Anyone have bad wifi with the K20? My Redmi Note 5 Pro was better than this and had stable 5ghz all around the house. K20 has far worse wifi reception in 5ghz band.
I can't get it to work. But I am using custom rom...

I came from the Note 5 Pro too and my mi9t has much better 5GHz reception on my home, where the Note had only 3 bars, the mi9t is full signal

Maybe Mi 9t has different wifi hardware. Also I don't understand how K20 can have bad wifi reception as compared to note 5 pro.

Since some time I know that the Oppo Find 7 modem is compatible with the OPO as the two devices share almost everything of the parts. I tried to make a Firmware package based on 241 from the OPO and replace the modem with the latest modem for the Find 7 (from v2.1.5i Color OS) and what can I say, I got much better reception in general. Less dropouts, stable LTE at work, where I only sometimes got unstable LTE with the 241 modem.
Feel free to try and report. I'm not responsible if anything breaks, although I can say my phone works without a problem.

- 241 base from Oneplus One
- NON-HLOS.bin from latest stable Color OS v2.1.5i (Oppo Find 7)

Modem shouldn't have anything to do with wifi. However I am also facing some wifi drops even with the stock OPO modem (Can't use any Sultan build because of wifi problems at home, standard Lineage works ok but also disconnects sometimes)

As compared to original 241 it doesn't have any benifit on other hand it ruined my LTE network no network at all, after scanning it gots for a seconds and goes away.
Reverted back and everything is fine. I am not blaming but sharing my original experience.

Has anyone found an miui rom for our device? Is anyone planning to port it? (Bump the thread if you're interested so more devs will see it!)
IIRC Xiaomi published a marshmallow compatible patchrom, which won't work with N. You'll have to wait till they release a new one and that, unfortunately, won't be anytime soon (, I think).
sad that it wont come anytime soon :/

Why aren't you guys considering a Xiaomi phone? I mean, they have some badass hardware if you'd want it, and you would get a MIUI experience that doesn't suck.
Can i ask what the big deal is about miui?

- Mi phones does not support 4G-network in Sweden.
- Mi phones have a high price in Sweden (Mi6 for example = $700)
- Mi phones have a really weird bootloader unlock process.
And go on. In Sweden does Xiaomi phones have higher prices than iPhones and Galaxys. That's why I use 1+ instead!
When using portable hotspot in MIUI other devices can connect but have no internet connectivity. This issue is not present in any other Oreo ROM.
Anyone have any ideas for a fix?

MIUI 10 is still in alpha, some Xiaomi devices don't even have functioning hotspot on those builds.
Either way, after some digging I found a fix. Here it is.

Either way, the fix is shared above for anyone else who has that issue.
Hmm was just looking at a MIUI video on YouTube yesterday, as I've bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 5.
From what I remember seeing, that's a MIUI bug that has been fixed in the latest stable release?

It seems to me as if production of this phone has stopped. Is that true? I can hardly buy a new phone on Amazon and prices for them are pretty high lately.
Does anybody know anything?
If that phone is not available anymore, is there any other recent phone which runs Lineage and is less than 200€?
The xiaomi redmi note 5 pro already has an official lineage 15.1 release, so you might wanna check that out.

Seems to be unavailable in Germany. Or is "pro" the same als "plus": https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07CZS8W5Y
Edit: seems that LOS is working for that phone: https://www.amazon.de/ask/questions/Tx9VH4UFC499GY
I think the link you sent is the right one. Just make sure it's the one with the Snapdragon 636. Xiaomi (and other retailers) can really mess up with the names.

I read that Xiaomi set waiting time up to two month before allowing the unlocking of a bootloader! I wouldn't want to wait such a long time to start using LOS on the device.

You should check if it is that way today.
Is it possible to unlock the bootloader on this device? Because I don't see any roms or twrp. I was maybe gonna buy one but not if there is no development.
Not possible as of now. Perhaps will never be possible. Don't buy the device if you're into rooting, etc. Better get K20 Pro.
