Looks like Xiaomi turned down the max volume by a little in the Miui 11 update. Now ringtones and music sound a little low on full blast.

Hey guys, I'm new here and enjoying my silver Mate 8 to the fullest but I have a question for you all. The sound of my Mate 's speaker sounds solid when the volume is half way but when I crank it up the sound is getting distorted and not as clear as volume low or half way. Is this normal for this phone or could I have a bad unit? Also, when a sound (music, Youtube etc.) is finished playing i hear a soft static for 1 or 2 seconds followed by a click. The click is only noticable when I'm in a quiet room or if put the speaker to my ear. Is my OCD getting the better of m:silly:e or is this really an issue for a phone swap?
Thanks in advance!
I guess it is normal. Comparing to s6 edge. The speaker of mate 8 produce better sound quality In medium volume (give mean impression of wow, never hear the vocal and music instrument mix so well. Where s6 edge vocal is clear but instrument sounded too tight together.)
. But if compare both on max volume. Mate 8 indeed suffer some distortion and not clear.

Oke thanks. And the clicking sound after each sound is normal or might be a hardware/software issue (see a lot of 'complaints' about this issue on all brands)? I just played a Facebook video and noticed a much softer click than with the system sounds/music. You should expect the sound to be the same all around if it is the speaker going off. Weird.

i love my mate 8 its really a good device but i have only one issue with it, its the low speaker volume i noticed this since the first day i got it (speaking from an ex. samsung note 5 user) i can surely say that the note 5 speaker is much louder and its so strange how big the difference is so i was thinking that maybe i have a defective mate 8?
I have recently changed from the redmi note 2 to an Asus Pegasus two plus and one thing I realized was that the sound quality while wearing headphones were much worse. I then realized that the redmi note 2 had a sound enhancer where I just had to select the type of headphone I had(in ear) and the quality would improve. I would like to replicate this on my new phone, and I have messed around the equalizer to no avail. Help!
Porting Dirac from MIUI seems possible. But you may still miss the Equalizer UI. Presets can be tweaked via setprop.

try viper4android and use lock effect headset mode using clarity enhancer.
So it's not a secret that the S8 is not as good as let's say HTC 10 for audio, yesterday I tried my own earphones on a S8 and while the volume is loud enough, you feel it still need a small volume boost and certainly a better dynamic range and clarity.
So for people who tried on their Exynos S8 V4A or V4 Arise, what do you think of the sound quality?
Can you reproduce the Boomsound deep sound quality or not really?
I am talking small earphones like KZ and Xiaomi Pistons

No idea about the HTC10 but I have a M8 and a S8, the M8 can drive my big sennheiser HD 215's easily to proper listing levels where as the S8 can not but but for the Momentum IEM's both are very evenly matched I am using PowerAmp+V4A on both and with a bit of equalizer magic it sounds awesome on both and the lack of punch is taken care off using the Preamp slider.
There is only one thing I noticed that paints the S8 in a bad light that is shuttering overwhelming bass in certain tracks but that can be taken care of with use of the "Limit" tab but it introduces a weird wavy effect thus I found it best to turn the bass a bit low. The end result is the S8 and the M8 with similar audio signatures but a little less bass on the S8.
Also for higher volume you can also use this:

and I followed this guide for V4A:

The audio strength is too low in custom roms as compared to miui . Any fixes?
I am having the same problem with latest lineage 15.1 nightly. Any fix?
The problem is with the dust inside the speaker! Watch tutorial videos of cleaning the dust above the speaker and so. I had the issue since a year and after cleaning its all good! Maybe the quality in miui is good then custom roms but yes there's no much difference!
Flash any zip file from this thread - https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-redmi-3s/development/redmi-3s-custom-rom-loud-speaker-volume-t3602323
Or flash ViperFX or DolbyAtmos on your Redmi 3s and you'll be good to go.
Cleaned up the speaker grill and holy crap, the sound just doubled! Thank you Jayant!
