Pixel 3 can't do Dual SIM Dual Standby, because it only has 1 IMEI. Pixel 3a CAN, because it's the first Pixel with two IMEIs...
There's no reason to think Pixel 4 won't have Dual SIM Dual Standby capabilities, but I haven't seen any confirmation in specs...
Anyone?
Someone in Reddit pointed me to a box screenshot where you can see two IMEIs. So yes, Pixel 4 will have DSDS.
Good!

I saw in the specs yesterday that esim and physical SIM were available. I believe it was on the Google page but not sure exactly where I saw it. I ordered on the spot and will trade in my crippled P3. With the 100 credit it'll run me under 5 hundred which isn't too bad. Still thinking about swappa but for the extra hundred it might not be worth the hassle.

I knew Pixel 4 had eSIM support and phsical SIM. But I need DSDS, which means that both SIMs can receive calls and SMS (and you can choose which of both to use to open pdp context, and make calls/texts) as last year IPhones and also Pixel 3a. Now I'm sure, and I'm happy.
Thanks.

Yes, a good point. The P3 had eSim capability but not dsds. After the 3a came with two IMEI and the iPhones will have it going forward I can't ever see that feature being deprecated. Now that being said, one question that still irks me is will Verizon allow eSim on their P4s? As of now even the 3a from Verizon has the eSim disabled. And what about other carriers that are now selling the P4? Will they follow VZW lead, lock their bootloaders and cripple the device?
I can confirm that yes, DSDS is currently supported.

Never buy a device from them. It's worth half the value of half what they say. Buy a pixel 4 from them for 200 and not a penny more. And it's not even worth that much. How did they get to be so bad for the consumer?

So would an unlocked P4 esim work with vzw since it should not be disabled?

Highly doubt it. As of now only esim from iPhone is supported by Verizon.
It's finally happened...DSDS on verizon pixel 4
Finally. It seems they did not remove physically the esim in pixel 4. And now they enabled it by software update. But no mention of Pixel 3 or 3A. I guess those are disabled physically and can't be software enabled....
I"m not sure if my unlocked PIxel 3A XL from google store can have DSDS enabled.

I've been wondering if the P4 series (from Verizon) could utilize DSDS with the physical sim VZW and the eSim something else like Fi or TM. I know in the 3 / XL it didn't work at all, even DSSA, single active. The Google version could utilize single active dual sim, however, and I'm sure you still have that capability. It was the entire line of 3s that didn't allow dual standby. I believe that to be because there was only one IMEI and thus even after testing it on a beta version of 10 (I think it was B2) it was pulled by Google for good. The test for you now would be to see if you can activate the eSim on Verizon with the April update on the 3XL for single active, that's as good as you'll get until you get the 4a
Have an unlocked P4 purchased from Best Buy on vzw network. I've been unable to activate my personal phone number onto the eSIM slot after several hours of tech support with Verizon. The summary is, "Verizon is not yet ready" for the Pixel 4 DSDS.
My goal is to run two Verizon lines from my Pixel, but always keeping my personal number in the SIM2 eSIM slot

I'd like to do the opposite but basically the same thing. I'm not surprised they are clueless at this point. There should not be hoops to jump thru but simply scan a code, put in your phone number and done. Although it's been some time since I activated the eSim on Fi. I forgot exactly how it worked. I also wonder if having both numbers on the same network is problematic.
From what they told me, Verizon + Verizon won't be a problem. And it looks like it should be as easy as scanning the QR code. I'm not sure if I'm having a problem because I'm trying to first provision my physical SIM onto the eSIM, or if the system just doesn't allow it yet. Probably the latter bc the Teir 2 lady told me only the Razr and iPhone supports DSDS for now

The eSim seems to be enabled on the Verizon branded Pixel 4 with the April update but I've not seen anyone yet that has eSim on the Verizon network. That will be the factor we're waiting for. Tier 2 is useless, they have no idea what DSDS even is. I'd say in a month or so someone will get it figured out and then we can transition.

It appears only the Verizon branded Pixel 4 work. I have an unlocked P4 from Google and was not able to activate the esim. My wife luckily got a P4 from Verizon and had no issues activating it. I did have to talk to a tier 2 technical support person though. It is working without an issue similar to how an iPhone dsds works.

