How to make SIP-calls on Redmi Note 7? I successfully added SIP accounts and receive calls now but it doesn't prompt me what to choose when putting number on dialpad and doesn't offer SIP, only SIM-cards.

Hello. Here is how it works on my Note 7 :
- first, note that, for my SIP account, the server is : sip5.ovh.fr
- if I dial a number, say 0033477112233, the call is systematicaly routed via my SIM card (mobile account).
- then, if I dial [email protected], the call is VoIP, routed via my SIP account (over WiFi or 3G/4G)
So my solution is to dial : [email protected]
I've also successfully tested some alternative solutions, like Mizudroid, Zoiper, GrandStream Wave ..etc..
Hoping this will help, Jocomajo.

Ok if you have all the requirements installed. Then go to Google.com/voice on you PC and click on settings in there and create a Google voice phone number then link a phone number to your Google voice account like your real cell number or even your home number. Then don't use that number but use Google chat. Now when you open Google voice on your phone it should setup correctly. Then open grooveip sign in with your Google user and pass. Then in groove IP make a phone call. It will call from you new Google voice number. And if you call that number it will ring that phone because Google chat/talk is linking it.

If you want don't to deal with Talkatone's in-app ads or want independence from your cell phone, unlike Tablet Talk, then get Google Voice plus $5 Groove IP. Free unlimited calls and SMS text within North America with a standard 10-digit number assigned to your Nexus 7 over WIFI.

I think you can create one-time password even when you don't use two-factor. But that is beside the point as everyone should be using two-factor, there is really no excuse not to secure your account.

You will need to modify the framwork-res.apk to get the dialer to show up.
I did it and it shows up. To add the SIP settings you will need to change your DPI to 320, reboot, add your VOIP setting, change the DPI back to what it was and reboot.
You will then be able to use the native internet calling with the native android dialer.

How would one go about this exactly? What do I need to modify in the framework-res file and where in the filesystem is it? Do I need to be rooted?

I'm also interested to know this, particularly the modification needed for framwork-res.apk
Adding the dialer app would allow for
utilizing the native SIP functions
outbound calling on google voice without using GrooveIP or Tapatalk, both of which are flawed imho.
I use Talkatone myself also for Canadians there is Dell Voice.

This is a very technical procedure and not something I can guide you how to do over a post. Google how to decompile the framework-res.apk. there are a few guides online that can teach you how to do this.

Did you hold down 1 in the dial pad? It should take you directly to your voicemail or have you configure it. It worked that way for me when I was on contract and still works the same using prepaid.

I sure did. It then says, "You've reached the voicemail system. If you have a mailbox on this system, press star...". I proceeded with star and entered my phone number and it says it's "invalid". Lost in terms of why it's asking that. I'm used to the general - setup your mailbox prompt. Some reason, it doesn't exist here.
T-Mobile visual voicemail app works for me. If you're on WiFi, turn it OFF during the initialization. Once you're all setup, you'll be good to go.

I didn't have any problems with my voicemail. I've had T-Mobile for a while and all I did was get a new sim card and had it activated and my voicemail was working with no problems at all with my Nexus. Also I found this from T-Mobile support...
"To access the voicemail main menu, follow these steps:
Note: Make sure you are not roaming when attempting to set up voicemail for the first time.
1.Dial 123 or hold down the 1 key
2.Press Send.
3.Enter the last 4 digits of your mobile number as your voicemail password.
4.Follow the tutorial to set up your voicemail password and greeting.
Note:
•If you decline to set up the voicemail password and/or greeting, the tutorial plays each time until you set up both the password and greeting. Therefore, it is optimal to activate both features during initial setup."
Also if that doesn't work try calling your cell number from your land line and hit * when you get your voicemail if it lets you.
Are calls to T-Mobile voicemail count toward 100 minutes($30 plan) limit?

I appreciate your help! I definitely thought the same. After contacting T-MO, they said that the feature has been turned off. I have no clue how this has happened when the only change has been me ordering a micro-sim and activating it.. Weird! But all is well..

