

A few of the ones I've been thinking would be a good fit for this phone is the Pure Nexus Project, Slim7 (Want to get a fully working build of that going, love Slim7 haha), OmniRom, and lastly a MIUI port once I get the basics down.
I use macOS, but also have a virtual machine for both Windows 7 & 10 and Ubuntu and Fedora so any guides across any platforms help.

I know different ROMs use different structures for device trees, but here's a guide to compiling Lineage 14.1 to the G4 Play. This guide is made for Ubuntu 14.04/15.04/16.04, but Fedora might be able to work as well as long as you can get the proper packages installed during the prerequisite steps:
http://wiki.lineageos.org/harpia_build.html
It may not help much with other ROMs, since I'm not sure if the other ROMs support using CM/Lineage based device trees to build, but this will give you the basic instructions on how to download source, get the proprietary blobs/device tree you need, and compile everything to a working zip.
As for actually making device trees for other ROMs to use during compilation, that I don't know myself, and was never really able to find out.
I build on Fedora. If you're using Fedora 25, use these steps to set up a build environment: https://gist.github.com/sultanqasim/09f19221c67c71edd099eb86c6a92467

You couldn't find any, because the RN7 came with Android 9.
Every ROM for the RN7 is based on 9.0 so I don't know why you're asking that question

Yes I know RN 7 was released with Android 9 but I'm asking is there any way to downgrade to lower Android versions.
No, there are no -9 Roms for Lavender.
And i don't think that we will ever get one, as developers focus on Q right now.
Maybe you should try a slightly older phone, like Mi 8 lite, which came with Oreo.

Yes - if you built those lower Android version ROMs yourself. I assume that you will not attempt to do this (because neither will anyone else). So, as long as you want to use lavender, you are stuck.
I've got an opportunity to get a new t380 for free. Can anyone tell me if the OS can still be updated from nougat to pie? Also, considering this is a 2017 build, is it even worth the effort?
Thanks for your thoughts,
dow
Hello, Yes, the device has Android Pie One UI, it is also possable to get twrp and get masigk running, though you will most likey want to stick to Android Nougat beacuse in Android Pie, Masigk is not installing. But this can change. Also there is no custom roms for the 2017 Tab A, but this can change. The tablet will most likey not get android 10, but aleast you will get longer support on Android Pie than on Android Nougat.
Hey guys, I've tried searching around, but I haven't really found what I'm looking for. I finally have a degoogled LineageOS 18 build up. Took me a while but I did it. But now I can't find the same level of tutorial support for getting microg stuff up and running. Notifications are a must for me, so I didn't know if anyone here knew of any good tutorials to get it up and running? Camera also is a thing, but I haven't really tried looking at that yet. I'm going to revert to stock and figure these things out before fully committing. Any help would be great

Hydrogen OS is Google free and a stock rom with full functionality
You could try the custom ROMs and leave out Google If you don't want to have those services.
In regards to OOS you could install xXx and then remove the Google software using the profile.
I know also there is a Microg installer revived magisk module available, but I haven't got to personally test it on OnePlus 8 Pro. I'd sure be interested if this would work okay as an alternative on our device. Thanks