The form factor and all the internals look identical to our variant. This is good news.

man can't wait. I really hope this one will support Tmo band, love the specs and the battery life.
Funny thing is, 3 hour SOT in my nexus 5 considered good battery life, while in this beast 6 hours SOT is some kind of "weak"? Wth? This is QHD. I absolutely love this phone despite a lot of hater out there are screaming everyday
I don't see this released to a few countries alone, I'm thinking more likely it will international with broad release but excluding the US. In other words Clove and the rest are going to have it for sale and getting it will be strictly a matter of dropping the plastic. But then again maybe that's just wishful thinking.
The US Droid Turbo works on International networks via GSM, right? So if this one has identical hardware, less branding, it could potentially work on VZW, right?

Not exactly. It would need a CDMA radio. Then it would need to support Verizon LTE bands. And then even if they pulled a Nexus 6, because of the CDMA radio, Verizon would have to allow it on the network, which is doubtful because they want to sell you a Droid Turbo.

I was thinking of how the Nexus 6 worked out of the box, even though it didn't really come from Verizon. Not sure how relevant that is in this case, though. It makes sense, but I don't want it to :/

No one really knows how Verizon is handling the activation of the Nexus 6. Droid-Life was able to pop a Verizon sim in their review unit and it worked. Maybe Google is giving them all the Id numbers and they are just allowing any Nexus 6 to activate in their network? I guess we will see when someone buys one directly from T-Mobile and see if it makes calls.

I'm guessing something similar happened with the Moto X 2013. I bought it from Moto, and it was branded as Verizon. I'd assume Moto told VZW here are all the serials for the VZW XT1060 models. With the Nexus, they may have just given them all of the numbers for all the devices, because I'm guessing you don't specify which carrier you have when you purchase, unless you're doing an upgrade.

My guess is they just have the full list of IMEIs.
Something tells me the United States is going to be excluded from this. Im sure it can be imported, but thats just going to jack the price up beyond being worth it.

Since the device HAS passed through FCC as IHDT56PK2 (the droid turbo is IHDT56PK1... the PK2 adds in UMTS/AWS = tmobile 3G), one can assume that they do intend to sell it within the US.
The FCC is a US regulatory body, and is only required for importing into the US.

Many devices pass through the FCC and don't ever appear from US consumption. While somewhat promising, its not nearly a sure thing.
Verizon may have an exclusivity right on the model preventing it from being sold on other carriers. At least for the time being. But there's been no press about it being released in the united states, so one can on speculate at this point.
Keep in mind that only means it can be legally imported, it does not show intent to sell. Similar processes are followed throughout much of the world and two variants of a GSM phone can cover most of them. There is little reason not to get FCC certification since it is not an expensive or difficult process within the confines of the larger effort involved in global release and one of the handsets will be suitable for use in the states anyway. I'm not saying its not going to happen, I'm saying the filing does not make it a certainty and more than one phone has seen certification without being sold in the US.
Also to the thread in general the spread of possible IMEIs are public record, Verizon need only block out the range specified for a device in order to block it, they do not need specific numbers off individual devices which are not public record.
Both Motorola and Verizon have verified that the pure edition moto x, which is set up for T-Mobile, will work on Verizon as is. That phone is unlockable and rootable. And it would have the added advantage of being eligible for Moto Care protection plan - two year extended warranty covering accidents for $89. If anyone has a reason why this option is not viable please post it here.

according to verizon, the hardware is the same in both phones, the cdma band just hasn't been activated, and this can be done by verizon. I'm still waiting for an imei number from a pure edition to verify that. If I can't get one, I'll buy a phone and try it. I have at least 7 days to return it for a full refund.

Please let me know if that will really work, because I want to buy a Pure Edition so bad!!!!
Thanks
I'm traveling until the middle of next week, so have patience - I'll be getting to it when I return. I'm committed to trying to put a pure edition on Verizon, at very least as proof as concept, even if I end up just getting another DE.
So is this kind of like the nexus 6 being able to run on Verizon if you throw an already active Sim card in it?
---------- Post added at 11:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:25 PM ----------
It doesn't look like the pure edition supports LTE band 13 that Verizon uses. You'd only get band 4 in select areas. Also doesn't appear to have a CDMA radio as shown on Motorola's website.