I recently got a Nexus 4 to replace my Galaxy Nexus and am trying to set up Google voice. I set it to make all calls using my Google voice number, which is how I had it set up on my old phone. When I call certain contacts, it works perfectly and uses my GV number. Other contacts don't work. When I select a number for them, it goes to the dialer with the number already filled in. However the call is already started in the background and uses my real phone number instead of the GV number.
I've tried uninstalling GV and re-installing and the same thing happened. I've also tried setting GV to ask me whether to use GV for each call. In that case, the contacts that worked before still worked. The ones that didn't give me the popup to choose, however the call is already started in the background using the wrong number.
It seems like the 6 or 7 numbers in my contacts list that have a 919 area code are the ones that don't work properly. All the other numbers I tried worked correctly. I'm really confused.
I've been using GV for years and never had this issue. Anyone have any ideas?

Hmmm... The ones that won't go through GV don't match a valid pattern for some reason, therefore the go out the standard dialer. I would verify that the number has all 10 or 11 (with +1) digits with no extra characters like spaces. I just put a random 919 number in my contacts and tried it and it worked fine via GV.

Very interesting. I added changed the number from
(xxx) xxx-xxxx
to

And now Google voice works correctly. There are still a few things I don't understand.
1. I don't have the +1 for any other of my out of state phone numbers and they work fine.
2. Before I got my Nexus 4, these same numbers worked fine though Google voice on my Galaxy Nexus.
At least I know a workaround now. Thanks.

Shame that Samsung disabled it. I'm on T-Mobile version of Galaxy Note 4. With this SIP widget, I was able to bring up the account setup page. But I still could not make calls through VOIP. WTF
No more SIP after Lollipop
After Lollipop Update unfortunately Sip Widget stops working as well. Anyone out there with a working soution? Native support preferred... Thanx!
It seems to be a API change on lollipop. SIP Switch Widget is aware of that (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.siebeck.sipswitch).
So there is still hope.
Native SIP on a Samsung Phone
Hi All, I've had a problem trying to locate the native sip details on my Samsung mobile and could not find it in the normal place, after much searching on the internet everyone was suggesting installing a third party app I wasn't keen on that.
After a few days playing around with the phone, I managed to find it, you will need to trick the phone below is how i done it
1. you will need go on you pc, open up your browser, go to the google page then sign into you gmail account that is associated the phone
2 then click Gmail on the left hand side clickGmail then select contacts
3. you will then need to create a new contact for example 'Office' in the phone field type 'Extension [email protected] or dns name', ie [email protected] or [email protected], then save
4. Now go into you phones contacts, you will see the contact Office now dial it, then phone will then say there is internet call setting you will need to add it, add all the required details and press save, wait till the phone says registered if not edit and check the details. Once this section of the settings gone there is no way to find it again so be careful
To make a sip call you will need to log on to google via a browser and add a new phone details under an existing name or create new details 'Extension [email protected] or dns name'
This works for me and I hope it works for you

Worked for me, thanks!
The first time I tried to add the account (I use voip.ms) it didn't allow me to save. I had entered data into a couple of the optional fields. It let me hit discard, so I discarded and added again. This time, I didn't add any optional fields. It accepted my account info and displayed it in the accounts list. I then edited the freshly added SIP account and added the data into the optional fields which it this time let me save.
Damn you Samsung, damn you....
Tried on Verizon Note 3... Worked!
Tried on Verizon Note 3, But I need to change the settings again! Anyway to clear without resetting the phone? What is the file location for the settings? Can we just edit the XML File. I remember doing something like that years ago!

Any Idea about same in Note 5?
Probably partly solution
Well, still have no official solution. So I dare to offer you one which works for me:
1. You should to install any app that give you ability to activity access (something like QuickShortcut Maker - sorry can't post links by rules restrictions)
2. Run it and find there in activities dropdown menu: Phone "com.android.phone", and there: Phone "Sip Settings (com.android.phone/com.android.services.telephony.sip.SipSettings)". Tap on it and choose "Create" link.
After these actions you will have ability to manage your SIP accounts.
Tested on SM-N910F 5.1.1
Hope it will help you folks and burn in hell Samsung for these disrespectful jokes.

Hi,
Sorry to bother you but what version ROM are you using?
I've updated to N910FXXS1DQC3 which is 6.0.1 and I still can't seem to access the SIP menu without the workaround.
Also, it seems broken to me as outgoing calls are making a loud static sound while incoming calls are fine.
Thanks.
