Hello,
I just got a Redmi Note 7 Chinese variant but I live in India and the Chinese MIUI isn't that great. I want to change it to the global ROM. I have the fastboot ROM downloaded and even the recovery ROM. I'm hoping that someone has already addressed the issue but I'm posting this because I'm not able to find any. My phone is currently running MIUI China 10.2.13 and it has received the 10.3.4 update. I haven't updated it since it might increment the arb index. Can anyone give me a confirmed, safe and working method to change my software from China to Global? I understand the risks of bootloader unlocking and all.

Hey guys,
I bought a X722 version of Le Pro 3 a few days ago on Banggood. I know about the disadvantages of this particular version, but I'm fine with staying on EUI (I used Small EUI by Aurel on my old Le Max 2 and I was happy with it.) But I'm wondering about the ROMs.
The phone will come with international version of EUI (I think it's modded 20s,) as it does from the other abroad shops. Here's my question. I know that this version doesn't have OTA updates. Is it worth it to put in the official ROM and then update to the last one (26s) with the locked bootloader? Because some people say that it's worth it, some say it isn't - but I didn't find any changelogs or anything that would prove me that anyone of those two groups is right.
Also various sources tell that X722 has an unlocked bootloader with the default international version of ROM. That's fine, but what are the advantages of it, talking strictly about X722? It looks like there isn't any TWRP and root available for this phone (and if it is, can someone post a link please?) so what is the advantage then? Or do I just have bad info and those are available?
Thanks
Manual from X720/X727 is applicable to X722. You can install TWRP and SuperSU
Thank you, that's awesome to know! So many topics and articles about X722 say that you can't put those on it, so I was kind of already accepting the fact that I'll just end with everything stock. So that kind of answers even my second question - there's no point in going to the version with locked BL, even though it's newer. Thanks again.
Hi,
I also had an x722. I got EUI 5.8.0.20S with the Shopping ROM from GeekBuying. Installing TWRP worked but after I tried to flash the newest official ROM the phone bricked and there was no hope because the bootloader is locked. Now I shipped it back to GeekBuying.
Thank you for the info, that's really good to know - so no ROM flashing for me, absolutely not worth the risk.
1. There is no TWRP for X722
2. There are people installing TWRP for X720
3. Almost all X722 brick happens when upgrading to 26S by TWRP
4. I would not use TWRP of X720
5. If you want to update to 26S (bootloader is blocked) updates from phone, NOT FROM TWRP OF X720.
Greetings.
Thanks a lot for the info! So the problem is in the not fully compatible TWRP, not in the ROM itself. I don't want to update to 26S anymore, but I guess TWRP from X720 is good enough for root and flashing other stuff than whole ROMs, so that's it.

Yes it does. I bought a Chinese version, waited for 15 days to unlock bootloader, then installed EU rom. You can choose to install official global but EU Global is an slightly improved version of the Global. Either one works fine.
I had no problem flashing the ROM. Just make sure you follow all the steps as explained.

Xiaomi EU is based in MIUI chinese version and comes with ARB disabled. It's not recommended to flash a global ROM in the chinese version because it could brick the device.
Hello.
Hope you can help because I'm kinda confused atm
My device is redmi note 7 lavender, came stock with EEA (european global) rom.
I recently unlocked the bootloader, installed twrp, tried a few roms (xiaomi.eu, crdroid, phh-treble gsi, etc). Currently using crdroid without issues.
Previous to all this I was using stock EEA 10.3.2.0 firmware and then sideloaded ota for 10.3.3.0.
According to this post this phone has ARB
What I'm wondering is if I were to go back to stock firmware, would I brick my device? Because the only available fastboot version for EEA is 10.3.2.0 which is older I guess, but I'm not sure exactly how ARB works and it that would trigger it.
Thanks in advance
I recommend that you do not return to the previous version, sometimes the ota bring changes in the bootloader, and you can leave it hardbrick as it happened with several Motorola, even with devices that have a Qualcom processor. Expect that someone else has done it or that the software is released to an equal version.
start to investigate the changes that were added
I leave this link you fence to interest move from the EEA to the global version

If you're asking specifically about turning back from 10.3.3 to 10.3.2, then there is no problem (I went from 10.3.3 to 10.3.2 to 10.3.3 again and everything is ok).

My RN7 is global, came with 10.2.3.0 as stock, I updated via OTA to 10.3.5.0, and I was wondering if I try rolling back to 10.2.7.0 (As I didn't find any rom of 10.2.3.0 for global PFGMIXM) it will trigger the ARB? thanks in advance (both have lvl 4 in adb query)
Don't. Just bricked my phone.

Sorry to bother but, did you bricked going from which-to-rom, using TWRP or the mi-flashtool?

Rolling back firmware only through twrp, trying to get previous drivers for international version which bug less on proximity sensor.
As the phone is unlocked I might have found a way to restore from brick without physically opening the phone. Will keep you updated.
Edit/Update: yipeee!!
Need to completely flash the phone based on the procedure detailed here. And reflash whatever custom ROM afterwards as you get back to stock.
Just rolled back from Global 10.3.5.0 to 10.2.7.0 with MI Flash Tool (fastboot rom type). 0 problems, seems you can rollback from your MIUI 10 ROMS of the same version(EEA with EEA, Global with Global, etc, and of course that these roms have same ARB 4), at least worked for me, posting this future records.
Actually firmware tool (as opposed to twrp) is the way I reset ARB.
I'm planning on buying Oneplus 8 Pro from China, then convert it into Global Rom. Does anyone know if flashing global rom will allow the device to receieve auto updates on the OS? Also will I be able to relock the bootloader after flashing the global rom?
Has anyone tried this? Thank you!
Yes you will receive updates. I've got the Chinese version and the seller flashed with official global rom.

Hi. As title says could someone share this tool for the CN HydrogenOS OP8P? No results show up online. There's a similar thread for the Oneplus 7T Pro Mclaren Edition.
Just in case, for safekeeping.
Thanks!

Could you elaborate a bit:
What OOS did you have on your device prior to using international MSM?
Was it EU OOS, US OOS? They are actually the same software wise i think but it's not the same region.
Does your fingerprint still work after using the tool?

Ok so basically:
1.You bought your phone from China, it's the IN2020 chinese OP8P.
2.When you received it, you already had OOS on it, the seller made sure to flash it before shipping.
3. Can you tell me what was the latest OOS version you had prior to switching to DP4?
International/North American OOS is 10.5.13.IN11AA
European OOS is 10.5.12.IN11BA
I live in EU and once my device arrives i wanna make sure if the seller put EU OOS on it, in the case i brick the phone i can safely use the MSM tool which is tied to my OOS region.
Basically my confusion is: do i have to use the MSM tool of the device region or the MSM tool of the software region? That's it.
From what i understand, you had International / NA OOS on a Chinese phone and used international MSM and all works fine. Which means it's based on software region and not the device itself.
Thanks a bunch