Yes, my old sim card in the pure edition. Also, it seems to me much more likely that the bands are all physically present but selectively disabled in firmware rather than motorola making variations on the phone with different hardware. Which was what they basically verified two different times. So I'll try. Orders are running 11 days out, so it will be a while before I can say if this works or not.

So you have a pure on order?
Judging by how you have to put the nexus 6 on Verizon I'd say throwing an already active Sim card in it is more likely the path. I very much doubt a T-Mobile imei will work. Also I was thinking you might need to flash new modem firmware, perhaps the one from the Verizon edition to activate the CDMA radio and band 13, possibly an entire Verizon ROM. Anyone else have this thought?

Yes, you would likely have to do that. The problem is all of the Verizon Moto X 2014 are bootloader locked so how do you get the Verizon firmware?

The OTAs are just patches, not the full firmware. I believe Motorola Device Manager updates are the entire firmware file but I am not sure how you get at them with a bootloader locked phone.

I suspect it will indeed work on VZW, all 3 models have the same modelid (ATT, TMO, VZW)...
Jeff Gordon pretty much confirmed it...https://twitter.com/urbanstrata/status/719949958166786048?s=15
I see it as the same situation as the 6P. Verizon didnt "officially certify" it for their network, but since it had the correct bands it worked with an already activated sim card.
I preordered an unlocked HTC 10 and plan on popping in my 6p VZW sim card.
Now does it matter that HTC site lists the 850 frequency (which verizon uses for their 3g) under 2G/2.5G - GSM/GPRS/EDGE?
I am wondering the same my friend..it will be a must buy it so and I can use it on any carrier at anytime! It's probably too good to be true though all of ever heard is how Verizon is very strict on what phones they will let on their network ? If I have to get the Verizon version, then I will have to wait on bootloader unlock before purchase Crossing fingers
MoNsTeReNeRgY22, Post back once you get the phone and pop in your sim.... The sim from my iPhone 6Plus should work to I would guess?
Verizon is less strict than you think. They're picky about the phones they certify and sell, but if a phone has the right radios, you can usually get it to work on V by just inserting a pre-activated SIM.
I've heard a rumor that Verizon will be getting an exclusive launch ahead of the US competition with this phone. It'd be nice if the unlocked model is the same. Perhaps they'll put some software locking that we can easily circumnavigate? Being able to travel with my M8 and pop in a local GSM SIM has been a huge benefit.
So it's not looking good. Android Police in their quick write up tried a already activated VZW sim and it was a no go.

Yeah I suspect so, If it does indeed work on Verizon, Im sure Verizon dosent want them advertising it. My only fear is when I receive it, it does work, but if I am out of ranfe for LTE and it has to drop down to 3G, will it work.. I guess we shall see!? I did see that HTC has a 14 day return policy. If I cant get it to work in the 14 days, then I will just wait for a bootloader unlock for the Verizon model. Anyone thats up to date and knows the 3G and LTE bads real well? Does this unlocked edition have all the necessary bands for both 3G and LTE, on VZW? I know a bit, but dont know them all.

Yup agreed and I think its actually a 30 day return policy. See HTC.com America store by Digital River refund policy
And according to Wireless Carrier Cheat Sheet, the unlocked version supports Verizon CDMA ( CDMA: 800/1900 with EVDO Rev A). I screenshotted the supported bands of the unlocked HTC 10, the VZW HTC M9 and and VZW LG G5. All support the same bands (CDMA included). I circled the same CDMA bands for reference (Ignore my crude paint skills).

A guy linked this to me: http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_10_goes_by_fcc_ahead_of_announcement-news-17569.php
It shows 2 separate models 2PS6200 and 2PS6500
Hopefully this is not one of them being GSM, and the other being the CDMA model?

Even if there are separate models, does it matter since the tech specs for the unlocked variant list all the bands we need anyways?

Yeah thats the way it certainly seems. Someone pointed out though that it could be showing the bands for both models as a whole.... It does not sound convincing, but something to think about.

2PS620000 is for Europe, that article may be wrong about it hitting the FCC...doesn't make sense
2PS650000 is for US GSM (ATT & TMO) & VZW
Sprint will have a different modelid...

TASTY!
Read the whole thread and it looks like the unlocked HTC 10 might work on Verizon. Great news. I DON'T WANT VERIZON BRANDED DEVICE EVER AGAIN. I looked at the specs on the website and saw LTE bands 3,4,13 which is what Verizon uses AFAIK. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Whoever ordered the device please update us as soon as you get your device.
Thank you

For those of you that have not gotten a 935T - don't ! If you must have a S8+, get a 955f
I wasted time with a TMo 935T, and got tired of the TMo run-around and the limited options even AFTER it was rooted. My 935f gets TMo bands 2,4, and 12, and I have WiFi and VoLTE - and am not looking back. Will never buy another TMo branded device again.
As for a 955+, I will live with a S8+ port for now - don't see enough in the new device to justify getting one at this point. Plus - with Duelboot, I have 2 other ROMs up, and don't know if duelboot will handle the S8 and S8+ anytime soon.

I totally agree with you about the F model but not everyone has $800-1000 laying around to buy a phone out right. That's why most people go with carrier branded phones, so they can make small monthly payments and have a premium flagship every year.

Thus far, to my knowledge, there isn't an unlocked snapdragon variant out yet and emulation on the snapdragon is far superior than the exynos. Thus I don't mind getting a T-Mobile (my current carrier) variant since samsung did an excellent job with most of the software in my opinion and most modifications I used to use a custom ROM for are present. Just another perspective.

That is what credit cards are for - unless you are maxed out. Then you should not be buying things you don't really need - lol.
PS - saw one on eBay $34/month.
If you are happy with shock ROMs and modifications, then stay stock. But there ware many who got the 935T, and were very unhappy about the locked bootloader. they are the ones who should go this route.
You still miss the wifi calling feature. The simple way around that is probably setting up Google voice and have the phone calls forwarded to Hangout in case you have wifi.

True! With T-Mobile you defiantly need Wifi-Calling as their service sucks. At my home sometimes calls don't come through or go out without wifi calling.
I only switched originally for the unlimited data that I could use outside the house and for bootloaders being unlockable. But now, everybody has unlimited data, and everybody has locked bootloaders. Maybe its time to go back to the King of cellular service, Verizon.

I have Wi-Fi working on all S7 ROMs. I believe they will have it soon on S8.
Basically just flash the correct CSC and it works.

Until Samsung US has a program like TMO JoD, I stay with TMO. Do that and Samsung will have my money going forward.

Have fun with that lol... Since TMO has forced everyone else to go Unlimited all of their networks have been getting hammered hard because their technology can't handle it... TMO's can and they just bought up a ton of spectrum and are working on REAL 5G, not the fake 5G that Verizon and AT&T is trying to sell to people. Just take a look at this... https://www.facebook.com/JohnJLegere/videos/1672156373089908/
If it don't have wifi calling it is useless. It the main reason I came over to T-Mobile years ago. To many dead spots and zones. With wifi calling makes all the difference in the world. Us when I break it TMobile takes it back and gives me a fresh one to break lol.

As I said, I have Wi-Fi calling on s7e international roms. It is being worked on for s8 and I would expect it to happen soon.

WiFi calling at least for t mobile is a kernel feature. Simply flashing a csc does not make it work. I have the international rom on my phone and I cannot get the WiFi calling to work no matter what. You can search through the link you posted to see no one could actually get the WiFi calling to work for the mobile. Unless you post a screen shot of your international phone showing that the WiFi calling actually works on the mobile network.
Actually the comments on ATT and Vz regarding 5g are inaccurate. ATT for example had been working with Samsung directly in testing New 5g technologies in certain cities....no bull****
If I buy the 955F and use on tmobile what works out of the box? Does VoLTE work and band 12?

Yeah I ended up not risking it. I picked up the Verizon S8+ through the deal on Samsung ($250 off with any trade in). I flashed the unlocked firmware yesterday and everything is working on T-Mobile.

Forgot about this, but getting WiFi calling to work on international 935F is pretty universal. Did it first by flashing TMB CSC on King ROMs, and later on Echoe - no problems.
Only problem so far is with S8 Ports - WiFi calling works, but calls to other phones on the same network on LTE disconnect when answered - NO ONE has been able to get by this.

5G not an option now, lost access to LTE
This is bs, but it also means they completely pulled even LTE access...

Might want to remove that language
Seems Verizon is trying to monopolize where you buy phones, chances are most people don't know about this limitation before they buy it.
Where did you buy your phone from?

Amazon a couple months ago. Worked just until 11/13. Easy few months of service with minimal issues
so i was researching if i want to get this phone and i found something that might help you. take a look at this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/verizon/comments/je9hai/nationwide_5g_on_oneplus_8_pro/ and the instructions here: https://mt-tech.fi/en/modify-oneplus-7-pro-5g-8-and-8-pro-nr-lte-a-band-combos/
I just got a 8 Pro and last night got a system update that seems to have enabled 5g. under connections my automatic network selector now shows an option with 5G added and im getting LTE+ that shows when I'm using data. now my speed test shows I'm getting almost triple my download speeds now at 148Mbs or so down . I honestly wasn't expecting any type of 5g access with how Verizon can be with non-branded devices.
Maybe you need to get the update to have it work like i did but just thought i would share since it just happened
This likely won't help you if you bought Verizon's 8 pro (rather than from OP or Amazon, unlocked). Sorry, but I'll just include the following:
I had been with Verizon for years, and then switched from Samsung to OP 8P. Love the OP. But Verizon poorly supports this device if it's BYOD. I couldn't get VOWifi or VOLTE, among other things.
After searching on XDA, I found the OP 7 Pro logkit.apk and used that for a bit, and it *did* give me VOLTE and VOWifi (you have to use some USSD codes to get to some behind-the-scenes settings, if I recall one code was *#*#INFO#*#* (crap, it may have been #*#*INFO*#*#), that opens up a really cool set of setting windows related to your cell signal, wifi settings, etc.
Ultimate super-awesome fix? I ditched Verizon and wen't with T-Mobile. (after 20 years with ATT or VZW).
Wow!! Instant wide-coverage 5G that actually works, instant support for VOWifi and VOLTE, and visual voicemail that works too. I love it.
So, I'm sorry OP (Original Poster)(not OnePlus), I realize this may not help you directly, but I really do feel your frustration, and just wanted to share my experience. Maybe someone may be helped a bit. And, no, I don't work for any telecom co. My job requires good phone signal etc and it has to be reliable, thus my taking a chance on T-Mobile.
Best wishes.
Oh hey original poster, the link you put is the one I looked at before switching carriers, because it said T-Mobile was the best for OP8P, and I agree completely. Good tech support too.
From the weblink:
=============================
OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro on T-Mobile 5G
As you may have expected, T-Mobile is the best-supported carrier for the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. The unlocked models of both phones support T-Mobile's Sub-6 5G network, meaning you'll get the same network access as many of the phones it sells directly. T-Mobile's Sub-6 5G is the portion of the network that operates on lower frequencies, and has the widest coverage — you'll find its Sub-6 5G layering most of the same footprint as its LTE network.
The phones also support Sprint's mid-band Sub-6 network, which was the core reason T-Mobile purchased Sprint in the first place. So as T-Mobile starts to integrate Sprint's spectrum into its new larger network, the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are ready for it.
5G on T-Mobile: Everything you need to know
Curiously, though, neither phone supports T-Mobile's mmWave 5G network, which is admittedly small right now but is a main pillar of its overall 5G rollout nationwide — particularly in dense cities. This is even the case for the OnePlus 8 that T-Mobile will be selling directly, which is a head-scratcher.
For most people, Sub-6 5G is more important, especially in the next year, because T-Mobile's mmWave network is very small and only available in parts of a handful of cities. But it will become more and more important, so if you plan on keeping your OnePlus 8 for a couple of years, keep in mind that you won't have access to T-Mobile's whole 5G network as it grows.
====================
I just bought the OP 8 Pro from one plus and the only thing not working VOwifi but VOLTE is working fine and so is visual VM and now so is 5G for me yay . I do know when you BYOD you need to chat with support and provision your line for CDMA-Less if that's not added to your line things will not work there is a way to get VoWifi working but i never used it on my other phones so not really a big issue for me. i can see it being an issue for people with bad signal at home. i have had good luck using phones on VZW as long as they were certified as allowed on their network
Kind of related, I have a OnePlus 8 IN2013 on Verizon (if you are wondering why the EU model its because it was the only model I could find in Onyx Black) LTE and everything works fine on it but I wonder if I can get low band 5g enabled using the method posted further up. I already know I cant get mmwave 5g and honestly dont care but I cant for the life of me find what bands Verizon is using for their low band 5g
